Depreciation for Days

Hi All,
In asset accounting if we wants to calculate depreciation for Years & Months we can calculate by getting option in depreciation area tab of asset master record. for e.g If situation is 7 yers & 6 months then yera column we give 7 & period column we give 6.
But if i want to calculate depreciation like 7 years, 6 months & 15 days how to achieve this.
Looking forward for response.

Hi Sandeep,
I dont think there can be any decent work around for this...
However, you can try to change your dep key to use a Dep % instead of useful life.... You can adjust your dep % rate so that the asset depreciates over Yrs - Months & 15 days.... However, i think its gonna be very difficult to do that

  • How can i shut down depreciation for an Asset for few days??

    Hi Friends,
How can i shut down depreciation of a particular Asset for few days say 5 days??
I have done the necessary changes in Time dependent tab like checked asset shut down and in AFAMA i changed the shut dawn as YES.
The only problem i am in is "how can i maintain the 5 days like from 10.05.2009 to 14.05.2009
If i go to MORE INTERVALS then only From date is available over there. There is no To date opition.
How can i maintain To Date??
    Plz suggest.
    Regards,
    Sumaya

    Hi
Go for shut down approach. But your depreciation key should allow shut down. check your depreciation key configuration
    In asset master data
    Go to time dependent terms,
Define the appropriate time interval for shutdown
    Set the shutdown indicator
The system does not calculate the depreciation for the shut down period,
The useful life of the asset will increase to the extent of shutdown period.
When you remove the shutdown indicator, system automatically resumes the depreciation calculation.

  • Calculation of Depreciation for Tax for India

    Hi
In India, there is a requirement that the Depreciation for Income Tax should be calculated based on the date of Acquisition. If an asset has been acquired before or on completion of 180 days of a Financial Year, than the calculation of Depreciation is allowed for full year. If the asset has been acquired after 180 days , depreciation is allowed only for 180 days. Hence for an asset acquired on 25/09/2009, system should allow calculation of depreciation from 01/04/2009, assuming that the fiscal year starts from 01/04/2009 and ends on 31/03/2009. However, if the asset is acquired on 07/10/2009, the system should allow depreciation from 01/10/2009. Sap has delivered standard depreciation keys for the same in reference chart of depreciation for India 0IN.
But if the asset has been acquired on 01/10/2009, still the asset has to be depreciated from 01/04/2009, since the asset has been acquired for less than 180 days into the fiscal year. The system is working fine for asset capitalized on 25/09/2009 and 07/10/2009. But we are not able to map the same if asset is capitalized on 01/10/2009 and 02/10/2009. For these two dates, the depreciation should start from 01/04/2009.
I have checked the period control setting and calender assignments and everything seems to be in place. How can we tackle the issue?

    Sanil K Bhandari

    Hi
The same has been resolved.I Created a new assignment in Period Control IT for my fiscal year variant. For month 10, i added a new line item with no of days as 2 in addition to no of days as 31 for month 10.

  • Calculation of Depreciation for Group Asset

    Hi Experts,
I am getting a problem while doing depreciation for group asset
    Ex:  80,000;  Rate 10%
total depreiaiton p.a is Rs 8000/-
as per the Indian standards if it is below 180 days it should take Rs 4000/-, but in my system it is showing Rs 3333.33
my depreciation start date & capitlization date is 01.11.2007.
    Regards,
    Satya Vani.

    Dear,
    Reshma.
Looking at your Questions let us take explanation for Group Assets :-
1 ) We need to create new different asset class for Group Class in OAOA. Then permit the depreciation area for only Group Asset in OAYM as it is in your current scenario India  is Depreciation Area 15 Just select your company code in OAYM and check the Grp Asset field for respective area 15. Then go to OAAX here we have to maintain the assets classes particularly for Group Assets. So check your Group Asset classes for Group Assets. Cerate different Group asset classes for your said requirement.
In these depreciation areas, it is then possible to make an assignment to a group asset.  You make this assignment in the specifications for the depreciation area in the asset master record.  When you post an acquisition to this kind of asset, the system duplicates the line items from this depreciation area on the given group asset.
2 ) According to me you have to create different depreciation keys for Group Asset classes. Assign the Depreciation keys to your newly created Group Asset Classes in OAYZ and make sure you are deactivating 01 area which is Book Depreciation area.
3 ) As far as I know this is the only functionality available to handle Group Assets. How ever SAP does not have any standard Group Assets functionality. SAP does not supply asset classes to be used solely for group assets. It is we have to determine as per varying Business Process.
I hope this will clear your doubt makes you to understand. Please revert back for further clarification. Welcome you.

  • Depreciation for the year to be posted halfly

    Hi Guys
In my implementation we have a scenrio, the depreciation for a particular depreciation area has to be done halfly i.e. only on period 06 & 12
I have done necessary configure for the weightage and for the relevant depreciation area
OAYL - i have clicked the check box for the relveant depreciation area
OA85 - i have given the weightage for the period 06 & 12 as 50% and for all the other period as 0
But when i run the depreciation AFAB - the deprecation is getting posted from the very first period
Did i missed any config guys
    Thanks in advance
    Warm Regards
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
When I look to your example you can use a nomal depreciation key like LINR. In the asset you have to say start at the middle of a year. Like on 01-07-XXXX.
In the period control from your depreciation key you can use start at the middle of the year. When the fiscal year is not the same as the calendar year you have to define that in the period controls.
When you create a posting then the depreciation keys looks to the period controle table and fill in automtatecly depreciation start date.
When this is in all the years you have to say
    years month
    0          6         0%
    1                     50%
    1          6         0%
    2                     50%
It is then important that the depreciation start date is the first day of the fiscal year.
For tessting this you can better use the esset exploirer. There you can see the planed values by month for this year and the years tottals for the other year.

  • Depreciation for full month

    Hi Friends.
My client requirement is to provide the depreciation for the full month in the year of acquisitiona as well as sale.  For example, if an asset is acquired on 10th of a month, the system should calculate depreciation for the full month though the asset is not held during the first 10 days.  Similarly at the time of sale also.
Your answers carry more weightage with good appreciation.
    Regards.
    Srini

    Hi,
For this you have to set up:
2 new period controle rule's     TC OAVS
    Define Calender Assignments  TC OAVH
Maintain Period Control Methods TC AFAMP
You have to assign this to your depreciation key TC AFAMA (perhaps a new depreciation key)
It the depreciation key the the follow options should not be selected:
    Dep. to the day

  • Depreciation  for additional vaule

    Hi All
While we are running depreciation in AFAB , for the asset additional vaule. In this connection System is not calculating dep  on capitailzed date for the additional value. This issue details are:
1.Old asset value is 4,97,000, Capitailzed date is 14.02.2000,legacy asset upload to SAP system on 01.06.2008.
    2. For this asset we can add additional value of 100000 rs on 31.12.2008.
    3. We follow the 10% WDV method.
We are trying to calculate depreciation for additional value and old asset value, but system is not considering the capitalization date for additional value.System  is calculating dep  one day  for additional value.
User wants to calculate depreciation for  365 days for additional value.(100000)
Anbody can access me to solve this issue.
    Regards
    G.K.Dharmendar

    Hi
You just check either you have set the asset data transfer dates properly and it is ok then check while creating  legacy data through AS91 you have given the take over values in all dep areas, these 2 reasons may be causing just check and confirm.

  • Asset retirement (Depreciation by day)

    Hello,
My client want Depreciation by day for Plant & Machinery Asset class.
While retiring an asset they calculate the depreciation till previous month. for eg. if they want to retire an asset on 20th Feb, they will calculate the depreciation on the asset till 31st Jan.
But, if depreciation by day is used in the depreciation key then the system would calculate the depreciation for 20 days of Feb also(as depreciation by day will override the period control).
The client want depreciation till 31st Jan, the 20 days of depreciation for Feb is not required by them.
    Is it possible...Kindly help...
    Regards,
    WNR

    Hi,
If you hav chosen Dep to the Day tick in your Dep Key - Then this would be the system behaviour...
What you are wanting is combination of both -  i.e. Dep to the day in the case of Acquisition , but depreciation till last month in the case of retirement.. This is not possible...
you should check with your business as to what should be the treatment in the case of Acq / Transfer / Retirements... Based on that, You should untick the "Dep to the Day" and choose the relevant period control and make relevant assignment in OAVH for your period control
With the present settings i.e. "Dep to the Day" switched ON, what Bernhard said is the only choice... you should choose Asset value Date as the end of previous month+1... This would stop the dep calculation as of Last day of the previous month

  • Full depreciation for low value assets

    Hi Gurus,
How to set up depreciation key of low value assets to get asset fully depreciated irrespective of depreciation start date.
    For example :
    Asset No : xxxxxxx xx
    APC       : 5000 INR
Dep. Key : xxx (100% Depreciation)
    O.Dep.Start Date : 14/05/2006
In the above case depreciation was calculated only for 322 days
But I need to calculate depreciation for 365 days ie 100%.
    Please advice.
    Best regards
    Raja Manhoharan V.S.

There is a standard depreciation key with description LVA 100%. i am not sure if dep key is GWG or something else.

  • Exp.UL/Prd and depreciation start day

we have several assets, original asset useful life is 5 years, now depreciated for 2 years, but we change group depreciation policy, so group depreciation will be 5 months(after five months, all assets will be zero NBV), we changed the asset useful life to be five months, but do we need to change original depreciation start day and Exp.UL/PRD in AS02?
under which scenario we should change depreciation start day and Exp.UL/PRD ? thanks

    Hi,
The change ofn Exp.UL/Prd and depreciation start should be no problem in AS02. Of course it effects only open fiscal years.
When you change depreciation terms you must perform a recalculation  of the asset as the system will not automatically update these values.
    regards Bernhard

  • 8500 909a is on my network for days then it disappears and reinstall is the only way back

I am hoping someone can help me.  I am a computer reseller as well as the tech support provider to my customers.  I have tried everything that my 20 years experience has taught me and I cannot figure this out.
OS - Windows 7 Professional - with Administrative rights both locally and network wide.
4GB Ram and ample hard drive space.
Latest 8500 drivers from the web (Full package) downloaded and installed.
Networked using Netgear VPN Prosafe with a Server (2008 Std Edition) and 3 workstations as well as the HP 8500 (909a).  I AIO wired to my router, and I have a static IP assigned in the printer.  I have also reserved the static IP in my DHCP server so that the number isn't accidently handed out.   The printer will stay on the network for days sometimes weeks.  For no apparent reason, it just disappears.  The scanning doesn't find my computer and my computer doesn't see a printer any longer.  It sees the other HP Laser I have on the network (never losing that one - ever).
I am very tired of uninstalling and reinstalling to get this printer back.
Hoping someone has an answer for me.

I assume this is WIn7 64-bit?  If so, there are Firmware and Updates here that you should try.

  • Stop depreciation for an Asset

    Hi,
I understand when we create a asset master, the number of life years and the depreciation key are copied from the asset class it belongs to.
However, the finance side requires to pause depreciation for a asset, or they could want to stop depreciation for this asset, and how do we go about doing it? The situation now is that this asset already have depreciation posted.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks

You can use the asset shutdown functionality so you can pause the depreciation for a given period of time.
AS02 > Time dependent tab , click the asset shutdown. In case asset shutdown is not available, check spro and customise fixed asset master data.
    Hope this helps.

  • FF3.6.13 keeps telling me updates are available but it has been connecting to server for days when is it going to happen

I/m using winXP SP when i open FF browser a message appears in the bottom taskbar updates are avaialable Igo into "check for updates"& another box says "downloading the update" &"connecting to server" but this has been going on for days how long does it take? I have used up my 2gig monthly download from OPTUS but with the slow connection updates should be done by now any help on whats wrong?

[[Updates reported when running newest version]] - link
The cause could be due to your user agent being mixed up as 3.6.12 and 3.6.13 versions. I think downloading 3.6.13 from www.mozilla.com and then uninstall your 3.6.13 and then install the 3.6.13 you downloaded should fix it in this case. Your settings are in a separate place ([[Profiles]]) and not in program folder.
