Desktop Intelligence formula to convert into Web Intelligence formula

Hi Team,
I have converted Desk I Report into Web I report but below formula is not working in Web Intelligence report.
Desk I formula
="Selected Period: " + UserResponse(DataProvider([Order Number]) [EIH Query]"Enter Date mm/dd/yyyy (From)?") + " To: " + UserResponse(DataProvider([Order Number]) [EIH Query]"Enter Date mm/dd/yyyy (To)?")
converted formula into Web Intelligence but not working. It is showing "# Syntax"

Use the following syntax:
="Selected Period: " + UserResponse([EIH Query];"Enter Date mm/dd/yyyy (From)?") + " To: " + UserResponse([EIH Query];"Enter Date mm/dd/yyyy (To)?")
Note: Prompt string should be exactly same and the query name to be used in []

How to add image in web intelligence report?

Hi All,
I tried to add an image into web intelligence report by using the background image function available in the appearance settings. But when I tried to click on the button with ellipse, it does not show up a dialog box.
Do I miss out anything? Help is really needed.

Hi David,
You can try these steps to see if the Background image dialog box is appearing for a Free Standing Cell.
1. In Webi Java Report Panel, select Templates-> Free Standing Cells -> Formula and Text Cells-> Blank Cell
2. Click and drag the cell in the report.
3. Select the cell Properties
4. Under Text Format, click on the button in the Background Image property.
5. You can select the u201CImage from URLu201D or u201CImage from fileu201D.
6. If you are selecting u201CImage from URLu201D, change the u201CRead cell content asu201D property to u201CImage URLu201D under Display section in the Properties Window.

a MultiValue in Web Intelligence indicates that the measures are aggregates along "multiple values" for dimensions and it is something you can configure in the report itself in the properties for the table.

Crystal Reports - Web Intelligence Migration

I just wanted to know about the Crystal to Web Intelligence Migraton.
My client has Reports developed CR XI R2, now they have deployed BO XI R2.
Is there any tool/utility by which we can migrate existing CR reports into Web Intelligence Reports.
Or do we need to redsign report in WebI

Integrate BW Hierarchy into Webi

Hello Everyone,
We have a query with a hierarchy and it´s used into Web Intelligence. When i run the query in BW it works fine, but when i run the query by the Web Intelligence it shows no Data. If I remove the hierarchy from the query, the WEBI works fine as well, so with that i guess the problem is the hierarchy.
Do you have any suggestion about this issue ?
We are on XI 3.1 SP3.

I do have hierarchies in the BO coming from BW. But didn't encountered any such issue. But here are some points that you
can check..
Make sure the hierarchy is activated in BW?
In BEx you have option called "Expand to Level", value is selected depending on the no. of levels.
You are not getting the partial results on BO side.
Also try to execute the query on BO with only single hierarchy level each time to make sure that the problem is with hierarchy.

Medium Name detail objects can't able to drag into WebI filter panel

Hi experts,
In our OLAP universes on SAP BI Query we have medium name detailed objects, which we are not able to drag into Web Intelligence filter panel. Whenever we try it says that you can't drag this object into filter panel.
The exact message is "You can not use this object in the filter pane". This is not applicable to all, some of Medium Name detail objects are allowed at filter pane.
Can any one throw some light on this. why we can't use medium name detailed objects in WebI Report filter panel.

Based on my analysis found that the property for Condition panel is disabled only for Medium Name detail objects when BI InfoObject having text enabled for Medium Name (only).
In case of short and long text this property is enabled on integration with out any manual efforts.
Are there any special considerations (like performance) for medium name detail objects in doing so. I mean using medium name details objects in Condition panel are we going to face any performance issues. Is it recommended to have medium name details objects as condition?

Desktop Intelligence (DeskI) Reports: These are standard "rep" -type files created from BO's full client known as "Desktop Intelligence". The software is loaded individually to each workstation that will execute Deski. A Deski report can be modified/viewed using the full client as well as applying all the tools/options available when using the full client. As an added "benefit" a saved rep (Deski Report) can be imported to the XI web platform for "public" execution/view (but not for modification) -- all viewed via Infoview on the Web Intelligence platform.
Web Intelligence (WebI) Reports: These are standard "wid" -type files created using the online WEBI on XI and these reports can use tools and options available in Webi. These reports are built using WebI and and viewed using either WebI (modify mode) or Infoview (read-only mode). If further modifications to a report are needed then open in modified mode, correct, report, save, and then subsequently open in Infoview in cases where no further modification is required but you just want to view and move on.
DeskI was the initial product, offered prior to XI. When XI hit the streets, DeskI was not included, but users compelled BO to include DeskI in XI R2 and DeskI has been included ever since. BO strategy moving forward is to include as many features in DeskI into WebI, but that still remains to be seen. If you've never used DeskI before, then conventional wisdom is "don't", just learn to deal with everything in WebI and if it can't be done in WebI, then either look back to DeskI or consider Crystal, or something else. If you've used DeskI, then try to learn how to do the same things in WebI and encourage the use of WebI throughout your organization.

can't find this information in Business Objects Designer's Guide and in Business Objects Administrator Guide.
Can somebody give short instructions how can I do it?

If the change between the 2 types of data has to happen dynamically during run time them
1. Use 2 dataproviders
a. Current
b. Historic
2. Merge the 2 dimensions
3. Use Webi variable to switch between the measure of the current and historic universe
Ex if [year] < 2010 then historic.[expense] else current.[expense]

             I am using Business Object Enterprise XI SDK. I have written vb.net SDK program to show the selected web intelligence document. I have used the formula field in the web Intel. document. I want to change formula of the web intel. document in the vb.net code by using Infostore object. Is it possible ?

I do not think if you will be able to achieve it through the infostore and the RENET (ReportEngines .NET).
But with the Java ReportEngines, this is possible by creating a ReportExpression via the ReportDictionary's method createFormula.
Here is a snippet code:
private ReportExpression processReportExpression(ReportDictionary reportDictionary, ReportExpression expr, String definition)
        newExpr = reportDictionary.createFormula(definition);
    return newExpr;

You should just have to set the aggregation for the object in designer.
goto 'Properties' tab for avail_bal
and set the Qualification to 'Measure' and the Function to 'Sum'

Can Web Intelligence display time in 24-hour clock format?

I would appreciate your kind help in answering this question: How can I change the time format in a formula so as to display time in the 24-hour clock format?
          Presently the CurrentTime() value format looks like this : 02:26:25 PM GMT-04:00
          Instead, I want it displayed in the 24-hour clock format like this : 14:26
I'm developing Web Intelligence reports in the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.2 InfoView environment.
I searched several places for an answer to this question, but had no luck.
I searched the BusinessObjects Enterprise InfoView online help document (i.e., Web Intelligence Java Report Panel); I also searched two web sites: the Experts-Exchange website, and the BOB www.forumtopics.com website.
I figured out that there is built in conversion function FormatDate() that can convert a date value into a text value, as for example : FormatDate( CurrentDate(); "mmmm dd, yyyy" )
However, I have not found an equivalent time function that would convert a time value into a text value of a specified format.

     Perfect; you answered my question!
     The only thing that I had to do differently was to leave off the quote marks from the string "HH:mm:ss" when I entered it into the Custom Date/Time box of the Number Format dialog window.
     While on this subject of the Number Format dialog window, I saw that the Date/Time box already held the following string value:
                FULL_DATE
     So, thinking that I should leave that value alone, I entered the string "HH:mm:ss" in the box labeled "Undefined" next to the Date/Time box, instead. That didn't work. It just caused the webi report to display the CurrentTime() value as a long date, like this:
               Friday, July 9, 2010
     So then I replaced the string "FULL_DATE" (without the quotes) with the string "HH:mm:ss" (first with and then without the quotes). In the first try, the report displayed the time as "14:20:34"; in the second try, the report displayed the time as 14:20:34.
     Questions:
     Can you please tell me:
     1. What is the meaning and usage of the label FULL_DATE?
     2. In my attempts to get the time formatted the way I wanted it to look, I filled the Properties list (of the Number Format dialog window) with junk labels such as those listed below. How can I delete these labels?
               FULL_DATE; "HH:mm:ss"
               FULL_DATE
               FULL_DATE
               FULL_DATE; "HH:mm:ss"
     3. What is the purpose of the box labeled "Undefined" next to the Date/Time box?

I installed BO Enterprise XI edition - server and client (on separate computers).I also installed LiveOffice and activated it in CMC (via licence key). After that, as expected, in new MS Office 2007 I got additional tools - 'Insert Live Office doc'. My problem is that one is not able to insert Desktop intelligence document *.rep into word/excel document. What is workaround, or what was I'm doing wrong? I can import Web intelligence, but what is that (I didn't get it as a part of BO Enterprise Edition!)thanks.

This has been an issue for a number of releases.
BOE WISHLIST : the Enterprise Administrator should have a built-in CMC tool for managing USER PREFERENCES (including setting DEFAULTS for new Users).
Until that finally happens, this seems to be the best way to work-around it...

Connection from Web Intelligence over Universe to SAP ERP without SAP BW

Hi there,
is there a way to create a Universe which ic connected to SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) ? I want to use Web-Intelligence to create the Reports for my ERP-Data. But i don't want to make the way over SAP BW.
Otherwise i have to use Crystal because Crystal + SAP ERP Integration Kit can handle a connection to ERP. But then i have to waste a lot of time for the accuracy to a pixel which i dont need and i dont want...
Any Ideas ?!

you have 4 options:
1) Load your SAP ERP data into an SAP BW system and use OLAP universes to build WebI reports.
2) Use Rapid marts for SAP. This product comprises Data Integrator mappings that will allow to load your SAP ERP data into a predefined DWH based on a relational data source (like DB2, MS SQL Server or Oracle). It also includes a universe based on the predefined relational DWH that will allow you to build WebI reports.
3) Use the Data Federator with the SAP R/3 connector. Please note that the R/3 connector is NOT a product rather a prototype tand will be used at own risk (SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence Reporting for SAP ERP [original link is broken])
4) NOT RECOMMENDED: Try to access the tables directly in the underlying database. Please note that this may work for some but not all of the ERP data. In several case the data are stored encoded in the underlying tables and there is no way to extract the required information. Additionally the ERP security will not be leveraged into the WebI report.
Crystal reports is the currently the only BO reporting tool, which supports direct access to SAP ERP data sources.
