Desktop Software Issue Win7

I've looked everywhere for a solution to this and if anyone can help this board (I hope).
So the issue I have is that I have a win7 machine 32 bit and I'm trying to installed Blackberry desktop software on to it. So I go through the install process no problem and the icon appears on the desktop. The issue is when I click on the icon I get the splash screen and then the application opens but I only have the boarder, I can see the BLACKBERRY SCREEN Software on the top left and the max/min close buttons on the top right but nothing within the boarder. Nothing appears in the event viewer and no error message appear.
I've managed to install BDS on three other Win7 machines without any problem.
Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I would suggest the following. Uninstall the DM with Media Manager. Media manager is not a stable program
and will cause headaches.
You can just plug your BB to the USB and open Windows explorer. You said you had a media card, the BB will look like a
flash drive. Quick easy and efficient. One possible problem to warn you about. iTunes is DRM protected and will not play
on the BB. You can either by the higher priced ones with out, or Google a program that will strip the DRM protection off.
You might be interested in media sync, free program from blackberry that is much better that Media Manager.
Here are two links,
1) Use this to Perform a clean uninstall of the DM you have now.

Hey, so I have a super oldschool blackberry. It doesn't even have a memory card slot in it. Comes with 16 MB of internal memory, which is enough for some pictures and a couple chopped up ringtones.
My problem: I lost the CD that came with the phone. The old desktop manager software that came with the phone allowed me to easily copy files to the internal memory directories, such as the ringtones folder. Can this be done with the new desktop manager somehow? All I get are errors for not having an expansion card in it and can't find any way to access this internal space to copy to it.
Also worth noting the phone can't be upgraded to newer BB operating systems because of the lack of memory and I also don't believe our enterprise server supports it.

    *UPDATE
    - turns out that downloading the iheartradio app directly from the website works flawlessly but i still have the same issue with the desktop software update

hey, i had a string of problems with updates for the BB:
#1 app world (most recent update and the previous one) insisted for an update and ended up crashing the phone; ended up running 3.0 for a while....after a couple reinstalls and wipes and deleting appworld files on the sd card, now it runs the most recent app world version
#2 after having to reinstall all applications and settings, etc., the only app that doesnt work properly is iheartradio (which used to work fine) where when it is "fetching cities..." it's still processing (no freezing) but never gets to the main screen and clocks every now and then...tried 4 ways to solve it:
deleting app from appworld, restart and reinstall = no fix.
deleting app from application storage, restart and reinstall = no fix.
deleting app from home screen, restart and reinstall = no fix.
using desktop software to delete the app, then reinstalling from app world........ran into another issue which is the main subject of this post
#3 so when i proceed with the core application update, everything installs and then it comes to the phone restarting, it gets stuck in an eternal restart loop....luckily i use BB protect as well as a backup to restore the phone but i'm reluctant to try the update again as it takes up too much time to restore the phone prior to the restart loop
    please advise, thanks!

  • Desktop Software Issues (Palm 755p)

    Palm Treo 755p - Dell Inspiron 6400, Intel T2400, 2GB DDR2 667mhz - Windows XP Home Version 2002 Service Pack 3
I bought this phone from Verizon a few months ago. I installed the software at that time without problems and it ran for a week or so with no issues. Then one day I clicked on the desktop icon, got an hourglass and then nothing. The software would not open. Palm shows in the task manager but will not run. At the time, I called Palm Support and then gave me some instructions that worked... until I rebooted the computer. No matter what I do, it will not open. This has been going on for months and I am at my frustration limit.
    Here is the situation:
On install, it sticks at 'configuring registry'. In the task manager, there are four instances of iDriver.exe, one instance of iDriverT.exe and four instances of msexec.exe running. I have tried ending some of the process, all of the process and just leaving them all alone.
I have not only uninstalled the program, but deleted the entire folder from my C:\ProgramFiles. I have not only took what I was told to from the registry, I have deleted every reference to the Palm software. I have rebooted after each time and ran registry scanner/repair
I have tried installing without my firewall and virus software running.
I have tried copying the disc to my laptop and running it from there.
I have tried updating the Windows Installer.
I am sure I have tried other stuff too, it is just so much that it probably slipped my mind right now.
I am really out of patience with this. The only other system I have in the house is a Vista Ultimate 64 bit OS.
Someone... PLEASE help me out here.
    thanks so much!
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

     Ok. This is really weird...
When I check users there is the admin account, named INSPIRON and the GUEST account, which is turned OFF.
There was NOTHING that I could think of that would allow me to get the PalmONE desktop software to open. The more I tried, the more problems i thought I had or there was something new that I found to wonder about. It was driving me crazy... and yes, I made sure the AntiVirus software was off, made sure nothing was running but the absolute necessities, and that all installs were clean after rebooting at every change.
This has been going on since MAY! Over THREE MONTHS! I found some issues that needed to be corrected. the .hta files were opening in Notepad, so I corrected that. I had all the icons and all the software in the program files, I just could not open the software, even tho I could hotsync.
Anyway... I was playing around and decided to RIGHT CLICK on the icon. I choose RUN AS and a box popped up asking me
"Which Account Do You Want To Use To Run This Program?" The choices were
    "Current User: (INSPIRON/laptop) or" ...
... then there is a drop down menu box with "laptop" in it if I click on it. I get an error message when i choose the latter and the program opens and runs just fine when I choose the former.
I have no idea why this is happening or what is causing it. I have no idea what the "/laptop" is doing at the end of INSPIRON or why there is "laptop"  hidden in the drop down box on the second choice.
But I can run the software just fine this way. If anyone has any ideas on this, please share.
One other question, tho, and I should probably start a new thread about it but...  I updated the software to 1.08 and now the VERIZON WIRELESS band is gone from across the top of the phone screen. Why would that happen?
    Thanks for the replies.

    Hello:
Thank you for the update for remote access for desktops.
Personally, I do not want to give remote access to anyone but myself as privacy is my friend.  Can this remote desktop software still be for me personally unless I allow access and for my MAC lap top only?  What if I do not update? I do use this lap top in other countries.  compatibility issues with what?

Apple Remote Desktop is off be default. It has to be enabled for some one to be able to remotely connect to the computer. And then, you still have to have a user name and password on the computer to remotely connect with.
If you want to see if remote access has is enabled for Apple Remote Desktop; you can find the setting in, Apple Menu, System Prefrences, Sharing. If it's enabled, Remote Management or Screen Sharing will be checked.
Beucase Apple Remote Desktop Agent is part of the Mac Operating System; even if your not using it, Apple Software Updates will from time to time offer updates for ARD Agent. Software Updates can some times be stacked ontop of each other; so chosing not to install an update, can mean other updates you may want may not be offered. At least until you install the updates those updates require. Also software updates can improve the security of your computer.

  • Blackberry desktop software 6.0 icon issue

I had successfully installed the Blackberry desktop software 6.0 on my work computer. It was working beautifully, until suddenly a few weeks ago it just stopped working. I uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop software. Yet when I click on the shortcut, it keeps coming up with this message: "Blackberry Desktop software has stopped working." It is so frustrating as no one seems to know what the problem is. Can someone help me?

    Hey Renatas
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I'd like to provide some assistance and have a few questions
Does the Desktop Software open when the device is not connected?
Is this only happening from the short cut and have you tried opening the software from start menu >  all programs > BlackBerry?

  • Blackberry Desktop software destination folder issue

My company has created a personal profile on my laptop.  They have a preset limit as to the size of that profile.  When that profile size has been exceeded, I can neither shut down or log off my computer until I go in and delete enough files to get below the limit.
One of the folders in that profile is C:/documents and settings/rangel/Application Data (rangel in my profile name).
Well, when I install the Blackberry Desktop software on my machine, it automatically loads the software into Application Data without asking me where I want to save it.  Also, every time I connect my phone to sync, a file called Loader Cache is created and causes me to exceed my profile space.
I've already gone into the desktop software and changed the folder destination for my Backup and Organizer data, but it won't allow me to change the destination folder for anything else.
I can't just go into Windows Explorer and "cut and paste" these folders because the software won't find them the next time I connect my phone.  I don't know enough about the folders to just delete them and what issues deleting them causes.  Unfortunately, however, I really have no other choice.  I have to go in and manually delete the folders and then the next time I connect my phone, my profile space is exceeded again.
Does anyone know of a way that I can change the destination folder for my desktop software files (other than Backup and Oranizer data)???
    Thanks!

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software Installation issue

    Hi All,
I have tried to Upgrade BlackBerry Desktop Manager from 3.6 to 4.7 version, and it is successfully upgrade to BlackBerry version 4.7. But the issue is, it shows both version in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
Note: After installation rebooted the PC
    Example:
Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Currently installed Programs
    BlackBerry Desktop Manager 3.6
    BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7
Kindly some please advice. Thanks... Shiva

the shortcut startup is the thing that adds (or not) the shortcut in the Startup menu, but the Desktop Manager starting at Windows start is stored in the registry.
I didn't bother to do all that, there is a clear option when you install the desktop manager that asks for automatic startup & automatic upgrade. I don't remember at which point (it's a shame, because I installed it less than 3 weeks ago and have already forgotten ! not eating enough fish), but it's there.
besides, I believe you can untick the option later, maybe in the Device Manager that is next to the windows clock.

  • Issues uninstalling Palm Desktop software (v. 4.2.1)

I am having issues uninstalling the Palm desktop software (v. 4.2.1) from my computer and Palm Support is no longer able to assist me, claiming the problem is too complex and OS-related.
Basically, I wasn't able to remove the software using the built-in uninstall feature so I was told to attempt a manual deletion of all Palm-related files in Terminal. After doing a search for these files via Spotlight, I was given the following directions:
    >> On the Terminal application.
    Type rm.
Press Space bar on the USB keyboard.
Drag the undeleted files to the terminal.
    Press Enter.
Check if the file is deleted. If not, just click anywhere on the desktop and after a few seconds check if the file is deleted.
This method was mostly successful and I was able to remove most of the files that I wasn't otherwise able to from trash. However, several files still remain:
1 - In an original folder labeled 'Palm 00-08-43', there are two applications that cannot be deleted: 'Palm Support' and 'Palm Desktop'. Both seem to be applications based on their generic icon; 'Palm Desktop' indeed opens up as the Palm Desktop application (v. 4.2.1) but the Palm Support file
cannot be opened because it may be "damaged or incomplete".
2 - In an original folder labeled 'Palm', there is an unidentified 'Palm Desktop' file (4.4MB) that cannot be deleted in Terminal either. (By "unidentified" I mean, no default application is specified to open the document.)
3 - Also, when searching for Palm-related files via Spotlight, I get a result for an application 'Palm Desktop Background' whose file path is associated with the unidentified and problematic 'Palm Desktop' file mentioned above in (2). The file path is as follows: Palm>Palm Desktop>Contents>Resources>Palm Desktop Background.
None of these files (whether individually or their folders) can be deleted in Terminal for the same reason, which Terminal specifies as "a directory". I even tried creating a folder and dragging that folder with all the corrupt files into the Terminal application but to no avail. Also, I made sure to run the Disk Utility to repair and verify disk permissions during this process.
Can anyone help me figure out why those specific files or "directories" cannot be easily deleted? The problem sounds complicated so if anyone knows where I might be able to seek assistance, that would be helpful too. Thanks!

    iBook G4 14-inch SuperDrive (M9848LL/A)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What problem are you trying to solve? If you want to remove all signs of the Palm desktop software, what I did was open up a finder window, and then I searched for "Palm" and deleted everything that came up, except the Palm folder in my Documents folder.
Until I finally divorced myself from using the Palm desktop software, I had to repeat this operation several times.
The Palm desktop software is absolutely horrible. I suggest you move to Missing Sync by Mark Space software or use Apple's built-in iSync and forget about the Palm desktop software. You can get Missing Sync online from http://www.markspace.com

  • Desktop Software Sync Issues

Hello, I'm using a Blackberry 9700 running on os 6.. The problem here is that it cant be charged by the original cable and when connected to the PC it cant be detected by the Blackberry Desktop Software.. It just says "disconnected" and it wont popup so I cant sync... I know its not a problem with the cable or the port because it works with another Blackberry device here... any help would be appreciated thanks...
      Blackberry 9700 : os 6
      Desktop Software Version : 7.1.0.37
      Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit

You've narrowed it down.  Can you take the phone to an authorized repair center or check with your carrier?  If it works with another blackberry, the cable is fine.

If desktop software is not offering your desired language ( Hindi ) then you can try to Install an OS pack which offer this language . If you want to do that then follow those steps :
1.Download an OS pack having All Language  from here  Software from Redington (India) Limited
( Make sure you are downloading for the same device model )
    2. Now Double Click  on the file that you Downloaded to Install it on your PC
    3. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.
4.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
From here you have two options :
Once completed Open BlackBerry Desktop Software ( 7.1 ) > Select Applications. > In the Language and Input Support section, select the language to be added to the BlackBerry smartphone (a + will appear next to the language to install) > Click Apply.
    Or
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.  It will Install the OS on your BlackBerry .

  • Desktop Software SYnch Issue with Alarm Flags

Hello.  I recently upgraded my PC to Windows v.7.  As a result, I had to re-install my BB Desktop software.  The installation went fine, but the first time I tried to synch I had a problem with a conflict.  Apparently all of my appointments on my BB, alarm the flag is set to "true", while my MS Outlook is reading "false"  The BB resolution is defaulting to update both fields to the Outlook setting which is "false".
Does anyone know what this is caused by?  How to correct it?  or what the correct response should be in the conflict resolution?

  • Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES)

    Hi there,
With the advances in the RIM Desktop Software, there have been many posts about the upgrade process resulting in less than functional situations. The process I recommend is to cleanly start completely over, cleaning all remnants of the Desktop Software from the PC, and perhaps even clearing the content databases from the BlackBerry SmartPhone (on the assumption that the Desktop Organizer app has complete and correct data).
To do this, I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything that you can. Additionally, if you are truly concerned about your data, then you should first copy (for Outlook, to a PST) your contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks...just to be sure, in case of something catastrophic.
There are some reports that a Windows user profile (type 'echo %userprofile%' in the command prompt) that contains spaces might cause the installer to fail. In order to solve this issue, log out of your Windows account and log back in using the local Administrator account (or any other account name without spaces, but with full admin rights) and install the desktop (for all users).
    1) Remove any/all BlackBerry Device Software package(s) from your PC
Add/remove programs, Uninstall, etc. depending on your Windows OS level
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM Desktop Software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported the manual search and removal of RIM, BB, and Puma registry keys to be helpful.
Do not attempt this if you are at all unsure -- editing your registry incorrectly can render your entire PC useless!
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your BlackBerry Device Software package from your carrier -- it must be the version that your BlackBerry is already running (otherwise, the Desktop Software will attempt to change the version that is running on your BlackBerry):
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone
    5) Install the Desktop Software to your PC -- do not allow it to start
    6) Install (also to your PC), the BlackBerry Device Software package -- do not allow it to start the Desktop Software
If the package came from a carrier other than that for which your BlackBerry was originally manufactured, then after this install step completes, you must delete, from your PC, at least one copy, and possibly two, of VENDOR.XML.
One will for sure be here (or something quite similar, depending on your Windows OS):
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    The other might be here:
    c:\Users\<insert your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    7) Start the Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry to your PC (USB) when prompted.
    8) OPTIONAL -- if you truly want a clean start over AND you are 100% sure that the data in your PC Desktop Organizer (e.g., Outlook) is accurate, then, at this point, you can clear the BlackBerry of all Organizer data so that you can start over fresh, using your PC Organizer data as master:
KB10167 How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone
    9) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB03315 How to synchronize organizer data (calendar, task list, memo list, and contact list) using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
If you are using Outlook AND multiple profiles, be sure to click the "Configure" button, inside of the Configure screen for each organizer app...that is how you select the proper profile for EACH Organizer component you are configuring.
Hopefully that will get things going again.
