Destructive Export of a Set of JPEGs?

I know I can do the following on a one photo basis:
1. make modifications in the develop module to a JPEG (non-destructive)
2. export the JPEG by applying the modifications and overwriting the original (destructive)
3. delete the development history from LR
Can I do 2+3 to a set of photos rather than one-by-one?
The reason is that I want the development modifications to be visible also to other applications and I don't want
to create copies of the photos in some other place.
Thanks.

I understand your argument but I question that this works well for a non-professional photographer.
I am not a professional photographer, and it works well for me (and most LR uses, professional or not)
I know we are talking philosophy now but I doubt that once one is happy with a photo one will go back editing it again, at least no edit which can't be done on the JPEG.
My experience is different. As I learn more about LR, I go back and make further edits to my photos. The quality loss of saving a .jpg and then doing further edits cannot be undone. Perhaps the quality loss is too small to notice for most people and most purposes, but it is there.
After I have done editing my photos I like to show them under various circumstances, e.g. to friends on my HTPC in the living. Your (LR-centric) approach would force me to duplicate all my >20,000 photos as unprocessed ones for LR and processed ones for showing. It would be a nightmare to keep them in sync.
The LR approach does not require you to duplicate your photos. LR makes wonderful slide shows. You can create the slideshow in LR, save it as a .pdf, and display it anywhere. Or simply display the photos from within LR, in which case there are no duplicates needed, and no keeping them in sync.
For RAW the situation is different. Since I shoot RAW photos I keep them and export JPEGS. But that is only since a year or so.
I am not sure what this means, but I see no difference between Raw and Jpg in the LR workflow.
In summary, LR does everything you need to do without resorting to exporting .jpgs (and wiping out the originals). I still can't imagine why anyone would pay all that money for LR and then specifically avoid using it in the most effective and efficient manner.

  • Exporting an Indesign PDF to JPEG causes logo dropshadow to have white box--why?

    Hi all,
I have an Indesign document with a logo in the header. This logo (a linked .png file) has a dropshadow applied to it using Indesign's drop shadow fx (the drop shadow was not created with the graphic in a graphics program). When I export this document to a PDF, everything appears fine. However, when I then convert this PDF to a .JPEG, something happens to the logo--a white box is shown around the logo. I am guessing it's a transparency issue that is causing this white box. If so, why? Why do I get this "white box" around the logo when I export a PDF to a jpeg?
Thanks for any clues anyone can provide to this strange phenomenon.

    Hmm.
From the first post, I was thinking the work-flow was:
    Export from ID to PDF
    Open PDF following its creation
Using Acrobat's file menu, export as JPG
As fars as #2 above, if the checkbox in ID's Export as PDF dialog box is checked, the PDF is opened automatically in Acrobat (if installed). Is this what you mean by "it launches its internal Acrobat dialogue box"?
As far as an internal setting, try exporting directly from ID. Select the items to be exported and when you get to the export dialog, make sure the "Selection" setting is chosen. Then you may be able to isolate whether it is ID (cannot imagine) or it is the PDF export profile, or even one of Acrobat's settings for exporting images.
    Take care, Mike

  • Exported Word files set off virus alerts for Windows users.

Work for a communications agency. Many of us prefer to write our copy in Pages, then export to Word files when sending over to clients to review. But, our exported "Word" files set off all our clients virus alerts like clockwork. Is there any way to prevent this besides exporting to RTF or PDF?
I've been told that Pages files exported out to Word files contain benign "macros" under the hood. And that virus alert programs on the Windows side see these macros (however harmless they are) and warn the user to not open, or trash the files.
This is causing hardship for us wanting to switch over to using Pages full-time. To our clients, it makes it seem as if we are careless, or are sending them files with viruses all the time.

As far as I know, there is no macro in files created by the Pages export process.
I'm on the Pages forums since two years and never read any message about such a behavior.
My guess is that the problem is not in Pages.
Maybe you are using the same anti-virus than my brother.
It rejects all jpegs claiming that they have a virus embedded

  • Can I use preview to export multiple page PDF as jpegs?

Using Preview, I export multiple page PDF as jpeg and results are the first page only as jpeg. Can I use preview to export multiple page PDF as jpeg for every page?

Automator is great for this if you need to export many pages to JPG, or just have to do this often.
Two other quick and dirty way sto get it done:
    (1) Enable thumbnail view, click on the ONE PAGE you want to convert to jpg, then choose "export." If you choose more than one page, only the first will get exported to jpg.
    (2) Create a copy of the file, delete all the pages except the one you want to export to JPG, and export that page. You may be able to "undo" the delete, get all your pages back again, and re-delete all but the one you want to export, etc. I would not recommend doing this on the original version of the file because of Preview's autosave so-called "feature."

  • How do I export a specific set of rows from Numbers?

What i am looking to be able to do is
Export a specific set of rows from Numbers
I am working with large files of information
but would like to break the file up into smaller files
    for example
    I have 1 file with 40,000 rows
I need to be able to export/save this file into 4 smaller files
    Rows 1-10,000
    Rows 10,001-20,000
    Rows 20,001-30,000
    Rows 30,001-40,000

I do not think I would use Numbers for this task.
I would duplicate the file (let's say the name is data.txt)
    and name the two files:
    dataA.txt
    dataC.txt
then I would open dataA.txt in TextEdit and delete the last half of the file and save
then I would open dataC.txt in TextEdit and delete the first half of the file and save
then duplicate dataA.txt and name the new file dataB.txt
then duplicate dataC.txt and name the new file dataD.txt
Now open dataA.txt and delete the last half of the file, save
Now open dataB.txt and delete the first half of the file, save
Now open dataC.txt and delete the last half of the file, save
Now open dataD.txt and delete the first half of the file, save
if you did this very often I would suggest a script of some kind

  • Sql Developer 3.1 - Exporting a result set in xls generates and empty file

Ever since upgrading to the Production version SQL Developer 3.1 (3.1.07) it appears that there is an issue when attempting to export a result set as a .xls format.
If I attempt to export in .xls format, the exported file is an empty file (i,e no output). When I change the export type to txt, csv or xlsx the results are exported as expected.
This appears to be a bug introduced in the Production version as I was successfully able to perform these tasks on the various 3.1 EA releases.
Am I alone in this, have I misconfigured something or is this a bug?

I keep having problems exporting to XLSX - mostly in cases where the data is voluminous and the format would be preferable over plain XLS as it does not have the 65krows limit ;-{ The data is read to the data grid (sometimes fast, sometimes much slower and "in chunks"), then the "task progress" won't move anymore, and the export file remains empty; If I cancel the task, trying to export again results in a message stating that sqldeveloper still has the output file locked.

  • Export a raw file to jpeg losses lens information

When I export a raw file to jpeg it losses the lens information.

    Ernie,
I have never paid attention to those tags on exported JPGs before, but I have recreated the scenario you described.  I have a Canon XTi, and my CR2 master files have about 12 more EXIF tags than the JPG versions.  Excluded in the JPG is the lens model.
However, the lens information for my camera is Canon proprietary tags.  That is, the general EXIF lens tags are not populated by my camera, so I would not expect them to be translated to regular EXIF tags by Aperture in a JPG.  I.e., I don't think Aperture will take metadata from one proprietary tag and put it in the place of another standard tag.  I suspect that is the same is true in your case.

  • Exporting RAW masters of RAW-JPEG Pairs

Is there any way to export only the RAW master of a RAW-JPEG pair?  I always shoot both RAW and JPEG.  In my workflow, I first import into Aperture the JPEG's.  I then group into stacks, choose my stack picks, and finally rate all my stack picks.  I then will go back and only import those RAW files which match my stack picks.  Occasionally, I would like to edit my RAW files outside of Aperture using Capture NX2 and would like to export only those RAW files.  Exporting a "version" only allows to export a JPEG/TIFF or other file.  Exporting "masters" exports both master files, the JPEG and the RAW.  Is there a way to only export the RAW master?
    Thanks for your advice.

I'm frustating about how Aperture give RAW+jpg pairs and once imported is not easy to select one of the two files depending on the case. I read recently a good solution, you can import Both as masters(RAW and JPG) and select AutoStack(⌥⌘A)
with a short time span (0:02) and Aperture will import the two masters of each photo, and later you'll be free to use one of them. And you can reject manually all the RAWs that you don't want to store.

Photoshop CS6 - How to export form Camera Raw to Jpeg of 300dpi?

What does your package include besides this disc?
If your artistry and production are at a high-level and you are charging tens of thousands of dollars then protecting your reputation and future-sales possibilities by not giving them a disc might be wise, but if you just want to be done with things after you get paid, then a disc or flash-drive of native-resolution (not resized) and uncropped JPGs might give the most freedom for the client, although if I was your client, I’d want the RAWs or at least DNGs with your settings saved to them.  If there is enough space on the media then you could put a folder of JPGs and a folder of TIFs, separately.  It depends on how many you’re giving them.  If you’re high-end you could give them an Wi-Fi iPad with the photos on it, or at least a non-Apple tablet with a removable flash-card for more easy offloading.

  • Default export location not set to pbk file location

    (Pixel Bender 2.1.432154 On Windows 7 64-bit)
After opening an existing .pbk file and going to 'File>Export Filter for Flash Player...', the default location is [Username]\Documents\Adobe\Pixel Bender in stead of the location of the file you are trying to export. Only when you do 'File>Save Filter As', the default export location is set the same as the location of the file.
    Is this intentional?
I would prefer the 'Export Filter for Flash Player' to always use the location of the file you are trying to export, not just after you did 'Save Filter As'. It would save me some time .
    - RC-1290'Dreadnought'
P.S. since Pixel Bender 2.0, the GPU mode not functioning, using ATI HD3870 or ATI HD3200. fine with my HD3870 and my HD3200

Ah, I see, when you open PixelBender first then go to to 'Open Filter' and navigate to where your filter is saved, everything works fine.
I usually double click the pbk files through Windows Explorer, or open them from the Project Explorer in FlashDevelop (which opens the file as if it was opened through Windows Explorer). So it seems like this happens when you haven't 'visited' the pbk file through the explorer in Pixel Bender (like 'Open Filter' and 'Save Filter As').
I have the files saved in a project folder ('Z:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Flash\Procedural\Terrain generator\bin\Shaders', Windows 7 is installed on 'Z:\')
So you should be able to replicate the problem by navigating to a pixel bender kernel file that is saved in a non-default location, with Explorer or equivalent. Then choose 'Export Filter for Flash Player'. Which will then show you 'Z:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Adobe\Pixel Bender' in stead of the location where the pbk file was saved. And even though 'Save FIlter As' makes Pixel Bender Remember the last used location, 'Export Filter for Flash Player' does not. Or at least, not for me.
    I hope this helps .

  • Export a Collection Set

    Hi
I have created a collection set in one of my Lightroom catalogues which has a series of smart collections and embedded collection sets within it.  I use this in my workflow for improving productivity. I normally put a complete photo shoot into my workflow collection folder which then filter through the different smart collections, once I have geotagged them, starred them, developed them, until I am left with a series of processed images. All images are removed from the workflow at the end ready for the next photo shoot.
What I would like to do is export an entire collection set with all my embedded smart collection to enable me to use the workflow on different catalogs. I don't want to move the photos just the collections.
Is there any way I can do this? I have found methods for "export smart collection settings" but nothing for a complete set.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to export a HD still to jpeg?

I know search is my friend, but he’s a confusing friend today. The thread I found on this isn’t helpful. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2335328&#2335328
I need a workflow for exporting a still from an HD movie to a jpeg still. I think I’m half-way there.
From FCP I do a QT Export to PICT.
I import the PICT into Photoshop. It’s squeezed. I change the pixel aspect ratio to HDV anamorphic. I use the de-interlace filter. Now it looks right.
I save as a jpeg. The jpeg image turns out squeezed.
    Where am I going wrong?
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

No problem, the aspect ratio conversion is in Photoshop! just to explain things in one go!:
    1. FCP Export - QT conversion, still image, jpeg
    2. Photoshop open jpeg, then image resize to 1920 x 1080
    3. Remember to deselect constrain image or the 1080 will upscale as well
    4. Save and that should be it.
    Hope it works!
