Developer Report vs Server Report

This is driving me crazy....
Scenario:
I have the developer edition CF 7.02 created report with CF
report builder. I have report grouped, and start new page when
group changes. Tested on localhost... Works fine.
Uploaded to server.
Tested on server... Doesn't group or start new page on group.
Both are running CF 7,0,2,142559.
I updated both with hot fix 7.02
I even installed report builder on server and attempted to
recreate. It would allow me to start new page on it at all. Any
suggestions? I don't know where to start to look for the problem. I
suspected it was a CF server problem, but don't see how when the
versions are the same.... unless the report part of CF is seperate.

Hi
since SP2 is not yet available for the CR Server V1 I would recommend NOT to install SP2 for the CR Designer V1.

  • Will the reports developed in sql server 2008 r2 BIDS work when deployed on sql server 2012 reporting manager

Will the reports developed in sql server 2008 r2 BIDS work when deployed on sql server 2012 reporting manager?
when I check on Microsoft site it says
Reports are not upgraded when you upload a report definition file directly to the report server
or SharePoint site. Upgrading a report definition in SQL Server Data Tools is the only way to upgrade the .rdl file.
When you open an .rdl file in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), if the report was
created for a previous namespace, Report Designer automatically creates a backup file and upgrades the report to the current namespace.
This is the only way you can upgrade a report definition file.
Now here is another confusing statement which says
You can upload an .rdl file created in an earlier version of Reporting Services to a SQL Server
2012 report server and it is automatically upgraded on first use. The report server stores the report definition file in the original format. The report is automatically upgraded the first time it is viewed, but the stored report definition file remains
    unchanged.
All I want to know is if I deploy a rdl made in 2008 r2 to 2012 will it work on the report manager of
    2012?

I have tested this fucntionality and can confirm that ssrs 2008 r2 reports work when you deploy them on new ssrs 2012 report manager .
    No Migration is required .
I didnt even moved report server dbs .All I did is just deployed reports on the report manager and it worked .
    "You
can upload an .rdl file created in an earlier version of Reporting Services to a SQL Server 2012 report server and it is automatically upgraded on first use. "
Microsoft needs to correct this the documentation is misleading

  • Fusion Middleware - Installing Forms & Reports Developer in separate server

    Hi,
I installed Forms & Reports Server (without developer tools) on one server. Now I want to install only Forms and Reports developer in another server. Can anybody tell me how to achieve this or from where I can get some reference document particularly for this task?

    you could set the working directory of your formsweb.cfg entry to another path;
    e.g.:
    [test_config]
    workingDirectory=d:\devworkspace\forms
where d:\devworkspace\forms is the directory where your fmx/plx/mmx are located
if you have also own .jar files in use, you could also put them into another directory, and access them in the formsweb.cfg via an aliasmatch:
    archive=frmall.jar,../my_aliasmatch/my_jar_file1.jar,../my_aliasmatch/my_jar_file2.jar
    and in the httpd.conf (OAS_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf)
    add a line like this:
    AliasMatch ^/forms/my_aliasmatch/(..*) "d:\devworkspace\java/$1"
where d:\devworkspace\java is the directory where your jar files are located.
    and restart Apache.
for productional use you can also create a different config with a different workdir and a different aliasmatch.
the reports can also be located anywhere; just set the workdir and cachedir of your testreportsserver to a location where your reports are located.

  • Exporting Queries from Developer Reports .rdf file

Is there a way I can extract the queries from the Developer Reports .rdf file.
We have the reports on a NT File server from where the users access the reports. We do not have the Report tables installed in the database.
We are using Developer Reports 3.0
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chegi Reddy

This isn't possible directly. You could use the conversion utility to convert the rdf files to rex files (textual representations), or XML files with the 9i release, and then parse these files to get the queries. Note that since rex is considered an 'internal' representation there's no documentation on the structure, but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out where the queries are.
    Hope this helps,

  • Developing reports using JDeveloper 3.0

Is it possible to develop reports using jdeveloper 3.0, so that the end users can print reports over the internet? Is that a feature in jdeveloper or do I have to buy a third party tool?
    Thanks,

Creating HTML/XML-XSL based reports in JDeveloper is completely doable.
To do this you can either create a Servlet or a JSP. This JSP/Servlet can use either either JDBC or BC4J to access a datasource in the database.
For further info on how to do this see the
Java Server Pages overview at: http://tooldemo.oracle.com/demos/tools/jdeveloper/

    Hi,
This type of question is almost impossible to answer over a forum .
You need to work with your business to understand what these requirements mean in terms of data modelling and relationships between object entities.
    - Some of these metrics should be delegated to source, and calculated in the update routines to your datatargets (aka Cubes/Tables)
    - Others could be resolved in the semantic layer (Universe)
    - Other will be calculated in the presentation layer as local formulae or variables.
whilst BusinessObjects is a fairly intuitive tool, it may be unreasonble to expect a new learner to deliver an advanced report with conditional formatting.

  • How do I use the Oracle Developer Reporting Control in Visual Basic 6.0?

I was wondering how to use the Oracle Developer Reporting Control componant in Visual Basic 6.0 to generate reports in Oracle Reports? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Rohit,
Would like to ask you some questions about the oracle report with Visual Basic.
    1. I have a report built in oracle report. Currently there is a Visual Basic program want to pass some parameter to this report. Can Visual Basic program pass the parameter to this oracel report?
    2. Based on yr answer, do i have to installed the oracle report? or just copy and register the Rwsxa60.ocx (i'm using oracle report 6i) in the PC? So can i use this activeX control.
    3. Is this activeX control similar to Crystal report object which can found in VB?
    4. Is there an example/guide on how the Visual Basic pass the parameter to oracel form?
Your answer will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • When to use webdynpro for developing reports instead of ABAP Editor in R/3

    Hello Frends,
I am new to Webdynpro ABAP. I just wanted to know when we should used webdnpro ABAP for developing reports, instead of using ABAP Editor in R/3. If you can give me the details it will be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Regards.

    Hi navnetha,
As mishbah told you , that there is no hard and fast rule for reporting throught  webdynpro. It all depends on client requirement .Now if you want to develope alll the reports by using webdynpro without your clients request , then you need to explain the advantages of webdynpro reporting above abap reporting.
for e.g.  Webdynpro reports can run on browser, They can be posted on portal, Easy handling and maintenance and reusability.
Other than this i guess if you can show some business profit to the client, then i think every client would like to go for webdynpro reporting.

  • How to develop report

Can anybody explane me how to develop report in BI Publisher. I have Oracle Databse 10G installed. and BIP Destop is intalled. I am comparing it with Oracle Report Builder. I am use to develop report in oracle report builder.
I open the MS-Word and there's only a bar with some buttons. Like oracle report builder where to write SQL query, Define functions, Define summary columns etc?

This is the 64000 dollar question! - the desktop is for building the report template - before you can do that you need to generate the XML data file to be formatted. If you want to replace the output from an existing reports module, then the easiest way is to change the output type to XML, run the report and save the output file.
This is also a good way to get some practice with the desktop tool.
If it is a new report, then you have a number of options to generate the XML., such as output from PL/SQL.

  • Best practice: Developing report in Rich Client or InfoView?

    Hi Experts,
I have a question on the best practice of developing webi reports.
From what I know, a Webi report can be created in Rich Client and then exported to one or more folders. From InfoView, the report can also be changed, but the change is only local to the folder.
To simplify development and maintenance, I believe both creation and change should be done solely in either Rich Client or InfoView. However, some features are only available in InfoView, not in Rich Client. One example is hyperlink for another Webi report. As a second step, I can add the extra features in InfoView after the export. However, if I change the report in Rich Client and re-export it, the extra features added via InfoView (e.g. report hyperlink) will be overwritten.
As I'm new to BO, may I have some recommendations on the best practice for building reports? For instance:
    1) Only in Rich Client - no adding of feature via InfoView
    2) First in Rich Client, then in InfoView - extra features need to be added again after each export
    3) Only in InfoView -  all activities done in InfoView, no development in Rich Client
    4) Others?
    Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Ramaks, George and other experts,
Thanks a lot for your replies.
For my client, the developers will build most of the reports for regular users to view. However, some power users may also create their own reports to meet ad-hoc reporting requirements.
It's quite unlikely for my client to develop reports based on Excel or CSV data files. And we need to use features such as hyperlink for documents (which is not available in Rich Client). Based on these considerations, I'm thinking of doing all development in InfoView (both developers and power users). Do you foresee any issue if I go for this approach?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Developing Report for Oracle Apps 11i

    Hi,
I am developing Reports for Oracle 11.5.8 and using Reports 6i
Are there any good documents that can guide me to develop reports exclusively for Oracle Applications
I am customizing one of the report, did a very minor modification and when I run it, it shows small square boxes in the output.
If I print it, I dont see the small boxes, Can you let me know how to avaoid this.
Aslo have a couple of questions, should I use the option "use character units in designer" or something else while developing the reports
What shold be the unit of measurement (Inches, Centimeter or Points)
Lastly, is it a good idea to "View the Grid" or not in the "layout editor"
    Thanks
    Vasanth

    Hi Vasanth,
when I run it, it shows small square boxes in the outputI can think of 2 posssibilities:
one, the width of the column in the layout is slightly smaller than required. You can try increasing the width of the layout objects where you see square boxes.
two, you are designing the report in a language for which support/font is not available on your development machine.
should I use the option "use character units in designer"This option should be used when you design a report in "character mode", not when you are designing the report in "bitmap mode". Pl see Builder Help for more information on MODE.
What shold be the unit of measurementIs it up to you to decide. If you know the dimensions of the paper (on which you are going to print) in inches for example, you can design the report in inches. Choose any unit of measurement, and then define the width and height of paper in the Header/Main/Trailer Sections in that particular unit. The report output will be the same whether you choose the paper width as 10 inches or 25.4 cm.
    Also, about point...
Point: Is a printer's type size that makes up a pica. Each pica contains twelve points and is equivalent to one-sixth of an inch.
is it a good idea to "View the Grid" or not in the "layout editor"The grid is available to help you position objects in the viewing region of the paper layout. It is helpful so you can start designing with it, but you can decide to turn it off if you do not need it.
The grid is drawn in relationship to the rulers. In the Ruler Settings dialog box, you specify the interval at which grid lines appear per unit on the ruler. For example, if you have a Unit of inches and a Grid Spacing of 0.5, there will be one grid line per half-inch on the ruler.
You get to the Ruller Settings dialog Box by choosing Tools > Options > Rulers.

  • Develop report based on INFOCUBE and ODS

    Hi,
Pls, can anybody help regarding developing reports based on INFOCUBE
    and ODS object
i am using SAP BW 7.0
what is the transaction code for reports
what are the steps to develop reports
    Thanks\
    - Mubeen.

There is no transaction code as such as you have to use the front-end application to create queries off your Cubes/ ODS.
open Bex query designer -> select info provider (cube or ods) -> drag and drop the keyfigures in columns, -> char in rows -> save.

  • Library develop report with report painter in Cost Center Accounting

    Dear experts!
Now, I'm getting some issue about finding library for developing report with report painter.
Really, i don't know libraries that are used to develop report with report painter for Cost Center Accounting.
    Can tell me about them?
    Help me, please.
    Best regards, Huy

    Hello Huy,
CCA reports would be based on table CCSS, you can go to transaction GRR2 and check the various libraries listed there and find a suitable one. You can also use libary 1AB which contains the various cost center variance reports or you can use transaction GR21 to create your own library.

  • How to download Taxonomies For XBRL to develop reports in Hyperion FR?

    Hi All !
Can anyone pls help me in developing Reports in Hyperion Financial Reporting Using XBRL?

I believe that you 'll need to use the UK IFRS Taxonomy if you need to create reports according to UK GAAP.
Consider that the IFRS Taxonomy is a global taxonomy. The UK made its own extension from the IFRS Taxonomy.
Please check at: [http://www.ifrs.org/XBRL/Resources/XBRL+Illustrative+examples.htm] for some IFRS reports example.
As far as i know the only institution requiring to fill in XBRL is the HRMC, so you better check the HRMC Taxonomy and consider too that HRMC will request XBRL reports using Inline XBRL.
Please let me know if you need additional info.
    Cheers.

  • Developer Report and APIs

Can any body help me with the following:
We have created a Developer report and it is linked to Portal. We can run the report by specifying a parameter and it works OK. What we want to achieve is to use the API option to get the user id to drive the report.
The question is: can this be done and if so how is it specified.
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hello dear all
I am using Developer 6i and Oracle 11g all is
    happy.But some users have problems
That alone mean's that all is NOT happy :-)
Forms 6i is not certified with database 11g nor supported, even if you get it connected, no one guarantees it will work properly. and your problem is a simple example.
Best thing to do is to upgrade your Forms Application, or use Oracle 10g with Forms 6i R2 patch 18, this is a certified combination.
