Difference between Internal order & Profit centers

Hello guru's
Can you please explain in detail the diffenece between Internal orders and profit centers. As i know that, profit centers are used to find out the profit of the particular cost object or task in controlling. can we use the internal order costing for the same purpose or only for the cost accumulation?
Thanks in advance!!
Rgds,
Yatheendra Nath

Hi Yatheendra,
Profit Centre refers to the area of responsibility with in an organisation(in lay man's language you may consider it as company with in a company).Profit centre hierarchy reflects the internal structure of areas of responsibility within your company.
The main purpose of profit centre is to provide reports to management as per these responsibilty centres. It serves to calculate internal (plan and actual) results according to the period accounting approach. If the function area is specified for the data in the controlling components, you can also analyze results using the cost‑of‑sales approach. You can access the original postings from FI, CO, SD, MM, and so on directly to identify potential weaknesses.
Internal orders-An internal order is used to monitor parts of the costs, and under certain circumstances, the revenues of the organization. You can create an internal order to monitor the costs of a time-restricted job or the costs (and revenues, if required) for the production of activities. Internal orders can also be used for the long-term monitoring of costs. The SAP system enables you to monitor your internal orders throughout their entire life-cycle; from initial creation, through the planning and posting of all the actual costs, to the final settlement.
<u>Please award points if I had been of some help to you.

    Dear raj kumar,
    1. Service order and Notification: These are used for Customer Services, i.e., these are used for  processing the customer complaints regarding the equipments technical problems installed at customer locations.
In this scenario, we sell equipments to customer and also offers the services for that equipments on chargeable basis or free of cost as per sales terms and conditions.
    2. Maintenance order and Notification: These are used for Plants, i.e., for processing the complaints of the equipments which are installed within the plant.
In this scenario, we buy the equipments from the vendors and carry out the maintenance ourselves.
    Hope this will be helpful

  • Difference between sales order schedule line and item level data

    Hi All,
Could you please let me know what is the difference between sales order schedule line and item level data?
    Thanks,
    Ramya

    Hi Ramya,
Sales order schedule line contains del date, order qty, rounded qty, confirmed qty, delivery qty, schedule line category, purchase requisition etc.,  ie It contains the full details of sales order data with respect to the scheduled line of delivery.  The total quantity of a sales order item can be subdivided into schedule lines that contain the various subsets with the corresponding delivering dates.
Sales order Item level data contains details of the item in the sales order like material code, net price, net value, UoM, PO details, reason for rejection if any, material group, billing date, plant etc., ie this
contains the full details of item irrespective of scheduled line.

  • Internal order profit center change

    Hi sap gurus,
I want change the internal order profit center but when iam changing the profit center the below message is coming
You changed the profit center; see long text
    Message no. KO367
    Diagnosis
You have changed the profit center from 1110-P to 1610-P. This is only allowed when the corresponding configuration was made in Customizing. Then this message is only a warning, which you can ignore.
    Procedure
If you want to make it possible to change the profit center, you should change this message from an error message into a warning. To do this choose Adjust message control (Application area "KO", message number "367").
When you change the profit center, the last period should be settled and since then no more postings should have been made.
    Notes
Order values can already have been updated on the profit center you are assigning to. For the new assignment, only the new order values on the profit center you are now assigning to are posted.
If an order is assigned to a profit center and the "Integrated Planning" indicator is set, plan costs can be updated in the future on the old profit center.

    Hi,
Changing profit centre assignment to internal order has certain consequences, which are partially listed in the message. So, the system gives you a choice to forbid this kind of action or allow by making the message only a warning. If you want to do so, go to OBA5 transaction, enter the 'KO' as application area and change the parameters for 367 message.
    Regards,
    Eli

    Hi Kumar,
coming to customization in between SO(Rush order) and OR(Standard order).
    Go to VOV8 T.Code.
The Rush order has the details as "Under Shipping tab",
There will be "X" mark in the immediate delivery .
the Rush order will be having the order related billing.
But the Standard order can be either Order related or Delivery related.
In Standard order after creating the order we are going to create the order we are going to create the delivery by using "VL01n" T.Code.After that we are going to create the billing by using "VF01" T.Code.

  • Difference between process order and Production order

    Hi Experts,
Can any buddy tell me the difference between process order and production order. Why process order is used for process industries. Why do we use recipe for it and routing for production order ?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit
There is a difference between production order and process order.
Supposing a 10,000 lit tank is being manufactured in discrete manufacturing. You have to follow the necessary routing steps and can make by physically seeing its development stage by stage. For this type production you can have a production order.
In case of process of order if some chemical in a reactor is loaded with intial temp of 30 C and need to be heated to 80 C then there is phase change. Hence we use Heating as an operation and the change of temp is phase. For such type of process we process order.
Hope this is useful. Pl reward.

  • Difference between settlement order and standing order

Can someone state the difference between standing order and settlement order with examples in the organization tab of equioment.

    Hi,
    Standing Order
Standing orders are used to carry out on-going maintenance jobs and settle them at month end rather than creating a fresh PM order every time. Using order hierarchies, you could attach sub-orders to the standing order and settle them to the standing order to provide you with more precise recording of maint costs at sub-order level as well as a budget monitoring at the standing order level.

  • Difference between incomplete order and backorder processing

What is the difference between incomplete order and backorder processing.

    Hi,
Incomplete order is an order in which all the fileds(To which the Incompletion procedure is assigned) are not filled before saving the sales order.Using backorder processing, you can list sales documents relevant for requirements for particular materials and confirm them manually. You can assign available-to-promise (ATP) stock to outstanding order quantities. In addition, you can withdraw already confirmed quantities and reassign them to different items. This means If the stock of a material has been confirmed to a particular order or delivery, and after that you have recieved an order which ahs to be delivered immediately , then you can change the stock allottment of the previous order to this new order using back order processing. The transaction code for this is "V_RA". Transaction code to see which incompletion procedure is assigned to your sales order type is "VUA2" And to see the Incompletion procedure itself is "OVA2". Kindly please let me know If you need any more information on this.

  • Difference between sales order and credit order

    Hi friends,
can any explain about difference between sales order and credit order in SAP.
    Thanks and Regards.

    Hi Narayana,
This Depends upon your Client Requirement.
If you are using the Credit Management to your client. then you maintain certain checks like Simple Credit, Automatic Credit at Sales Order Level.
If the Client want a seperate Document type for Credit Sales and Normal Sales if having Purpose.
Other wise you can use only one Document type for both, because in Standard Sap, For Cash Sale have seperate Document type.
    Please Reward If Really Helpful,
    Thanks and Regards,

  • "difference between sales order and scheduling agreement "

    hi,
i want to know difference between sales order and scheduling agreement and where use scheduling agreement & where sales order ?
    please help
    amit

    Hi Amit,
Its not hard to find this info at help.sap.com
    Sales Order
Definition: Request from a customer to a company to deliver a defined quantity of products or provide a service at a certain time. The sales area that accepts the inquiry is responsible for completing the agreement.
    Scheduling Agreements
    Purpose
A customer scheduling agreement is an outline agreement with the customer containing delivery quantities and dates. These are then entered as schedule lines in a delivery schedule. You can either create schedule lines when you create the scheduling agreement or you can create them later.
You fulfill a scheduling agreement by creating the deliveries in the schedule as they become due. You process deliveries for a scheduling agreement in exactly the same way as you process a normal delivery. After you have carried out the delivery, the system updates the Delivered quantity field in the scheduling agreement item with the delivery quantity. The following graphic shows the document flow for scheduling agreements.
    Integration
You would use this component if you had outline agreements with the customer that contained future delivery quantities of materials that would be sent at certain times within a fixed time period.
If you work with scheduling agreements for the component supplier industry you also need to choose the "Electronic Data Interchange" (EDI) component.
