Digikam theme in kf5

Hello!
I am using plasma5 and currently experiencing selection color mismatch between kde4/kf5 apps and digikam's "dark breeze":
http://postimg.org/image/4t707eqrr/
So... in all apps I have my system color as a selection color, in digikam system colors are applied only with 'default' scheme.
I would really like to set gray selection color for "dark breeze", but theme editor only available with kdebase-workspace package installed and it is in conflict with my current environment:
:: kdebase-workspace and kdeplasma-addons-frameworks are in conflict. Remove kdeplasma-addons-frameworks? [y/N] y
:: kdebase-workspace and khotkeys are in conflict. Remove khotkeys? [y/N] y
:: kdebase-workspace and kinfocenter are in conflict. Remove kinfocenter? [y/N] ^C
and so on...
So far the selection color is the only thing I want to change, afterwards I'll wait for kf5 port of digikam.
May be anyone can help me locate configs of digikam's dark breeze theme and change the right value?

Hi Guys,
Any idea on this one?
Has anyone done this? are there any SAP Note for this?
Regards,
Ashish

  • [SOLVED] kf5 broke Qt5 Theme Conformance

I upgraded to KDE Frameworks 5, and Qt5 apps (transmission-qt for example) no longer use qtcurve nor appropriate icons, but rather fall back on what I assume is the default theme and Oxygen icons. It was working fine before kf5.
    I've tried launching with -style=qtcurve, and with QT-STYLE-OVERRIDE=qtcurve; no-go.

  • Gnome mouse pointer theme in kde apps

i use gnome as DE and i wish to see the pointer theme i use in GTK apps in QT apps as well. Actually when my pointer goes on an QT app like digikam it switches to default mouse pointer which is so ugly..

    This is my ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
    [Settings]
    gtk-font-name=Sans Serif 9
    gtk-theme-name=oxygen-gtk
    gtk-icon-theme-name=KFaenza
    gtk-fallback-icon-theme=KFaenza
    gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_ICONS
    gtk-menu-images=1
    gtk-button-images=1
    And... no luck
Also in the index.theme of KFaenza I have:
    [Icon Theme]
    Name=KFaenza
Comment=Icon theme project with tilish style, by Tiheum, KDE port
Comment[el]=Θέμα εικονιδίων σε ψηφιδωτό στυλ για το KDE

  • Not-latin font rendering is broken in Kf5 applications

    Hello.
After upgrading of KDE4 applications to Kf5 ones, I have the font rendering problem in them.
    It's looks like that:
As you can see, rendering of cyrillic fonts is broken. Absolutely wrong font family (should be Terminus) and font size.
In KDE4 apps font rendering works correctly.
Do someone have any suggestions how can I fix this?

I can see picture without any problems. May be it is regional-specific problem of image hosting.

  • Digikam update - should I look for a (slimmer) replacement?

    Hi!
I'm using Xfce and Digikam, so I have a few parts of the kde libs installed to make it work. Today I was checking the packages to be updated, and there's a new version of digikam. The thing is, that it comes with 320Mb other stuff, needed by kdegraphics, kdepimlibs, and kdelibs.
Since it's an EeePC, I don't have much space anyway, and been wondering, is this 320Mb a replacement of some of the libraries (thus not entirely newly occupied space) or pure "fattening"? Because if I need >300Mb just to download the pictures from my camera, then maybe it's time to look for something slimmer....
Or can digikam compiled such that it's include all necessary libraries and won't need all the ballast?
      Cheers!

ise wrote:the "problem" is that digikam needs libkexiv2 and libkdcraw, both libraries are provided by kdegraphics. kdepimlibs is needed for some plugins in kipi-plugins and kdelibs is needed because of kdegraphics. No way to have this thing smaller. I'm not so happy with the dependencies, too, but no way to make it smaller. Maybe you find the standalone libraries on the internet and you can compile against them, but since KDE4 those were included into kdegraphics.
If there's no way to make it smaller, then there's some serious problem with this dependency-web. I mean there are a number of 3rd degree dependencies even (e.g. kdegraphics  -> ebook-tools -> libzip) just to get it work...
Is it because of the internal reorganization of the KDE4 libraries?
    ise wrote:Smaller/slimmer replacements could be:
    f-spot (needs mono)
    gthumb
Cheers for the suggestions. f-spot looks better.but it comes with 120Mb "package" of dependencies. The previous digikam is 33Mb, the new 320Mb, gthumb is 8Mb...
Tried gthumb, and it's pretty bare - but that's mostly what I'd need anyway, a downloader. If it had a way to show which pictures were already downloaded and which are new, then it would be total sweetness. So maybe I'll check out some source code later...
userlander wrote:Try gtkam in XFCE4. It's very light.
gtkam - 1.5Mb, very light indeed, maybe a bit too much. I'd prefer not to manually browse through the directories on the camera. Will check it out a bit more, though, it was just a quick look. Thanks!
a0peter wrote:ou could take a look at Intipunku. It is not in AUR, if I had the skills I would do a packagebuild, but I'm still very new to Arch.
Thanks! It looks interesting, I'll put together a PKGBUILD hopefully over the weekend and let you know.

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Is there any way to fix it? I also tried uninstalling Digikam and kipi-plugins, now I cannot install them back again.

    Seems it's a bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25346
The problem got fixed in version 2.0.0-2 which should arrive in the repos shortly.

  • [Solved] Kde4 theme on plasma-next

    Hi
I  Installed plasma-next kf5 and so on today. Since the kde base apps like dolphin and kate and konsole weren't available on qt5 I install ed the kde4 versions of them. No matter what I change the theme to those qt4 apps are stuck on oxygen. I have breeze-kde4 installed. Gtk2 and Gtk3 have no issues. Whenever I open dolphin it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I have tried deleting the .kde folder to no effect.

    Hello,
With /usr/bin/qtconfig-qt4  you can choose "Breeze" as GUI Style for qt4 apps.

  • KF5 - plasmashell crash

    Hi everyone,
Since an update, which was roughly 3 weeks ago, plasmashell is very unstable. It crashes in less than five minutes! (so I am using KDE plasma-next, aka KF5, that I updated according to the wiki).
At first, I thought it could be fixed by an update (has it happens sometime with the rolling-release model), or by resetting the configuration, but it did not. So, the last 3 weeks, I spent some time to look around to figure out what could be the problem, but I didn't find anything relevant, and at some point, I need a working KDE environment. So here I am, to ask you some help!
So, everytime, the symptoms are the same:
neither the plasmashell desktop nor the taskbar is not responsive anymore/
Every already running applications are working fine. That means that if I am running kwrite, konsole, libreoffice at the same time, non of them crashes.
    I can still
And a (not that fun) thing: I cannot highlight text without making an application crash (I think it is because the text is supposed to access Klipper in the taskbar, which is not responsive). It is a bit annoying, because it doesn't help to
if I kill plasmashell and launch it again in konsole, everything work again until the next crash. After a certain number of loop killing and launching, everything crash...
I try to change the configuration several times (by removing ~./config, ~./kde, ~/kde4). It did nothing good, except loosing time.
Sometime, after the plasmashell crash, KWallet pops up and ask to be reconfigured
My laptop is up to date. And I don't think it could be related to a graphic card driver problem:
My laptop is 4 years old, and nouveau-dri is working fine on it since the very beginning.
    The other applications runs perfectly
    Gnome works without any problem.
I didn't notice any driver update at the same time I had this problem
I don't think it is a kwin issue, since everything else is working perfectly. Besides, I tried to change the composer setting several times, but it did nothing good. Also, I can still navigate around the windows and desktops through the usual shortcuts.
Also, there is nothing useful in ~/.xsession-error, /var/log/Xorg.0.log, dmesg. Also, when I launch plasmashell in the konsole, nothing useful shows up in the konsole.
So, do you have any idea of how to fix the problem? At this stage, every new idea to track the bug will be very appreciated. Also, if you want more details on the problem, don't hesitate to ask.
    Thank you for your time!

Thank you ChemBro for your reply.
Unfortunately, it doesn't happen once a day, but roughly every 5 minutes (even less sometimes). So it is very boring, and the problem could be elsewhere. When it happens everyday, the issue can come from various sources, like memory leaks. But it can occur in 3 minutes. It is way too fast for that, and some other applications would probably crash in the meantime... That is not the case.
Besides, I find nothing on https://bugs.kde.org related to that.
I've been on KDE IRC to know what could be the problem. Nobody seemed to know. They advised me to file a bug, that I am going to do. I will give you the result.

  • Digikam with f-spot like folders [solved]

okay, so I did open my photo collection with f-spot, too see where it is these days. Bad thing is, I let it copy over the photo collection while importing, resulting in a folder structure year/month/date. I kinda liked this structure and deleted the original photo collection.
Now I did not like f-spot so much, so back to digikam. Problem is, digikam makes of these folders seperate albums, which is obviously not what you want if each day is a folder.
Now is there any way for either digikam to work with this folder structure or exporting it to another folder, or should I just write a little script ?

  • Digikam doesn't sturt, bus error

    Hi,
I'm running kdemod 4.3, started by GDM and I've tried the digikam in the repos and digikam-beta from AUR.
With both if I first start them the wizard is shown but the application itself never. Any following start results in a "bus error". I don't know what exactly is meant by this. Dbus is running.. but I don't know how to find out if it works properly or if it is the problem.
    Can anybody help me?
    thx

    There was no problem.
Dependency tree goes like this (roughly): digikam -> kdegraphics/kdepimlibs -> kdelibs -> stuff like phonon/soprano/strigi -> qt
So for pacman, there was no qt dependency involved at all for the digikam upgrade.
Thank you, that restores my full trust in pacman (the main, but not only, reason why I prefer Arch over all that *buntu stuff out there... ). But it also means that the rolling release system adopted by Arch is prone to this kind of errors (a very fair trade, in my opinion, since pacman is easily the best package manager I've ever seen).

  • Pure and fast photo tagging application to replace digikam?

    Hello,
after all the aKonadi related mess I've finally left KDE - now I'm a very happy Awesome user, wondering why I had not discovered it earlier.
So far I've replaced most of my 'unreplaceable' stuff, like kmail, kile and k3b. The last and only thing that forces me to use kdelibs with all the dependencies is Digikam.
I use it, hovewer, in a very narrow way - only to tag images and (later) search them. As I work only with RAWs, my workhorse is RawTherapee, which - unortunately - has no database features.
So I'm looking for an application which could replace Digikam in its tagging-and-searching role. It doesn't need to have any photo importing/editing/exporting features, but it should be able to manage the tags database well, as my way of organizing photos is tag-centered.
Does such application exist? I've done some searching, but so far the only one that seems to fit my needs is... Digikam
I'm stuck with this problem, so all hints will be very appreciated
    greetings,
    Paweł

Well, I won't say you're totally wrong, because I can agree with your argumentation in some points.
From my point of view, however, you made wrong assumptions.
When F-Spot, digiKam, KPhotoAlbum and so on exist, why should someone waste developing time to write a new one instead to increase the usability of the existing one?
    1) F-Spot and Digikam are big applications, with image importing, editing and exporting features. I don't need this functionality. Tagging and searching is everything I am looking for.
A GTK+ version of KPhotoAlbum - that's my target, I think. And I'm very surprised that it doesn't yet exist.
If I used all features of Digikam, I'd probably won cry about it's dependencies.
    2) People do really write new applications similar to those which exist. Look how many window managers, image viewers, web browsers - and even programming languages! - we have now. If you had been right, we would still be using Mosaic 19 or Netscape Navigator 11 to browse the web.
And the web browsers are good example I think. We already had Firefox and Opera, but then Chromium arised, and many people found it to be better. And I personally use jumanji.
It's all about having the choice.
When you decide to use a lightweight environment you also have to accept that you dont have much features.
    3) In fact I use this light environment (Awesome) because it better fits to my needs. It is extremely fast, it has proper multihead implementation, it supports tiling perfectly, it is easy scriptable with lua... Neither KDE nor Gnome can compete in these categories.
I'm not a kind of person who likes to complicate his life, but after transition from KDE i clearly see that I have more important features here, and my environment is closer to perfect now.
And in my search of purity, simplicity, but also usability I currently have only one, last obstacle - the photo tagging application

  • Kde4 kf5 and plasma next

Hello, i am a bit confused about DE kde. I have the last update of kde4 (4.14.0) available for Arch. But i know it is already available kf5 too. So i should wait a new update that will convert kde4.14 to kf5 sooner or later, or i should install kf5 since now? And for plasma next? thank you!

    caligula wrote:
blauman wrote:so there will be an update from kde4 to new version 5 sooner or later?
    Eventually.
The current situation is somewhat confusing - you can no longer refer to "KDE" as a single application package, so "KDE 5" is meaningless.
There are now three different pieces of software you can consider "KDE":
    * KDE Frameworks - the base libraries. These are now at stable version 5.0.1
    * KDE Applications - the apps you know & love such as dolphin, ark, etc etc. These are now at version 4.14, and will be gradually upgraded to 5.x. By this time next year they should all be at 5.x.
    * Plasma - Plasma is the actual desktop shell. It encompasses the desktop, widgets, activities, panels, etc etc.  Plasma is now at version 5, but the new packages are not yet available for arch in binary form - only in the AUR.
thank you caligula, now it is a little more clear. So a kde user should wait the kde applications and plasma update to 5. But about kf5? i have seen that if i try to install kf5, the system make me replace my old versions to the new. it is convenient replace them now?

  • Digikam, camera connects on select machine only?

This is a strange problem... I have within use two desktop machines and a laptop.
The laptop is a fresh install of Arch .8 and works wonderful with Digikam and my Canon SD800IS camera.
The two desktops are older 7.2 installs and are constantly kept up to date with pacman. They both auto detect the camera, however, unlike when I have the camera connected to my laptop, they fail on trying to connect to the camera. I'm clueless as to why. All machines with my user name belong to the camera group, and like I said, are up to date with udev, and use the latest kernel26beyond kernel. I'd hate to do a fresh install of .8 on either machines as they are both how I like them.
Does anyone have any idea what this could possibly be? I'm totally stumped, and had not luck with the bug reports, forums, or even google
Thanks in advance for any help if you can,

Maybe you have an old udev rule lying around that messes things up. Compare the group ownership/permissions of the device created when you plug in the camera.
Users are identical. I tried adding everything except root and still it doesn't work. I even reinstalled on one desktop and the problem is still there. It's not setting permissions right. I'm not sure where to go with this at this point.

  • Digikam - Detected locked database file

    Hello!
I have problem with Digikam. Konsole reports this:
digikam(1153)/digikam (core) Digikam::DatabaseCoreBackendPrivate::checkRetrySQLiteLockError: Detected locked database file. There is an active transaction. Waited but giving up now.
Digikam opens normally, I can see my albums, but when I click on one of them, nothing happens. Path to my Pictures is /data/Pictures [on my second hdd]. I tried everything what I could think of, but no success.
    My system:
    - KDE 5
    - Kernel  4.0.4-2-ARCH x86_64
    - digikam 4.9.0-2
    - kipi-plugins 4.9.0-2
    - fully updated
    My digikamrc:
    [Database Settings]
    Database Connectoptions=
    Database Hostname=
    Database Name=/data/Pictures/
    Database Name Thumbnails=/data/Pictures/
    Database Password=
    Database Port=-1
    Database Type=QSQLITE
    Database Username=
    Internal Database Server=false
What is locking the database? Any thoughts?

    Hi all
    Found it.
It was a MenuCalendarClock upgrade and nothing to do with Leopard per se.
    Kind Regards

  • Blank windows on minimise and restore with compiz on kf5

    Hi,
Since I have updated to kf5, I am experiencing a problem with windows being blank except for the titlebar when I minimise and then restore them. I use compiz-core 0.8.10-1. If minimise and restore the window several times then I can get the window to redraw correctly, but it seems random as to when it redraws correctly and when it is blank. This does not seem to only happen in firefox, so far I have noticed this to happen with konsole, thunderbird and several other programs. Here is a screenshot of when it looks like when it is blank:
I have tried creating a new user and just enabling compiz, but the problem still occurs.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

I have exactly the same problem with my 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen and have tried everything you have with no success (see http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2531624&tstart=0)
It's definitely due to the itunes 9.2 update in June. I get the same itunes restore and sync errors you have on Windows Vista and Windows 7. It only starts restoring and syncing properly on Windows XP. I've tried downgrading to an itunes version that worked for me on Vista before, but Apple have updated the ipod touch firmware so that its not supported anymore by the earlier versions of itunes.
Apple phone support is a waste of time. They want to charge me £25 before they are interested in helping as they say my ipod is out of warranty - but its not the ipod that's broken, its the poorly written ITUNES, so why shouldn't I get free support for itunes even though my IPOD, which is perfectly fine, is out of warranty?!
Truth is, now apple has your money, they don't care...
