Disappointing NOKIA

I had ordered a NOKIA Lumia 800 The Dark Knight Rises Edition phone (order no. 8000038443) on 11th August 2012 through the Nokia Shop Online. The suggested date for arrival on my order page was 18th August 2012. Today is 25th August 2012, and I have yet not recieved the device. My complaint no. is 24367.
Each time I call up, innumerable apologies and excuses are given and I false promises are made that the issue would be resolved soon. When I am told that I would recieve a call the next morning, I have to call them back in the evening, next day, telling them how I waited for their call the whole day. When I ask to speak with someone of higher authority (like a manager, etc.), I get denied first place, and the customer care person says that they don't have the authority/permission to do that. What kind of nonsensical talk is this?!
I am very disappointed with the service. I was expecting so much more from Nokia. Furthermore, I would like to add that if I do not recieve the product by 28th August 2012, I will approach CONSUMER COURT. Just because you guys have taken all the money from credit card beforehand, you have the right to treat a customer so badly?
Also, I want appropriate compensation for the delay caused. I don't care whose mistake it is, its not mine. So Nokia is collectively responsible and therefore I want compensation with the product (not in terms of vouchers or coupons).
Awaiting an early response,

  • Disappointing Nokia Drive+ battery charging experi...

We have many threads about the phone dropping charge while on the charger so I decided to order a good quality 2.1 amp charger and use it with the OEM cable.
I drove a route that takes about 18-20 minutes with the charger and I gained about 8% battery charge in the process.  This was actually quite good compared to some previous driving chargers.
Then I returned on the same route with Nokia Drive+ turned on.  This is the updated version that was just released today.  By the time my route was over I lost 4% battery charge while on the charger.
To contrast, I can run waze (3D turn by turn nav app) on my iPhone 4 and gain charge at the same time.

I've had a few more mixed results.  However, I'm not sure if is app version related.
Yesterday I updated Nokia Drive+ from a link posted on WPCentral as they reported the update before it hit the store.  That is what I ran my first test on.  Then the app store notified me about an update again.  It reinstalled for a second time.  This time my settings had to also be reset.
Anyway, the next time I tested the battery usage I acutally gained some charge for the first half and then I lost the charge again for a net wash on battery charge.  What was interesting is the half of the trip where I gained charge was rather slow driving.
The next run I did I lost 1% charge but the phone didn't get super hot either.

  • Nokia e72 and where did the memory go????

New Nokia e72, after the disappointing Nokia E75 i really didn`t expect Nokia to release another unfinished phone!
Dont get me wrong, great Phone the E72, solid hardware, but it has the same memory problem found in other nokia devices. 42 M at start up. Tried to go on the internet with the build in browser, 2 big flash sites like CNN and sadly the memory was down to between 356 K to 1 M, and the phone didn´t react anymore. After shuting down the browser, the E72 had 42 M in free memory again. It's the same story when using Spotify or Youtube.
Is there any one else with the same problem?  What will/can Nokia do about it?
    Best regards

I am using the program PhoNetInfo to check for available RAM.  Find it at http://www.patrickfrei.ch/phonetinfo/index.html.  Not sure if there's an easier solution?  You will need to follow the instructions to have it signed at http://symbiansigned.com for it to work.
As for the main thread, I am using an E73, which is basically the same as an E72.  Memory was one of the shortcomings I knew about when buying the phone, but so far I have hit only one browser "Out of memory" error.  Guess the sites I use either have a mobile version or simply aren't so memory intensive?  But I might look at this problem from the other perspective.  Unless they're loaded with pictures, web sites that trigger "Out of memory" are probably obscenely FAT!  I marvel at the design of certain modern web sites.  It's as if the programmers get paid by line of code, or are in competition to win this year's Rube Goldberg prize, for the most unnecessarily complicated invention.  Try downloading such a web site over a dial-up connection.  In this case, the problem is totally different, but the resulting frustration is the same.  And IMHO, the cause is the same: BAD DESIGN.  Simpler is better for visitors and both cheaper and easier to maintain.
Has anybody tried the Skyfire?  While it likely has some problems of its own, I assume it will work around a straightforward "Out of memory" error...because it's not a real web browser?

  • Nokia C7-00 Keeps Restarting in a loop,

    Hi,
I updated my Nokia C7-00 to Belle update on 9th Feb, 2012 and i have been having some damn serous trouble with it, despite of a huge waiting time for it's arrival, it was said that Nokia is trying to make it as flawless as possible, but i don't get the thing that why is my C7-00 re-starting so often, i.e every minute or two, i have FLASHED to original C7-00 4 times, can you imagine 4 times FLASHED.
I am damn not happy to what's going on, as soon as i start to open 3-4 apps, phone just gives up and goes back to it's restart and comes back to main home screen.
Specially when i open apps like QuickOffice Pro, Adobe Reader etc...
I am at all not happy with what's going on, and want Nokia to address it's restart issues by the end of the Feb atmost, otherwise i have no option other than to trash it.
Extra Apps Installed on Device by me
Opera Mobile, cuteTue, fMobi, Mr. Applock, Fruit Ninja, Swype
And, 1 more thing everytime the device is restarted it loses all it's configuration of the single, contacts image display on the homescreen, single and multiple favourites contacts get lost from the screen, and i have to re-add them manually.
I am very very disappointed Nokia, didn't expect this type of problems to show up..

Hey djluv, Apologies that you are experiencing this problem!
Have you fully the device or performed a hard reset? If flashing your devices please take your phone to a Nokia Care Point to flash your device as using third party flashing software can potentially cause damage.
Please be sure you have also installed the latest version of Nokia Suite and have tried re-installing the software via USB in Nokia Suite.
I hope this helps, and we hope to resolve your issue as swiftly as possible.

  • Nokia E63:no data cable.

I purchased nokia e63 on the first day of the launch. When i came home and opened the box i was disappointed, Nokia is selling a business class phone without a connectivity cable that's really unacceptable. I spent 1,200/- more on the cable. I purchased it from a nokia priority dealer but a got the cable without any box. How can i verify the cable i purchased is original? If Nokia give the cable in box then it will obviously be original and i wouldn't mind paying couple of thousands extra. It was really unacceptable. I am using a lot of nokia phones like Nokia N95 , Nokia N73 , Nokia 1650 but if i get this kind of disappointment from nokia then i have to go for some other brands.

i was to choose between e51 & e63...& e51 had a data cable included in the box while e63 didn't...thats what i came to know from the website...
after visiting the nokia priority shop...i got a confirmation to this...
then i visited another nokia shop, they said that red e63 has a data cable included blue one doesn't...thats coz blue one is more preferred by people...
i went to another shop to buy e63...they said that in new stock even blue ones have data cable included in the box...
unfortunately blue ones are out of stock...
i bought a red one, it came with a data cable...

  • Nokia Suite features request

Please add to your Nokia Suite the following abilities:
    - to reinstall/update individual applications, including the ones pre-installed, based on users choice;
    - to browse Nokia Ovi Store by manufacturers also;
    - to be displayed the date of uploaded/updated applications in Nokia Store;
    - to be displayed the size of applications in Nokia Store.

  • I doubt you NOKIA guys want to hear this but.........

.........I moved from a Blackberry Curve to an E71 on the assurance by the Three salesman it would be better. WHAT A MISTAKE.
The menus are impenetrable compared to blackberry, the battery life is less than one day when my curve would go for three days without a recharge and why oh why do you have so many shortcut buttons? Bring back my trackwheel please.
I'd like my money back and go out and buy a nice new workhorse BB Curve....but I bet you won't.
    REALLY DISAPPOINTED NOKIA REALLY DISAPPOINTED.

    Hi jasjas,
you are aware that the Nokia guys are most probably not following this forum? It´s for customers only afaIk. There might be someone from Nokia staff occasionally, but I guess there are simpler ways to deliver feedback on a device.
I guess that Salesman probably wanted to sell his gadgets? What do you expect? Everybody has to earn money and a Salesman will always tell you that whatever they have in stock is better than what you already have...

  • E61i's bad s/w!!

Don't know if Nokia ppl are taking a note of the messages being posted here. I live in India and i just recently bought an E61i. Since then, even though i kinda love this ph but i'm disappointed to see a real **bleep**py s/w loaded on this device! I dont know how can Nokia release such a product with a prototype-grade s/w. Yes, the s/w hadn't matured enough to be productized. The s/w version of my set may be little old. And the latest may be some 2.xx.xxx. I know i will be advised to upgrade the s/w if i talk to Nokia but the fact remains, ppl have already cribbed and verified (saw in some other threads) that latest s/w also is of no use! Then!! what is the way out??
There are too many problems in this ph. Actually way too many to describe and write them here. Overall, I'm very disappointed Nokia!
just listing couple of problems here
    (1) UI refresh rate is too bad! moving from one screen to another screen, you can see screen is not updated smoothly!
    (2) response is very slow!
    (3) It took a whole evening for me to transfer my contacts from previous ph to this one and then update them properly the way i want. i faced some inconvenience here as the Contacts options didn't allow me to change the type of the ph number from mobile to teleph! i had go a round about way!
    (4) after spending a whole evening on contacts, today morning i just installed and uninstalled BB. and i found while uninstalling BB, all my contacts are wiped out! Can you imagine???
NOKIA!! what's going on with you?? where are you getting this s/w from??

My problem with my Nokia E61i.
    1. I am using SplashID to record my notes. Its terrible slow compare to my old palm treo 600. I read an url last night that 1 user said, he try splashid in SonyErricson and seems much faster than in Nokia. So must be something different in Nokia Symbian S60 compare to SE Symbian UIQ
    2. If I surfing to website www.detik.com using 3G, after several time it will quit itself
    3. Sometime it restart itself
    I am using FW 2.0633.65.01
But because I use voip so much in e61i, I have to stick with it, maybe if iphone 3g launched, I'll change to it.
Hope Nokia improve their Symbian stability
    thanks

  • 1208 working in the GSM networks in the U.S.?

Question: any idea whether the 1208 model would work in the U.S. GSM networks?
On the sales package I got there is this marking
"GSM 900/1800 EGSM850/1900" which I believe indicates that it should work in the GSM networks in the U.S.
When I tried the online phone feature comparing tool on nokia.com, it's also indicated there that the frequency bands include 850/1900.
But the user guide of my phone (9202384/Issue 3 EN) says
"The wireless device described in this guide is approved for use on the GSM 900 and GSM 1800 networks."
That is, the phone would not work on the 850/1900 bands.
    So which info is correct?
    Thanks

    Hi guys,
I found your posts and got strongly interested in.
I'm on a business trip in Canada. I bought Nokia 1208 in Russia, my service provider is also in Russia and gives me international roaming including a one in Canada.
The operating frequencies mentioned on the phone wrapping are exactly the same as “pafr” wrote above. And the ones mentioned in the user guide (2 ones) are the same as “pafr” has in his own guide with the only difference: my user guide is in Russian
The trouble is the phone is not working in Canada. It writes "No network coverage". The phone worked in Russia but it isn’t in Canada.
When I was buying the device, I asked the vendor whether it would work in Canada, and they answered YES. Having faced with the issue, I asked Nokia Support (at their site) what’s wrong with it. But they answered the phone should work and no actual help.
A friend of mine has got Motorola. He also bought the phone in Russia and has international roaming here, in Canada. He took his phone with him to Canada on a business trip too. It works. I borrowed his phone and inserted my SIM card into it. With my SIM card inserted in his phone, the network was immediately found (Rogers). Our location is Belleville, Ontario. Then we put his SIM-card in my Nokia 1208 and it didn't work either. So, it's not an issue with service provider. The service works indeed. It's the issue with the phone itself (Nokia 1208).
I’ve got an expert opinion that the phone is dual band but it comes in two versions, one for USA/Canada (GSM 850-1900) and one for Europe (GSM 900-1800). Obviously I have the European version, so... To my deep disappointment, Nokia Support (neither Canadian nor Russian) did not manage to agree with that and continue answering my phone should work in Canada. That’s all “help” I have had from them. This is extremely strange that Nokia look incompetent with their own product.
Do you know if there’s any chanсe to make my phone work? My be it needs some kind of initial activation, so that it could work then? How did “pafr” make their Nokia work?

  • Ovio Suit stopped syncing with C6

I recently bought a C6 and set up Ovi Suite to sync with Outlook.
Everything worked a few times but now Ovi Suite does not sync anymore.
It shows a Sync All button but nothing happens when I click on it.
The Last Synced dates remain stuck at 6 days ago.
I repaired then reinstalled Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23
When I clicked Sync Now a breif message appeared saying Sync Cancelled.
The Last Synced dates then appear, and are still stuck at 6 days ago.
The phone has the latest device software - updated, then re-installed. 11.0.029
I am running WIndows XP SP3.
If the sync doesnt work the phone is useless to me.
Looking in Google lots of people seem to be unhappy with Ovi Suite and switching back to PC Suite.
Any thoughts? It is incredible frustratin not to mention a waste of time. Please please please help before I start regretting this purchase decision.
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The problem has recurred.
I could sync twice. Then everything got "stuck" again.
Clicking on any of the Sybc buttons did nothing. No response. No reactions.
    The sync date/time is unchanged.
I ran the Ovi installer and repaired the software. Took AGES. Restarted.
Re-paired the phone (cumbersome, annoying, and had to reset all the preferences).
Clicked on Sync All and the indicators changed to "Waiting to be synced..."
    No actions. Nothing.
Even if I had to re-pair the phone everytime before sync is a no-go solution. As to reinstalling Ovi and re-pairing every time? No way...
    (vent)
Is it time to declare this an official waste of time?
Should I go back to PC Suite? And just never ever boher upgradingeither the software or the phone?
I am seriously SERIOUSLY disappointed Nokia. This is now looking like my last Nokia phone ever. As I mentioned, if I cannot sync, I may as well use a cheapie $50 phone just for calling and move the note taking elsewhere.

  • Disappointed in Nokia

I'm quite disappointed in Nokia. I've been a loyal Nokia customer for over 10 years, and I'm on my 5th Nokia phone. But this will probably be my last.
I bought my Nokia 5800 several months ago, and found it to be quite a good phone. I then found in the Nokia Beta Labs that there was an app available for Facebook and Twitter, so I installed it. The software was great, and I used it every day. This made it the best phone I ever had, and an amazing alternative to the iPhone. Ya, the app had a few bugs, but they were bearable. But recently I discovered that the app was being discontinued. Not just abandoned, but removed from the site completely. Yes, they had warned that this may happen, but the beta was so good that it felt like it would be continued and released as a full app. Even worse, there's no quality replacement for Facebook or Twitter on the Ovi Store. My phone has now lost a HUGE amount of its functionality. It used to be a great phone, now it's only a decent phone.
The biggest insult, however, was that they said "Thanks for all the feedback. We'll be implementing this software in the N8." That spells it plain and clear: Nokia doesn't really care about it's current customers, it only cares about future customers. You take away functionality from my phone, and ask me to buy a new phone to get it back.
I don't know which other platform I'll be going to, but your main competitors are constantly ADDING features to existing phones, and have vibrant development communities that constantly write a wide variety of quality apps.
In the old days you could release new phones and forget about old ones, because phones were just phones back then. But now you have to support your existing phones, because phones have become everything to their users. Unless Nokia delivers a miracle in the next 18 months, I'm moving on.

Try this, you may like it, latest version is really good, and as for Beta Labs, the fact is that Beta applications are for testing and may be withdrawn, stopped or completed at any time, it's one of the downsides to being a 'beta tester', you may also like Gravity, but you have to pay for that, Socially is FREE

  • Disappointed with Nokia N8 and Belle

I have been using Nokia phones since 2000 and I was recommending it to all my friends. The last one I bought- Nokia N8 has disappointed me.
The  big + is the integrated GPS and offline maps. Excellent camera...
     Why disappointed:
     Price I paid- $ 450+.
    Since May 2011:
A big grayish spot appeared on the display after 2 weeks. Visible only when the phone is off.It does not bother me but still this phone is $450.... Now I can not cell it.
USB port broke after 2-3 months. Replaced- 3 days at Nokia Care point in NYC.
Integrated GPS stopped working after Anna update- 3 daysX 2- 3 hours online chat with Nokia Care and 10 days repair. The internal part of the phone was replaced. The display is still the same.
     Belle- improved Anna, but..
Battery life has been enormously reduced. Practically if you want long battery life- turn the phone off.
Power savings mode option has moved to the hard button on the top. Difficult to access because of the protector.
Google Maps is not working. (Nokia maps is OK but GM has easy access to public transit directions and has more business location info) Now Nokia Public Transit app is a step forward, but its still separate app.
     Many Apps are not compatible.
No short cut for positioning method directly from maps/ driving. You have to dig thru the phone's settings.
Anna's clock small widget with date is no more available.
No shortcut to the specific mailbox.
     Text messaging is confusing.
     Data log history is unavailable.
No "vibration only"  profile allowed when the phone is on power savings mode.
Anna and Symb had an option to choose when and how to connect a single application to the internet. (internet- always ask) Now with Belle its more complicated.
No shortcuts to various settings- dig, dig, digg....
Quick Office Pro (sold in Nokia Store) does not read .doc files anymore with Belle.
No option to add contact to group when creating it as new.
     Search widget almost never works.
     Remote lock does not work.

i totally agree with you. i cant get into half off the apps (the ones i paid for) mainly because it sends me to a link to download OVI when its downloading the file it then says its "unable to install ive done everything, thinking its the software of belle that didnt download properly.. a glitch in the software or i'd done something.. my phone it now being used as least as possible. the basics of this model (calling/contacts/messages) isnt as easy as previous..
after reading on here and many other discusion sites it seems like this model (N8)
DOES have a fault with the belle software. and needs to be sorted pronto
or at least give the option to refer back to anna.
this phone it well established to have so many hicupps!!
ive been with nokia for years think the 3310 was my first but my upgrade is due and im looing for other options - something i'd never do..

  • Very, very disappointed in Nokia

Unfortunately in April my Siemens S65 phone was stolen and the insurance company gave me a Nokia 6230i as a like for like replacement. I have to say in the 4 months since I've had the Nokia I've had a string of problems with it. These include the Email application which has stopped working so I now have to use a third party piece of software, regular crashing, poor reception and worst of all a poor implementation of bluetooth so I can't connect with my PDA. It feels like a very buggy phone. The firmare may not be the latest (it's 3.62) but I don't want to be without a phone whilst Nokia try and get it sorted out. Can anyone recommend an alternative Nokia phone that's very reliable? I'm interested in a business orientated phone with bluetooth (that works!). The Siemens phones I found to be rock solid and sadly the 6230i has been nothing but disappointing.

Have you tried taking it to a Nokia Service Centre? They should be able to look at it for you and usually fix things within a really short space of time, some will even lend you a replacement if it has to go in longer.
I still use my 6230i and it's a beast of a phone, love it to bits though I don't use it as my main phone any more. Yours may just need the firmware reinstalling / updating.

  • Nokia 6280 disappointment

Just wondering if anyone else has had the following problems and any joy getting it fixed as i've had none ...
Problems, Freezing, Drops out of coverage, does not show names in messages, resets, noises out of speaker(sometimes buzzing, other times screaching etc).
Its a real shame because this nokia is very disappointing, i've had nothing but good experiences of nokia phones in the past.

Yes – indeed the 6280 is a very poor product. (I do not normally do chat rooms but due to unsatisfactory responses from 3 I feel it necessary to engage the wider community).
My handset has already been “reflashed” (? – all too technical for me) after it effectively died without reason or warning.
I am now experiencing severe battery life problems and if the handset is switched off and then switched back on after any period of time it will report a “Code Restriction” which requires a PIN to be input to reactivate the device – needless to say I do not have said PIN as the feature had never been activated and even the default (as per user manual is not recognised). Taking the battery out and replacing it after a few seconds does however seem to overcome the issue.
I would be interested to learn of any other problems owners of this model are experiencing – it is interesting that one of the menu options on 3’s user helpline relates to “Issues with sending text messages from your 6280...”
3 are somewhat loathe to accept that there is an issue with the handset but I’d surmise that if sufficient pressure was applied this stance would be reassessed. I suspect the fact that the end user only has recourse through an off-shored call centre (where despite the enthusiasm of the staff there is little likelihood of pressure being applied to the manufacturer – i.e. Nokia) no pain is being experienced at the source.
I have told 3 that my direct debit for their price plan will be cancelled and if they attempt to sully my credit rating in any way I will resolve the matter through the courts stating a frustration of the contract (vis a vis their non ability to supply a functioning handset) as the reason for the non-payment.
I would urge other users of this handset to approach their providers or Nokia directly to resolve these issues promptly.
