Disconnecting periodically on xbox live

Hello, i've been having a problem with my linksys WRT54GS version 7 router disonnecting constantly with xbox live.
My connection works fine while the computer is  connected at the same time, but xbox live just disonnects. I use a direct connecting to my router.
I've tried connecting directly to my modem, and that conenction works just fine.
I've also tried switching my ethernet cables around to see if my cable connected to my xbox is faulty, but it still happens.
My current firmware for this router is 7.50.2. Is my current firmware the problem?

hi !
        Change the MTU on the router to 1392 ........so it stop disconnecting periodically on xbox live !

    I'm not sure what the problem is, but what I do know is that I didn't have this problem with my old Netgear router. And No I can't change back to my old router im just hoping that these an easy fix for this problem??

  • BT INFINITY lag spike on xbox live with WIRED conn...

    hey.
    im looking for some advice/support with regards to my infinity service on xbox.
    for the last 4 days, whilst playing online i experience constant disconnections, kicking from xbox live parties and ingame lag constantly.
    now ive raised a fault with bt, and they claim all is fine on their end. now ive reset my router about 5 times.. the nat is open and i am on a wired connection. i even tried my home hub 3 to replace the 4 and same problem prevails
    im at a loss as to what to do anymore, it is impossible to play on a connection, and paying for a service when it suddenly decides to turn this way has puzzled me completely.
    i've tried to port forward etc, but that doesnt seem to work..
    can anybody offer any advice as to what to do?
    could it be a temporary problem, or what can i do to fix it.
    if i get an engineer out, itll cost, but the fault isnt on my end.
    i've problem solved everything to my knowledge so far, and no luck
    any help welcome.
    thanks.

    at first i was told their was a fault, then i was told it was fixed, then there wasnt a fault?
    i asked them about routing and they didnt understand my accent (geordie) so im on the chat now.
    this needs to be sorted though, how am i supposed to get good on this new cod!

  • Xbox Live DMZ Setup

    Hello.  So i seem to get alot of disconnects from my xbox live.  so if anyone can give me a straight forward answer on what to do then let me know.
    first of all, nothing has changed except the routers password.
    I want to set the xbox on the DMZ.
    can someone give me VERY CLEAR instructions on how to do this. I would greatly appreciate it.

    nevermind, I figured it out.

  • Disconnected from Xbox Live (WET610N- E4200- RVS4000)

    I am pulling out my hair with this intermittent problem.  Here is my setup
    - Xbox360 with wired connection to WET610 (5GHz Wireless N, WPA2) connecting to
    - E4200 configured as Access Point (dual radio, 5GHz and 2.4GHz)
    - E4200 has wired connection to my router (RVS4000), in a bridged manner (i.e not using the WAN interface)
    - RVS4000 has other hosts connected via wired interface, in addition to a connection to the E4200
    - wired connection (of course) from RVS4000  to cable modem, connection to internet service from Cox Communications)
    NOTE: the Xbox is configured with a static IP address, external DNS hosts (from Cox). That same IP address is set as the DMZ host on the router.  I also tried port forwarding directly to the Xbox. I have tried various MTU sizes settings on the router, per recommendations, currently set to auto (1500). I have also enabled WMM access mode on the WET610N and set for VIDEO. I tried QOS classification 802.1D and 802.1Q (not affect) on the WET610N
    Still when viewing video streams from Netflix, I receive the following message from the Xbox (disconnected from Xbox Live). The period between service interruption does not seem to be predicatble, but is certainly less than 60 minutes, many times less than 30 minutes.
    I am welcoming any and all ideas ot resolve this issue.  I can not be the only one trying to use Netflix (on Xbox) via this sort of setup, can I ?
    BTW, the E4200 was selected for dual (simultaneous) radio capability, such that I can seperate other WLAN devices onto seperate radio bands. FYI, there is also a second WET610N associated with the E4200 using 5GHz Wireless N, for two desktop systems. All other devices (laptops and iTouch, iPhone, iPad) use the Wireless B/G at 2.4GHz.

    hum, let me try replying again. Yes the problem is isolated to the Xbox not being able to sustain a connection when viewing streamed video from Netflix. The other WET610N, with the two desktop is not impacted. Prior to having the E4200, I did have a WAP610N in place configured to use the 2.4GHz band. The problem was also occuring with the WAP610N in place. Hence the rationale to use a dual simulataneous (2.4 / 5GHz) radio WAP.

  • Timeouts/page not found/disconnect on xbox live

    Hi all,
    Any ideas as to how i can find why my previously stable connection is now constantly timing out on trying to view web pages/connect to xbox live.
    hub (3a) is not disconnecting from the internet but i cant browse the internet from my computer/phone/tablet without having to constantly refresh pages due to timeouts.
    i have tried to run tracert when i am having a problem but it just timeouts at the 1st step.
    it will even timeout trying to access the homehub when it is having one of its now frequent moments.
    Solved!

    have you tried a different router just because it says its conected with the lights on the front doesnt mean it is. I had the same problem swapped the router out and bobs your uncle .

  • E2000 Constantly disconnects from XBOX Live

    I'm  not having an NAT issue, but my e2000 is constantly disconnecting from XBOX Live. About every 3-5 minutes I get disconnected. My wireless is working perfectly, this is only an issue with XBOX Live.
    I've followed all the examples on the forums here, like:
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Need-HELP-to-change-NAT-type-to-open-on-Linksys-E...
    and
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Open-NAT-xbox-live-problems/td-p/337375
    and I have double checked every setting. I'm not sure what is causing this issue.
    I've set the MTU, unchecked UPnP, entered port forwarding range to XBOX's static IP address, and set the DMZ to my XBOX's MAC address.
    So, what is causing my router to constantly disconnect?

    Try the following steps:
    A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
    1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
    2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
    3] Then Click on wireless Tab select Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, and 11. Click Save Settings....
    B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • Xbox live disconnected.

    so there bull**bleep** high speed internet keeps laggin me out of xbox live. I connect to a game, its not choppy for a bit then boom. lagged out google take 2 mintues to load even hardlined. I cant finish one multi player game of black ops before being randomly disconnected. Im awaiting verizons BULL**bleep** respone but pretty sure im gunna get a half **bleep** sorry and no real answer. im usein theyre crappy dsl modem and my linksys router which ive disconnect and uses striaght modem and no difference. im afraid im gunna have to go back to comCRAP for high speed even worse customer service.

    That's not a whole lot of info... What speed are you supposed to be getting? What do speed tests say?

  • Instagram, Facebook, Twitter photos not loading, Getting Kicked off xbox live, random drop outs.

    Hi everyone, Here's an issue for you to solve. Im sure it can't be fixed, and I know multiple people that have this issue, and it is unnacceptable.  Before I start, here is the router I am using: Telstra Gateway Max. Ok so heres the problem. I have an android phone, well two on my network and they both have the same issue. The iPhones and iPads seem to be OK. i don't have these issues on the computer either (Macbook Pro and Dell Inspiron). When I go onto instagram for example, all of the text loads just fine, but the images just sit on 0% and stay like that until it says unable to download. Facebook is usually ok, but sometimes has the same issue, and Twitter, same as instagram. This also happens on the Google Play Store when trying to download apps, and other random things. I have tried on the 2g and 5g networks and both same issue, but strangely enough, as soon as I connect to 3G/4G network, everything loads great. Why should I have to use my data when at home? Whats the point of paying $200+ a month for a service that doesn't even work! Also, with Xbox Live, this happens on the 360 and Xbox One. I have Two 360's on the network, one being wired (ethernet), the other on wifi. The xbox one is also connected to the same switch as the wired 360. Don't give me any of that garbage about buying a new switch, because this one works perfectly fine.
    I have a moderate NAT type on some games, and sometimes I just get randomly disconnected. I have monitored the lights on the router, and they stay normal, some flashing, some solid. Basically, everything is normal. The other xbox's drop off at random times. The annoying thing is, when I connect to the Telstra Air network (off my router) everything loads fine on my phone, and I don't want to be forced to use that terrible 3mbit connection. Oh and while I'm at it, the telstra air app says I don't have a valid account, even though when I manually connect to telstra air through wifi settings on my laptop or phone, it works fine. Back to the xbox, I have forwarded all the ports needed (SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT), I have changed my firewall to low... Basically, Telstra, get your **bleep** together, and help me with my issues, or give me some pointers.

    So someone else with Android devices on an entirely different network seems to have the same issues. This doesn't rule out the Android devices at all, in fact it suggests maybe there is more to it
    The only way to make sure it's not the other switch introducing problems is to take it out of the equation. That means running direct connections to the modem. I realise it might be a pain in the rear end though. I user ethernet over power for one of xboxs.

  • WRT610N, Xbox Live, Moderen Warfare 2 and nothing but trouble !!

    I have been having problems over the last few months with constant drop outs on Xbox live and now specifically MW2. I have tried every option I can think of in the settings (Xbox and Linksys WRT610N) but no luck. I thought I would share my story in hope that either I might be able to help someone with what I have learned so far or get lucky that someone might offer up a solution that I have not been able to work out yet.
    Let the story begin ......
    Issue: Can connect to Xbox Live but will drop me out of the middle of games (Halo, Live Arcade, etc), and especially MW2 only to bring me back into the same game with my score set back to 0 each time. This happens on every game and every mode. If I am the host of a game then it will boot everyone else out half way through the game, bring up a message that enimies are about to forfeit and then finally rejoin everyone with their scores all set back to 0.
    Back Story:
    Have tried 3 different routers (this one being the latest) the other was a top of the line Belkin and older Linksys model
    Have power cycled and reset and restored factory defaults on all many times.
    Have changed out the actual ethanet cables as well.....No luck
    Have 2 Xbox's in the House and both produce the same results.
    My Current Settings:10N
    Product = WRT610N
    ISP = Bellsouth
    Xbox360 = Hardwired
    NAT = Open
    PPPoE
    IP and DNS are both Manual........
    Entered in matching DNS1 & DNS2 into Xbox settings
    IP = Manual and sits with DMZ enabled and assigned the Xbox a manual IP address outside Router IP range at .200
    Port Forwarding on for 88 & 53 Both (Tried UDP Only) ....53 & 3074 Both
    MTU = 1452
    Even added in specific Xbox Mac address into the Router page...no luck
    Upnp: = Disabled......Tried it enabled as well
    Went into QoS in the Application and Gaming section of the Router to try and priortize all the Xbox Live and MW2 advanced ports above and below.
    Read on a forum post to try unchecking Filter Anonymous Internet Requests in the Security tab settings....no luck
    Called Xbox Live support..............Went to 2nd level tech twice.
    They said IW/Activision had given them specific port settings for MW2 that I could try. My intial thought was Houston we might have lift off:....Tried opening additional Ports based of 2nd Level Support:
    3658 = UDP
    3478 = UDP
    3075 = UDP
    443 = TCP
    5223 =TCP
    Unfortunately no luck !
    Next I tried reading another million posts and forums to no avail.
    Help please, please please

    I finally got it to work 10 min ago !!!!!!!
    Here is the issue so if others incounter the same problem you will have some potential options to explore.
    Having 2 Xboxes going through the Linksys Router to Xbox live is the issue. This is what you need to do in your settings.
    Make both Xbox IP's Automatic
    DO NOT USE Port Forwarding.............You must enter these in Port Range Triggering:
    Xbox Live port settings 80, 88, 53 & 3074
    Same for Modern Warfare 2 ports = 3658, 3478, 3075 & 443
    On the setup page enable Keep Alive: Redial Period  = 180
    MTU = 1364
    Disable Home Network Defender
    Enable Upnp
    Disable DMZ
    QoS = Enable Internet Access Priority and Add in the ports above and set to High
    Add in the Mac addresses of the two Xboxes (you can find these in the advance network settings of you Xbox)
    Hope this helps as I have been researching this fix for 2 months and spent 20+hours playing with settings to finally get this to work

  • Xbox Live wont connect

    Hey Guys wondering if you could help me.
    So basically the problem is when I connect to xbox live or the black ops 2 server from my Xbox everything on my network just lags and is unusable, even the game itself.
    Normally my connection is fine but today I boot my Xbox and then started to browse on my pc loading a few web pages like I normally do, The web pages failed to load. If I managed to get into a game on black ops I would just lag all over the place.
    I'm connected by Ethernet by the way.
    Now I have a ps3 with black ops 2 as well and it worked 100% fine when I played it. So I'm kinda confused. I'm sat now with it on connected to Xbox live and just sitting there with the dashboard up, So I'm guessing the problem starts happening when I connect to the multi-player servers.
    I've reset the router change some cables around, still nothing seems to fix it.
    I'm hoping this is just a 1 day thing.
    Any in put is great ...
    Thanks in advance.

    If you are getting amber light on bb connection try disabling the internet phone number bt give you and set for use by default. I think it starts with 05******. This is done by entering the router homepage and disconnecting the number, you will then be using your normal tel number line. I had same issue some time ago and did this to solve it. Bt help were useless.
    Also how far are you from exchange? Fibre or copper/aluminium? All these factors can affect lag. Time of day is also an issue as during peak times when everybody on net will lower available bandwidth per household.

  • Connection issue Xbox Live

    For the past two weeks I have had issues staying connected to xbox live gameplay.  I never get kicked off live just out of the game.  I will be playing a game and midway through I will get disconnected.
    Here is my set up.
    Wired Connection (purchased new cable today and still having problems)
    M1424-WR Aciontec Wireless router
    I shut my router down for 8 hours to see if that would help but it didn't.  I am not having issues with my computer internet connection.
    Any suggestions for things I could try?

    if you are desperate to play connect it the ethernet cable straight into the ont . The ont is the box that has a logo of verizon and is big. Assuming you are not MOCA enabled. Then you need your router. MOCA enabled means you have a coax WAN cable connected to your router instead of a WAN ethernet cable.

  • BT Broadband, Xbox Live, Destiny Problems

    Hello everyone,
    I have just had BT Broadband installed on Monday (22/09) and everyday since I am regularly disconnected from Destiny on Xbox One.
    I did not have this problem before with my old broadband provider (EE) and I can't seem to find anyone that works for BT to be able to help me (they blame Xbox Live).
    Does anyone know the solution to this problem and why this only happens to Destiny?
    I'm using a Home Hub 4, I did try to use my old router, but that doesn't seem to work now BT is installed.
    Much appreciate any help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The BT homehubs 5's and possibly homehubs 4's are not compatible with games made by activision.
    Activision games on xbox one, ps3 and ps4 use demonware port mapping to open the required ports for the game via UPnP.
    Problem is that these hubs are not compatible with demonware port mapping. Clearly BT were only interested in getting their hubs working on tablets and laptops. They didn't test the UPnP for gaming at all.
    You will very likely have a moderate or strict NAT in Destiny even if the dashboard NAT says open. This is because activision games don't use the standard xbox live ports.
    Destiny on xbox one seems to require port 1200. But because the UPnP on the hub is not compatibile with the demonware port mapping it's not getting opened.
    You should try setting up port forwarding to forward port 1200 to the xbox one. You would also need to port forward if you want to play other games by activision as well. For instance COD ghosts would need port 3076.
    If your disconnections are caused by NAT this should fix it. Although there may be some other compatility problem as well that I don't know about.
    Personally I ditched the home hub because of this incompatibilty and bought a new router. I have consistantly open NATs now in the xbox dashboard as well as activision games. Disconnections in Destiny are rare for me.

  • Unable to Connect to Xbox Live on Xbox One due to ...

    I have been on the phone for a few hours this afternoon trying to get this sorted and the conclusion of my last call to BT was that I needed to register on a tech experts website? Put simply, I need to open a list of seven ports that are listed here:
    http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live
    in ordder to be able to connect to Xbox Live with my Xbox One, this is an issue I have had since upgrading to infinity.
    Can somebody do it for me, I have the IP address of my Xbox One, or can somebosy point me in the right direction?
    It seems to be taking a very long time to get sorted.
    Thanks in advance.

    Think I can help here.
    First of all I assume that you have disabled UPNP on the hub?  If you havent yet then you have two choices:
    You can disconnect the Xbox One and 360 from the network, perform a full factory reset of the hub and then immediately disable UPNP before doing anything else, or..
    Disable UPNP and wait a good few hours (I'm talking overnight here) before reconnecting the XBox One and 360 and trying again.
    When UPNP is enabled and the XBoxes are using the network it will write rules on the fly to the NAT table, you probably won't be able to apply port forwarding rules to a device for those ports because the Hub can see that they're already in the NAT table.  They will eventually expire but this can take some time.  When you disable UPNP, these rules don't seem to be removed as you might expect.
    Next, you definitely don't need to forward ports 80 or 53, these are allowed by the hub automatically and traffic for each will be correctly forwarded to whatever device by the hub.  You shouldn't need to open 88 either.
    You have an XB One and a 360 and they both can't share the same port, that being 3074.  However, if the 360 is using 3074 you can forward 3076 to the XB One instead, or vice versa.
    When you've applied all of your port forwarding rules run the XBox network test repeatedly until it gives you an open NAT, a maximum of six times should do it, and you may want to do this every time you turn on an XBox.  I've previously posted about why I think you have to do this sometimes with the BT Home Hubs.
    If you're still not getting an Open Nat, turn off the XBox and unplug any powerline adapters on its chain for 5 minutes, then reconnect the adapters in sequence from the hub and try again.

  • Alright, Xbox live problems.

    A friend of mine is using the Linksys 10/100 5 port ezxs55w ver. 4.1 as a hub/router for his xbox live.
    Ive manually put in the IP, DNS, DHCP, subnet mask, into my XBOX360, and when i test the connection it works. Well, and we are not sure if its the hub, or a problem with microsoft, When i attempt to download an update, the update stalls, times out, and tells me to check my internet connection. I know, for a FACT, that my connection is fine, and when i test it on my xbox, i receive a green light, and the connection is okayd.
    Can anyone help me? Ive posted on forums across the net, Emailed Microsoft support yesterday, and been on AIM with a tech support buddy for 4 hours. If this is a microsoft problem, not a problem with the hub, please, let me know, and ill focus my efforts on them.
    Thanks much for your time,
    -Nathan

    It's most likely not an issue with your switch... look into whatever device is providing the DHCP settings, and what it's giving the Xbox.  As you've already pointed out, the manual IP configuration works fine.
    Ps: PS3's rule
    Also... The internet connection might appear to be fine, but if it's disconnecting intermittently it can really mess up firmware/updates if they don't have a interruption recovery.
