Disconnecting phone line upon answering a call

Hi all, I have recently had a phone line installed in my new flat and am using a 2.0 Home Hub and 2.1 Home Hub Phone. Everything works perfectly with the broadband, all the blue lights are on and this appears to be fine when making an outgoing call. However, upon recieving a call and answering it, we seem to get a few seconds of the call and then the line will disconnect. The hub lights will flash off and then on again, and then the line will reconnect itself. I wonder whether this is just a problem with our set up or whether it is a common thing that can be dealt with over the forum. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Will

Make sure you have filters on any socket with something plugged in, sky etc
Have you tried it at the test point in your main socket?
Try a different filter

  • No phone icon to answer incoming calls with text message

I have a brand new iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4.
When I have an incoming call, I do not get the small telephone icon on the bottom right of the screen, so I have no access to options such as answer with text message. What can be done to activate this?

You search your iPhone for the Phone app and put it back there.
Or tap in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen layout button

  • HT1267 MC637B - callers unable to hear me when I phone out or answer a call

any ideas - apart from resetting - which hasnt worked  - I can make calls but no one can hear me .. and I can receive calls but no one can hear me !

Try disconnecting the headphones and then adjusting the volume, does it say headphones?
There might be something in the headphone jack, maybe lint, dirt, or something else in there.
Take a look at this Apple document for more information -> iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers

  • When recieving a call I cant unblock my phone and cant answer the call. Once this happens the only chance I have to make it work is to take out my sim card.

Sometimes when I get an incoming call I cant answer and the touchscreen doesnt respond, the name of the caller just keeps appearing and ringing. When this happens I cant turn it off or do anything else but just taking out the sim card and rebooting. what to do??

Your iPhone is probably locked to your former cell carrier. In such case only that carrier can unlock it, so you'll need to contact the carrier. Note that unless things have changed recently only 3 offers unlocking. If you used a different carrier, they do not appear to offer unlocking which means that your son will not be able to use your old iPhone. But call your carrier and ask.

  • Officejet Pro 8610 - Answer a call by phone then receive a fax REMOTELY

    Hello everyone
We just bought and installed an Officejet Pro 8610 as a fax machine on our home/office phone line.
The phone line also receives regular calls and a phone is connected to the line BUT 2 FLOORS ABOVE.
Is there a way to receive a fax after answering the call from the phone ?
If the phone was close the Officejet we could start the fax using the touch panel, but this is not the case.
We had a standard fax machine (Sharp UX-238) that can be started remotely right from the phone that answers the call simply digiting "5**" .
    (see also http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForBusiness/DocumentSystems/MFPsPrinters/Manuals/MX6240N_7040N/c...
We wondering if similar behavior or so is available on the Officejet Pro 8610.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
If yo pick up your phone and hear a fax sounds, dial "123" from your phone and that should cause the fax to answer the call.
If you do not see such response, ensure that Error Correction Mode is enabled within the printer setup and check again:
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup , and then touch the Setup icon ( ).
Touch Fax Setup , and then touch Advanced Fax Setup .
    Touch Error Correction Mode .
    Touch On.
Touch the Home icon ( ) to return to the main screen.

  • TA38605 When my phone rings and  is password locked I am unable to decline a call.  As soon as I unlock my phone it answers the call whether I want to or not. How do I fix this? Because I do not want to answer a blocked number.

Iphone4s - because I use pass lock I cannot decline a call such as a blocked number.  If I can't see who is calling then I don't want to answer it.  But due to having my phone on lock - i can see its a blocked number but there is no option to decline.  If i unlock my phone it automatically answers the call.  Does anyone else have this problem or is there a solution I don't knnow about?

In the locked screen you can press the sleep/wake button once to silence to the call and twice to send it to voicemail.

  • ADT cannot seize phone line after fiber installation

I had my phone line switched over to fiber today and now my ADT system cannot "seize" the phone line.  It will call out properly but if you are in the middle a call and the alarm is activated it will not disconnect the current call in order to make it's own call out to the monitoring center.  Of couse this was working before.
I talked to the tech that installed the fiber and he said his only responsibilty to me was to provide me with a dial tone, period.  I also called Verizon tech support and talked to three different people who all told me it was ADT's problem.  So now I have to call ADT and incur a fee to have them come out and fix it.  So much for Verizon's promise to me that an upgrade to fiber would not cost anything.
Is there anyone is this forum that may have experienced a similar problem?  Any help greately appreciated.

armond_in_nj wrote:... Verizon Digital Voice (if that's what you have and it seems likely that's the case) is capable of using typical alarm system components to transmit alarm system data.  Usually the data is transmitted using what's called "Contact ID" data, and usually the connection between the alarm system and the telco lines is handled by a simple device called an RJ31X connector.  I suspect that's the case for ADT, but you must check that with your monitoring company ...
Some further thoughts on the issue.  Here's a link to demonstrate what's involved in the RJJ31x wiring scheme:
    http://wiki.hometech.com/tiki-index.php?page=How+to+Wire+an+RJ31X+Jack
As you can see it appears little "hairy" and in fact there's really only one way to do it correctly.  Of course that's what alarm technicians are for, and there's no need for the average user to get into the details.
After thinking about this a while, it occurred to me that what has probably happened in your case is that the VZ install tech never went near your RJ31x connection.  He (or she) just did what a normal install requires and got things working.  However there are certain requirements for the alarm setup to operate correctly.
The RJ31x mustt be the first device in line after the phone line comes into the building.  In old terminology this means that it must be wired in directly after the NID (network interface device) where the phone company hooks up to your house.  In this way the alarm can take over the line for all phones downstream.
However with FiOS Digital Voice, this is probably not how your house was connected.  I.e., the install tech can connect to your interior phone wiring network at any point and still get all the phones to operate correctly.  What doesn't happen in such a case is the alarm is not able to control all the phones downstream, because some of the phones aren't really "downstream."
As convoluted as this seems, the way out is simple:  the alarm company must pay a visit and make sure that all your phones are connected (from the VZ ONT) after the RJ31x.  This should be pretty easy, and it's really on the alarm company to make it work.
Let us know what you decide and what happens (using your personal service ticket mentioned by Lawrence).  Once again, good luck.

  • Sudden trouble on phone line

I have already booked  the services of a BT engineer but I wonder what could have happened to my phone line particularly on incoming calls. I am now getting an echo on conversations, or if one conversation goes then it is replaced by a dialling tone. When I dial 1471for example the recorded voice is echoed a second or two later so that they annoyingly overlap.  This seems to have occurred in the last day or so.
We have overhead lines and mine was replaced within the last five years. I wonder whether the excess rainy weather is the culprit. My exchange is less than a half a mile away and I have three phones on the ground floor. All give this problem and I have changed them all around as indeed their ADSL filters as well. I have a BT HUB 3 for my BB supply.

Your line is in contact with another line on the external network somewhere. The line test should detect that fault quite easily and BT will pass the fault to Openreach.
I assume that you have reported the fault online?

  • Too Many Phone Lines!

    Hi there,
I'm looking into simplifying my BT set up at home. We currently have two separate accounts - one for the main house and one for the basement flat. Each account has two lines, but we only really need one phone line for broadband and calls. Is it easily possible to consolidate all these lines into one simple account?
    Thanks
    Richard

  • 7936 phone - can't hear user calling in

We have 7936 conference phones in place and are finding when someone calls into the conference phone, we can answer the call and the far end can hear us but we can not hear them.
Can not see anything that would cause this in configuration.

We experienced this a few months ago. It seemed like the issue would occur seven days (the DHCP lease period) after the DHCP server (a router) was reloaded. The TAC said it was an issue with the phone load, and told us to use a newer load 3.3(10). We still had issues and ended up assigning the conf phones static IPs and we haven't had another one-way audio problem (knock on wood).

  • Crackly phone line and broadband disconnecting

For a month or two i have been having problems with our phone line and broadband connection. The phone line is extremely noisy (interferance) and when you make a call or recieve a call the broadband disconnects. I have tried different filters, routers and wires but no good. I have conducted a quiet line test and the result was i could hear nothing on the line. When i unplug the hub and just have the phone connected to the socket the noise on the phone has gone and their is no problem, connecting the hub make the noise come back. As a result of all this my broadband speeds are very low.

your drops in connection have at one point reconnected with a far lower speed than normal resulting in the low ip profile.  if you stay conencted 24/7 for 3/5 days the profile will correct itself for your current connection speed
I would as john46 suggested connected to test socket with a new filter and see if that helps

  • Disconnecting family line but keeping the phone number

    Hi  All,
I have a family plan with one main line and the other line for my wife. I wanted to disconnect the line for my wife but put her phone number on my main line. I called Verizon but they told me they can not do it. Do you have any suggestions? We have been using the phone numbers for many years and would really like to keep it.
    Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you just want to cancel your main line, then your wife's line will be your only line, correct.
It would probably best to do this in a Verizon store, but it seems that all you need to do is to have Verizon cancel your main(primary) line. Your wife's line would then convert to an individual plan instead of part of a Family plan. You will have to choose from among the minute plans available for an individual plan.
Edit: If your main line is currently under contract, though, you will have to pay an ETF when you cancel it. If what you wanted to do was to get out of the contract on your main line without paying an ETF, then Verizon is correct in saying that they will not transfer the contract from your main line to your wife's line.
