Display of Cost Element without Compound

Hi All
I am trying to display Cost Element Key in query without the controlling Area (The compound of Cost Element).
What I get for now is for Example "1000/172000008".
How do I get rid of the "1000/" so the user will see only the "172000008" ?

put 0co_area into the filter of the query and restrict the output to 1000.

Reports for display secondary cost element

Dear SAP consultant
After run settlement cycles we going to display reports for secondary
cost elements but it is return zero balance, i know that when i am trying
to drill down it will get the whole data. but it is not practical because
the huge amount of data that transferred to this report. In the other
hand it will display the data with +/- sign which is not be helpful.
Is there any report to display the result from settlement run on the
secondary cost elements.

In KP26 activity types allocation cost element displaying old cost element

Hi,
I changed cost element in activity types. But in KP26, activity types picking old cost element only.
Ex: I changed 9430000002 for Labour activity with old one 9430000001 but in KP26, while planning for Labour activity it is picking 9430000001. so its becoming problem while running CK11N.
Please suggest.

Dear Neeraja,
While changing the secondary cost element for activity type, hop you got the following warning message.
So you must check whether the existing data is there or not for that activity type.
One more important thing.
The cost element field is a time based filed.
You can change this field for each fiscal year. For example, you can change the field content for a new fiscal year.

Is it possible to display cost element , being categorized as '12'?

I am trying to query 'S_ALR_87012997' cost element by order.
but it just shows only cost element being categorzied as a primary cost.
Is it possible to display cost elements being categorized '12'-sales deduction in this report?
If not, how could it be possible to show cost elements-'being defined as 12' sales-deduction by order type?

Hi,
Cost Element Category 12 is assigned only for Primary costs. Secondary Costs are basically assigned with 21, 31, 41 till 61. Pl. clarify whether you have created the cost element as Primary. The report which you had mentioned is a standard report which normally displays all cost elements. If you still face the problem, you can copy that report and write a new report with the value fields required.

Reporting issue-Cost Element

Hi:
We have a report which shows Cost element hierarchy. Each cost element is compunded with Controlling area. We have 4 controlling area with costelement being same across all of them. Our user want to see a report where they can get total for cost element across all controlling areas instead of displaying each cost element 4 times as it is compounded with conrolling area.
The current report is diplayed as shown below.
Salaries & Benefits      Amount
Cost element1/CA1       $100
Costelement 1/CA2       $200
Costelement1/CA3        $300
Costelement1/CA4        $400
User wants a report as shown below
Salaries & Benefits   Amount
Cost element1        $1000
Costelement2         $2000
Is there a way to do this?

Which are the characteristics that you are inserting in the line (in query designer) ?
Because of if you insert just "Cost Element" you will not have any issue about it.

In Cost Elements (Data is Dependent on Controlling Area), please go to extras and check your controlling area while creating the cost element, and make sure if u r creating Primary CE, it has been created as a G/L account and also make sure you use correct CE Category.

Cost element description now showing in Report painter

Hi,
I selected to display KEY and DESCRIPTION in the report layout settings for a report painter however the report is displaying only the cost element number and not the description in the rows.
In this case, how to display the cost element description in the report painter rows?

Hi,
ensure that KEY + DESCRIPTION is selected in the layout settings. Description will only appear if it is maintained in the logon-language (means if your logon language is EN but cost element texts are not maintained in EN no descripiton can be seen).

WIP - Cost elements

Hello All
My WIP calculation is working fine. KKAX is calculating WIP correctly at Actual Cost and FI Postings happening fine.
When I look at the Production Order -> Cost -> Analysis , I can see the WIP based against the 2 Cost Elements linked to my 2 Line ID's.
For example :
Line ID          Cost Element
A                  1
B                   2
I can also see the 'Technical RA cost element' which we link in Result Analysis Version : OKG9 (for example : Cost element 3)
but the value is zero.
As I understand, SAP uses Cost element 3 only for internal calculation purpose and WIP is stored against Cost element 1 and 2 linked to line ID.
I want to know if my understanding is correct ?
If yes, then why SAP display's cost element 3 in Production order WIP field.
If no, in which scenarion I will ever see any value in cost element 3 against Production Order.

As i understood with the above discussion is Secondary Cost element which i Maintained in OKG9 is for sap internal calculation purpose and we are maintaining P&L & BS GL Account in Posting Rules for Settling Work in Process (OKG8) which is to post an accounting entry in FI.
eg:- WIP dr
       Inventory Change Work in Process cr
but i need clarity on updates(OKG4)Exactly which cost element we are maintain and what is the purpose. and like wise we are doing masking on ASSIGNMENT(OKG5).
kindly provide your valuable inputs for my clearing understanding for RA(WIP)

Selection variant for cost element GROUPS

Is there a way to create a selection variant for cost element groups? Through customizing I can only create them for cost elements but not for groups!

The help just depicts how to create variants for cost elements. You actually do have the feature to display all cost elements from <u>one</u> group within the collective processing but I would need to select many different groups, which is just not possible.
Therefore I would like to create a variant of cost element <b>groups</b>!!!!!

MP001500 - adding cost elements

Hi
SAP seems to deliver a screen (3450) for MP200000 - which displays Cost Element information in list view for IT2010. We would like a similar functionality for IT0015. Would this be done through modifying the element list in MP001500/3000 (or a copy of 3000) - or through PM01? The required elements are available through strucure PREF.
Any advice/best practice (also for naming std.) appreciated.

Even i tried using LSMW bt it not displaying the Cost Element fields to Upload....

Functional Area assigned to Cost Elements

Hi All,
Where can i see the list of cost elements assigned to different functional areas.
Thanks in advance.

Use tr. KA23 for collective processing of cost elements.
You can use the radio button to display all cost elements, or you want to filter the cost element list for only certain functional areas you can use the option for a Selection Variant. Just click on the Create icon and input your functional area(s) and save the variant and give it a name and description. Then return to the KA23 screen and use F4 help or input the variant you saved.
After you execute the report and the list is returned, you may not see functional area immediately by default. Simply use the icon to change the layout and send the functional area field from the column set on the right to the displayed columns on the left.
If you have access to tr. SE16 or SE17 you can also simply look at the table contents of table CSKA to see the assignments of functional area to cost elements.

Secondary Cost Element Values doesn't display in Profit Center Report

Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with our Profit Center plan/actual/variance reports wherein it doesn't display the postings I made to the Secondary cost element when I executed an assessment cycle (KSU5). I already set in the configuration that all postings to be done in the cost centers, should have a parallel posting to the profit center assigned to it. I can see the postings in my cost center reports, but not in my profit center report. Could I have missed out on any procedure to enable the secondary cost element parallel posting in my profit centers? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

it might be the configuration of the library or some parameter in the report (record type should be 0 and 2 for actual values, where 2 stands for distributed values and 1 and 3 for planned values)
but it also might be that the reconciliation is done between different CC and same PC
- check your CC organisation asignment
- if sender cost center and receiver cost center have tha same PC it is probably the reason
- I had that problem my self and didn't solve it

Planning on WBS elements without cost elements

Hi all,
we are trying to implement the planning solution where users will be able to plan on individual WBS elements monthly but without providing a breakdown on cost elements. Standard SAP planning profiles allow to post plan values on WBS elements in annual view without cost elements. But when you want a monthly view the system you need to click on primary cost elements planning first.
Is there any way to plan monthly but at cost object (WBS) level only?

thanks for your response. We will be using budget functionality for budget purposes but at the same time we will need to use planning on different versions. I believe there are no versions for budget.
One of the idea to minimize cost element planning is to introduce like a planning cost element to use with all planning postings and then include this into the same cost element group with the rest of cost elements for plan/actuals comparison reports.
If you have something in your mind I would appreciate your input.
