Hello I am trying to install Oracle 9i on a Solaris 10 server. I am attempting to launch runInstaller from the database server console and I am getting the following error:

root should open the display, otherwise you won't be able to execute anything.
issue the command xhosts + and retry.

  • Mac Pro (Early 2008) and HP LP3065 30" display compatibility issue

    Hello!
Is there FIX / Workaround to Mac Pro (Early 2008) and HP LP3065 30" display compatibility issue ? ( +w/ ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT display adapter+ ). Its really annoying problem :-/.
Main problem is when i start my Mac, my 30" HP screen dosen't wake up, it always on suspend mode. Sometimes it wakes up on the 3rd try orso, sometimes it ruins my motivation, ideas and i give up (talk about inspiration killer). If i connect PC Laptop to that screen, sreen wakes up straight away. ATI says display adapters "drivers" are included on the OSX install. Great. Weird thing is i didn't recognize this problem at all 6-8 months ago, so i thought my system is fine. So i can't return my HP screen anymore.
    My choices are to buy another 30" screen or buy different display adapter; there's two choices atm i think;
*-ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB PCI-E for Mac Pro (~200€)*
*-EVGA GeForce GTX 285 Mac Edition 1GB (~500€)* (this one has seperate OSX drivers).
_Can anyone confirm if those display adapters work with HP 3065 30" screen ?._

    Br,
    Petri

Thanks for all information. I haven't been Mac user very long . I just want to get rid of my annoying problem. I'll do music composing mainly on my Mac Pro. So, it dosen't really matter what display card i'm using, i want to just make sure it works with HP 3065 .

  • Brand New MacBook Pro and Display Adaptor Issue

Hello fellow Mac users, I've been a long-time Mac user and owner.
I just got a new MacBook Pro after using a 2006 model for 2 years and am having a display adapter issue that I need help and advice with:
The new MacBook Pro has the mini DVI display connector, my non-Apple external display is does not support the mini DVI, no problem there, I bought the display adaptor...
Except that it doesn't fit the adaptor that fit the 2006 MacBook Pro.
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sdjOcw1jrddqtAfjAU0Trw?feat=directlink
File comment: This is the adaptor that connected my 2006 MacBook Pro to the the display. It changes the connection from the Mac's DVI to fit the VGA connection of my display. There are the four extra pins around the flat pin to the left of the connector.
Somehow the male end of the mini DVI to the full-size DVI adaptor doesn't fit the female end of the full-size DVI to VGA adaptor! Please see the images. It seems a few extra pins prevent the connection!
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/4bG788QVKGCOIJUkzHcjKg?feat=directlink
Comment: This is where the problems begin. The flat portion lacks the four holes needed for the DVI to VGA adaptor to connect.
Is it possible to just remove the four offending pins in the Full Size DVI to VGA Male End?
Any help or suggestions highly appreciated, because as of now, my brand new MacBook Pro is less useful than the 2006 model, which can connect to my external display.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Rob with a Mac and welcome to the boards.
My suggestion would be that you simply take the adaptor back and get a mini-display port to VGA adaptor instead.
I ran into a similar problem myself recently when I wanted to connect my own MBP13 to an overhead projector. I had assumed that I could use the mini display to DVI adaptor that I use for the DVI capable external monitor with my new MacBook, combined with a DVI to VGA adaptor that I had for my 2007 MBP, connected to a VGA cable to do the job, but this is not possible.
MiniDisplay to VGA adaptors for the newer MBPs are readily available at Apple dealers or through the online store and not too expensive.
    Cheers
    Rod

When trying charging my ipad 4 (retina display) whilst using it at the same time, the battery doesn't charge... It just decreases. It's plugged into the wall using original lead and my ipad is only 3 weeks old. Anyone have this issue? Or know why it's happening. It's not like I'm playing games or doing anything crazy with it, just on google and it drains.
    It's really bugging me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Display Session issue in Essbase

    Hi,
we currently upgraded to V11.1.2.2 from 9.3. In system 9 to see a list of sessions we used EAS and did a Edit Session on the server to get a list and it worked fine, but in System 11 the behavior of Edit sessions is different. Whenever we did Edit sessions it took the Essbase in a funky state which doesnt recover even when we kill all the ESSSVR sessions in the backend., ultimately we have to restart Essbase to bring it back up. We thought it could be an EAS issue and instead used MAXL command to list the sessions, "display sessions on application Sample;" and it was the same behavior as it has happened while displaying sessions from EAS which tells me its the Essbase function thats doing the harm.
Does anyone had seen this behavior with Version 11 or V11.1.2.2 specifically? FYI we are hosting Essbase on 64 Bit AIX. Is there tuning options that could resolve this issue? Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    @MJ

Turned out be an issue in EAS server on linux which oracle addressed with a patch.

  • OS X 10.8.3 Display Resolution Issue

Ever since updating to 10.8.3, there has been a sporatic resolution issue when waking my MBP. My mid 2009 13" MBP operates in closed lid mode while connected to a 21.5" monitor. My machine frequently wakes to a completely incorrect resolution that is many times the size of my display. It fixes to the correct resolution if I simply sleep and wake again, or correct it via System Preferences, but having to do this several times becomes quite annoying. Anyone else experiencing this bug and/or have any ideas on its resolution?

  • Flash SDK and MacBook Pro with Retina display major issues

    Hello,
Apple has recently released Macbook Pro's with Retina displays.
I have tested my Flash application on the new laptop, and this is what I observe:
My Flex SDK Flash application looks blurry and strange when I try to check it out from any Macbook Pro with Retina display, while looking sharp and OK from all other machines.
On this screenshot you can sort of see the issue:
    http://i.imgur.com/UXHd4.png
(Expand the image to the actual size, and compare the Flex SDK components with browser labels. Browser labels look crisp, Flex SDK components look a little bit blurry.)
    Please fix this issue.
    Andrey

Sure. LR 4.3 even specifically adds Retina support...

  • Display / Crash Issue

I have been having an issue with my 15" Mid-2010 MBP lately. On occasion the display will completely go black and can not be turned back on. It is unclear as to whether the computer is completely frozen or the display is simply failing. The issue usually seems to typically occur 10-15 minutes after waking the computer from sleep, when playing and/or streaming video.
The only solution I have when this happens is to press and hold the power button until the computer turns off. I can then reboot the computer and everything will appear to be normal.
Upon restarting the computer I get a "You shut down the computer because of a problem" message box. The text below is the contents of the "report" that is generated. I would appreciate it if any of the experts here could help me decipher the problem and help me with a plan of attack to remedy the issue.
    Thanks in advance!

You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It may have a logic board defect covered by this recall.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue.
Print the first page of the panic report, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued in February 2011, so the replacement program will be ending soon. Some units may have been sold by Apple as refurbished after that date.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired under the program, and you don't want to pay for a new logic board, you may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Second Display Quality Issue

I have a mid-2010 iMac 27" and it works wonderfully for me. I need a second monitor to place other applications on, so I grabbed an unused Asus VN247H monitor that my son was not using. It has a 24 or so inch display and accepts HDMI and VGA inputs. I purchased an Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and connected the Asus to the back of the iMac. It works, but I'm underwhelmed by the quality I get on the Asus. Yeah, I know - it isn't a top-of-the-line monitor, and it is never gonna look as good as the iMac, but it isn't a $10 el cheapo, either. It is a good monitor and has a 1ms refresh rate. Anyway, no matter what resolution I try using, the output on that second display looks, well... crappy. The text letters are a little blurry, they are a lot larger than I figured they would be, and - I don't know - it just isn't what I was expecting. One thing I notice is that in the documentation for the monitor, it shows that I should be able to go up to 1920 x 1080 but that isn't the case. When I bring up the OS X System Preferences-->Displays, on the Asus VGA part it only shows a max setting of 1600 x 1200. I tried clicking that but the monitor complains and sez it's past the capability of itself. I am supposing it's because of having VGA instead of digital??
So, I've ordered the Apple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter in hopes that an HDMI digital connection will give me better looking display and the full compliment of resolution options. Am I out in left field on this supposition? Or, is there some other thing I've not thought about in order to get a sharp looking second display?
    Thanks, Jim

Well, after four days, there have been a grand total of ZERO replies to this post / question. Either my question was lame, or no one else has run into a second monitor quality issue. At any rate, I'm answering my own posting - perhaps someone, somewhere might run into the issue and come across this information.
The answer to the question is: YES, changing to an HDMI connection between the iMac and the secondary monitor made a HUGE difference in quality. Why I went with a VGA adapter in the first place is unknown. But the HDMI connection is for sure the way to go. Colors look good, text is "almost" as good as on the iMac.
    Problem solved.

  • Thunderbolt Display has issue with weird washed-out colors after waking from sleep (after upgrade to Mavericks)

I've got a Thunderbolt Display that I use with my Macbook Air (mid 2012) - usually in clamshell mode.
When I let the computer go to sleep, and then wake it up by clicking the mouse, the monitor turns back on but the colors are washed out and purple looking.
The display goes back to normal when I unplug and replug it to my laptop.
I first noticed this problem after upgrading to Mavericks.
I made a video demonstrating the issue here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19179-MVpWA&feature=youtu.be
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Will

Same thing for me too.  Late 2012 13" MBP Retina.  I have to unplug the Thunderbolt cable and plug it back in.
This has only started for me in the last two days.  The first two weeks of Mavericks was ok.
Update:  I just got back from a trip.  I was using the laptop separate from the Thunderbolt display.  I hadn't restarted since I returned and connected the monitor.  I've just rebooted, and put the computer to sleep.  After resuming from sleep, the display is ok.  Maybe try rebooting?  I'll update if it continues.

  • Update - Lightbox Display Centering Issue

Upon updating my Adobe Muse software, it appears its created an issue that effects my lightbox display composition widgets. They don't seems to be centered in the webpage anylonger? Help?

    Hi Mark,
Unfortunately you hit a bug that causes the lightbox to be off center. This happens if the Target inside the Container for each Composition widget has different strokes for different states.
Until we release a fix for the bug, please make sure you use the same stroke for all the states of a Target, or do not use a stroke at all for that Target. In your case, the Normal/Rollover/Mouse Down states all have a red stroke, while the Active state has no stroke. You can easily select each Target using Layers panel, and then from the states panel select the Active state and use the delete button from the lower-right corner to clear that state's customizations, including stroke.
Sorry about the inconvenience. Let us know if workaround fixes the issue for you.

  • Thunderbolt Lacie Drive Causes Display Color Issues

I have a Mid 2011 iMac and the 2Big Lacie Thunderbolt drive. When I connect an external monitor to to the second TB port on the drive my external display turns purple. The drive still functions as normal. If I connect the external monitor directly to the TB port on the iMac, looks normal. I am using mini display to DVI adaptors. This issue did not start until after the last OS update (only change made to the setup). Had done this setup multiple times prior with no issue on this and a matching iMac. Only other time I have seen it, I was trying on a iMac with 2 TB ports with 2 displays, and the first through the drive was fine but the second direct to the iMac was purple. Any suggestions?

I believe the section you refer to is stating I can not connect multiple video adapters together. I am not.
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219
"When connecting a Mini DisplayPort display or a display using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to a Thunderbolt peripheral (except as described in question 24), make sure the display is connected at the end of the Thunderbolt chain. You can use only one Mini DisplayPort device in the Thunderbolt chain."
"Mini DisplayPort Monitors or Monitors connecting with Mini DisplayPort adapters will not function when connected through a Thunderbolt Display. They must be connected directly to the Thunderbolt port on the computer or to a non-display device as indicated above."
I am connecting to a non-display device, not a Thunderbolt display.

  • My T500 external display colour issue

    Hello all,
Before I invoke my warranty on my laptop I thought I would try here first.  My external display all of a sudden today, started to turn yellow.  It seems like its random as to what exactly is being turned yellow, but it seems like almost every part of the screen is effected.  Some facts:
    1.  I have tried 2 different monitors and 3 different VGA cables with the exact same results.
    2.  When I first plugged the monitor in today and set it to output only to monitor, the screen was fine, when I changed it to 1680x1050, the yellow instantly showed up
    3.  Whatever resolution I try now, its always the same
    4.  I have rebooted, tried extended, clone and one screen displays, I have even tried rotating the display!
So thats the story, my gut feeling says the video card in the laptop is the issue, but I do not know enough about it to be sure.
Anything anybody can think of that I can try before calling it in?
    Cheers,
    Darren

Does it work if you plug it into a different source? What if you plug the cable directly into the T500's onboard DisplayPort?

  • Connecting external display - mouse issues

Just converted from a Mac Pro (2007) to a new MacBook pro. This is my first laptop. I have successfully hooked up my old display to the laptop and drug over the task bar to it, but the mouse wants to go back to the laptop every time I move it. Am I misunderstanding how this works? Does this not function like a dual desktop? Can I not hide the smaller one altogether and work on the larger display? I have a Mac keyboard and a mouse hooked up to the MacBook so it basically functions like a desktop. Any advice is appreciated.

schorner- There is plenty of room for the cables. Yes, I would have liked all cable inputs on one side, but you have more than enough slack to play with. I have the 13".
I am hooked up to the Apple 24" LED Cinema and there are no screen/video issues. Everything is same as my 15" MBP. A nice way to take the 13" Air and turn it into an iMac.
I bought the 24" when I knew the 27" was coming out. For me, the resolution of the 24" is better suited for me. Plus, the 27" is a monster. I had a 24" iMac when they first came out and ended up selling it because it was just too big. But this more wide ratio is much nicer.
So I wouldn't worry about using the 27". I'm sure it will look great.
