Displaying Refresh, Edit Page, Customize Page buttons from Banner Template

I have built a customized banner template which displays button images for refresh, edit page, and customize page. The functions all work well, but these functions should not be invisible to the user when they do not have the proper privileges
For Example, when page caching is enabled, I need to see the Refresh Link (icon), or when the user cannot edit the page, then the icon for page editing should not be displayed.
What are the API calls that I can make from a banner template to decide if the page is cached or not?
How do I tell whether the user had edit page privilege? Customize Page?

All these solutions offered above are correct related to the refresh of the page, but it seems to be other problem, it seems that when the Save button is pressed, the commit is done(after I press Save I checked the database and the row is updated), but the transaction is not ended, it seems to get stuck, this is the reason why a refresh is not done on the page, only when Cancel is pressed, the transaction finishes and the page refreshes.
Is this possible for the inline popup, not to end the transaction even if on the task flow I have a task flow return for Save, where at the End Transaction property I have Commit?
I have changed the task flow by setting Behaviour to <No Controler Transaction>, for the task flow returns I changed End Transaction from Commit/Rollback to none and added on the jspx page of the inline popup the Save and Cancel buttons, with actionListener="#{bindings.Commit/Rollback.execute}" but the problem remains the same.
I suppose that it's a problem with the way I use the VO instance in the popup. Do you have any idea in what situations this can happen or did you encounter similar situations?

Its an interesting scenario .Anyways to add an email link to the confirm.jsp all you need to do is to add the below javascript and html to confirm.jsp

Adding these lines will you a link for email on confirm.jsp on clicking on which you will get a new window with the Cc and all
the required fields and it is used for sending the mails. But your issue for sending the item data from confirm page is still left.
I will also try to find out the easiest way to send this data.

How to display and edit the clob datatype column from Data base

Hi ,
I have a requiremsnt as below
1) One Table having some columns with CLOB data type along with varchar columns
2) need to display the data from DB in search screen and need to be edited clob column in edit screen
I created EO and VO with that Table and how to display the clob value into the input box for editing.
using Jdev 11.1.1.5.0 version.

If you are using an inputText component to display a Character Large Object (CLOB), then you will need to create a custom converter that converts the CLOB to a String.

How do I display Canvas Graphic image (Not Iconic button) from jar file

Hi all,
I am currently using Forms 10g.
I have gone through the tutorials on how to add Button Icons into Jar files for web enables forms .....so far so good
This however does not explain what I actually want to do... since "graphic images are by nature embeded in the for rather than referenced ......so here goes ..
I have a forms 10g application where all the individual form modules/canvases display a big banner (covering top 20% of the screen). This was done by importing the image straight unto the content canvases. As you know this now becomes a "graphic Image" now embeded(& not referenced by file name) on the canvas. Also bear in mind that this is actually different from an "Image Item" which is a block object.
I dont know if this is possible, but what steps do i follow to make the image part of a jar file as opposed to my current situation. Please let me know if possible or not so I stop waisting development time looking for answers :)
Another question is how do i make this jar file a library object so that we can vary the image as we wish
NB: one other trick which i can think of is to create a giant push button across the screen to display the image and then stick it in a jar file !

I don't know about embedded images imported in from the builder, but there is a way to use READ_IMAGE_FILE into a BLOCK.IMAGE_ITEM where the images are all in a jar file stored on the OAS.

Unable to display Refreshed editable alv

I have developed editable alv which contains 7 colums. the final column is the addition of 4th n 5th cplumn. when i refresh after changing the values, the final column is not changing. but while debugging the changed values are reflected in internal table but its reflected in alv.

Footer content only on the second page of output document from rtf template

I have a requirement for which my output document should contain signature section (possibly footer ) that needs to be only in second page of output document. As you see in the template has xml data that gets passed and the length of the document is based on amount of data that gets passed. Irrespective of the length of the document. Only and Only on second page of the output I should see the signature section. I am not able to use native Word session break etc.
Is there a way to use XDO api etc to accomplish this ?

Newbie question: How do I cange text on the buttons from a template?

I don't mind when it takes a while to figure out stuff that's really complicated, but it kills me when I can't get something that should be (and I'm sure is) easy. I have my first downtime since getting my Final Cuts bundle and am trying to figure out DVDSP using a menu template to start. I've managed to import all my assets, manage the navigation, change the title, add a slideshow, do looping and linking, and everything plays fine in the simulator. What I can't do is change the names from "Button 1" etc to appropriate names, ie "contact". I'm sure it's something really simple, but I'm not finding it. Any help out there?

Customize page

since the customize page is provided by oracle portal, is there a way to edit the customize page with my own tools such as JAVA or JSP (or servlet) or is there existing another oracle portal to edit the customize page?

Yes, you could do this. First set the banner on and display the page. Copy the link location on customize link. Then create your HTML portlet which includes the link. Then turn the banner off again. The downside is that you do it for each page individually.
Moving forward, we are adding page template capabilities which will make this a little easier and more robust.

How to remove the EDIT button from Overview Page

I have a overview page for Service Request(SRQM_INCIDENT_H - component). Now, I want to remove the EDIT button from the overview page and want to place it for each assignment block.
I have seen the there is concept calles VIEW_GROUP_CONTEXT. However, I am not sure how exactly I need to apply that and what code and where I need to write.

we removed in our system a lot of the standard buttons in this overview page like this:

I am using Sun Studio creator2 and this is what I want to achieve:
When I click on "Load" button, the image is displayed on the web page(the application is a web application)
I have dropped the "image" object from the pallette

How to Navigate from Graph page to Customization page?

Hi All
If i need to navigate from Graphs page to customization page on clicking the graph, What are the steps to be followed?
Also in that customization page i need to make changes in the SQL statement for graph also the type of graph( Pie or Bar).... when i provide this changes it needs to be saved. And when i save it has to provide me the new graph according to the edited SQL Statement...
How to achieve this?
Can anyone pls pls help me out in resolving this issue???

You can programmatically define a destination URI on a graph, that allows users to drill down to additional information. If the Destination URI property is defined on a graph, the URI specified is used as the drill-down URL. The Destination URI can be an absolute URL or a relative URL to an OA Framework page. The group and series values for each data point are appended to the specified destination URI, so that the resulting URL is specifically associated to a particular data point plotted in the graph. The group and series values can be obtained by the destination page using the parameters OAGgroup and OAGseries.
For the drill down feature to work, you must also set the Display Data Bubble Text property on the graph to True. Enabling this property generates an image map, which is required for the drill-down feature to work. When a user selects any data point in the graph, the specified URL is launched.

I read this problem have called with the helpdesk they didn't know the solution but how can I find the solution:
In Pages 09, I can't scroll down andand click on text to edit it!! All the mouse will do is draw gray transparentboxes and not place the cursor in the text. Again, like the display problem, itdoesn't happen at the beginning of the doc, but starts showing up around 50 to60 pages in ... I can't select text at the bottom of pages ... at 50 pages, thecursor can be clicked into anyplace on a page. Further and further down, the unselectablearea on any particular page creeps up from the bottom line by line: at 175pages in the unselectable area is 12 lines high; at 360 pages in theunselectable area is 25 lines high. and finally at around 440 pages down, Icannot place the cursor anywhere on any page all the way to the end of thedocument.

As we are end users like you, we can't change the app behavior.
Under 10.6.8 you have the buttons allowing you to scroll one line up or one line down.

How can I create a navigation bar in the template so I can change the down state of a button on a page made from the template in DW3?

We're creating pages from a template in DW3. The template includes a header, footer and a navigation bar. We've made the navigation bar an editable region so that we can change the down state of the buttons on pages where it is required. However, when we make a new page from the template and try to change the behaviors of the buttons in the navigation bar it will not allow us to make those changes.

Have you considered using CSS styled text/list menus instead of image rollovers. It isn't hard really and it's actually a much better choice for web accessibility and for search engines to find and follow your links. Here are some links to several CSS menu systems you can try:

How do I refresh a chart in Pages copied from Numbers?

How do I refresh a chart in Pages (v.5) copied from Numbers (v.3)? After updating and saving the chart in Numbers, I get no "refresh" button in Pages when I click on the chart. Or has this very useful feature been eliminated?

It isn't as easy as it should be. Here is a way to get a good copy of it:
Print the page that has the chart but choose "Open PDF in Preview" instead of sending it to your printer.
In Preview, using the rectangular selection tool, select the chart and whatever other elements you might want to include (title, legend, anything else nearby).
Copy
New from Clipboard to create a new document from it. Or you can paste it in another app.
This should give you an exact copy of what you had in Numbers and it will not be pixelated.
