Distiller crash when printing from air 3.2

I have a problem with the new air runtime 3.2 when printing to pdf. For some reason when printing an movieclip through the pdf printer. It crashes.
-What i've tried so far.
Updated the air runtime // dev kit in flash builder. Changed the app xml and recompiled.
Removed the PDFX4 2008.joboptions (Suggested in some forums)
Tried to set the transparancy option to none (somewhere in the joboptions file).
What is odd, it works perfectly with the old air runtime engine 3.1. But after updating to air 3.2 it crashes.
This was the error message, it probably has something to do with text/embedded fonts (pure graphics seem to wordk). But i'm not sure. The error from the log file :

I tried it with acrobat 8 (also worked with air 3.1)

I seem to have solved my own problem (will need some further testing but for now it is working). For some reason the display object that has to be printed needs to visible on the stage. So constructing an (sprite/movieclip with classic textfields) in memory and sending it directly as a printjob resolves into a crash. But if you attach it to the display/stage before sending the printjob, the problem seems to be resolved. Maybe this is the same reason why a printed sprite/movieclip gets corrupted after printing.

  • Print crash when printing from Mail or TextEdit, but not InDesign

    Hi,
I'm unable to print from any application other than InDesign. Up to now I've tried Mac applications - Mail,TextEdit and Safari - and a third party application DevonThink. All crash the minute I hit command P.
I suspect the trouble started when I installed a printer driver for a Canon IP90 bubble jet. I've now removed it from the print list, to no avail, but it might be lurking somewhere else. My usual printer is a Xerox Phaser 3450 PS.
Has anyone else experienced the same and does anyone know how to fix this?
    Chris.

Yes, today with Mac's First Aid from the installer disk - no problems identified. Permissions are also repaired every time I back up (daily) with Super Duper.
I've had a response regarding other problems I'm having that it might be that as I have only 1.6 GB free capacity that this is maybe contributing to the problem. But why the difference between InDesign and Mac applications is a bit of a mystery.
    Thanks for your response.
    Chris.

  • Firefox crashes when printing from the web.

Mac user with OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). Have had repeated problems with Firefox in all versions crashing when trying to print from the web or using print preview before printing. Currently have Frefox v3.6.16 for MAC. Am printing to an HP 1315 AIO and HP 1210 AIO printers. Very irritating! Can copy paste web stuff to Word and print OK. Problem went away with OS 10.6 and Firefox 4 on my new MAC.

Inconclusive Evidence, I have tried all of your recommendations with no success. I can print with any other applications, just not Firefox, so I know it is not a problem with my driver. I'm stuck as to what to do at this point. Any other tips? Thanks for your help!

  • Word, Safari, etc crash when printing from HP C4780

I recently reinstalled (fresh install) Leopard 10.5.8 on my iMac PPC; works fine.  Then installed an HP C4780 printer for use on that Mac.  No drivers for that printer exist on the basic Leopard install, so I installed the HP drivers from CD (also tried downloading updated ones from the HP site).  the install goes fine, and I can print a test page.  I am guessing this has nothing to do with it being a PPC, which is why I'm posting this question also on the iMac/Intel threads.
However, whenever I try to print (or print preview) a page from anything else (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Safari, Firefox), the application that I'm trying to print from crashes.  Every time.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail.
I'm out of ideas now.  Does anyone have a clue on this one?
    Thanks
    Dennis

The HP website lists drivers specifically for 10.4, 10.5 & 10.6 - is that the set you installed? Since that driver lists 10.4 as being compatible it must be PPC compatible because Tiger predates Intel Macs. You have several Macs listed in your profile, what happens if you try to print share through another computer. Does the computer crash when you try to print then?

Thunderbird crashes every time an email is attempted to be printed. All printing drivers are up to date, Mac OSx is up to date, thunderbird is up to date. Printing works from every where else on the mac just not from thunderbird.

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately we have already tried in safe mode and the issue is still there. We have also disabled all addons, created a new test profile and uninstalled re-installed Thunderbird and all print drivers, and Thunderbird still crashes when you try to print an email. sorry will not be able to attach the pdf file - The file isn't damaged as it will print from other printers as  they all use the same print drivers as they print through a print server.
I have also attached to the printer off-line and used new printer drivers from HP and it still fails 20 page pdf and stops at page 9 saying cannot extract correct font.
the file was created in Quark express ver 8.

Is there a fix for this problem?

    Dear Mike Yin,
Thank you for your response. Your answer was the
reason for finding the real problem.
In december 2010 a SQL Server 2008 fix was the cause. I don't remember exactly the problem, but we changed the RSCLIENTPrint-x86.cab file. But instead to use the version of SQL Server 2008 we used the version of SQL Server 2008
    R2 (10.50.1600.1). This worked until
Windows 8 (Internet Explorer crashed when printing).
We fixed this problem by using the RSClientPrint-x86.cab file from SQL server 2008 (10.0.5500.0).
But we now get the known problem that the
activeX always must be installed again.
The reason for this is that the version of
    the SQL Server (10.0.5512.0)
and the rsclientprint.dll (10.0.5500.0) is different. SQL Server is newer (caused
    by a security patch (KB2716436)).
Do you know when this problem will be resolved
    by Microsoft?
    Work arrounds
I've also tried to install the RSClientprint.dll
every time automatically (without user interaction).
But this will be delayed the printing for more
    than 4 seconds. This
    is very annoying.
Another workaround is to generate a PDF and print the PDF. But this is also
    a lot slower.
Uninstall the security patch. but I don't know the security risk.

Right. After almost a day I finally sorted the problem.
Adobe Reader worked under the spare Admin account so I deleted that in case it was confusing the installer.  I then rerpaired persmissions.  I then re-installed Reader.  Same problem "Internal Error"!!
So, I re-created another Admin account and opened Reader.  No problem.  After clicking accept licence it opened up with a question to make default or not.  After this I hunted through every folder and found that Under 'User/Librarary/Application Support/Adobe' there was an Acrobat folder.  When I checked the account I normally use there wasn't, and never was??  So I copied pasted a copy of the Acrobat folder into the same location on the non working account and all is fine.
Problem for me is, why did this happen?  I wasted almost a day on this. Is it a problem with the installer, the Macbook or Permissions.  I checked permissions and they are identical to those on the spare Admin account.  So why did the installer not create the Acrobat folder on the main account from where it was installed?  Reason it concerns me is with regard to updates.  Will they also screw up?
I'll try to explore further as times goes on but for now I have to say I've had enough of Acrobat and Lion for one day.  "It just works".  Really???

  • Printing from Air output

    Hi all,
When I go to print from an Air output, the formatting is a
little wacky. It appears that when it prints, it enlarges the
content to fill up the whole page, which leads to large fonts and
    screen shots being chopped off.
Is there any way that I can use a print.css? I've tried so
far and it doesn't appear to work. I was hoping someone knows a
nice work-around that can make printing from Air look nice instead
    of having everything blown up.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I tested this function after reading Moranis's post. Same for
    me.
The solution suggested by Rick is OK if you want to print the
PDF version of the help - which has to be prepared an distributed
and which, depending on the size of the help, can be huge. And then
the user would still have to find the page corresponding to the
    current topic.
But I think most users will just want to print the topic
displayed, and right-clicking was the simple way to do it and get
the same result as what you saw on screen.
I think there is an issue here for future improvement. For

  • Indesign CC 2014 crashes when printing to Fiery server

This is to remind Adobe that issues printing to Fiery print servers from Indesign CC 2014 (10.0 or 10.1) on Mac have not been resolved.
A patch has been provided here: InDesign & Illustrator | Crash while printing to Fiery RIP | MacOS   --- however, the problem persists after patching. I should note that the fix at that link only pertains to Indesign 10.0. If you download Indesign 2014 from Creative Cloud you would, at this time, receive 10.1. That script will break 10.1 completely. There is no fix for 10.1.
The original thread for this discussion is here: Indesign CC 2014 crashes when printing   It's marked 'Answered' and methinks the ongoing conversation there has been over-looked.
I am bumping this topic to keep the conversation fresh. If anyone else has found solutions to printing to Fiery from Indesign 10.x either by updating Fiery directly or with additional scripts or workarounds, please share them here.
I could publish one of my 10.1 crash logs if I could be advised which pieces are most important, or how to post the unabridged without spamming the forum.
That's the constructive bit. Here's my rant...
After speaking to Adobe on the phone, they tell me this isn't resolved yet because it affects only a small subset of people. I called some peers at other agencies across my region and learned they all use Indesign with Fiery servers. We are not an isolated few! (those fortunate individuals I spoke to are still using CS6 -- and I received some jovial ribbing for having my on-going CC subscription.) I have a lot of printing to do on the Fiery now that these projects are finishing, but i'm held up while down-saving these projects to be used in CC (9.x). Its frustrating, its time-consuming, and its simply unacceptable to CC subscribers as we move in to 2015. I urge Adobe to work with EFI to solve this problem once and for all.

This is a user to user forum with "some" Adobe staff participation, report bugs at this link
