DNS error for localhost:8080 with Tomcat

jdk1.2.2 is up and running and then I installed Tomcat on my Windows2000 PC.
Then in a DOS window I did this:
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\bin>startup
And this display resulted:
Using CATALINA_BASE: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\
Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\
Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\\temp
Using JAVA_HOME: C:\jdk1.2.2
But I get "Cannot find server or DNS error" when I try
http://localhost:8080/ or http://127.0.0.1:8080/admin
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Apparently the problem was caused by incompatibility between jdk1.2.2 and Tomcat4 as discussed in another topic on this forum.
When I switched to a Tomcat3 version, everything worked fine.

  • WRX Error-For consumables posting with Acc Assignment K

We are doing a GR for consumables posting with account assignment category K (Cost centre).  However, while trying to post the document, system issues a message that "Account determination for WRX cannot be determined".
Why this error is coming for consumables posting for a cost centre ?  Is it standard or am I missing any configuration ?

    Hi,
When you are booking a Consumption to a Cost Center at the time of GR, the entry whihc is passed is
    Consupmtion A/c Dr
    GR/IR Account Cr.
At the time of IR, the entry will be
    GR/IR Account Dr.
    Vendor A/c Cr.
So you will have to do the settings for the WRX for GR/IR account in OBYC.

  • Creating a DNS Record for a Host with Two or More IP???

Can we create DNS A Record for a Host with Two or More IP ... ( we like to use my website  "mysite.com" pointing to two Ips )
    Please help...

    Sure, no worries.
In a production environment DNS will query always the first record it will stores in cache, you need to find a dynamic or NLB way to achieve the automatic fail over else when you will have an outage with the first IP, then you need to ask your clients to
clear the cache and register to DNS again, this i will not suggest in a production environment, lots of manual efforts and doesnt sound like a solution in a production environment, i would suggest you to explore windows NLB, it's easy to set and use the OS
    license.
    Thanks

  • New DNS error for Back to My Mac?

when i check Back to my Mac i am getting an error that says "Contact your internet service provider for a different DNS server address, enter it in Network Preferences and try again."
does anyone know what this means and what is going on with this? will changing my DNS server address affect other things?
    THANKS

My suggestion would be to operate a seperate user account for the other Apple ID, it isn't all that elegant and would require you to switch users to control 2 of the macs, but it's all I can think of right now.

    Hi,
I made a small test servlet in a "hello world" style and I have problems to make it run under Tomcat 4.1.18 whereas it works perfectly on Tomcat 3.3 and Tomcat4.0.6...
Why do I get a 404 error with 4.1.18 whereas I can reach the servlet on other versions of Tomcat ??
Do you have an idea ?
Is there some new tricks in 4.1.18 ?

  • Access Denied Error For Shared Folder with Win Server 2008R2 Task Manager Scheduled Task

    Hi,
I have scheduled a Task with the Task scheduler. It invokes an .EXE file after every 5 min.
The application is supposed to access some files lying on a different Server's shared path, process them and move them across folders on the Shared path only.
Problem: When the .EXE gets executed from the Task scheduler, I am getting "Access Denied to the Shared path" error. I have already given Full Control to Everyone as well as to the Account with which the Task has been configured with.
Another important point to note is, if I run the .EXE manually, the solution is able is able to do everything intended; I don't get any Access Denied error.
Kindly help me with what needs to be done in order that this issue is resolved. This is really urgent for me.
    Thanks a lot in advance..

    Hello Alex,
first of all, make sure your task was correctly create: How to Create Advanced Tasks with the Task
    Scheduler.
    Please, read these:
    TechNet Library Task Security Context
    TechNet Forums post How
does "Run with the highest privileges" really work in Task Scheduler ? - Look at the answer "...When you want to run a program with admin rights from a standard user account, you have to select "run whether the user is logged
on or not" and select a user which is member of the admingroup."
    TechNet Forums post
Log on as batch job right (written on previous post)
serverfault Task Scheduler is not executing the program
    serverfault
unable to schedule a task (access denied)
UAC: Do you receive the User Account Control "Windows need your permission to continue" message to approve the scheduled application ?
If yes, maybe "Run with highest privileges" option will not take precedence of the UAC. While the Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account is enabled, UAC will still ask for approval according to the settings on the Behavior
of elevation to prompt for the administrators. Check whether the "User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account" is enabled. If yes, disable it or change the setting on "User Account Control: Behavior
of elevation to prompt for the administrators" to elevate without prompting.

  • Stack Overflow Error for JNI program with Jdk1.3

I wrote a JNI wrapper for a third party sofware (written in C) to use some exported functions provided. My program runs fine when using Sun JDK1.2.2, but I got the following error when using Jdk1.3 to run the program (It's a runtime error, only the version of runtime virtual machine matters.)
    # An EXCEPTION_STACK_OVERFLOW exception has been detected in native code outside
    the VM.
    # Program counter=0x9073337
A stack overflow was encountered at address 0x09073337.
I tried IBM jdk 1.2.2, it gave me a similar error complaining about the stack overflow error.
The vendor of the third party software denies any wrong doing in their code and I don't have their source code. A test client (simulate the Java client) I wrote in C works perfectly fine and as I mentioned earlier the same java progarm runs OK with jdk 1.2.2, without any change to my system stack size. Does any body know what this is about and the solution for this?
    Thanks!
    My email: [email protected]

I had the same exception occur in my JNI code and I have some advice on things to look for.
Symptoms: The C++ code runs fine when called in an native executable but when it is wrapped by a JNI call inside a DLL you get the following exception:
An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
    Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_STACK_OVERFLOW occurred at PC=0x100d72e5
    Function name=_chkstk
The address will be different of course.
In my tests I isolated the problem to an allocation of a char array like so at the top of one of my wrapped C++ methods:
    char buf[650000];
As you see this code is requesting 650000 bytes of stack memory. When run in a native executable there was no problem but when I ran it wrapped in the JNI call it blew up.
Conclusion: There is a much smaller stack space when using JNI OR the added overhead of my JNI wrapper exhausted the available stack space OR this is a stack space issue related to DLLs.
Hope this helps. Anyone with insight on this please put in your 2 cents.

  • EPub validation errors for chapters starting with an anchored image

I am generating an epub file using InDesign CS5.5.
I have set up a TOC and selected it during the epub export. It has one level based on my paragraph style “Caption” and works perfectly when I test the ePub file on iBooks.
Most chapters start with an image, followed by a caption (in paragraph style “Caption”, the same as I’m using to generate the TOC) underneath.
Images are anchored (using the blue box) to this caption in the Indesign file.
I have forced a page break before the image in the export to epub to ensure the image comes at the top of the page.
So far so good. All looks great and everything, including TOC, works perfectly in iBooks on my iPad and in Adobe Digital Editions.
However, my file will not validate because the TOC markers in the chapters which begin with the anchored image are missing – even though the TOC works perfectly as I’ve mentioned earlier.
As far as I can make out from the HTML, the anchored image is overriding the TOC marker, hence the error.
I’ve manually edited the chapter files concerned for now as I’m under time pressure to finish the job, but I’d really appreciate any advice on how to set up my InDesign file to avoid this error in the first place for future books.
(I’ve tried anchoring the image to a space before the caption text, and anchoring it to a soft and hard return but no joy. I could start the page with the caption followed by the image and force the break after the image instead of before it to solve the problem but my client wants the image at the start of the chapter and I agree it looks much better that way round…….)
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
I can post the HTML code the Indesign export is generating and the edited code if that helps at all.

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for your quick response.
I have Version 7.5 of InDesign CS5.5. Not sure if that includes the patch? If not, where would I get the patch from?
On the error, here are a couple of examples from the first 2 chapters - it occurs in every chapter that begins with an image:
    ERROR         OEBPS/toc.ncx         23       62       'toc_marker-2': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OEBPS/Inspirational_Love_V1-1.html'
    ERROR         OEBPS/toc.ncx         29       62       'toc_marker-3': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OEBPS/Inspirational_Love_V1-2.html'
Also, here's an example of the original HTML generated by the export which is missing the TOC marker:
    <div class="Basic-Text-Frame">
    <p class="para-style-override-1"> <img
    src="images/VX61_Fogra_USM_fmt.jpeg" alt="VX61_Fogra_USM.jpg"
    height="467" width="1400" /> </p>
    <p class="Caption">Refuge Cove, Wilson's Promontory, Vic</p>
And here's the corrected code which validates:
    <div class="Basic-Text-Frame">
    <p class="para-style-override-1"> <img
    src="images/VX61_Fogra_USM_opt.jpeg" alt="VX61_Fogra_USM.jpg"
    height="467" width="1400" /> </p>
    <p id="toc_marker-4" class="Caption">Refuge Cove, Wilson’s
    Promontory, Vic</p>
    Thanks for your help.

  • I had the "unknown syncing error" for so long with no improvement that I finally uninstalled Firefox sync--but I'm STILL getting the error all day long!!!!

Running Firefox 4.0, was running Sync 1.7 on a Windows XP machine. Became so frustrated with the constant error message at the bottom of my screen (Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action.) that I uninstalled Sync. However, after multiple Ff restarts the error message continues to appear.
I noted that at least 10 other people had posted this as a problem in the forums but didn't see any solutions.
    Can you help?

I know the last reply was from a couple weeks ago, but honestly, I haven't been able to find anything else in the last week of searching Google. I'm new to the MDT process but I'm having the same issue with what you posted. I can shift-F10 during the "Applying
system settings" and open my unattend.xml file and remove the IEWelcomeMsg line and the image deploys perfectly, so I know that's my problem. I can't figure out where that line is coming from. I have edited every unattend.xml file in the Templates folder under
MDT and also the one in my deployment task sequence, but somewhere during that deployment, that one setting gets added back to the unattend file and nukes the whole image. I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm implementing MDT to save time but I feel like the
last couple of weeks trying to get it to work have been a waste. I have thought about backing my reference image back to IE9, but having to deploy IE10 post image seems like it's an unnecessary burden. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Firefox is looking for localhost on 8080 but it is on Port 80

I moved countries and had trouble using localhost. I had some help but that did not work but I finally got localhost to work but my phpadmin still gives problems as firefox looks for localhost:8080/url instead of localhost/url.
    localhost is on pert 80.
can anyone direct my efforts. I think my "help" tried to reconfigure all my localhost to 8080 nad left some of these port directives in.

    Maybe check the connection settings.
You can find the connection setting here: Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection

  • How to create a single login for multiple apps on tomcat server?

    Hello,
I am running the most recent versions of apache and tomcat on several dells with XP pro.
When I login to an app I have created, a session variable is set, but when I browse to one of the other apps on the same computer, it does not recognize that the session variable has been set and I have to login again.
Can somebody please suggest how, or where I can find docs, to configure tomcat to pass the session variables to other apps?
    Thank you very much.
Or, can anybody suggest the most effective strategy for creating single-logon functionality for multiple apps with tomcat and apache running on one computer? and with tomcat and apache running on multiple computers? (i.e., each computer has tomcat and apache integrated).
The database is Oracle 10g running on each computer.
    Thank you again.

A good place to start is http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip34.html
Also, do a search in this forum on HttpURLConnection. That class allows you to use POST method to send form data to a web server.
"Hidden" variables are only hidden in HTML. The HTTP that gets POSTed to the web server doesn't distinguish between hidden and not hidden. That is, the content you would write to the HttpURLConnection.getOutputStream() would be something like:
hidden=1&submit=ok(Of course, the variable names would depend on what the web server was expecting from the form.)
Also, be sure to set the Content-Type request parameter to "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"

  • DNS zones for Mail virtual host

    Hello,
We have a split DNS server hosting mail for company.com. So we have a DNS zone called company.com with the appropriate records (A, MX).
We now need in the same box to host mail for another domain, company.org. Do we have to create a separate DNS zone for company.org with another A record for the server?
    Regards
    Kostas

If you're going strictly for mail and with no other network services are associated, then Camelot is quite correct and you can use an MX, and enable virtual hosting within the mail server.
If you're doing "other stuff" with that domain, then you'll need the zone.
Given the usual fondness for, well, "incomplete" questions and for server configurations and networks that, um, "evolve", then the answer I'd use is "yes"; add the zone.  (If for no other reason than somebody's eventually going to want a web server with the domain, or...)
I'm not a big fan of split-horizon though I can and do use it for specific cases. I prefer to partition "inside" from "outside", and that avoids this quagmire.
And FWIW, "example.com", "example.org" and "example.net" are RFC-reserved domain names available for posting obfuscated examples and questions, for documentation, and related use.  "company.com" and "company.org" are real and registered domains.

  • Localhost:8080 for Tomcat causes Cycle Error

I want to maintain a TomCat installation that is located at http://localhost:8080
Everytime I go to it, I get the error:
    Cycle Detected
Description: Your request is prohibited because it would cause a cycle.
what gives with this ? Yes, I upgraded to FF 4 and so far its a pain.
What the HELL happened to the status bar at the bottom of the page??!!

Apparently the problem was caused by incompatibility between jdk1.2.2 and Tomcat4 as discussed in another topic on this forum.
When I switched to a Tomcat3 version, everything worked fine.

  • Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD

Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD on a Windows 2008 server.

The global query block list is a feature that prevents attacks on your network by blocking DNS queries for specific host names.  This feature has caused the DNS server to fail a query with error code NAME ERROR for wpad.contoso.com. even though data
for this DNS name exisits in the DNS database.  Other queries in all locally authoritative zones for other names that begin with labels in the block list will also fail, but no event will be logged when further queries are blocked until the DNS server
service on this computer is restarted.
