  • IOS 6: Do Not Disturb and Clock app

    Hi all,
Does the Do Not Disturb feature stop the default Clock app from sounding an alarm?
    Thanks in advance!

DND apparently means "do not disturb me with phone calls or notifications". Alarms are viewed as being so important, they sound even with DND on and even with your Mute switch on silent.
I don't know of any way to keep alarms from sounding except turning the phone off. Be careful when you're at the library or an important lecture or a symphony concert.
And by the way, if DND is turned ON and your phone is not locked (for example, you're running a travel clock app all night) phone calls and notifications will come thru and are NOT silenced. DND only works when the phone is locked with the screen off. Some people think that's great; others feel it needs improvement.

  • Safari is not working and siri only works with the phone not internet related questions.

I have an Iphone 5 and for about 8 months it worked find, then somewhere along the line I think about the time I upgraded to the latest OS, Safari stopped working.  That is when I hit a link from email or open safari I get the browser window but nothing works, like its been blocked.  Siri of course only works with internal serches, through contacts and such.  My other browsers (crome, oprea and mercury) work fine.  I have been through all the internal settigns I can find, but nothing has worked.  Have cleared history cookes with no suceess.  Any ideas?

    Hello Mike,
Thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with Safari after upgrading to iOS 7.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhone:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the apps that are open, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:

If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhone:

    Do Not Disturb and Notifications
Push notifications appear in Notification Center and alert you to new information, even when the
associated app isn’t running. Notifications vary by app, but may include text or sound alerts, and
a numbered badge on the app icon on the Home screen.
Turn off all notifications: Go to Settings and turn on Do Not Disturb. When it’s turned on and
iPhone is locked, all notifications and calls are silenced, but alarms will still sound. You can set the
following options in Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb:
    • Automatically turn on Do Not Disturb: Set the starting and ending hours for when you don’t
want to be disturbed. iPhone turns on Do Not Disturb during these hours each day.
    • Allow some phone calls during Do Not Disturb: When Do Not Disturb is on, calls are silently sent
to voice mail. To allow some callers to ring through, tap Allow Calls From. You can allow calls
from your Favorites list or other Contacts groups you define. For information about Favorites,
see Chapter 25, Contacts, on page 100.
    • Allow persistant callers to ring through: Turn on Repeated Calls. If the same caller (based on
their Caller ID) calls you twice within three minutes, iPhone will ring.
Turn an app’s notifications on or off: Go to Settings > Notifications. Tap an item in the list, then
turn notifications on or off for that item. Apps that have notifications turned off appear in the Not in Notification centre

  • I have a frustrating problem with my iPhone 5 post ios8 installation. The ring tone won't sound when phone is locked/switched off, although the vibration does work. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb"

Hi, I have a frustrating problem that seems to have occurred post iOS 8 installation. When my iphone5 is switched off the ring tone fails to sound i only get the vibration. If i am using my phone and a have an incoming call then the ring tone works as normal. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb" ... i see from the menu in "do not disturb" that under the heading "silence" there are two options "always" and "only when the phone is locked" This does not seem to make sense as i have to choose one or the other!
If anybody can help advise me on this problem i would be very grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello Mogulman46,
So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Do not disturb" can not block "No ID CALL"
I tuned on Do Not Disturb and selected allow Favorites can call in. In iOS6 it can block the call No ID, but in iOS7 can not. Is it bug?

Make sure your 'Show in Lock Screen' options didn't get changed for any of those apps you want to see.  Mine are still showing up just fine with DND turned on.

  • HT5463 I have an iPhone5,iPad 3 & my daughter an iPod Touch 4th generation. We use Do Not Disturb. It turns by itself at 9:30pm & off at 7:00am. This morning, none of them turned off automatically. I manually backed them up to iTunes yesterday. Any though

I have an iPhone5, and an iPad3 and my daughter has an iPod touch 4th generation and her and I have separate accounts. I backed them up to my PC to iTunes last evening as I do every few weeks. We both use the Do Not Disturb option. Quiet hours are from 9:30pm to 7:00am. The 3 devices always turned the Do Not Disturb on and off according to the schedule on their own. As of this morning, the Do Not Disturb did not turn off on any of the devices. I sync them with iCloud either manually or when charging them. The moon icon stayed on all day today and did not follow the schedule. I had to shut it off manually on my phone. Any thoughts. My daughter initially had used her iPod Touch under an Apple account I made with my information. When I got my iPad and then iPhone5 I created a different account for her. Some items of mine went on her iPod Touch yesterday when I backed them up on iTunes on my PC. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It seems to be a glitch or bug. Its been officially acknowledged and addressed by Apple. There is no resolution other than waiting for a few days.   The Kb article by Apple states it will fix itself on January 7.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4510
    Symptoms
After January 1st, 2013, Do Not Disturb mode stays on past its scheduled end time.
    Resolution
Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.
To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.

  • What profile is similar to Do Not Disturb in old OS versions - Maybe an app?

Hi everyone...I'm coming from an 8703e (4.2 OS) - I used to have a profile named 'Do Not Disturb' which basically shows the missed calls, places them directly to voicemail but doesnt wake the display only shows LED notification. I dont see anything similar to this in the new OS for the Tour. Please let me know if you can help - thanks in advance. I tried Bedside mode but its kinda confusing - called my phone with it on and the call still came thru with the ring/vibrate instead of what I thought it would do, be silent - stupid me....lol - also tried the preloaded profiles but nothing behaves the same as Do not disturb - anyone know of any apps that can do this?
** basically dont want the display notification nor the audio to come up -

Well, you been given a couple suggestions.
Let's leave the thread open and see if another user has an idea on getting your DND profile set.
I know you could create your own DND custom profile and name it just that "Do Not Disturb", and include ALL of the notifications to blink or or not blink, etc., however I am not positive you will get the phone to NOT detect your device and light up the screen until it hits voicemail.
Like I said, I think you will need to adapt your thinking to what will work now, under these circumstances, and follow through.
You could turn off your mobile network but that won't accomplish your other need for notifications to blink, etc.
Someone might have a good all in one suggestion that I haven't thought of.

  • What's the point of "do not disturb"

Can't you just put your phone on silent if all it does is silence your calls/notifications? It doesn't prevent the notifications from showing up on your screen anyway so what difference is there between do not disturb and just silencing your ringer?

Do Not Disturb is more nuanced than just turning your ringer to silence. You can set it up on an automatic schedule, you can allow certain callers to get through, you can allow a repeat call within a specific timeframe to come through:

  • Do Not Disturb / Away? [Version 5.0.0.49715]

How can I tell if my Skype friends are Away or on DND for the most recent Android Skype update?
It is quite important to me as a dedicated Skype user to see this, as many of my friends use the two statuses. It is impossible for me to tell if they are at the computer.
Is there any workaround or an upcoming update to view these statuses?

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
Skype for Android shows only two statuses: "Available" or "Unavailable", the latter summarizing the presence statuses of "Away", "Do not Disturb" and "Offline".
Thanks for your feedback which I've shared with the product team for consideration.

  • TS4510 Jan 11th, Do Not Disturb schedule still doesn't work!

Do Not Disturb schedule "glitch" was supposed to self resolve after Jan 7th, now January 11th, no joy. Have reset the phone, reset Do Not Disturb and it still does automatically kick in as it used prior to Jan 1.

    iOs 6.0.1

Thanks. This seems to have solved half the issue. I tested it by setting a schedule and saw that the moon icon appeared but the calls were not silenced. I tried calling from my desk phone which is not in my favorites and the phone rang while the moon was on display.
