Does Mapviewer / Oracle Maps support file based raster imagery

Forum:
We have 1000's of ortho images that we are attempting to serve - with Oracle Vector data - using Oracle Maps.
mapviewe supports Georaster, and Image themes - and one can use Mapbuilder rather well to configure the system for these.
However - is there a way (other than to use a non-oracle WMS server) to serve up ortho images from their disk based locations if you do not want do load all your aerial photography into the database ?
And again thank you in advance.
JF

Hi,
if you have a non-Oracle WMS server that gives access to these images, you may define an external map cache source to access these images. Oracle Mapviewer provides a WMSAdapter class implementation that can be used in this case.
The follwing example shows the definition of an external map cache for Oracle Maps. Notice the adapter_class (which is shipped with MapViewer) and the properties parameters (which are used to define a WMS request).

  • Does Huawei router NE40 support Class-Based QoS?

    As I know Class-based QoS defines traffic classifiers based on certain rules and associates traffic classifiers with certain traffic behaviors, forming certain traffic policies. After
    these policies are applied to interfaces, class-based traffic policing, traffic shaping, congestion management, and precedence re-marking are implemented.
    Does Huawei router NE40 support Class-Based QoS?

  • Does Oracle Mapviewer / Oracle Maps require a license ?

    G'days Guys,
    Firstly apologies if this question has been answered before, but I've not been able find anything under Mapviewer or Spatial Forums regarding Oracle Maps / Mapviewer license.
    Can anyone confirm if Mapviewer is Free ? I was under the impression that it comes "free" with the OracleAS which itself requires a license however as long as mapviewer was being run under the OC4J container or Tomcat it was Free ?
    I've tried looking on the Mapviewer Website but can't find any information regarding it being licensed or free ?
    Regards
    Mark

    Hi, Mark
    As I know, Mapviewer is licensed now under Oracle Application Server and Weblogic Server.
    If you want to deploy it to third party J2EE container, you still need a license (OAS or Weblogic)
    try to search the forums, there was the same question

  • Does "Access Enforcer" only support "role" based SOD analyse?

    Hi Expert,
    In the demo script, when the user create the "Access Request Form", he can choose the "Role" he wanted from "Select roles" list, I'm just wondering whether each role here is corresponding to the role in the backend system? for example,
    If I choose role "Z_AP_ACCOUNTANT" actualy at that time there is a role called "Z_AP_ACCOUNTANT" already in the backend system if the system is a SAP ECC system.
    Another question is, if so, does that mean it can only support "Role" based SOD analyse? as you know, each role may contain several "authorization objects", can it be done from "authorization object" level?
    Thanks and best regards.

    Hi,
    The Roles are normally determined based on the SOD.Using T/code:PFCG the roles are mapped to the system.These Roles are common to all the system,regardless of R3,Virsa etc.
    The roles also can be determined without SOD [but this is not recommended.].
    The SOD is only to ensure that there exist no internal control weaknesses while creating the Roles at an organizational level.Thus it is only an excercise outside the System,be it SAP,Virsa or else.
    At the system level we map only the roles [ using :PFCG].We dont map SOD here.So,SOD or No SOD,the system supports the Roles.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

  • Does the SLM224G switch support port-based VLAN's?

    I am looking for a simple solution to create two LAN's. One for my own and one for my customers, who will be able to use desktop PC's with internet access. I have only one internet connection (DSL over ISDN) and wil not getting another just for my customers.
    My own network should not be accessible or visible to users who are using the customers-PC's. The other way around is allowed, but not really necessary. My setup requires me to hook up the switch to the (ISP) router, and that router just has one LAN port not able to do anything related to VLAN's.
    I read about port-based VLAN's here, where it is stated that creating seperate LAN's is just putting ports into VLAN's on the switch, nothing else needs to be done... However, they used a NetGear smart switch.
    I checked out Cisco's SLM224G as it is affordable, has 24 ports (instead of 8 for the NetGear) and should support VLAN's. I have read a lot about VLAN's, including:
    "- Port-based VLAN's means that you can reconfigure ports to be in different VLAN's. Port-based VLAN's do not confirm 802.1q VLAN support.
    - 802.1q VLAN's means that you can tag VLAN's with 802.1q headers to create a trunk between two devices that carries frames for multiple VLAN's. 802.1q VLAN's confirm that there is also Port-based VLAN support."
    I known from the spec sheets that the SLM224G supports 802.1q (tagged) trunking. So it should, given found text above, also support port-based VLAN's.
    My question is whether it indeed will support port-based VLAN's?
    Am I able to use it directly behind my ISP's router and create two seperate LAN's?
    If so, one extra question: how are the PC's behind the switch (inside the two VLAN's) get their IP-adresses from the ISP-router? Or will it service only one of the two LAN's and should I install a DHCP-server in the other LAN?
    Any information is very welcome!
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your responce, mr. Carr.
    I have read more about vlan's and their setup. I think the article about port based vlan's was lacking some information about the router/firewall. May be it was set up to work with different vlan's from the start. Strangely, in the text it is said that nothing needs to be set up besides the (Netgear) vlan-capable switch.
    So, from your response and other texts I learned I needed a vlan-capable router. I have to say that I need to be able to manage a server on the LAN from the outside (internet). I already tried to set up a Cisco/Linksys WRT54G router behind the ISP's (ZyXel) single LAN-ported router and that would not work at all (even when the Linksys was set in router-mode). I lost the connection to internet setting it up that way. I even tried to setup the Linksys in the DMZ of the ZyXel, with no luck. I was unable to set that up with working internet-access form the LAN. So I was not too happy with the suggestion to set up a (second) vlan-capable gigabit router behind the ISP's router....
    Eventually, I bridged the ZyXel to get rid of the double NAT/gateway mode of the two routers as routing mode did not work on the Linksys. The Linksys is now getting the WAN-ip from the ISP on it's WAN port and I furthermore used DD-WRT's firmware to enable the build-in vlan-capabilities of the Linksys.
    Now I have set up the Linksys with two vlan's and I bought the SLM224G as an inexpensive manageable 24-port vlan-capable switch to provide the number of ports I needed. I devided the SLM in two vlan's and used two wires from the Linksys to the SLM. So the SLM does support port-based vlan's by simply setting up two ranges of ports with different PVID settings. Trunking and 802.1q tagging isn't needed that way. I know I could have used two dumb switches to get two separate subnetted networks, but this way I get just enough ports in a single device where I have ample space to put it.
    Anyway, thanks for helping me understanding the way vlan-capable switches work.

  • Access to non spatial tables in oracle mapviewer/ oracle maps V2

    Hello,
    We want to have access to non spatial oracle tables (for value list creation etc), existing in oracle mapviewer spatial datasource (ex datasource: MVDEMO/ nospatial table: Employees).
    We have allready created the datasource MVDEMO and we want to avoid the creation of an external datasource to the same oracle user.
    Thxs,
    Bill

    Thanks.  Your answer was very helpful.  It pointed me in the right direction.  I wanted to be able to generate a table, below the map, which listed all the points (and their associated data) shown on the map.  The simplified code I used is shown below.  The function is called using an event listener (map.addListener(OM.event.MapEvent.LAYER_ADDED, createTable) which fires after the pointlayer is added to the map.
    function createTable(evt) {
        var tableRecords = pointLayer.getAllFeatures();
        var tableRecordsAttr = pointLayer.getAttributeNames();
        divElem = document.createElement('div');
        tableElem = document.createElement('table');
        tbodyElem = document.createElement('tbody');
        rowElem = document.createElement('tr');
        // create the table headings
        for (var i = 0; i < tableRecordsAttr.length; i++) {
            colElem = document.createElement('th');
            colElem.appendChild(document.createTextNode(tableRecordsAttr[i]));
            rowElem.appendChild(colElem);
        tbodyElem.appendChild(rowElem);
        // populate each row of the table with data
        for (var i = 0; i < tableRecords.length; i++) {
            rowElem = document.createElement('tr');
            for (var j = 0; j < tableRecordsAttr.length; j++) {
                colElem = document.createElement('td');
                colElem.appendChild(document.createTextNode(tableRecords[i].getAttributes()[tableRecordsAttr[j]]));
                rowElem.appendChild(colElem);
            tbodyElem.appendChild(rowElem);
        tableElem.appendChild(tbodyElem);
        divElem.appendChild(tableElem);
        document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(divElem);

  • Does typical oracle installation support intermadia configuration?

    do i have to install oracle in the custom mode in order to have intermedia configuration, or it is already supported when oracle is installed as typical.
    how can i know if it is supported or not?
    thanks.

    No. It is not configurable at B2B as of now. As soon as request will be processed, FA will be sent back to the partner. Usually such use cases should be handled by back-end system but you may file an ER with B2B PD with strong justification why this feature should be available in B2B. If it gets approved, you may get this feature in B2B.

  • Does photoshop cs5 sdk support file names with unicode characters?

    Hi,
    For the export module, does the windows sdk have support for filenames with unicode characters?
    The ExportRecord struct in PIExport.h has an attribute filename declared as char array.
    So I have a doubt whether filenames with unicode characters will be supported for export module.
    Thanks in advance,

    SPPlatformFileSpecificationW is not available in ReadImageDocumentDesc.
    It has SPPlatformFileSpecification_t which is coming as null for export module.
    I am using phostoshop cs5 sdk for windows.

  • Raster Theme with "Oracle Map -mapviewer ajax"

    Hi, Everyone,
    I tried to add a raster theme by using "Oracle Map".
    If I add my raster theme as based map, the mapviewer will correctly render image.
    If I add my raster theme as a FOI theme layer, the mapviewer will not render the raster image for me.
    Does anyone know if "Oracle Map" supports raster theme, or just vector theme? I just want to make sure if I am right on tract.
    TIA

    This didn't solve the problem.
    tile size is 2048 X 2048 where as map size is 800X800 but when a request is made, it fetches around 9 tiles.
    If I reduce the tile size to 256X256 it fetches around 33 tiles and from logs for each jpeg fetched querying/rendering time is 15 to 25 seconds.
    So it takes around 2 minutes to complete one request.
    It is too high, what can be done to improve mapviewer's performance with georaster themes?

  • Does oracle workbench support earlier versions of DB2 not UDB

    HI all,
    In our company we are migrating the DB2 (I think version 2.xx ) of OS2 to Oracle in windows ,
    Does the Oracle Workbench support for the earlier versions of DB2,
    if yes how?
    if no then what is the way to migrate?
    This is an urgent requirment, so pls. provide me a solution.
    Thanks
    Murali.v

    DB2 v2 would be at least 10 years back. That may be out of even SQLWays window for DB2.
    If indeed stuck without a tool.....
    Assuming that there are very few stored procs, triggers, and proprietary SQL views. (MWB DB2 plug-in wouldn't have solved those anyway). The "physical" design of the DB (tablespaces , indexes , etc. ) are likely completely lost using these approaches. There are a couple of ways to accelerate the doing it by hand approach.
    1. [ this is somewhat of a tangent] export the DDL (if you can) and push it into a more modern version of DB2 and have the MWB move that. Use the offline mode to generate suggestive scripts and SQL*Loader control files ( and perhaps also the new Oracle DDL. may have to make some tweaks to it and control files).
    pros:
    if there is a large amount of DDL mapping of types is done automatically.
    cons:
    may not be a handy version of DB2 UDB around. (a DB2 Express-C v 7 isn't
    prominent on the IBM site anymore. However, may be other versions around at
    you site.)
    probably would have to tweak the tablespace/index/etc declarations in the
    exported DDL. [ large assumption here is that not using a signficant amount
    of deprecated features. If the editing process too complicated effectively
    cheaper just to proceed to option 3 below. ]
    the data export utility script may need tweaks.
    [ if you have LOBS and/or binary columns you're likely to run into problems. ]
    2. Similar approach is to do a DDL capture into a tool like ERWin.
    [Not sure if there is a generic DDL capture mode in Jdeveloper that would even talk to DB2 v2  to create a UML model ]
    You then tweak that "design model" and instantiate into Oracle. ( as mentioned in another reply there are some issues you'll likely encounter. For example, some types don't map and the MWB docs can help. )
    pros:
    much of the straightforward DDL just moves over.
    cons:
    may be no tool that can do the design capture for DB2 v2 (was legacy embedded
    solution that ran for years that nobody touched. )
    with generic mapping loose lots of specifics.
    no control files, no export scripts, no warnings,
    3. as mentioned before. Edit the exported DDL. ( I'd strip out tables , indexes, etc. ) and just get it to load before moving one to additional Oracle specifics on those aspects.
    pros/cons mostly same as above, but even more manual work.

  • Dynamic FOI in Oracle Maps

    Hi!!
    I´m trying to use in the Oracle Maps a theme based FOI setting parameters dinamically,
    to show some features, according to the user preference. But, what I obtain is zero or all
    features.
    I changed the code in tutorial to our specific names, except that the in tutorial the names
    of cities are VARCHAR and I use an attribute named ID_TIPO which is NUMBER.
    The resulting code is below:
    var list=document.getElementById("idlist");
    var parameters="";
    for (var i=1;i<list.options.length;i++ )
    parameters=parameters+list.options.value+",";
    if (parameters.length>0)
    parameters=parameters.substring(0,parameters.length-1);
    var marrayPara = new ArrayParameter(parameters,'sarray','tipos_list');
    var themebasedfoi=mapview.getThemeBasedFOI("themebasedfoi1");
    if (themebasedfoi==null)
    themebasedfoi = new MVThemeBasedFOI('themebasedfoi1','mapoteca.TESTE');
    themebasedfoi.setQueryParameters(marrayPara);
    themebasedfoi.setBringToTopOnMouseOver(true);
    mapview.addThemeBasedFOI(themebasedfoi);
    else
    themebasedfoi.setQueryParameters(marrayPara);
    themebasedfoi.setBringToTopOnMouseOver(true);
    themebasedfoi.refresh() ;
    Tipos_list is defined as
    create or replace type tipos_list as table of number(38);
    The theme is defined as
    <styling_rules>
    <rule column="ID_TIPO">
    <features style="V.SHAPES_METADADOS"> (id_tipo in (select column_value from table(:1)))) </features>
    </rule>
    </styling_rules>
    In
    var marrayPara = new ArrayParameter(parameters,'sarray','tipos_list');
    what is the meaning of the 2nd parameter?
    Xks.
    Oscar

    You should use 'narray' as the second parameter in the ArrayParameter constructor. 'sarray' means the array is a VARRAY of VARCHAR2. 'narray' means the array is a VARRAY of NUMBER. I know that ArrayParameter is missing from the API doc. It's our fault. Here is the description that we forgot to include in the API doc.
    ArrayParameter(<String> array,<String> elementType, <String> sqlType)
    Parameters:
    array - a string that specifies the value of the array parameter. If the binding parameter is a number array, it should be specified in the form of num1,num2,...,numN. If the binding variable is a string array, it should be specified in the form of "str1", "str2", ...,"strN". The double quote " inside a string element must be escaped as \". A number array example: 1,2,3,4,5. A string array example: "abc","dadf","asdf\"asdf".
    elementType - a string that specifies the type of the array elements. It can be either "narray" (number array) or "sarray" (string array).
    sqlType - a string that specifies the name of SQL VARRAY type corresponding to the array parameter.
    Returns:
    The newly created ArrayParameter FOI object.
