Domain Name instead of IP Address

Hello,
When I run a JSP page from Jdeveloper, by default it is taking the IP address, how can I set this to take my computer domain name?

Yup... you can do it from Embeded OC4J Server Pref available from Tools menu
In this screen the select Global -> Startup, there you should be able to choose what you want to use. If you want to use custom value apart from IP/ Hostname liek 'localhost', you can do that also.
This works in 10g, but there should be similar setting in earlier version of jDeveloper as well.

I have a tomcat server installed on machine1(server). I can access this server from other computer on intranet using http://ipAddressOfServer/. Now, I want to access the server using a domain name, for example http://domainName.com. Can we do that in Tomcat or does it require to install any third party software.

You can associate a Virtual Host to the loopback IP address 127.0.0.1 read about Virtual Hosts here: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/virtual-hosting-howto.html
But with the above configuration alone you can access your app via http://somedomainname.com only on your local machine, no one else on the internet will see it.

SAML-based claims authentication in SharePoint: how to show Display Name instead of email address?

I followed the following step by step guide for SAML-based claims authentication with ADFS:

The authentication works well; however, Sharepoint shows the users’ email everywhere including at the top right suite-bar. I rather to see users’ display name instead of email. Is there any way to have SharePoint shows user’s display name instead of email
address when the primary SAML claim is email address?

How to retrieve the fully qualified domain name from the IP Address?

Hi,
How can i retrieve the commplete host name along with the domain name (something like x.y.com) of a server?
I tried using the InetAddress.getHostName(), getCanonicalHostName(), etc but it retrieves me only the host name (only x in x.y.com)
Is there a way to solve ?

getInetAddress() of Socket Class will return the remote IP address in a InetAddress object.
Use the object with the getCanonicalHostName() of InetAddress class.

Web Sharing - name uses weird domain name instead of IP

Just bought a new MacBook Pro and transferred my account info from my other MacBook Pro. When I go to Web Sharing to click on the link to go to my website on my local drive I get someonesname.companyname.net/~myname.
I need it to be the IP address.
The domain name someonesname.companyname.net shows up in the Networks Netbios setting as well.
I had to fix this on the last MacBook Pro, but that was two years ago and can't remember what I did to fix.

Database creation: use machine name instead of ip address.

I am creating a new database using the Database Configuration Assistant. After the install, it tells me that the EM can be approached through http://192.168.198.128:1158/em. However, since the ip-address is dynamic, i'd prefer to refer to the machine name instead of the ip address. During the setup I could not see where to change this.

Edited by: user10064100 on 8-dec-2008 7:48Ah, a server on a virtual machine. Why didn't you say that in your initial posting? I would think that would be much different situation than the usual 'changing ip' configuration of placing a sandbox database on a DHCP desktop or laptop machine...
I don't have any experience with VM's, so I'll leave that to those that do. At the least, I'd expect the loopback adapter to not necessarily be your solution. That's for the assumptions that I clearly stated in my first response. If those assumptions don't match your situation (and it is now clear that they don't) then you need consider that before taking any advice based on those assumptions.

Using own domain name , duplication of web address HELP !!

Although this is not a big problem it is quite annoying. I am currently building website within Iweb 09. I have managed to set up my own domain name with no problems at all. The only thing is I get a duplication of my website name on the browser here it is :
*http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk/topviewweddings/Home.html*
I would ideally like to just have *http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk*
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this ??

One way would be to use standard domain name forwarding (not CNAME) and enable masking. That would put http://www.topviewweddings.co.uk in the URL window of ALL your pages. The downside to that is visitors can only bookmark your first page which may or may not be a problem. My tutorial site, http://toadstutorials.info , is set up that way.

I am setting up a new Exchange 2013 server to replace an old GroupWise server. Forgive my ignorance but I am new to Exchange.
My AD root domain is like this "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET". The Edir is set as "WATER.TX.NET"
So with our GroupWise Server a users email is like
[email protected] Can I use the same format even though the Exchange server is in a root domain called "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET", or am I stuck with
[email protected] ?

Yes you can have them. This can be acheived using accepted domain in Exchange 2013 server as WATER.TX.NET

Interface name instead of ip address

I'm running PrimeLMS 4.2.4. I'm wanting to setup reverse telnet on several remote routers, so I'd like to use a NetConfig job to push out the configs.
I'm setting up a hostname on the routers to telnet through the aux port using the loopback0 address on the router. So, if my Loopback address is 192.168.1.1 then the hostname line would look like "ip host revtel 2001 192.168.1.1" Of course there is also some aux port config too. I have that part complete.
Is there a way to push out the line "ip host revtel 2001 <ip address of Loopback0> with a NetConfig job?

Muse is not publishing to my domain name, instead its publishing to business catalyst

I have several sites that are up and running a long time now with no trouble. Today i had to sign into muse and it said my trial had begun.
I signed out and back in again and now it will only let me publish to a businesscatalyst temp site

I would like to make OBIEE presentation url to use domain name instead of ip address. What and where is the change required for this?

One Arm config Domain Name Content rule

Hi Guys
How does domain name content rule works in one arm config.
What do we put in source groups as VIP address.
Does it need host headers in WebServer as a requirement.
How does the client request gets completed.

( As the CSS guide ( cntntgd.pdf ) says under Configuring a Domain Name content rule)

Enable service provisioning to be independent of IP-to-domain namemappings
Provision cache bandwidth as needed based on domain names
So I am trying to create a content rule with a domain name instead of VIP address. For ex.

VIP address ???????? ( what shd we put in here )
In this case what do we put as VIP address in source groups and how does the traffic flows from Client to actual Server in One arm topology. I am trying this topology where we have multiple sites configured with the same IP address with host headers
My assumption is that I shd configure DNS servers with VIP address for domain.com and use that as VIP address in source group. But how does the actual traffic flows from client to servers

Domain Name v IP Address

Hi,
I am running a windows 2003 network using a Microsoft exchange server. I have added imacs and other Macs to the domain with no problems they can see the exchange server and all accounts have their email addresses, however when I try adding an account using a mini Mac OSx 10.4.11 I enter the fully qualified domain name in the Search Domains area under system preferences/networking this binds with no problems like with the other machines but when I shut down and reboot I can no longer login unless I unbind and bind again. If I change the fully qualified domain name to the IP address of my server I can shut down login with no problems however when I do this I have no connection with Exchange. I would be very grateful is there was someone who could help me with this issue.

My belief is that DNS is a prerequisite for Mac OS X Server operations, and that a failure to get DNS stable and working causes problems and extra effort as various of the available and more advanced features are activated.
It has been my experience that failing to get DNS services going early enough makes for more work down the line as a network grows in scale and complexity. This is in general, and not just with networks involving Mac OS X Server boxes.
But this is your home server and it is not providing critical services and this is a configuration that will almost certainly serve as a valuable learning experience regardless of whether you choose to enable and use DNS services.
