Dots in usernames result in failed to create identity err: 8
publish documents on apache webserver, Novell 6.5 SP7 (OES2)
Directory Access control is: auth ldap module, use e-directory rights. Base DN is pointing to a container of aliases. Search attribute is UID (tried CN as well).
This works great, until someone with a "." in their name tries to authenticate to the web page. That won't work. Here's the log. I have searched and searched, but haven't found any details on the err and errno.
If I try john.doe, I get
[Wed May 14 17:12:02 2008] [debug] mod_auth_ldap.c(337): [client 172.27.43.97] [214] auth_ldap authenticate: using URL ldap://II4SVr11.mycompany.com/ou=information_services,o=provd?uid?sub

If I try john\.doe, I get
Wed May 14 18:18:14 2008] [warn] [client 172.27.43.97] [233] auth_ldap authenticate: user john\\.doe authentication failed; URI /surgery [User not found][No such object]
I don't have any control over the 'dots' in the userid's.
The users are being authenticated, but it appears Apache is having some issue.
Thank you
Hello, and thank you for the reply.
We do create in C1 with '.' in the username. This is allowed by Novell. We have the option set to yes in the Novell Client properties, advanced Login tab, to "Allow Dots in Username". I have since redeployed the Webserver in IIS. All of the users are in AD as well as eDir, so the users can authenticate in IIS just fine.

currently it seems to me that you're lost: the prob is within mod_edir in
first place; there we have a function which replaces the LDAP commas to dots
to make a usual eDir DN from the LDAP one.
Since with non-LDAP DNs dots are used to separate between user, ou, o I'm in
doubt that a dot in the username might be a valid char at all; f.e. how would
you specify an absolute DN with Client32? F.e. if you use:
..john.doe.firstou.secondou.organisation
this would be avaluated such as 'doe' would be the first container instead of
'firstou' ...
A quick test with NWADM32 shows that it refuses to create a new user like
'john.doe'; so if any other tools like f.e. C1 accept this I consider this as
bug.

Failed to Create identity on server err: 115
I have an NW6.5 sp6 (plus several post sp6 patches). I am using eDirectory
rights to restrict access to a web folder.
With the exception of two people in my eDir group everyone can access the
url with their eDir username and password.
I cannot see what is wrong with the remaining two users. They are in the
eDir group in the same ou.
The Apache error log shows:
failed to create identity for
cn=username.ou=container.ou=container.o=organisati on on server servername
err: 115 errno:
Any ideas? I am stumped.

check if these users have the UID populated; I guess these 2 users were
created with nwadm32 instead of C1 which doesnt set the IUD field.

For PostUUT in the NI teststand II courese example 4-1 Modifying callback.seq, there are two steps, one is Test Passed,
the other is Test Failed, both set each preconditions, for example, Parameters.Result.Status == "Failed" in the test failed step, if the step failed in the main sequence, the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
but I can't find where the string "failed" is created in steps in the main sequence.
Because I can't find any expression in any steps to fill into Parameters.Result of the test failed step in the PostUUT.
In fact, when running if step fails, the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
Would you please explain for it ?
thanks,Hi,
Look at the Sequential Model Sequence File, and either the sequence SinglePass of Test UUTs for the step that invokes the step Post UUT.
Then look at the Parameter List for the SequenceCall for that step. you will find your answer.

Plant Connectivity Error failed to create ConnectivityAgentProxy
Dear experts,
I currently installed installed PCo on a XP Machine and after I change the network ID of the PC and the workgroup the agent instance is not able to start properly. I receive the following message:

As the other applications like OPC Scout are able to connect to the DCOM (at least this is my understanding) in order to query the OCP Server, it seems to me that there is a Plant Connectivity problem. I tried to find out where the settings ConnectivityAgentProxy are detailed - I thought something like an .ini, .xml file - but unfortunately I did not find anything. Do you have any suggestion, advice?
Thanks in advance,
Florin
Before I start with installing image of the PC with the image before doing the network id name change i would like to ask you if there is any setting, configuration fileDo you have a named user entered for the Agent Instance Service User name/password? If so, you may have to delete and re-enter the name\password to reset this. If you are using DCOM over a workgroup, the same workgroup user name/password must be set up on both the PCo server and the OPC Server PC's.
Hope this helps.

I have already solved the problem , I have done the following actions:
1. Stop J2EE engine
2. rename folder
/usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/j2ee/os_libs/adssap
Please rename this adssap folder to adssap.old
3. Start J2EE engine
During starting J2EE engine, folder adssap will be re-generated.
4. Also make sure XMLform.exe is extracted under
/usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/j2ee/os_libs/adssap/XMLFormService/bin
I restarted the entire instance (ABAP and JAVA) and now all is running fine. -
Recovery Manager Failure: Failed to create EFI partition
Envy 15-1055SE
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
The original HD failed (500GB) and it was replaced it with a working unit of the same size (500GB). Since the hard drive was completely dead and I no longer had access to the recovery partition we installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on the new hard drive, assuming we could use my Windows Key and then just download all the applicable drivers from the HP site. Windows did install and was running, but since my key was not compatible and trying to get all the correct drivers for my specific notebook was essentially impossible I rush ordered the recovery discs form HP. Once received, we then attempted to restore the system using recovery media supplied by HP (590684-003 , WINDOWS 7 PREMIUM 64B + SUPP 2 RECOVERY).
Multiple attempts were made with the replacement HD raw, formatted or untouched from the last failure. I have also downloaded and used the Cyberlink Recover Discs Utility from the HP site that supposed to resolve Recovery Discs issues, but all attempts ended exactly the same way. After using and ejecting all three recovery discs Recovery Manager terminated with the same error:
Recovery Manager
The Recovery Attempt has Failed.
Select one of the following buttons
[Savelog] [Details] [Retry]
Pressing [Details] results in this message:
CTO ERRORFLG
Fail to Create EFI Partition...
Diskpart return error level [-2147024809]...
Retrying ultimately loops to the same error.
So, what now???So I took your advice and called HP support. As you stated, they recommended new recovery discs, which they sent me and I recieved today. So I went through the whole process again and got the same error.
When I was on the phone with support they mentioned that I could have purchased a replacement drive from them for 2.5 times the price i paid for mine. And they didn't confirm if that would fix my problem or come with everything already installed.
At this point I'm at a loss, I don't have the money to pay that much for a "possible" solution, when I have a perfectly fine working new hard drive already.
There has to be a solution out there, as everyone I talked doesn't understand why the recovery disc/process isn't working. Can someone please provide some useful advise/suggestions? -

Hi
My Customer resonse a user's ifolder client (3.8.0.8)could not start , and I check it and find some information in error message of iFolder below (Only one user , and he could login by web)

whether Client will create a DB when it first start up or not ?
I try to uninstall .NET 2.0 & ifolder client, I still get the same result.
Who had seem similar issue like me, and could provide method for me ??
thanks!!
wyldkaoThis error FERR_FILE_EXISTS comes when the db is already accessed by one process and another process is trying to access the same.
Could you check if simias.exe is already running. If so, kill it and restart.

ADT: Web Dynpro view/window error "Failed to create the part's controls"
Hi, all
Most of the things in my ADT work fine (e.g. programs, structures, domains), even the Web Dynpro Componentcontroller can be edited.
However, with Web Dynpro view and window I get this error message: "Failed to create the part's controls".
In SAP GUI everything works fine.
Why could this happen and what can I do?
My system details:
32-bit Windows 7
Eclipse Luna Release (4.4.0)
ADT from https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler, according to these instructions: SAP Development Tools for Eclipse.
SAP GUI 7.30, patch level 9.

Java: SE, version 7 update 60
Activated services (SICF): wdy_aie_vd_preview, toolsdocu, docu
The Java error log in Eclipse is quite long. It starts with:

As it is not popular to post long logs unnecessarily, I will skip the rest of it for the moment - let me know if it could help and I will post it.
Thanks for help!
KR,
IgorHi Ponraj,
note applied without any problem.
I'm still facing some difficulties accessing a WD component, maybe you could suggest me how to solve/proceed:
in Eclipse Luna, I can access now a WD but "Layout" tab doesn't work - HTTP 403 Forbidden - Service cannot be reached. I guess it's a missing configuration, could you help me out on this?
EDIT: This one is solved; I just missed to activate a service in SICF (WDY_AIE_VD_PREVIEW).
That Eclipse module however seems not to be very stable; I tried to open a standard SRM WD view (wd component /SAPSRM/WDC_DO_SOCO_GAF_1, view V_AO_SOCO_GAF_1) and that resulted in the message:
500 SAP Internal Server Error
ERROR: Conversion of type C LENGTH 255 to type TABLE OF DEEP_STRUCTURE not supported. (termination: RABAX_STATE)"
is there a way, from the Methods tab, to access directly to a particular method's implementation? The only way I found is going manually under the IMPLEMENTATION tab and CTRL+F with the method's name.
is there any way to access to a particular enhancement made on the WD? Using SapGUI, there's a special "vortex" button to switch on a specific enhancement, but under Eclipse I can't find the alternative command.
I know we're getting a bit OT with respect to the topic, anyway if there's a guide that could help clarifying my doubts please, share that documentation

May I ask if any expert encounter this problem before and if there is any solution?
Any comment is appreciated.
Thanks,
XinyingWell the error points to an issue with the account being used, are you sure you can log into hyperion products using the same password
At the last stage when you enter the username/password make sure you clear out any username in the input box and enter only the username.
I take it you have been able to create planning applications before?
Cheers

Hello,
When I try to run a system state backup with this command: wbadmin start systemstatebackup -backuptarget:<drive letter>
I get the error
"Failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.
ERROR - Volume Shadow Copy Service operation error (0x8004230f)
The shadow copy provider had an unexpected error while trying to process the specified operation."
I'm not sure how to fix this. I'm logged into the machine as an Administrator.
Windows Server Enterprise 2008 SP2 64-bit
Any suggestions??After I re-registered the dll, I'm still getting the same error in the command window. The DLL registers successfully and the "MS Software Shadow Copy Provider" starts fine.
