Download To Excel in Web BEx.

Hello,
As per requirement, I have built one BW report on Web, which encapsulates 3 sub reports i.e. I am displaying 3 reports on the same page. As the 3 reports have sources from different cubes, I am not able to provide the "Download To Excel" capability, which pulls data from all 3 reports (in BW Web).
Can you tell me if there is a way to do this on BW Web.
Thanks.

If you use the command CMD=EXPORT FORMAT=XLS you will be able to download only 1 data provider to Excel. The work around is to use a Javascript solution for copying the content to clipboard and downloading to Excel.
The attached How to document has the code and step by step instructions for the same. The screenshots are from BW 2.0B.

  • Download to excel from web report generated through ITS

We were on SAP 4.6B. We have several abap reports for which we have a web interface using ITS. On the broweser output we have provided a URL which reads 'Download to CSV file' . This has been achieved by modifying the function www_get_report. The mod first generates a unique filename and exports the name to the memory and generates the hyperlink. The abap report program ftp'ies a the csv file to the ITS server path as in the URL.
Now we have upgraded to ECC 5.0 and we want to achieve the download to CSV option without the modification. What would be the best way to achieve this in the netweaver platform.

    Sofia,
The same report query runs for downloading the data into excel, I don't think you can limit the number of records in download.
You can achieve it using custom code, like on click of download excel redirect to another page and then restrict the data as per your need, or you can use the custom procedure to download the limited data.

  • Download-to-excel vs. web print to excel

There is an old how-to guide about downloading web report to Excel and it worked fine. Now we are implementing the web print to Excel function. However, two concerns:
    1) what's the advantage of web print to excel over download to excel function?
    2) in web print to excel, the header is fine but the cells of rows are all aligned in first column vertically! I only imported the classes and used the HELP class but did not configure the XML tags.

Using the old How to guide (2.0B) you will only download the data on the screen, if you had multiple pages it will not download any of those extra pages.
The new Excel print is based on MS Office HTML, here you have more options for setting print options by default in the template, like page orientation, repeating column headers, paper size (legal, A4 etc..), report header etc... you can also have a print specific template using the device types.
One more advantage over the 3.0B Excel download is if you use Table APIs for manipulating data it will be taken into account with the new soltuion. This also supports multiple data providers.
    Thanks.

  • NO header detail appears when downloading to excel from web template

When we run our queries via a web template and through the portal we get the results which shows the query title and report details. When we try to download this to excel the header(report title etc. )information doesn't come down but all the rest of the report does. If we go in again and change the variable values for characteristics (query is being changed and run the web template (via portal)again and download to excel the header (report title etc.)the whole report title and report detail now appear. Looking for someone who has resolved this problem.

For anyone who is interested, this was caused by our email client, not BIP.

  • Web report download in Excel - unlink to BW

    Hi,
When a report is downloaded in Excel, the system requires the user to sign in to display the report. Can a report be exported to Excel without keeping the link to BW ?
    Thanks

    Hi David Thoumieux,
One best way to download reports to Excel is to use BEX download scheduler.
In this you do the following steps,
    1) Create an scheduling package in Reporting agent tab in RSA1. While creating you will have the option to save it as Excel or web template.
    2) Run the package created by you
    3) You can open download scheduler and download it to excel.
Now you won't be asked to sign in.
    Hope this helps.

  • Download to Excel with Images

    Hello
The download to excel and PDF documents now includes images.  I have inlcuded images in my web templates to execute commands eg: Download to Excel, Bookmake etc.
    See below:
    img onclick="executeJS_EXPORT_XSLT120();" alt="Download to Excel" src="bwmimerep:///sap/bw/Mime/BEx/Icons/S_X_XLS.gif" border="0"
These images are simply for command execution and look out of place and serve no purpose in the excel or PDF files.
    My Question:
Is it possible to exclude these images in the docnload to excel and PDF?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Download to excel from ALV via portal

    HI,
Could anyone out there help me resolve one issue which I am facing.
We have developed a ALV report and the same is working fine in GUI screen and also the various ALV features such as Download to Local File, Print Preview and others are working very well.
But if I deploy the same report on EP. The report is executing just fine but all the ALV features such as download to excel file and all other features are not working as desired.
I have done some reasearch on this issue and everytime people talk about having the updated Java version and to run this features on IE 7 or below. We have tried all these but still no luck.
Request you to provide your valuable inputs which can help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks much!
    Regards,
    Sumanth

    Hi,
I guess this is due to the gui statements like call screen for popup to download which will not work in browser, instead of using FM for ALV or CL_GUI_ALV_GRID class, try using CL_SALV CLasses or create ALV in Web dynpro and integrate it in portal which will work well.
    Hope this helps u.,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran.

  • User is not able to download specific excel file in sharepoint

    Hi,
    Could you please help?
    thanks
    srabon

    Hi Srabon,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot download the excel file from SharePoint.
I recommend to check if the Download a Copy buttons can be used in the Excel web app and in the ribbon of the library.
If both the two buttons cannot work, I recommend to check the permission of the user on the excel file and check if the Information Rights Management is enabled in the library.
When Information Rights Management is enabled in the library and the user has only read permission on the document, then the file cannot be downloaded.

  • HT2488 How do I create a workflow in Automator or a script in AppleScripts to download an excel file from a specific webpage?

I would like to create a workflow in Automator or a script in AppleScript (or a combination of the two), that opens Safari to a specified page and downloads an excel file from this page and saves the downloaded document to my desktop.
Is this something that be done? If so, how?
I have so far been able to build a workflow in Automator to open Safari and added an AppleScript that takes Safari to a specific page that has an Excel document.
I can't figure out where to go from here... Any help would be apprecitated.
    Thanks!

Would you have the web address the excel sheet is on?
Is there a simular web page you could point to if not?
Would there be a copy of the file on an FTP page.  This would be easier.
    curl
    http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/mac-os-x-terminal-download-file/
    http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2012/04/curl-examples/
    http://curl.haxx.se/docs/manpage.html
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    # Press return to run a command.
the curl is a terminal command ( Unix ).  It allows you to read a file off of the web.
    man curl
provides cryptic information on the commnad curl.
press the space bar to advance  a page.
press letter to q to quit.
What you may have to is to read in the web page as a text file.  Go "fishing" through the page to find the excel file you need.  Once you find the file, you can use curl to read the file.
curl is a very full featured command.  (read complex to figure out ).
It is easier to diagnose problems with debug information. I suggest adding log statements to your script to see what is going on.  Here is an example.
        Author: rccharles
For testing, run in the Script Editor.
          1) Click on the Event Log tab to see the output from the log statement
          2) Click on Run
        For running shell commands see:
        http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2002/tn2065.html
    on run
-- Write a message into the event log.
        log "  --- Starting on " & ((current date) as string) & " --- "
        --  debug lines
set desktopPath to (path to desktop) as string
        log "desktopPath = " & desktopPath
set unixDesktopPath to POSIX path of desktopPath
        log "unixDesktopPath = " & unixDesktopPath
set quotedUnixDesktopPath to quoted form of unixDesktopPath
log "quoted form is " & quotedUnixDesktopPath
        try
set fromUnix to do shell script "ls -l  " & quotedUnixDesktopPath
            display dialog "ls -l of " & quotedUnixDesktopPath & return & fromUnix
        on error errMsg
log "ls -l error..." & errMsg
        end try
    end run

  • WAD reports: download to excel

    Hi,
When you download your report data to excel, is there some kind of option available so that the user cannot change the data inside the excel? Or some kind of thing in the document that states that this data is original/changed. Does such a mechanism exist that can say that the data is original when you download it via the web report?
    Thanks in advance!
    Tom

as u said u r downloading the data to excel from wad
now the output is stored  in excel and if user changes this data then this change will reflect at local pc of ur user
wat i meant to say is
lets say ur query is runing thru webtemplate ww
now ur user x download the query execution thru excel to his pc xx
now if user changes this excel it will only happen at his pc xx
now if user forwards this changed excel then and only then this change spreads
otherwise watever the query execution is going to be it will remain same at all pc's
in short user can change excel at their respective pc's
if it is assigned to u to send the downloaded excel from wad to different user communities
then after downloading u can secure the excel document
u can download say result aa on day 1
after downloading use Tools in tabs and then select Options and then in dialog box u can select Security and set the password to open the document, to change the document etc.
u can set password to edit the document
this way ur forwarded excel will not get changed
or if ur doubt is if user change data in excel dowloaded from wad , does it change data at infoprovider then the answer is NO.
the data at infoprovider will not be changed.

  • Download to excel issue.

    Hi All,
When I download a report to excel, one of my percent field with one decimal place, is increased to two decimal places in excel.
does anyone of a work around or a fix to this issue?
    Thanks

Checking the Oracle bug database there are the following bugs/enhancements logged that sounds relevant and some workarounds we can try:
Bug 865450 DOWNLOAD TO EXCEL ALWAYS OPENS AS HTML FILE
Bug 5592823 EXCEL DOWNLOAD TREATED AS HTML FILE BY MOZILLA FIREFOX 1.5
Enh 6906146 DOWNLOAD TO EXCEL 2000 OUTPUT SHOULD BE EXCEL FORMAT NOT HTML
    Workarounds:
    (1) If your server is Tomcat
    (From bug log...)
The real issue is IE fails to to detect the file type correctly in some cases
in absence of proper MIME headers from the Tomcat servers especially on
    Linux.
    The fix is to
Add a mime-mapping in tomcat/conf/web.xml. Under the section
    Default MIME Type Mappings
Restart tomcat and delete temporary internet files from IE
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>xls</extension>
    <mime-type>application/octet-stream</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    (2) Switch browser to Firefox instead of IE. This sounds drastic but reading the bug logs it appears that Firefox will ask you what to use to open the file the first time it is used via Download to Excel - and at this point you can choose Excel and ask it to remember that decision.
Let me know if any of this useful. If not I'll drill further and see if I can dig up a better workaround.
