DST Issues - clock jumped two hours forward

Device: Motorola Moto X
Android Ver: 4.4.4 (latest for my model)
I've never had DST issues on any of my phones before, but this weekend, when DST rolled around at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, my phone actually jumped two hours forward instead of just one. I restarted several times since then, to no avail. I've check my clock settings, and everything is correct. I'm in CST time zone. I've got no home times set, or any cities set. My time should be pulling directly from Verizon.
I honestly am not sure what else I can try other than a factory reset, which I'd like to avoid. Any suggestions? I'm very tech savvy, but I'm honestly lost on this one.
Thanks,

    Zac_91,
I am sorry to hear of the issues you are having with the time on your phone. We want to make sure this gets corrected. Thank you for everything you have done thus far. When going to Settings>Date and time is Automatic date & time selected along with Automatic time zone? If so, please uncheck both options and then recheck and power cycle the device. Let us know if the issue persists.

This is a concern amoung many corporate users.  It's going to take somekind of policy change with apple.

  • The "sign in" button does not appear and my library, account, etc. don't launch automatically upon launch. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide. (After two hours of trying to find a way to contact Apple on this issue, I gave up.)

Hi. I am really frustrated with Apple support. After two hours of trying to navigate their support site, I finally gave up. I really hope someone here will be kind enough to help me find a solution to my problem.
My iTunes always launched with my account, my library, etc. present. Now it launches in a generic form with none of my information present. It also has no "sign in" area so I can get to my data. I'm not sure what happened, can anyone help?
Thanks so much for any assistance you can offer.
    Joe

I've not noticed this but haven't looked for it either - I suspect you are seeing 'normal' behaviour for AppleTV 2/3 - in other words it's ignoring the iTunes flags.
With AppleTV 1 I used to set playback start/end times using Get Info in iTunes for certain self-indulgent music videos I'd bought which had several minutes of 'acting dialogue' you'd only endure once - this allowedme to shuffle music videos with only the song part of the video being played not all the waffle before the song started.  AppleTV 2 and 3 ignore this setting.
Also, with AppleTV1 if you unticked the check box next to stuff you never wanted to stream AppleTV would behave as expected and not display it at all - useful for preventing non-family friendly material from streaming in the first place or  excluding seasonal material and do forth.  AppleTV 2/3 completely ignore the checkboxes on iTunes ans stream everything though you can of course enable parental controls.
Hard to know if it's the AppleTV's ignoring the info or iTunes not sending it to them in the first place.
Either way send feedback to Apple here:
Apple - Apple TV - Feedback
They won't answer but it may get put on a 'to do' list if enough users complain.
I'm still waiting for AppleTV 2/3 to handle iTunes LP and iTunes Extras!

  • Need Help : DST issue

    Hello,
I am working on a DST issue. In my application , I have a timze zone , CDT and CST GMT -6, where DST is supposed to end on 1nd of nov Sun 2009. As the DST ends , the clocks are moved back to 1 hrs . Means when there will be 2am in the clock, the clock will be reversed back 1 hr and all clocks are adjusted to 1am. i.e. 1 hr more.
Now in my application , I am putting an entry in the database at 1.01am of 1.12 am 1nov sun 2009. Entry goes well in the data base as user selected. Now at the time specified by customer , i.e. 1.12 am an trigger should pick the entry from db. The trigger would be caused by a poller continuously polling db after 2 mins each for any new entry, matches the current time and db time entered by user , If the diff is less than 120 sec , then only the trigger will be successful and user will be notified for the further process. For above entries Ideally the tigger should successfully be caused at 1.10am , but the trigger is executing right after 1 hr . This is causing b'coz the DST ends at 2am and clocks are reset back to 1 am .
How can I identify the timezone of the time entered in db, from which I can get the DST offset and send the call to customer appropriately.
Can any one please tell me how can I handle this situation. How can I make customer and my system in time sync independent of DST. ?
    Plz reply
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    here a small test:
    SimpleDateFormat fmt = new SimpleDateFormat("dd MM yyyy HH:mm:ss z");
    String date1 = "01 11 2009 01:41:15 CDT";
    String date2 = "01 11 2009 01:41:15 CST";
    ParsePosition pos = new ParsePosition(0);
    Date d1 = fmt.parse(date1, pos );
    pos = new ParsePosition(0);
Date d2 = fmt.parse(date2, pos );If I parse a string as shown above including the timezone specifier CDT or CST, then the parsed dates d1 and d2 differ by one hour. If you omit the specifier, then the parser cannot tell whether you mean CDT or CST, so just one of them is assumed. So the trick is just: Don't forget to include the timezone specifier in the parsed string, and then you will have the corerct result in the parsed dates. If you don't give that information to the SimpleDateFormatter you cannot expect, that the parser will know what to do.

  • History wont update unless i set my system clock ahead 3 hours

I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but nothing i do works. The history will only start working if i set my clock ahead 3 hours. Any way to fix that besides setting myself to a different time zone that's 3 hours behind me.

    Hi brotheryang17,
I asked qa and there are some more steps to take to make sure that it is not an add on affecting the functionality of bookmarks. The two suspicious one are Ad Block or Ghostery, however it could be a combination as well.
To run an experiment we can try two things: disabling each of the add ons one at a time to make sure that it is not an add on, or can try to create a new profile temporarily and add a bookmark with the time normally set.

  • Why am I now waiting in queue over an hour...no...two hours for support chat?

Since this last CC desktop client update, CC decided it needed to sync all 7k+ of my files in my CC folder, crashing once in process, and creating a multitude of Acrobat Distiller errors, much as it has been doing for more than the past year. I figured I'd try to ask support chat about this. I'd also like to inquire as to whether I can expect my CC folder location to be moved from my data drive back to my system SSD on my desktop, as happened with the last CC desktop update, and if there is any way to avoid this from happening.
That was about an hour and 30 minutes ago. As I was waiting I rediscovered this thread: Adobe Support Availability Questions and Feedback . Funny, as it outlines issues with chat support and offers suggestions that could greatly lower queue times during off hours, as I'm currently experiencing, but it received zero replies. I also received zero replies in these forums to a thread I bumped asking why the Adobe Shape app is sometimes not uploading to CC and what to do when that happens. It seems at least two other people have run into the same issue. That thread was started two months ago and has so far received zero response: Adobe shape only partially uploading to the cloud I didn't start this thread, just had the same issue as the originator.
Coming up on an hour and 40 minutes now, and if I get through, I'll probably be told they cannot offer any support for troubleshooting the CC desktop app. Ironic that, seeing as I first reported very similar issues back in December of 2013, dealt with it for months, even installing logging versions of the CC software, and some issues still remain unresolved.
Yes, I'm whining. I am paying $50/month for CC, and I'm reaching the point where I'm believing support is largely non-functional. I dread contacting support at this point, whether phone or chat. It is a large time and attention sink, that much more often than not, does not seem to solve the issue(s), many times for days, weeks, months, sometimes even years. I used to have much more hope for these forums, but as of late, my last two questions, as detailed above, received no responses in over a month.
Beginning to approach 2 hours in the chat queue. Need to get to bed. It is really frustrating that Adobe seems to be developing the support strategy of a monopoly, "Why bother, who else are they going to move to?". This seems to me to be the case, growing the number of clients, and not bothering to grow support at the same rate. How else does one explain a chat queue that used used to take 30 minutes, a month ago it took an hour, and tonight is taking two hours with no response, or that my questions on these forums used to receive an almost immediate response here, and now they languish with no replies, even when they are not whining, but legitimate technical questions, and yes, the legitimate technical questions came before the whining. Time to de-queue, after waiting for two hours, and go to bed.

Once you do get things working... Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • IPhone calendar sync two hours off from iCal - Can I fix?

I purchased an iPhone 3G today, this is my second one. Since my last phone, I now have a new MacBook Pro with iCal.
When I performed the Sync today, everything was fine except for the times in Calendar, which were two hours later on iPhone. The time zones were the problem, as the iPhone was set to Cupertino (Pacific) and the computer was set to Memphis (correct zone).
Now, I have corrected the time zones on both and I have performed a new Sync and checked the box to replace information from the calendars on the iPhone with the information from iCal.
However, the times are still off.
    1. Can I fix this issue?
    2. Can I delete the iPhone calendar entries as a whole and start over and re-Sync?
Thanks for the help. It's a minor issue, but it's pretty annoying and I have tried everything I know to fix it.

How bizarre. Mine is doing this too, except it's 3 hours off. I showed up to work 3 hours early because of this. Time zones are the same on my computer and my phone. I'm not sure what the deal is.

  • Session in status active started two hours ago is not in v$session_longops

I have a session with status active. This session starts two hours ago.
but if I query the v$session_longops to see how long I have to wait for that session I don't see it.
    And if I execute:
    execute dbms_system.SET_SQL_TRACE_IN_SESSION(429,15706,true);
    to trace the session
oracle doesn't generate the trace file.
    Does someone know why?

But since the OP stated the status = ACTIVE then there should be an active query. This is where the full Oracle version is important. Depending on the version if the active code is pl/sql then the pl/sql will not show when you check the v$session.sql_address and there have been issues with v$session_longops also.
But just because a session has been connected for hours does not mean the SQL it is currently executing has been running for more than seconds. If the process includes commits then it may be nothing more than a long series of very short transactions and hence not long operations.
Also the following two conditions must be true >>
Set the TIMED_STATISTICS or SQL_TRACE parameter to true
Gather statistics for your objects with the ANALYZE statement or the DBMS_STATS package << Oracle 9.2 Reference on v$session_longops

  • HELP! iMac is FROZEN for past two hours.

imac is frozen for past two hours. I was doing a reinstall of the OS because mail searches were not working. I'm afraid of shutting off and restarting for fears of losing my hard drive which I understood would be ok except for a fresh install of system.
    WHat can I do?

If I'm recalling correctly, to disable extensions, boot up while holding down the shift key. You'll then be able to open the extensions manager to revert the set-up. After getting that airport issue resolved, then, due to the hard shutdowns, don't forget to run an os 9 disk utility to repair the hard drive prior to downloading any update.
You'll probably want to post additional questions to the OS 9 boards, here:

  • Events moved one hour forward in the Iphone calendar

    Hi,
    I have Iphone 3gs, 3.1.3.
    Windows 7 and Office 2007.
In both of them I have marked the V on change the clock automatecly
The time in the Iphone and my PC are the same time.
I think that since I moved the clock I have this problem.
    1. All the events in the Iphone calendar moved one hour forward.
For example event that starts at 9 in the outlook will start at 10 at the Iphone.
    2. All the events for full day in the iphone are one day backward.
For example event that is in all munday in the outlook, is in all sunday.
I tried to delete the event are sync.
I tried to force rewrite all the calendar information in the next sync
I tried to unmark the V in the automatecly clock change.
    Can someone helps me?
    Thanks
    Elad

Under the setting app in on the iPhone, go to the mail, contacts and calendar heading. At the very bottom of the calendar settings, do you have time zone support turned on?

  • ICloud DST Issues With Outlook

When I sync my Outlook Calendar into my iCloud Calendar all recurring events that existed before DST are off by 1 hour in iCloud but correct in Outlook. Any ideas?
So for example I have a recurring event for a daily meeting. This meeting was created in August.
The meeting takes place daily @ 9:30 AM.
Right after the time switch over the weekend (Nov 3) the meeting is now showing up at 8:30 AM instead of 9:30 AM in my iCloud calendar but it is displayed corectly @ 9:30 AM in Outlook.
    Any ideas?

    ok...
From experience, I can tell you the two calendars are both default calendars with iCloud. 'Work in Cloud' probably doesn't contain any of previous inputs because your iphone probably defaults to your regular calendar.
For me, I was able to get a good understanding by looking at the icloud calendar at icloud.com and the outlook calendar side by side. I recommend doing so, and playing around with things so you can figure out how they work.
With Outlook, you are going to have locally stored stuff (like Contacts), and your cloud-stored stuff (like Contacts in Cloud). That is why you are seeing two different sets of data. It looks like you dont have any locally stored contact, which is fine. All of your contacts are in iCloud (or...Contacts in Cloud), which should correlate to your iphone. again, it might be best to just pull up icloud.com, and put it side by side with outlook. it helped me get a good understanding of how it works.

  • DST Issues - Brazil

    Gentlemen,
I am having an issue with my Blackberry Storm 2 (Blackberry 9520).
I am running the latest OS version for this model (version 5).
Nevertheless, my Blackberry is synchronizing (with Gmail) all of my appointments which occur in the week starting February 18th as if they were 1 hour off.
In 2011, we had DST in Brasilia (-3 hours) that ended on February 18th. Nevertheless, in 2012 DST is scheduled to end one week later, on the 26th.
This error is occurring even though I have the net_rim_bb_timezoneupdater module version 1.0.0.228 installed.
Please help me with this issue if possible!
    Thank you,
    Leonardo

btw the latest timezone CFC uses java epoch offsets instead

  • Firefox crashes on opening with no message just the egg timer, which is still there after two hours!

Whenever I open Firefox, which has seven retained tabs, it won't load the tabs - it just displays an egg timer on all seven. I have left it for two hours, and still get the egg timer on all seven pages. I am not at all computer literate, so I thought the best option would be to uninstall and re-install Firefox, however I need to save my bookmarks. I know they are automatically backed up, but I fear that when I uninstall Firefox I will lose the backup filws. Can you please tell me how to either solve the problem without uninstalling firefox or tell me how to safeguard and retrieve my bookmarks after uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. I would add that this only started happening following a recent (few days ago) Firefox update.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== About a week ago, following a Firefox update.

See this article for backing up your information:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information
If you backup your profile, you can try uninstalling Firefox completely and installing it again. That will create a fresh new profile, but, of course, will erase your own (hence the need to back it up). If you do this, see if the new profile on the fresh install has the same problem. If it doesn't, porting your things from your old profile should be relatively simple.
Also, while I'm sorry you've been without a browser for so long, all I can do is help you the best I can and know, and say that, if I were in your situation, I'd be using another browser while this issue wasn't sorted out.

    Hi,
We have implemented a Sinlge Sign On solution based on Kerberos and the Java GSS-API. The implementation pretty much follows the
examples given in the JAAS Tutorials. It is now running
in my company and it works fine except until there are less than two hours until your TGT expires. Then an exception is thrown

... 13 moreI've also used the Klist (Microsoft) tool to get information about the tickets and the information about the TGT looks like this:
    Cached TGT:
    ServiceName: krbtgt
    TargetName: krbtgt
    FullServiceName: pwl
    DomainName: MACONOMY.COM
    TargetDomainName: MACONOMY.COM
    AltTargetDomainName: MACONOMY.COM
    TicketFlags: 0x40e00000
    KeyExpirationTime: 1/1/1601 2:00:00
    StartTime: 10/24/2006 5:48:52
    EndTime: 10/24/2006 15:48:52
    RenewUntil: 10/31/2006 5:48:52
TimeSkew: 1/1/1601 2:00:00          Now we also have a C implemtation we use for our native Windows client, which uses the Microsoft version of GSS (SSPI),
and it works fine, so the problem must be connected to the Java implementation. I've used Ethereal to find out what happens
when login fails and I can see that two requests are send to the KDC and that the last one is a request for the renewal of the TGT.
The replies from the KDC looks fine and doesn't contain any error messages.
If anyone has an idea as to what is causing this problem I would be very grateful. I should mention that the KDC is Active Directory
running on a Windows 2003 server, and that we use JRE version 1.5_08. We haven't changed the default parameters in AD, so the default life time for a TGT is 10 hours.

    Hi again,
In connection with changing from daylight saving time I found out some more about this problem.
It seems like the Java interpretation of the TGT expiration time is dependent on the time zone of the client computer.
I set up my Active Directory to have a service ticket lifetime of 4 hours and then tried to change the
time zone on my client computer with the following results:
    GMT+01:00

As you can see the exiration time found by the Java application is highly dependent on the time zone.
I should add that if you are at GMT the Java expiration time matches the one from klist.exe.
So clearly there is a problem somewhere.
The question is whether it is something in my setup or it is a bug in either Active Directory or Java. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
