DVD burner manufacturer and model number/disc compatibility

does anyone have experience with what brand dvd-r's work with this burner. i went through a tough time on my windows machine finding the correct type with my sony dru-500a and wanted to see what experiences you all have had. thanks

I would say that almost any brand should be fine BUT my experience has been that almost any brand other than Verbatim has at some stage or another just not been good enough.

  • MBP 15.4" Display manufacturer and model number

Does anyone happen to know what the manufacturer and model number happen to be for the LCD modules in the 15.4" MacBook Pro might be? Perhaps a curious Apple Certified Technician has taken a peak during a repair...
    MacBook Pro 15.4"

Ok, here's an update: The Samsung module is the LN154X7. Found a picture of the sticker on the back of a module. Chi Mei has one module listed on their website that seems to match, because of size, resolution, color support and viewing angles: N154C1. Can anyone verify that this is the counterpart to the Samsung?

  • HT3939 i am trying to find the make/manufacture number on my phone and model number.

i am trying to find my device manufacture/make on the back of the box and model number, can someone please help

Well, it sounds as if the manufacturer is Apple. The model number is printed on the back of the box on the label with all the barcodes. It's also in Settings>General>About

  • Systems Machine and Model Number. Any permanent solution ?

Like many purchasers of refurbished ThinkPads, I find my Machine (2007) and Model (WUK) was not registered into the Systems Board by the technician during refurbishment. The result is that ThinkVantage Tool " Update and Drivers" cannot recognize this ThinkPad, therefore no updates resulting "Error 75".
Solving this issue by renaming the HKEY (TP-79__ which is incorrect) to "2007WUK", but this is only temporary, it reverts back to TP-79__ after reboot which basically defeats Schedule Updates. To be able to input the Machine and Model Number into the Systems Board, it is necessary to use System Machine Maintenance Disc which is not readily available to us Users, Software download was also withdrawn from Lenovo Site.
It is inconvenient to edit the Registry every time in order to check updates, therefore I feel Lenovo is denying us full accessibility to the product they are selling.
Question:- Is there a solution to fix this issue to permanently register the machine and model number into the system without sending the product back to Maintenance/Repairs ?
Or is this a necessity due to company procedure for extra revenue ?

Lenovo doesn’t release a whole lot of updates, especially for the older models. So you might be able to just bypass the limitation by bookmarking the downloads and drivers page for your specific machine, and checking back for new updates once a month or so.
Definitely not a ‘true’ solution, but it’s one way to ensure that you’re getting the updates you need without having to dig deeper into the system.

  • Please recommend best DVD burning program and external burner

My FCPX "Share" will no longer burn a DVD on my MacPro 1,1 via the "DVD" destination. However I can send it to "Master File" and it will make a high quality .mov file. I've then tested using Roxio Toast on a 2 minute .mov clip and it did burn a DVD, but the quality was very, very poor. (Much worse than the DVD that I used to be able to get via FCPX Share).
Your thoughts on: 1) Why does FCPX --> Share --> DVD no longer work/ how to fix it?  and 2) Can you recommend the best DVD burning program and external burner? With thanks! Duncan

Toast should give you the highest possible quality so you are obviously doing something wrong.
The only thing I don't like about Toast are the menus  .  .  .  which are total rubbish compared with iDVD.
You should also be able to burn DVDs from FCP X so once again you are either doing something wrong or there is a problem with your FCP X setup or computer.
Try trashing the preferences  using this free app.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
    1. Ensure that  FCP X  is selected.
    2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones  .  .  .  instantly.

  • 160 GB stock drive...can anyone report make and model number?

Although there may be more than one supplier to Apple of the 160 GB drive which is offered as a downgrade option, can anyone report back the make and model number of what they have received?
    Thank you,
    John

  • Burning 80mm and business card discs. And DVD-R DL Drives

Two questions, does DVDSP 4 support and Mac G5 burn the small discs? I guess it is 80mm size and business card discs. Also, is there a DVD-R DL external drive out yet? I have had trouble playing back the smaller discs in certain players.

I believe that DVDSP4 has a setting in the Inspector for the disc in general (e.g., where you'd type the name of the disc). There should be an option for 12cm and 8cm. This probably just adjusts the capacity meter at the top, though.
The PowerMac's tray loading DVD drive should have no problem burning or reading the 8cm discs. There's actually a space on the tray for these discs.
Do not try to use the 8cm discs in a slot-loading drive, like those of the PowerBook/iBook or the iMac. The disc will go in, but won't come out without disassembling the drive.
The Pioneer DVR-110D is a DVD-R DL burner. I don't know that this format is supported by Apple's frameworks (DVD+R DL is), but Toast should be able to write these discs just fine. You could put one of these in an external case if you like. OWC has these drives in external FireWire cases. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/optical-drives/

  • Dvd burns choppy and pixelated!!! HELP!!!!

I'm working on a macbook pro using iLife09.
my dvd has 3 movies on it. total length of all is 116 minutes.
2 movies burned correct and on the other about half way through, the image becomes choppy and the pixels jump around. I've edited everything in FCE 4 and exported>quicktime movie. I've tried making it self contained and not self contained. Same results on both. I use verbatim dvd-R, burn at slowest possible speed, and at professional quality. I've repaired disk permissions, deleted idvd prefs, and saved as "disk image." the results are the same on the disk image. I think this means it is an encoding/burning problem. But what do I do to fix it.
All my audio has been converted to .aiff and is 44.1 KHz.

Sounds like you're very close to max on length, so that would be my first area of focus. What happens if you use the reference movie (not self-contained) and put the problem video in a project by itself to test if it's a length problem?
Jumping pixels can indicate a media problem, but you're avoiding that with good disks and, even better, by testing using a disk image.
Do you have adequate hard disk space for encoding and burning? Some say you need 20 gigs.
If you have access to a double layer burner, that's another option.

  • External DVD burner/iDVD and iMovie

Would iDVD work with this external dvd burner?

That would depend on the brand of dvd drive they are using inside there enclosure.
In my experience Pioneer drives always work well.
One would ask why you want to get a small external drive. full size tray loading drives are faster more robust and are much more efficient.
It doesn't have to be a small drive. I picked that particular drive because it was the only drive I could find with Apple listed under supported OS.
I put together my own external drive. I used a pioneer 112D 18x DVD-RW cost £16. I got an icybox dvd enclosure for £20. This enclosure has usb2 and firewire.
It is recognised in the apple system profiler as 'apple shipped'. And works with idvd and itunes and diskburning.
It looks like that copy is only in the UK. Perhaps there is a US version?
Or maybe I just need to find one that is USB supported and it will work on my Macbook? I have a feeling some will work. I just wont be able to use the software for them.

  • What does it mean when my dvd burner does not have a disc in and randomly turns on while surf net

My HP Pavillion desktop with a HP w2207h monitor started randomly playing dvd without a dvd in it. I was just surfing the internet and it turned on spinning with no dvd or cd in it. What does this mean?

The sound you heard could be your hard drive.  It makes a spinning sound like the dvd drive sometimes. Did you notice if the light on the dvd drive came on as well, if not then it was the hard drive making the noise.

  • What is the difference between model number FC769LL/A and model number  MC769LL/A? Both are iPad 2 16g models.

I Bought twomipads 2's and it seems they are supposed to have to same specs but it seems like the mc model is charging and running faster. I'm just curious why thenmedel number difference.

The first one is a refurbished product or special order. They're otherwise exactly the same.

  • Burning Events and pictures to disc

    I am new to Mac.
I downloaded all my pictures from my old PC.
    I organized them into Events.
I'd like to save them to disc as Events. They are now well organized.
How do I save them just like the Events has them?
    Thank you for the help.
    Mike

    PigJubby
If you want to simply archive your PICTURES, not the library or the way you have them organised?
Then select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export them to a folder on the desktop. Then use the Finder (file -> Burn) to burn them to the disk.
If you want to back up your LIBRARY - that is your Pics in the Events and Albums you have - then use the Share -> Burn command in iPhoto.

  • Incorrect manufacturer and model for connected devices.

I have several devices connected to my Linksys EA4500. Two of them are my Apple Mac Pro and my Logitech Squeezebox Radio. For some reason, in 'Device List', my Apple Mac Pro has the manufacturer 'Logitech' and the model 'Squeezebox Radio'. As for my Logitech Squeezebox Radio, it doesn't have a manufacturer nor a model. It appears that there is a mix up with these two devices. I have cross checked the IP addresses and MAC addresses displayed in Cisco Connect Cloud with those displayed on the devices and they match - so it's not a case of mixed up names. Could this be an issue with Cisco Connect Cloud?

Try to delete those devices from the device list and then add them again.

  • My ProBook Is Unable To Detect It's Serial and Model Number

As you can see in the picture, There are some dots instead of the product name. When I bought my PC I was able to find the model and product serial. My HP Support Assistant was also able to detect them automatically, but since some days I see these dots, I don't know why this happened. No auto detect app can now detect my PC model and Serial. Is there any way to fix it? My warranty period is over and the service center is far away from here, so if possible give me a solution that I myself can give a try! P.S. I Have A Good Idea About PCs, So Even If The Solutions Difficulty Level Is Advanced Please Do Share! Thanks In Advance

Yes, It's missing, and I guess the data is deleted from the whole system somehow
