Dynamic Date Variant for SAP Job

Hi Guru
We have a program to be ran in the Background .
I am unable to create a Variant for Date ( Current year Jan 01st to Current Date).
Could you please advice how to create a Variant with Dynamic Date Calculation for above date range.
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks
Ravi

Hi,
I guess that you know how manage dynamic dates in a variant. (Please, tell me if you need help about it)
You can try with two DATUM type fields in the ABAP program. Fix the first one with a fixed date u201901.01.2009u2019 and the second one will be fixed with the dynamic date u2018Current Dateu2019

• Dynamic date variant

Hi Gurus,
I've a dynamic system date variant for my program, which runs in background. I have no issue with variant, it works fine. But when I went to job log to check the old jobs that has dynamic date variant, it always refer to current system date. Anybody can suggest me how to fix it to show the actual variant at the time of job run?
Regards, Raju.

The dynamic date overwrites the value that it was saved with at the time of processing. What you see when you display it is the value at the time it was saved (the non-dynamic value). There is no way to see the value at the time it was run. At least not that I know.
You can however compute it if you know that the variant hasn't been changed since it was run.

• Date Variant for Shipment Cost document archiving

Hii
I want to archive the shipment cost document in my system for a particular date range.
When i go to the transaction SARA and put the object name as SD_ VFKK, it doesnt show me the date variant.
Whereas when i archive shipment(object: SD_VTTK), date variant is available.
Can anyone suggest any kind of setting which needs to be done in order to use the date variant for the object SD_VFKK
Thanks
Gaurav Manocha

Hi Gaurav,
Actually for Object SD_VFKK, when you to transaction code SARA and click on write variant, you dont have date option there. You can archive it only on the basis of Shipement Cost Document number.
If you will give me the details then I can see what you are actully looking for.

• How to setup Data guard for SAP database?

Can someone please tell me how to setup data guard for SAP databases?
Thanks,
Abhi

Hi Abhi,
have a look at OSS 105047 - Support for Oracle functions in the SAP environment you find this under
14
Oracle Data Guard
You can use "Physical Standby".
You cannot use "Logical Standby".
You are allowed to use Fast Start Failover (FSFO) but SAP Support is not provided.
You can use Data Guard Broker.
You can use Maximum Performance Mode, Maximum Availability Mode and Maximum Protection Mode.
In the case of Maximum Availability and Maximum Protection, you must pay particular attention to a fast network connection in order to avoid performance problems.
Maximum Protection causes the primary database to terminate if problems occur in the standby database.
And here you find on Oracle white paper from 2010 http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/sap/wp-ora4sap-dataguard11g-303811.pdf
Perhaps some SAP user have answers for you http://scn.sap.com/community/oracle/content?query=guard

• Regarding Variants for Background jobs

Hi Folks
Can you please let me know the procedure how we can create the variants for Background jobs.
Points are assured for correct answers.
Regards,
kumar

Hi Sree Ram,
Check this info.
If you have any selection screen parameters for your program you need to enter the values for those fields in runtime. So, if you schedule your program in background to execute then there is no one to do this job. Here comes the concept of Variant.
With variant you define what are the selection field values in the runtime. During runtime the program picks this values and runs the program.
When you execute your program which has selection fields, you enter the values and then you click on 'GO TO ' tab and 'SAVE AS VARIANT'.
When you schedule your program in background, give this variant also. Then it will run automatically.
Hope this resolves your query.

• Tricky dynamic date variant in ABAP query

Hello All,
In an abap query there is a date field in the selection screen with from & to values.
I am trying to create a dynamic variant that will fill the following data into those fields:
From date: will be left blank
To date: will show today's date - 90 days
For example, if today's date is 01/12/2006 the variant should fill the following data into the fields:
From date: <blank>
To date: 01/09/2006
I have tried all the methods I know with dynamic dates calculation in the variant definition but did not manage to create such variant.
Any help will be very appreciated and points would be rewarded generously !
Thank you very much,
Ronen

If the "from" date is meant to be left blank (beginning of time) and the "to" date is some date plus or minus number of days from today, you use the "current +/- days" dynamic date calculation format as was mentioned earlier. Likewise if the "from" date is some date plus or minus today's date, and the "to" date is infinity -- you only need the one Dynamic Date calculation.
To do this, first don't think about this as a date range, think of your Dynamic Date calculation as if this were a single parameter and not a select-option. You are really saying "my date is anything LT/LE this date" or "my date is anything GT/GE this date" -- not a range
In the Save Variant screen, find the desired date select-option and:
1. Choose in column "Selection Variable", a "D" (Dynamic date calculation)
2. Use F4 in the "Name of Variable" column
3. Find "Current date +/- ??? days" or "Current date +/- ??? work days" in the popup, as appropriate
4. For "I/E" (include/exclude) column select as appropriate
5. For "Option" column, choose "LE", "LT", "GE", "GT", "NE" as appropriate
6. After clicking green check mark, enter your plus or minus days (and factory calendar if using work days).
7. Finish saving your variant.
8. You may not see your changes in your variant until you back all the way out of the variant and then redisplay it. You'll see a greyed out date along with the symbol matching your choice (LT, LE, etc.)
Unfortunately if you don't have infinity on either end of the date you are limited to 999 days differences as far as I am aware. If that is the case you can populate TVARVC table with parameter or selection variables, maintain them with STVARV transaction by hand, or use an ABAP program in batch to regularly calculate the values. Then you can reference the TVARVC values in your variant instead of the Dynamic Date calculation.
If someone knows a way to bypass the use of TVARVC for date ranges that are more than 999 days apart please let me know. TVARVC works well but it is extra effort whereas Dynamic Date calculation would be much easier to maintain if the date range could be made larger than 999 days.

• Dynamic Date Calculation for Current Date - 1

I am trying to create a variant with a dynamic date calculation attribute.
I am following the instructions as they are posted to the web but I get an error message.
I want to get all data EQ to the current date -1
In the object for selection screen I enter a D for Selection Variable, for Name of Variable I enter an I to include specific values and the option EQ for current date +/- ??? days. Then I enter 1- for the number of days. I have tried to enter this many times and in many ways but it doesn't work. I keep getting this message "lower limit of interval is greater than upper limit"

Hi,
Welcome to SDN.
Selection-screen has four values -
SIGN
OPTION
LOW
HIGH
Pass your date value in the option low for the screen.
Sign you have already pass as I and option as EQ.
Regard,
Amit

• Dynamic date variant in selection screen

I have a selection option s_date in my program where I want to use the dyanmic variant with.
it is a date range and for the lower range, I would like to have a static value of 04/01/2010 and for the higher range I want to have last date of the prev month.
I see last date of the prev month in the drop down (F4) Dynamic table, but selecting that is overwriting the s-date-low instead of s_date-high. How can I use the dynamic variant for this ? Can i create my own custom drop downs for these dates?
S_DATE FROM (_04/01/2010_) TO (LAST DATE OF PREV MONTH)
Thanks in advance..

In variant you can specify dates dynamically.
When you save a variant, system ask you enter variant name and Meaning. On the same screen you can specify these dynamic values.
For the parameter/select-option where you want to specify dynamic value, press F4 on 'Selection Variable' column.
Choose type of variable as 'D' (Dynamic date calculation).
Press F4 on 'Name of Variable(Input only using F4) column and select 'Current date +/- ??? days' on next screen.
On input screen enter -1.
Repeat same for To Date' field.

• Variants for background jobs

You need to schedule and automate batch jobs in an organisation. There will be multiple variants and multiple steps within same batch jobs. The variants are date dependent and needs to change every day. You need to automatically change the variants every day and schedule the jobs. Also check for the failures in the jobs. Apart from that Once the jobs in one server example : R/3 server ends the jobs in BW servers should be triggered automatically. Explain all steps with proper T codes and also provide a dry run example. Also provide all the table used for the variants purpose.
Please help on this,thanks
Narendra

Hi Narendra,
The background jobs are scheduled depending on the requirement with specific variants which are both date specific and even specific sometimes. These variants are created for the programs or reports which are run in the background job ,These variants are stored in VARID table for client specific variants and
VARID_CI for client independent. For most of the times all these jobs are maintained in some job scheduling tools so that they automatically inform about job failures and processes can be automated. In our organisation we use UC4 for background job schedulign and it controls the process as you are looking for.
Please award points accordingly

Hi,
How can we configure Dynamic Data connection that we can save the profile of the connection to somewhere that we do not need to enter it everytime when we refresh the report?
thanks and regards
nora

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Its solved now. For anybody if interested you can set the dynamic email address either i) having it as part of payload - In this case use the xpath to query the payload varaible ii) use identity service - follow the following steps
1.Create a user in Application enterprise manager/also you can use a existing account, if u are creating a new one assign the correct role
2. In either case edit the user-properties.xml(bpel/system/services/config) file for the corresponding user and add an attribute called email
3. Bounce the server for this changes to take effect
4. In the notification properties in the to address use ids:getUserProperty and pass the attribute name

• Data pump for HR Jobs and HR positions for v11i

I am trying to use Datapump (v11i/11.5.2)
to load the data for HR Jobs and Hr Positions. I am loading HR_PUMP_BATCH_HEADER and HR_PUMP_BATCH_LINE TABLEs with records having required valid values but I am getting error. I have succefully loaded the employee data using same method before.
Have anybody done this ? PLase help.
null

I got the below from Metalink.
Pl. see whether it is helpful for you, since I have little knowledge about HRMS.
The HR_PUMP_BATCH_LINE_USER_KEYS table must be seeded with value in order for the package that follows to work. In some cases, the user must provide this value.
I ran into this problem when trying to run the create_job_requirement API through the Data Pump. Within my PL/SQL block, this is how I passed the value to my variable:
pv_id_flex_num_user_key := sel.sun_job_id| |sel.name| |sel.job_requirement_id| |sel.id_flex_num| |':ID FLEX NUM USER KEY';
I then performed the following after calling the insert_batch_line procedure and passing all the parameter values:
SELECT hpbl.batch_line_id,
coj_hr_ci.devl_seq_s.nextval,
coj_hr_ci.devl_seq_s.nextval
INTO v_batch_line_id,
v_sequence1,
v_sequence2
FROM hr_pump_batch_lines hpbl
WHERE hpbl.pval058 = pv_id_flex_num_user_key;
INSERT INTO hr_pump_batch_line_user_keys(batch_line_id,
unique_key_id,
user_key_id,
user_key_value)
VALUES(v_batch_line_id,
50141,
v_sequence2,
pv_id_flex_num_user_key);

• Dynamic date parameters for a scheduled report that runs every day

I have a report that has input parameters for a start date and
end date. The report will be scheduled to run once a day at a
scheduled time. I need the report to automatically set the start
date and end dates when the report runs at the scheduled time.
When the report runs at the scheduled time, the end date needs
to be set to that time and the start date needs to be set to 24
hrs before the end date. I want the start and end dates to roll
forward automatically when the scheduled report runs each day. I
don't want any user intervention to change the start and end
dates every day. How can I do this in a report ?
Also, since the report is scheduled to run each day, I want the
output to be saved to a unique file name each time the report is
run as each day's report will report on the data only for that
day. How can I get the report to save to a unique file name
automatically each day ? Again, I don't want any user
intervention where they would set the output file name manually.

Try adding the following in the beforereport or beforepform
trigger, before the RETURN clause (TRUNC gets rid of the time
component of the date):
:p_date_from := TRUNC(sysdate) - 1;
:p_date_to := TRUNC(sysdate);
:desname := 'REPORT'||TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY')||'.txt'
