Dynamic Filter in report omitted when characteristic not in output.

Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me with the following:
Since upgrading from 7.01 to 7.4, we encounter strange behaviour in a (WAD-) report.
When filtering a free (compounded-) characteristic by excluding certain members via the navigation panel, the filter only works when the characteristic in question is displayed in the output. When you drag it out of the presented layout, the excluded member is included again, as we see the keyfigures go up to the level when it had when it was included. The filter display however still shows the characteristic member as being excluded.
In 7.0, this phenomenon can not be reproduced.
I've searched the net and SAP notes, so far with no success.
Any ideas?

Yes, let me explain the reason because sales have to be database delegated.
In my case sales is not the sum of quantity of productos bought by a customer, sales is like a indicator that show me if customer bought or doesnt bought.
For example David is my customer and i sell 3 types of products: A, B and C.
Date 12.04.2011 David bought product A and B and 13.04.2011 David bought just product C.
In my report if i want to analyze sales by day and customer i have to have the following result:
*****Date 12.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales = 1
*****Date 13.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales = 1
In my report if i want to analyze sales by day and type of produc i have to have the following result:
*****Date 12.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales Product A= 1
            Sales Product B= 1
*****Date 13.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales Product C= 1
Can you see my point??
In date 12.04.2011 i cant do a sum if i am analyzing sales by customer because if i do a sum dave show me a sales of 2.
The only way that i found for this behavior is to use database delegated.
I will wait for your answer.

You can use navigational attributes to filter your report. When you switch on the navigational attributes at the cube level, the X table or Y table will be connected to the star schema of cube.
Navgational attributes behave like a characteristic in the report. You can create variables, filter etc on navgational attributes.

IR Dashboard report from new query not getting all Quick Filter selections

I inherited an IR Dashboard .bqy and my user recently added a new Query, Result, Table, and Report section to it. I cannot get the report to dynamically filter based on the date chosen in the existing Quick Filters section. It seems to be filtering the Location properly (drop down in Quick Filters section), but not the date. Her result section refuses to show anything less than ALL dates from the query.
The other reports/pivots already on the dashboard work fine with all QuickFilters.
In my attempt to integrate her new report in to the dashboard I add a new hidden "dummy" pivot (based on the existing query btw, not the new query-could that be the issue? it's dummy though so i figured it was ok), reference this pivot in the Embedded Targets object I found by adding "Object~Pivot4|Type~9|Target~Casket Margin Summary" line,
went to Dashboard Studio and was able to Associate this report in to the right frame, etc.
In the script behind the QIQ date "Set Filters" button I saw this code for the existing "Result_Detail" section so I added a line for my new "Results_Merch Detail" section.

I tried it with and without an extra semi-colon at the end of my line. Is that the right way to tell it to apply it to more than 1 Result??
Worked with this for hours now and can't find whatever else is hidden which tells the QIQfIlter Date to refresh this NEW query/result when chosen.
I tried to make sure all Filter items exist in the new query's Request line, one was missing. i haven't gone back to Dash Studio since then and re-saved, does THAT matter? I saved the .BQY and re-processed, still no luck.
can anyone help? I'm desperate for suggestions.

This has been resolved. The main thing that kept it from working was I kept launching the Dashboard Studio after I was in Design mode so any time I got to the QIQ Filters setup screen it looked like cryptic code and there was nothing to alter or play with to try and force the filters to take effect, so I never changed anything.
This time I launched the Dashboard Studio while accidentally in regular mode, blessing in disguise. on Step 1 of the wizard I chose QIQ Filter Properties from the configuration drop down list which pops up the Local Filters setup window, now in place of code syntax there was english-like words & action items for me to play around with so I chose my new result set from the drop down list and highlighted all the limits and clicked "Set Filters". Presto, that did it.
Also I had to make sure all the columns referenced in the QIQ drop down lists and pick list was in my request line in the Query & Result section, repeat the above, and it's all working great now.

Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer, And when Installing network printers from the domain controller it reports it cannot connect to printer. I can ping all
network devices. I can connect to the internet.
On boot I get a netlogon 5719 error followed by service control manager errors 7023,7001 and a group policy error 1129.
Clients can connect to the remote application and RDP operates to connect to the server internally and externally.
The domain controller is another server 2008r2 box. I have scoured the internet but have not found any solutions that work yet.

After referring to your post, it can be identified that the issue which you are facing is mostly due to some network issue in your environment. Please recheck your network connection issue between computer and domain controller.
Can you able to ping with IP address and also with fully qualified name of a domain controller in the users' and computers' domain. If it fails states that name resolution issue with computer and domain controller. Are you using MS DHCP Relay agent then there’s
available Hotfix for the particular Event ID. Please go through this KB 2459530 to fix the error event ID.
As per the net logon error 5719 which you are facing states that the client component of Netlogon was unable to locate a DC for the domain it was trying to perform an operation against. Below is one of the reason. If this is being logged on a DC and the event
refers to the DC's own domain, something might be preventing the client component of Netlogon from starting a network session (to itself or to another DC in the domain). The following event 7001 & 7023 states start & stop operation service. Please
go through beneath article for more details.
1. Event ID 5719 is logged when you start a computer
2. Netlogon 5719 and the Disappearing Domain [Controller]
3. Event ID 1129 — Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy

If you can't reinstall Firefox yourself then you need to contact your IT department and ask them to check the Firefox installation.

PPS dynamic filter creation - not your normal thing but we need a solution, dont think Performance Point can handle it!

My challenge at the moment is that I need to create a dynamic filter. To explain this is a cascading filter but not your normal cascading filter,
ie, Year/Month/day etc.
Here we have a single Dimension, Organisation. It contains every level of a business,
Site,
Dept,
Company name,
Division
Holding
Strategic Area
From these as a default we have 4 built hierarchies with a different combination of the above.
Activity (Strategic Area, Dept)
Organisation (company Name, site, Dept)
Sites (Division, Site)
Holdings(Holding, Strategic Area, site, Dept)
At any given time we have have additional Hierarchies created within the Dimension, further adding to the hierarchy list.
We now have a challenge where we require our users to be able to in the first filter select the Hierarchy they want to use, ie, Holdings, Site, Organisation
or Activity. This should then cascade to the second filter and contain the relevant hierarchy and levels as a multi select filter. Of course this also needs to be connected to number of graphs, charts and scorecards on the page, dynamically.
I have gone around the houses to get this to work but not having any luck. Tried the variety of filters available, MDX, member selection, tabular,
SharePoint, and attempted to mix and match to get this to work. I cannot find a way but I don't believe this is not possible.
If it is not possible we must look around for another front end solution for our BI Dashboards which I would prefer to avoid. Any response or suggestion
would be much appreciated.

When Adding Report to Dashboard will not return

Version: 10.1.3.4.0
When I run a report from answers all is fine, I can view "all pages" no with no issues. When I take the same report and add it to a dashboard, then run the report and view the first page 25 records results are fine. If I try to view "all pages" with the icon at the bottom of the page the report will not return and will stay in a state of "Transferring data from <BI Server Name>"i explorer process just grow in memory size and utilizes about 1GB in memory, but nothing returns.
When I run the report from answers I get all the records returned in about 10 minutes time. The number of records returned is 28,000. There are 50 columns in the report.
When I run the query from an SQL tool the response time is less than 20 seconds.

I suppose the BI server hangs due to lot of records coming up when tried to see with the last page button .We need to handle how many records should be displayed in answers itself.But all is well with your answers screen.Can you look at it by going page by page so is it fetching or not?
Check what is the SQL generated by BI server when you click last page button

Dynamic Filter Display in Report Designer

Hi All,
We have implemented a new BI reporting tool and are using Report Designer for the output format. The problem is that we cannot see any dynamic filters or navigational level when printing as RD takes it back to the original format. To overcome this issue, we have given the same query with the variable selection so that RD always prints the variable selection but this has reduced performance.
Anyone with ideas to overcome this situation or any workarounds will be appreciated.

But this is regarding Report Designer where i create appliction which is based on the WAD or Bex Query . Do we have any setting in Report designer where we can check the selection input which user has given while execution of the report.

Dynamic Filter not being refreshed

I have a problem with a dynamic filter refreshing properly.
In a 7.0 Bex Query, I have a variable where I put in a Sales Rep. Based on the Sales Rep entered ('Z_M1Y_SALESREP04' ), I have a user exit that reads that Sales Rep and goes and gets all their customers:
IF i_step = 2.
READ TABLE i_t_var_range
WITH KEY vnam = 'Z_M1Y_SALESREP04' INTO ls_var.
When I run this for the first time, lets say Sales Rep A, it goes out and gets all the correct customers (shown in the Dynamic Filters of the Information tab). Now, if I change Sales Rep A to Sales Rep B, I am still getting Sales Rep A's customers. Does anyone know why it still shows Sales Rep A's customers?

If your using BEx Web for executing this query, try deleting the cache on your browser before re-executing the query with the new Sales Rep. The other thing you may want to consider is adding the following code prior to the READ TABLE statement:
CLEAR: ls_var.
This will ensure that the variable being read into won't have any values in it before it's being populated.

It's a simple fix and doesn't involve reinstalling anything.
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libxml2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
4. Paste file "libxml2.dll" to the location.
5. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.

Reset interact report settings when deleting a filter

If I filter an interactive report and still have many values.. I click show all rows..
I have 100 or so rows on the page.. then if I delete the filter. the report and my browser lock up while the entire database table is pulled, couple minutes..
is there a way to have the all rows reset back to the default number per page when the filter is removed..

You could try delete the cache in recovery. That fixes a multitude of problems.

Dynamic Assignemnt of OFF when employee not at work

I have a scenerio wherein based on the clock-in the Daily work schedule is to be assigned. This is being done through assign daily work schedule dynamically.
My requirement is when the employee's are not at work, the system should dynamically assign OFF if there is no clock-in.
How can this be done. The PCR TD30 for assign DWS dynamically is only to generate messages.
Moreover how can I change the PSP table.

Dynamic filter in Design studio using drop-down when data source is Universe

Hi community,
Is there anyway to create Cascading filter in Design studio when data source is Universe using drop-down component (Dimension filters cannot be used in my requirement).
My requirement is,
I have 2 drop-downs:
drop-down 1 : shows the regions in a country.
drop-down 2 : should display states based the region selected in the first drop-down (drop-down 1). Also drop-down 2 should pass selected state as input to the data-source

How to filter a report by a predefined but reduceable list of words?

I am trying to filter a report by several different input values.
I want to be able to search by date, site, multiple regions (DEV_KEYS), multiple alarm types (ALM_TEXT) and omit entries containing a predefined, but reduceable, list of words (the E#s).
I want the E# variables to be a list with default values (eg. Alarm, Hi, Lo, Standby) but I want to be able to filter by any combination of these. I was thinking of using checkboxes so that I can tick or untick the words to filter depending on what search I'm doing, but I am unsure how to use them like this. At this point I have them in a textbox each and the search will omit the entires when the text is there - what I want. If I delete the word and click Go the search brings back no results. However if I enter some obscure string (eg i5wqii) the word that I replaced will no longer be omitted - what I want. I don't want the user to have to enter something random into a text box to not search for a word.

+ Alarm
+ Hi
+ Lo
+ Standby
eg filter by Hi 'only'
- Alarm
+ Hi
- Lo
- Standby
Is it possible to do what I am trying to do? Any help appreciated.

figured out a way to do it. Put each of Alarm, Hi, Lo and Standby in their own select list with the other option as '-----' with output value as some string that will never appear in the field.
If anyone knows how to do it with checkboxes though i'm all ears.

Dynamic filter on last 13 months ?

i've read some threads about this but not sure they can fit my requirments
BO XI 3.1 SP2 FP 2.6 on SAP BW 7.01 SP5
my requirements:
-having an dynamic filter (condition) on my fiscal periods which filter on the last 13 full loaded monthes depending on the day we are (refreshing date)
- this filter must be optional (does not concern all reports built on the universe)
- no prompt : if i have a prompt , the report cannot be scheduled or can be schedule but prompt must be updated each month => no way
- if i use a Sap customer exit declared as an optional variable (for my requirement N°2), the variable gives the 13 fiscal period interval as default values and transfer default values to BO reports . We have seen that if we remove default values in BO prompt (optional prompt) default values stays in BEX queries and the report is filtered anyway...
I know how to do that when i built reports and universe on RDBMS database but in OLAP?
please advise

I am not sure if this would satisfy all your requirement- but the way to build dynamic filters against OLAP universe is to create predefined filters with the appropriate MDX expressions.
The regular syntax is
<FILTER EXPRESSION="IIF([Measures].[Quantity] = 2000, 1, 0)">
. You can check the OLAP universe best practices guide for more samples.
