E-mail sub-accounts

I followed all procedures in the tutorial to set up an e-mail sub-account for e-mail through MY ACCOUNT.  I then created a new identity in Outlook Express 6 for the sub-account, using the tutorial, step-by-step.
However, I cannot send e-mail from my new sub-account.  I can receive e-mail however.
Here's the error message.
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'my new sub-account e-mail address'. Subject 'test', Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Authentication Required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78
Any idea what is going on?

Did you set up the outgoing server settings for the new account in Outlook.Just in case you missed these.
Check Box 'My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication
Select- Use Same Setting as my incoming mail server

    Hi.
Can you pop back and edit the initial post in this thread to remove the email address ?
I've just created one, and the info says :-
    "Congratulations, your sub-account ..."
which is slightly different wording to yours.
The "more info" item also shows as blank on my Firefox screen, though the source is pretty much all javascript, so could well be browser specific, or just bad coding.
However my sub account was fine (actually created 2).
Have you tried emailing the sub account to see if you get any bounce message ? It could be that the login problem is due to the issue that some people have to login to their accounts. It may start working after a few more days.
Have you tried more than once to add the same email address, and getting the "congratulations" message each time ?

Our e-mail has been hacked. I recently changed my password but don't know how to change my spouse's sub-account password.

Your email account passwords are administered with your email provider. You have to work with them to change the account password. Most providers have a link to reset passwords on their email help page.

  • Bt Yahoo! Premium mail sub account can't use POP3

    Hi,
Hope there is someone who can help me out with this email problem - I've tried everything I can think of and am still stuck!
I have a btinternet.com premium mail account. The primary account works fine, no problems at all.
I have a sub-account that also used to work fine, but since 9th September 2011 won't pick up email via POP3. I can log into it via webmail, I can post from Mozilla Thunderbird using SMTP, but when I try and pick up the mail via POP I get the following error message:
Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded 'Access to this service is not permitted'.
So, bearing in mind that I'm using the same mail client, the same server settings, the correct password (because I know it works with Webmail), the same firewall settings as the primary account which still works fine, is it reasonable to conclude that this is a BT Yahoo! server issue?
And if so, does anyone have any idea how to get it resolved? I got transferred to the Premium Mail Help Dept, who wanted to be granted remote access to the box and hung up on me when I refused to allow them.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Have you tried altering the server to mail.btinternet.com (which is the proper one to use) or maybe pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Have a look at my shortcuts (link below), option 12b - logging in with the sub account. It will tell you the product ID.

I have just tried it and changed the password on one of my sub accounts.
You enter the sub account you wish to change
You answer the security questions for the main account holder
You can then change the sub address password. It does not change the primary account password.
Its done that way to prevent sub account holders changing their password without permission from the main account holder.

  • The transfer of BT e-mail sub-accounts

    Hi,
I am in need of some help.  I have tried looking online almost everywhere but instead of finding an answer I seem to have managed to find a lot of different answers
In short I am in need of moving or transfering an existing email sub account from one BT account to another.  The reason being that the old primary account is now dead (so time is running out) and I now have a new primary account (separate to the last) that I have already transferred the the primary email address from old to new.  I now need to transfer the 2 sub accounts llinked with this primary account from old to new also.  Is this possible?  is there an online facility to do this?
    All help is greatly appreciated.

  • How to reenable an e-mail sub-account?

    Respects all;
I have an e-mail sub-account that when I try to send to it returns a message it is "temporarily disabled"
I deleted the sub-account that had been phished, then found out I needed to get it back.  When I attempted to activate the same name, I got a message the name was not available... between the two messages, this indicates to me that the name is still in the Verizon system.  How can I reenable this account and access to the old e-mails?
    Thanks,  Grumppa

Once an account is deleted, there is no way to gain access to it again. I am sorry for the loss of access as well as the deletion of all the messages in the account. The disclaimer prior to deletion of a sub account states...
    Delete a Sub-Account
You are about to delete the following sub-account:
If you delete this account you won't be able to create another account with the same name. All files stored in personal Web Space, Verizon Online Backup & Sharing and the associated email account will be deleted.

  • How do you send an email from a sub account with mail app.

We have about four sub-accounts with .mac all tied in with our sign in name. Is it possible to compose an email from the other email addresses with the iphone.

you have to set it up with Mail on the home computer. I forget how many aliases you are allowed to have.
    To set up an alias:
Choose Mail > Preferences, and then click Accounts.
Select your MobileMe email account and click Account Information.
Click Edit Email Aliases, and sign in to MobileMe to create email aliases.

  • Mail - SMTP - Broken Sub-accounts.

    Hello All,
I have an email account with an ISP that provides a main account and a number of sub-accounts that I use for family members. All accounts are receiving their email via Mail but only the main account is being allowed to send outbound mail via the SMTP server.
All accounts are expected to log on the the SMTP server authenticated with the username and password of the main account holder in BASE64 and the MAIL FROM field set to that of the main account holder. This have been working without fail for years using Mail until recently.
I have since used telnet, as below, to confirm the above.
    HELO
    AUTH LOGIN
<main account email address in BASE64>
    <main account password in BASE64>
    MAIL FROM:<main account email address>
    RCPT TO:<[email protected]>

    from:<[email protected]>
    subject:Subject
    date: 26 March 2008

Can someone confirm that Mail has been changed in someway in a recent upgrade to cause the above.
    Thanks in advance.

None that I'm aware of and even if possible, this does not fix the problem.
Has your wife's email only account created as a .Mac type account ever downloaded messages from the server?
If not, any error message provided?
To confirm, if the Mail.app is not set to save sent messages on the server for your wife's email only account, are sent messages available in the account's Sent mailbox under Sent in the mailboxes drawer?
If not, I would try deleting and re-creating the account first.

  • Sub account e-mail problem.

Hi, I "came back" to BT infinity in December and all was working fine with my e-mails until now ?
One of my sub accounts has just stopped working and I am getting the error below.
I have checked and double checked the password and it is fine.
    Any ideas greatfully received.
    Kind regards......John
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'xxx', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I have a similar problem. I have discovered that logging in to webmail in some strange way removes the problem with the email client POP access. I stress that this happens without changing anything else.  Reading the last two entries in this thread suggests that bearhammer has had a similar experience without knowing it. In my case the problem returns every few days.
Please add to this thread if logging in to webmail temporarily fixes your problem also in order to build up a better case to get BT and Yahoo to  provide an explanation and solution.

  • Sub account e-mail: User name or password not reco...

The wife has just upgraded to an iPhone 5 and her e-mail has stopped working. I can access the sub-account from 'My BT' and have tried re-setting the password. I can create another sub-account and access that one fine from her phone but not the original sub-account. The error message I get is username or password not recognised. Any ideas?
I'm tempted to delete the sub-account and try the same account name from scratch but am worried in case I can't use that account name again. Would this happen?
    Thanks in advance

Don't delete the email address from your BT account. If you do I don't think you can reuse it.  Delete the email account from the Iphone and then try setting it up again by following this guide.
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35905/~/how-do-i-connect-an-iphone-or-ipod-touch-to-m...
If that does not help then carry out a factory restore of your Homehub by pressing a pin into the recessed button on the rear then try setting up the phone as above again.

  • MobileMe Family Pack- Setting up old sub-account in Mail

This past spring we had a MobileMe Family Pack with one email account unassigned. Before MobileMe closed, i created an email address for my son, so that when he was ready to have one he would. Now i am trying to set that up for him, and am having quite a difficult time. I'm not sure if i'm setting it up wrong, or if it's even possible to do, since the account was never actually utilized before we migrated to iCloud.
I logged into his name on our iMac and tried to use System Preferences>iCloud to set it up. After asking for his name and DOB, it told me he was too young to have an iCloud account (or maybe it was an AppleID; he's 8 BTW). So, i opened Mail (which for some reason is hanging mecilessly at evey click, beachballs nonstop) and went through the setup assistant. I thought i set up an iCloud email account successfully, using the me.com email i had created back in MobileMe. I don't remember setting a password up at that time, but i put in the one i most likely would have used and it seemed to take it. But when i tried to send him a message from my Mail, it would not send because it rejected his address.
So, i went back into his Mail program and added an IMAP account using the same email address, using the incoming/outgoing server info from my account (p01-imap.mail.me.com & smtp.me.com:hisemailprefix). The incoming server for his iCloud IMAP account is not editable, BTW, and says mail.example.com in grey. Still no luck, both accounts cannot connect. When i try to check the iCloud account it says it can't connect to the iCloud server and asks for the password, and when i put in the one i used to set up the Mail account it doesn't accept it. this kind of makes sense since he doesn't seem to have a full-fledged iCloud account. When i try to check the IMAP account it says it's offline, and when i try to take it online it asks for password but won't connect. mail Connection Doctor says Mail is connecting to the internet.
Should i try to do this from my login and Mail, see if that works? Is there a way to reset the password i may have used when i originally assigned the MobileMe account? Does his Mail program constantly freezing mean something (all his other programs work fine)? Any advice is appreciated; thanks!
    Rob
    [email protected]

As you did not migrate his sub-account to iCloud when this was possible (it would have become a separate iCloud account) you cannot retrieve the contents of his account. However unmigrated MobileMe addresses (other than aliases) can be reactivated by signing into System Preferences>iCloud with them and enabling Mail in the checklist there. Until you do this the account is not an iCloud account.
As you have found there is an age limit. If you had given them an age greater than 12 you would have been able to set this up. As it is, it's not set up and no amount of setting it up manually in Mail or sending messages to it is going to work.
The iCloud Terms of Service say:
'The Service is available to individuals aged 13 years or older. If you are 13 or older but under the age of majority in your country of residence, you must review this Agreement with your parent or guardian to make sure that you and your parent or guardian understand it. Parents or guardians should also remind any minors that conversing with strangers on the Internet can be dangerous and take appropriate precautions to protect children, including monitoring their use of the Service.'
Given this, it would not be proper to advise you to apply again mis-stating his age, even if the fact that you've already told them he is 8 does not technically bar you from doing this.

  • Sub-account cannot send email from Apple Mail

I've tried setting up two sub-accounts to send/receive email but no matter what I try, these accounts error out on sending email.  Looks like they aren't recognized by smtp server.  Is there a different setting for sub-accounts?

I fixed my problem - I deleted my email account on my iPhone, then tried to setup a new account. I had a few problems setting it up. It wouldn't recognize the incoming or outgoing servers and I lost my email altogether for a few hours. Then I changed every setting possible and finally figured out that I had 2-3 "Other SMTP Servers" as well as my "Primary Server". Once I deleted the Other SMTP Servers, my email worked and i'm able to send emails now!
I also think changing the "Server Port" number helped solve my problem also, and making sure "Use SSL" was turned off.

  • Turn my Sub-Account into Primary Account

    Guys,
Looking for some help as i can't get anywhere with online chat and even after speaking to someone over the phone who advised it would be resolved in 24hrs, i got an annoying text that i could not reply to stating it couldn't be done.
Basically a btinternet e-mail address that i have used for years is classed as as Sub-Account.  I have been trying to set up BT WIFI but when i use this e-mail address it says that it is not a primary account - i do know the primary e-mail address but since i never use that i would prefer to have just the one.
So i need to turn my Sub-Account into my Primary Account.
I was advised this could be done, gave them all the details, told it would be sorted in 24hrs time.  72hrs later i received a text message "We have tried to contact you but were unsuccessful, unfortunately the e-mail address you have requested is already in use"
Two things here, i've no missed calls or voicemails so i find it hard to believe they tried to call me, secondly i know that the e-mail address is already in use...because it is me that uses it! I just need it set to my primary...
How difficult can this be? Customer Service is really poor, several issues over the past 6months that i end up spending hours explaining a 2minute problem, i guess this is what happens when you offshore service desks and expect people to use basic transcripts to resolve a clear language barrier.
