E73 Mode missing DLNA support?

I just did a quick comapre of the E72 and E73 manuals, and it appears that the E73 Mode for T-Mobile does NOT support UPnP and DLNA, even though Nokia's own Spec sheet says it does.
Did T-Mobile yank this out, or was this an oversight on Nokia's part?

There are many reported issues with the E73 from T-Mobile. You better contact them about this crippled firmware.

  • Do I need a DLNA supported device in order to connect my SMART TV to the 5 Ghz network?

I use a Time Capsuel to create a network. Then, I use Plex media server on a PC and stream video from the TC harddrive to the plex app in the TV. Previously, from time to time, it has been slow, but most of the time it worked (1080p). My knowledge of network & stuff like this is limited...
    The problem:
My Smart TV (Samsung ue46es6715) does not connect to the network's 5 Ghz band any more. It connects to the 2,4 Ghz sometimes. It does not find the 5Ghz network anymore.
    Info from Samsung Support:
According to samsung support, I need a DLNA certified router. They say it is a compability problem without the DLNA support. So, samsung suppport claim this is the reason why I cannot connect to the 5 Ghz network - the TC does not support DLNA.
    Questions:
First of all; Is the samsung support team correct?
    2) Shouldn't I be able to connect to the 5 Ghz band in any case?
3 IF the Time Capsuel IS DLNA certified I can view, and stream data, direct from the TC harddrive
4 As the Time Capsule is not DLNA cerified, I need Plex working on a computer in order to stream data from the TC harddrive?
5 Even de fact that the TC does not support DLNA, I should still be able to at least connect the the 5 Ghz band?
    Enlighten me please

The TC does not support any media servers.. it is not and never has been a media device. It is as minimal as it can be and offers SMB to windows and AFP to Mac.. and that is the sum total of connections.
DLNA can be supplied to the TV by Plex running on the PC but I am unsure of the setup. You will need to look it up and specifically the issue with samsung TV. Apple of course will never support it.. Apple use iTunes.

    http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/forum/113-dlna/
Connection to 5ghz depends on setting up the connection in the TC correctly.. you have to realise you are not infact seeing the material on the TC.. you are only networking through the TC. The material is offered to your TV from the PC which is also connected to the TC and I guess using the TC as a filestore.. this is bad btw.. because then all files are streamed from TC--PC--TC---TV, You should use an external drive on the computer.. and share that with the network. Then it goes PC--TC--TV and you stop the double haul out and back to the TC. This is especially important if the PC is connected by wireless. That will reduce speed to a crawl.
5ghz is also poor range.. if the TC is far from the TV do not expect good connection or perhaps any connection.. try it close up to the TC.
Set the 5ghz to SMB standard name.. ie.. short.. 2-20 characters, No spaces and pure alphanumeric. Name should be different to the 2.4ghz name so you can choose it deliberately.
The TC name should also meet SMB standard.

  • I can't download itunes.  It says I am missing apple support.  What do I need to do?

When I go to download ITunes to my PC running Windows 8 it gets all the way to the end and says I am missing Apple support.  I must re-install and install again. I have done this and still no luck.  I have also tried installing through Firefox and it didn't work.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the above steps haven't helped try installing:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for a 32-bit core program, similar to previous 64-bit releases of iTunes, or roll back to:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
    as appropriate.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Missing HDCP Support

Hello, with the new Mac Book Pro Retina (latest software updates) I can't play within iTunes any videos / previews. "Missing HCDP support of the display" stated, but no external monitor attached. ReInstalled everything, still the same issue. I can hear the sound, but can't see any picture and the computer freezes for a couple of minutes... any idea? Thanks!

I had this same problem.  What worked for me- not sure which one did it, but I went to System Preferences-Displays, and I turned off "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" and I also changed my resolution from "Best for retina display" to scaled "More Space".  The other scaling options seemed to do similar.

  • Nokia E73 Mode File Manager/Gallery Alternatives?

Not sure if I'm in the right section, but I'm assuming.
For the Nokia E73 Mode the Gallery is too chaotic and disorganized. The images are organized on "Date Taken" instead of alphabetical or folders.
Normally I resolve this issue by viewing images via the File Manager option phones have. The problem with the Nokia E73 Mode File Manager is the files are not displayed through a thumbnail and in order to view the photo I have to open the file (and "View" it). It is annoying because it takes too long.
Now my question is for an alternative. Is there an alternative File Manager for E73 Mode that displays the files in a Thumbnail list?

Oh wow, I'm a total phone noob. Yeah, there was totally multiple USB options in the settings on the phone. I selected Data Storage and now I'm in business. Thanks for the tip!

  • [SOLVED] Missing LADSPA support and bs2b in mpv

I'm missing LADSPA support in mpv. (I know that mplayer2 supports it, in general.) Specifically, when I run mpv the following way, I get an error message:
    $ mpv --af=ladspa=/usr/lib/ladspa/cmt.so:amp_stereo:1 some.avi
    Option af: ladspa doesn't exist.
Error parsing option af (option parameter could not be parsed)
    Setting commandline option --af=ladspa=/usr/lib/ladspa/cmt.so:amp_stereo:1 failed.
    Exiting... (Fatal error)
(The path to the LADSPA plugin exists on my system.)
    I tried this:
    $ mpv --af=help
    Available audio filters:
    dummy : dummy
    delay : Delay audio filter
channels : Insert or remove channels
    format : Force audio format
volume : Volume control audio filter
    equalizer : Equalizer audio filter
    pan : Panning audio filter
    surround : Surround decoder filter
sub : Audio filter for adding a sub-base channel
    export : Sound export filter
drc : Dynamic range compression filter
extrastereo : Increase difference between audio channels
lavcac3enc : runtime encode to ac3 using libavcodec
lavrresample : Sample frequency conversion using libavresample
    sweep : sine sweep
    hrtf : HRTF Headphone
center : Audio filter for adding a center channel
    sinesuppress : Sine Suppress
karaoke : Simple karaoke/voice-removal audio filter
scaletempo : Scale audio tempo while maintaining pitch
    lavfi : libavfilter bridge
convert24 : Convert between 24 and 32 bit sample format
convertsignendian: Convert between sample format sign/endian
While man mpv suggests that LADSPA might be supported, it looks like it is actually not, at least not for the current community/mpv 0.3.5-1 release. I looked it up and this site suggests that there is a ladspa flag for compilation which, I presume, has not been used/enabled for compilation here.
EDIT: I just tried the bs2b filter and it fails just the same way:
    Option af: bs2b doesn't exist.
Error parsing option af (option parameter could not be parsed)
    Setting commandline option --af=bs2b=profile=default failed.
    Exiting... (Fatal error)
So, did I forget to install something? Or is it a compilation problem?
Last edited by itektur (2014-03-13 13:11:13)

    It's a compilation problem
    I have:
    $ mpv --af=help | egrep "ladspa|bs2b"
    ladspa : LADSPA plugin loader
    bs2b : Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural audio filter
And during compilation, you should see:
Checking for LADSPA plugin support : yes
Checking for libbs2b audio filter support : yes

  • Is there DLNA support in Adobe Debut?

I have bought Adobe Photoshop Touch and Proto, and I like it very much - now I'm thinking about buying Adobe Debut.
I'd like to know if streaming presentation directly to DLNA supported clients is possible with Adobe Debut?
If it is, it would make this one a killer app for me (imagine walking in front of audience, without wires and showing cool interactive presentation with ability to annotate, zoom-in/out, etc), but I wasn't able to find any information about it. It would be very good, especially that streaming of whole Android desktop isn't possible without rooting the device (or using USB debugging) as far as I know, but streaming single application window from specific app should be quite easy to implement, and shouldn't require root access (apps that do this can for example create slideshow/movie/stream of the fly and upload this).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Giniu,
Native streaming via DLNA is not a feature currently available in Adobe Debut. I suggest you post it as a idea aka feature request for consideration to be added in the future, interesting idea.

  • DLNA support for the TC

I use my TC for wireless backup and I also use the file sharing feature to transfer iTunes library / movies between it and my MB Air because the Air's SDD is not large enough to sync with all my movies. This works great as I change them out when traveling. I want to be ble to stream to my Apple TV or smart TV but can't do either due to the lack of DLNA support making it useless for steaming!  The TV is fine I get that as it isn't Apple but not being able to stream too Apple's own TV device is ridiculous?  I get that Apple may want the internal HDD for backups only but that is no reason why it shouldn't support DLNA for an external HDD or Apple should make Apple TV able to access the file share just like my Mac's do.
Does anyone know if there is a work around for this to achieve?  If not then it's going back and I'll pickup a router and an external WD NAS to attach and save some cash in the process.  I just like the idea of everything being all in one for this device!

Apple has their iTunes as a standard. And with that protected copyright so they are never going to allow DLNA to be used. They do not support any media servers in the TC.. never have and I suspect never will. People have found ways around it.. but you always need a player, eg WD TV, which can stream movies from raw files. Or you can use airplay for a device on the network to the ATV.. but ATV is also only a streamer.. the brains of the operation has to be somewhere else. ie itunes running on a computer.
You are trying to mix and match.. and that is something Apple will not allow.. you either go for the apple system.. or not. There is no half way mixed up approach.

  • Airport in Bridge mode "not a supported format." Are you F'n kidding me?

Forgive me if I'm freakin' a bit but I am at my wits end with Apple. Here's the breakdown.
Fiber DSL into a standard wired 4 port D-Link router. Router is connected to HP 24 port switch because the D-Link does not have enough ports for my house. Switch feeds cat5 to all rooms in the house. Airport Extreme (newest version) is in living room and set to Bridge mode. I use it to connect multiple items in my entertainment area and wireless access for the Macbooks and iPhones.
Up to a few weeks ago I was connecting my iMac via wireless but got sick of the connection dropping (pings would be unresponsive for minutes on end). I ended up moving my desk and plugging into a cat5 port on the wall. Well guess what... it's still dropping. OK, I removed everything from the network and started adding things one at a time over the past few days. Everything was running better than ever until I plugged the Airport back into the network. Mind you, I'm not running my iMac into the Airport, it is simply on the same network.
After shaking my head for a while I called Apple. Well I just got off the phone w/ Tier 3 tech support for the Airport Extremes. I tell them that I have no idea why, but I'm only dropping connections when the Airport is on the network and I'm just curious if there is something in the settings that I'm missing. This is where it gets good... The brilliant Tier 3 "Technician" tells me that I am running an unsupported configuration because the Airport is running in bridge mode and it's attached to a wired router across the house. He says that if the D-Link router was also wireless he could help me. I asked what the difference was if it was wired or wireless but all he could say was he couldn't help me because it was a unsupported configuration.
So - I'm ready to send all my CrApple gear to some poor kids on the other side of the world. Anyone have any ideas here?

    Bob Timmons wrote:
I'm reading the original post with the understanding that the AirPort Extreme is connected by ethernet to the network and the replies indicate that as well.
Are you saying that if the Extreme is in bridge mode connected by ethernet that the ports are not active?
Not at all. What I was trying to say was that the connection from the Extreme to the internet must go through the WAN port, not a LAN port. In a large network, this can happen unintentionally. For instance, suppose a client has Internet sharing enabled and is connected wirelessly to the Extreme and by Ethernet to another router. Then the internet connection from the other router would be shared with the entire subnet, including the Extreme through its LAN port. This could cause problems with the network.
However, with the network setup Jerastan describes, this does not seem to be the cause.

  • Nokia E73 Mode email Issue

I got a new E73 and I have been facing this strange issue with the email.
I have setup two gmail accounts using the inbuilt email service from nokia.
I am using the phone on a wifi connection to connect to the internet.
The issue is that whenever my phone is ideal the email loses the internet connectivity ** the green circle which shows that the email is online turns Red cross indicating that connection is lost **  and regains it only when manually connected. Is someone facing this issue I need the phone to be fetch email and not get disconnected....!!!

I just moved over from an e71 to e73, and do miss the feature of placing an "Internet call" directly.
However, I did find a workaround, if you install the "Fring" app from the Ovi Store it lets you configure a SIP provider. The app will let you make call to people in your phone book using SIP, I have tested this on the E73.
Another app that claims to support SIP is "Nimbuzz", but I have not tested it.

  • Missing application support folder or how to recover a folder

    Hi,
I've searched the forum and see a lot of information on missing files/photos/operating systems/applications, but I've been unable to find information to help me recover my "Application Support" folder. It is usually in System>Library but now its not there and I have no idea where it went. I've searched in finder and nothing has come up. I've tried the same within Time Machine but I suppose its possible that the folder has been lost since before my backup.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks!
    C

It is usually in System>Library but now its not there and I have no idea where it went.
It should be in /Library/ and ~/Library/, but not /System/Library/.

  • Missing "Application Support" folder in home library (OS 10.6)

So about 6 months ago my old Macbook (from 2006, running OS 10.5.8) finally bit the dust for the last time with a fried logic board. However, this time the hard drive was perfectly functional, so I rescued it from the laptop before trading in the rest of the parts to get a discount on a new Macbook Pro (running OS 10.6.8).
Because the hard drive is still functional, I'm using a hard drive reader to transfer over all my files and information to the new laptop. Everything is there on the old drive, except one key component. I'm missing the "Application Support" folder from my home library (~/Library), which contains a lot of important settings for several applications I use (such as Firefox, an MSN messenger clone I use, etc). I've tried connecting the hard drive reader several times, and each time that folder is missing when I open up the home folder Library.
This folder was clearly there and functioning when the hard drive was still in my old computer. So my question is, where did it go? Is there any way of accessing it with the hard drive reader? Is it gone because of some kind of corruption, and why is it just that folder in particular that's missing? Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated, since the missing settings contained information that will be very difficult, if not impossible to replace.
    Thanks!

Disk Utility will do a verify/repair of an external disk. Though the chances of this being disk corruption is imo slim. For only one subfolder of of one folder to get clobbered due to a hardware failure while possible is extremely remote.
Try the Disk Utility repair function if the directory is collbered that should recover it (or at least let you know that there is an issue with the drive).
    good luck

  • Some compatibility modes missing for certain exe's ??

    Hi,
I found that I can get the Xerox Phaser 5500 postscript driver not to crash in Vista x64 by flagging x2jobtAO.exe to use Windows 2003 Server Sp1 compatibility mode.  However in Windows 7 x64 I can't do that but I can for other executables.  Only
Windows Server 2008 Sp1, Vista gold, Sp1, Sp2 modes are available.  Is there a way to get back Windows 95, 98/ME, XP, 2003 modes???

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot this issue.
    1.
    Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers].
    2.
Create a new String Value in the right pane, and name it with the full path of the program’s exe file.
    3.
Modify the full path of the program’s exe file with the following Compatibility Mode Date value.
    Windows 95 Mode
    WIN95
Windows 98 / Windows Me Mode
    WIN98
Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5) Mode
    NT4SP5
    Windows 2000
    WIN2000
Windows XP (Service Pack 2) Mode
    WINXPSP2
Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1)
    WINSRV03SP1
    Does it work?
