Edits missing in LR 6

Hi,
Just realised that all my edits which were in LR 5, are missing in LR 6. All the xmp files are in the folders with the photos. I have just loaded a back up catalog from before the update to to LR 6, but no edits present.
any ideas?

After the upgrade (about a week ago) LR6 opened and upgraded the catalog. I loaded on photos from card and carried on as normal. Today I loaded on more photos, and while the previews were building checked on some older photos and immediately I could see no edits. Further checks revealed no edits at all from that past 18 months.
I have just checked that catalog file and the back up done after the upgrade was about 1% of its LR5 size. I have just gone back to a LR5 backup and loaded it into LR6 and its upgraded it and all the edits are all there. Just imported the photos that were post LR6 upgrade and its now building previews etc..
Good job I keep backups of the catalog. I think problem is solved as such.

"Hacked" is not my terminology, and I don't believe it's intended to be derogatory. What you describe is a perfectly legitimate reason to alter Hosts.
If your Mac still isn't working as expected after uninstalling Intego and Trend Micro, read on. The necessity to have a reliable backup cannot be overstated, since what you describe may be an indication of impending disk failure.

If your Mac is momentarily unresponsive, consider the following.
Launch the Console app - it is in your Utilities folder. You can find it by selecting Utilities from the Finder's Go menu.

Locate system.log in the list and select it. Many date and time-stamped entries will appear, hundreds of them, and you must find the entries relevant to your Mac's problem.
To do that click the Clear Display button in the Toolbar. All previously displayed log entries will be disappear.
Next: Perform whatever actions cause the Mac to exhibit the slow behavior. If the problem is caused by errors logged by the system, the Console window will show them being recorded in system.log.
One or more of them, along with their time stamps, may reveal the reason for the problem you describe.
Copy and paste those log entries in a reply. If hundreds of the same repetitive messages appear, please edit them before posting. There should be no need for more than a few log entries.
Most of the entries will be cryptic but will contain information you might consider personal such as your Mac's name. If you do not want that information to appear, delete or obscure it when posting your reply. Leave enough information so that the entries can be deciphered.

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition missing libjson.so.0

Hi guys, I just installed the beta of BGEE from Steam and I noticed that it won't start. I figured out it was missing libjson.so.0 by running it from the terminal.
Knowing good and well I had json-c and lib32-json-c installed, I was stumped.

Now, I have to tell you, I got the same error when I had the idea of symlinking the newer library with the older filename too. I undid that before I tried this.
I'm guessing it's some problem with opengl or my nvidia driver.
Now, how do I continue troubleshooting?

Lr/ACR edits missing when opening dng to Ps

hello,
I´m using latest CC versions from Lightroom and Photoshop. Recently I have been having these issues with Photoshop opening file which don´t show basic edits done in Lr or ACR. Ps opens an original file.
I have also Nik plugins, could that be an explanation for this? On the other hand, I have had those plugins over a year and this missing edits issue came out just couple of days ago. I´m using .dng files and I´m opening file from Lightroom to Ps by "edit in photoshop" command.
I have reseted Ps and from Lr preferences "reset all warnings" has been done.
Any thoughts?

Lightroom 5 uses the equivalent of ACR 8.x and the Latest ACR Plugin available for PS CS5 is version 6.7.
When you use the "edit in function" from Lightroom you should be getting a warning dialog that offers the choice of "Render using Lightroom" or "open anyway". If you wish all the edits done in Lightroom you need to choose "render using Lightroom" if you choose "open anyway" then ACR 6.x may not be able to apply all the edits done by Lightroom.
If you do not see the missmatch warning it is because it was turned off in a previous session. From the Lightroom main menu bar go to ""Edit >Preferences >General tab > under Prompts select Reset all warning dialogs""

Token for Appointment edit missing?

Hi there,
Im searching for a token to call the new function "Edit" for appointments which was invented with GW 2012, something like ItemEdit. Is this really not implemented or just missing in the documentation?

I figured it out...zooming in/out using pinch and zoom on the calendar vertically increases/reduces the granularity. I now have meeting titles showing up again for my 30 minute appointments.

Student Edition missing MAX

I am using Labview 8.0 Student Edition at home to assist in work duties and have run into a snag. I was trying to make a Simulated Device, and when I tried to open Measurement and Automation, it wasn't there. I don't know how I missed it before but have been switching between work and home and just didn't notice this before.
It is referenced in the Student Edition Manual, Cahp. 9, Sec. 8 so I am assuming that it is available.
Is there a special download that I have to use to enable MAX in the Student edition?

MAX gets installed when you install device drivers. If you want to create a simulated device, you need the DAQmx drivers. You can download them at:

Select tool in PDF editing - missing

Hi,
I use Adobe Acrobat 8 Profession.
The "select" tool has disappeared and unable to select object or text to edit.
With the select tool I could choose any object or text within a PDF document to edit, alter, replace or just remove.

Don't paste images into pagemaker, ever, always place them. If your pdf if acrobat 4 compatible you can place the pdf directly, but be prepared for document bloat.
Acrobat pro allows you to open individual images in Photoshop. You can also open pdfs in photoshop directly, but you have to guess at the resolution.

Three-Point Edit Missing Frames

Hello,
So I am exerpiance a very stange problem, with a very simple operation, and I have no idea why this is happening. I am using a three-point eidt to cover some heavy breaths in a voice over. I have 20 seconds or so of roomtone loaded into my source viewer. The roomtone has an in point a few frames in (to leave room for a transition) and no out point. On my timeline, I create an in and out point, around the audio I want to cover. The gap I am covering is usually only a few frames, a quick inhale, or weird mouth noise. I have done this, many times no problem.
Today, everytime I overwite to replace the audio on the timeline, the clip is a few frames short of my selection. So, for example, I have a 14 frame selection in my timeline. When I overwrite, PP is only placing 11 frames from my roomtone clip. Again, roomtone is over 20 seconds, loading in the source viewer with only an in point. Timeline as both in and out point, so it's a proper three point edit setup, and the is way more then enough material to cover the selection.
If I have to roll out every clip I cover, it's going to be a long day, so any help would be apperciated. I am using Premeire Pro CC (Version 7.2.1) on a Mac (OS X 10.9.1). I have uses these exact versions before, and not had this issue.

This has been a challengeing little problem for me. Each time I think I have norrowed it down it crops back up. That being said I have come up with a work around, that is working consistently. I thought I would share it, incase someone else has the same problem.
The room tone clip I use has video, but normally, don't patch it to the timeline. I noticed that when I did patch the video in, the correct number of frames where placed on the timeline. So I added an extra track above all the others, turned visibility for that track off, and patch the video there. When I was done with that sequence, I simply deleted the extra track.
Still not as good as an actual fix, but much less time consuming then having to adjust each edit.

975 power up edition missing dvd drives

insalled window xp pro on my new system 975 power up edition , e6600 , 2 optical drives and 2 sata drives , windows installed without any problems dectected both my optical drives and hdd.
the only thing was after the system was setup i noticed that the drives took very long to install programs on my pc , so i installed the jmicron driver which came with the cd , now the drives work faster or normal but my 2nd cd rom is not showing up in windows. it shows in the bios screen under the jmicron heading , i tried uninstalling jmicron but then windows says to install the drivers again.
pls help i want to use both drives ..

You can try to uninstall the drivers or if you're using system restore, roll back to before they went on.
In the long run, you'll be happier moving everything off the J-Micron in my opinion.
then again, opinions, especially mine, are just that; as such, take them cum grano salis. I know it is poor practice to use two optical drives on the same channel, especially when copying disk to disk, but this board seems to be the exception.
Another option, of course, is to get an SATA optical drive. There are a few out there, and it cleans up your case a bit by not having those rolled ribbon cables in there

IPhone 5 picture edit missing 'cancel' &'crop' buttons

I'm trying to crop a picture, I'm at the screen where you constrain the picture, but the phone doesn't show the 'crop' button, nor does it show the 'cancel' button on top of the screen. Now I'm stuck at this page and cannot go back to anywhere in 'Picture'. However I do have access to 'Picture' through 'Camera'. But it's just very inconvinient, and wrong. Help!!!

- shuffle icon doesn't turn off when turning it off in "shuffle all songs" mode
- when switching back to video, the currently played video should be present as with music play
- once switched 24hr mode, switching back to 12hr mode doesn't work
- Japanese IME not available in widescreen orientation
- orientation doesn't change whilst in input mode
- screen orientation for all screens
- 360 degree screen; orientation change in any direction (currently only works one way)
missing features:
- the usual suspects: scheduler edit, missing email, 3rd party sdk
- album/ artist shuffle
- video/ tv shows continues play
- apple should talk to apple: safari support for apple .mac websites (email, quicktime)
- usb disk support
- better volume and position control as fine tuning is difficult; maybe reintroduce circular motion
- itunes-like search

Not sure what you are referring too... If I tap the screen once to get the commands to come up and then tap the shuffle icon, it changes from blue to white depending on whether shuffle on or off.

once they keyboard comes up (input mode) and you tilt the iPt, it doesn't switch orientation anymore until you finished

Actually, if you are in the music section, you can turn the screen to get an orientation in 3 positions. The only one position it wont move to is the one where the IPT is upside down.
1. it should be able to switch in any section; even in lists because this would be natural for a user.
2. upside down should definetly work because many people will have the iPt in a pocket, or additionaly, like me in a small pouch-bag. since the headphone jack is on the bottom, the natural position on first view when taking it out will always be upside down in such cases.

Isn't that pretty much the same as song shuffle? I don't think I have ever gone to a song on the same album, much less the same artist.
no. i am a bit old school, mind me saying that, and am usually listening to whole albums. so, i just want the next album being choosen by random. btw, itunes and the old iPods have this functionality already. as for the artists, i think, the same should apply and am sure to use it. maybe it is not your listening style but i know plenty of people doing it.
If you go into the selection list that arranges by album or artist and select a song through there the shuffle works just on the album or artist you opened, if that was what you meant.

I think i read somewhere that you should be forwarded too the .mac website that is made for the IPT and the iPhone
well, i am not forwarded to other than just the regular mail interface when going to webmail.mac.com. just viewing is fine but trying to compose a message always breaks somewhere, either entering the address field before entering the text field, or when getting it right when pressing "sent". in such cases the the IPt just returns to the main application screen and that is it for this. if you find what you were mentioning, pleasxe post

Not sure what you are refering too.... using the IPT for storage or using a USB key for extra space to store on the touch

[SOLVED] Yaourt issue - query's dependency (yajl) not installing

First off, I'm fairly new to Arch, but with the assistance of the Beginner's Guide I managed to get a running, beautiful, simple system. Now...
I've been trying to install yaourt, but it has a dependency (query) which ALSO has a dependency (yajl). I've tried downloading a tarball of yajl and installing it that way, and I've tried using the PKGBUILD file, but query still says that it isn't installed. I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong, but any relevant input is welcome. Thanks, guys!

I tried using the -s switch with query; yajl installed with no issues, as did query (or so the terminal said), but when I tried the same switch with yaourt, it gave me this:

Characters (multi-byte) in printjoin ignored in context index

I have one problem with a challenging text search in our company. The paragraph-sign should be found in multiple searches so we need to index tokens containing it.
To make clear what I found out so far I constructed a test case. Seems to be important that the database character set is AL32UTF8 (edit: Database Version is 11.2.0.3).

All rows are indexed correctly cos all the special characters are defined as printjoins. One row is missing - the row containing the paragraph sign is splitted in two tokens ("JOIN" and "PRINT"). The paragraph sign is treated as not existent in the printjoins attribute value (but it is defined with the correct codepoint in the ctx-View).
The paragraph sign differs from the other special characters so far, that it is stored as a multi(2-)-byte-character in the db. Content of the test_tab table:

So I suspect the multy-byte character set as a cause of the problem. But documentation says BASIC_LEXER supports the character set. I can't determine whether the problem has to do with storing the index preferences or appears while indexing the data.
Seems to be a non-common problem - ideas anybody

Missed one thing - the mentioned auft_fuzzy_pref for index creation is just set for configure the index as a substring index:
EXEC ctx_ddl.create_preference('AUFT_FUZZY_PREF', 'BASIC_WORDLIST');
EXEC ctx_ddl.set_attribute('AUFT_FUZZY_PREF','SUBSTRING_INDEX','TRUE');

You can test to send the XML-Mesage in "ISO-8859-1" encoding.
You Chance the encoding on XML Header:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
maybe this works.
