Email server authentication

Hi,
I am trying to write a report vi that sents out an email once an experiment process is complete. After running the program written with send message.vi, I am always getting the  error message "Error 54 : The network address is ill-formed". I am not too sure what this error mean. Anyone can enlighten me on this?
I am suspecting whether is this is related to the requirement of providing authentication for the smtp server I am using. If so, anyone know whether there is a vi that has parameter input for authentication? I am currently using Labview 7.1
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I have seen error 54: Network address is ill-formed" when either 1) your format for the server string is ill formed or 2) if you have some sort of firewall.  A firewall would block the TCP connection needed to use the SMTP send email  Further troubleshooting would be needed to narrow down as to where you are getting this error.  Use the debugging tools provided to locate as to where exactly you are getting that error.
I hope this helps,
Regards,

  • Ios7.1.2 email server authentication error

We have a problem sending email using iMail client on a) iPad (ios7.1.2(11D257) and b) iMac (Auto updating Mavericks OS10). However, we can send email from iPad (ios7.1.1 (11D201). All three devices can receive email.
All machines use the same email account and servers. All are using the same email client. All have been working effectively for past 4 years - the problem started about 1 month ago.
Have spent "hours" with email service provider to troubleshoot the problem. Here is a list of the steps we have taken:
    1) checked email servers, confirming that email accounts can both send and receive email. This included testing via a webmail client, and from a Microsoft Outlook client. In both cases the tests confirmed that email can be received AND sent via the email server.
    2) setup alternate email servers, on different ports, on iPad - can always receive email but cannot send. The error message that is received is "username or password for 'mail.iinet.net.au' is incorrect"
    3) deleted email accounts and rest device to wipe it clean, then started from scratch - can establish the email account, can receive email, but still get the same error message when trying to send email "username of password for 'mail.iinet.net.au' is incorrect"
    4) tried alternative email client (CloudMagic, Evomail, Canonball) - not possible to connect to the email account, typical error is "unable to verify your account information"
    5) tried to setup account on iPhone across mobile phone network to isolate whether problem was local WiFi - same result
The only thing that has shone any light on this was when we identified the outgoing mail server as "mailout.comhem,se" with no authentication. With this setting email would send. This could suggest a problem with the WiFi network, but it has been working perfectly well up till now, and on other WiFi networks. It also does not explain the problem with iMac from home which is directly connected to an ADSL service provided by our email service provider (no intermediary in play at all).  This also means that for every new WiFi network that I use (I travel a lot) I will need to find the details of an intermediate outgoing mail server for the specific WiFi provider. It is not clear why routing through an intermediary email server overcomes the authentication error at the destination email server, unless there is some more fundamental problem at play.
The authentication error has been isolated to somewhere between the device and the server - could there be some ios7.1.2 issue at play that is causing the authentication to fail, but not when directed through an intermediary mail server?
This problem is deeply frustrating, and any help would be greatly appreciated

I haven't ran across this, but I do see that there is no SQL Instance Name in your screenshot. Try putting SQLTMS in there and then click next and see what happens. Or if you know the name of your TMS database instance, put that in there.

It has the bells and whistles that allow you to provide authentication. Search/google the web for

  • Email outgoing server authentication

Is there a way of turning on outgoing server authentication. On the email that is built in the n95-8gb?
What I am trying to do is setup an live pop3 account mailplus
I can read my emails but can not send any.
Our POP service requires that you use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the POP and SMTP connection and use SMTP authentication. This is to ensure that your email address and password are not subject to tampering. The settings are the following:
    POP: pop3.live.com (port 995)
    SMTP: smtp.live.com (port 25)
Note: make sure you check the box that indicates that your outgoing server requires authentication (in most mail clients this is not checked by default).
    Username: your full email address
Password: your Windows Live ID password

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination.

    OS: OS X Mavericks
    iPhoto: iPhoto v9.5.1 (902.17)
I choose a photo, select Share, select Email, enter an email address to send to and click Send - then I get this error: "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
In iPhoto preferences I have "Email photos using" set to "iPhoto"; I have an account added for Gmail (outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com; Port: 587; User Name and Password are correct for my gmail account, Use SSL is checked - basically everything is default for when I chose to add a gmail account and I'm positive my user name and password are entered correctly). I do not have 2-step verification enable for my gmail account (I've been searching for a solution online and noticed others mentioned this - this does not apply to my situation).
Please help! What is going on? I just want to send an email from iPhoto using my gmail account.
    Thanks!

Thanks again for responding, MrHoffman; my responses to your questions are below in italics:
Have you tested the Gmail account via Apple Mail.app, and does both sending and receiving work?
Yes, I have tested the Gmail account via the Apple Mail.app - sending and receiving work just fine.
Have you confirmed that the Gmail user and password work with the Gmail web interface?
Yes, I am sure it is the correct username and password; I am able to access the Gmail account via the Gmail web interface.
Are you aware of and familiar with both sets of credentials present within each account within Mail.app?  In particular, have you gotten to the configuration displays the SMTP server settings?  (Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) > select Edit SMTP Server List > select the SMTP server account > edit the SMTP server settings.)
I'm not sure what you mean by both sets of credentials, but yes, in the Mail.app I have set the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to Gmail (and used the Edit SMTP server list... option to set the smtp server to use default ports, use SSL, and use "Password" authentication (again with my correct username and password for the Gmail account). I also have the Account Information in Mail.app set for the incoming mail server (maybe that's what you mean by both). Either way, I believe having these settings for incoming mail server and outgoing mail server are allowing me to send and receive email for this Gmail account through Mail.app.
I've also had some success by launching Keychain Access.app and finding all passwords associated with the account — specifically and only the Gmail account, in this case — and removing them from your keychain.  This does mean you'll have to re-add those passwords — using Mail.app and no other applications — and see if things start working.
I just tried this - I launched Keychain Access.app and removed all entries associated with Gmail. I opened Mail.app, re-entered my password info, and sent a test email to another account - this worked. I opened iPhoto.app, re-entered my password via the Preferences, selected a photo, selected share, selected email, entered a to: address and clicked send - this didn't work (same error message as before (The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination).

  • No option to change "Incoming server authentication method" to None on iPhone 6?

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6 and did a restore from my 5......   Problem is my pop e-mail account won't connect....  It still connects on both my iPad and iPhone 5, both of which are iOS 8.  The only setting that differs between the two that work and my new iPhone is under the "Incoming server authentication method" setting.  On the working devices, nothing has a check mark.  On the new iPhone, "Password" is checked, and I can't find a way to uncheck it (there is no "none" option).
Surely I should be able to work around this?

    Hello 83preston,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help troubleshoot email issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
"Username or password is incorrect" with POP3 account
Before you check your email on your iOS device, close any other email programs and close any webmail sites you may have open on another computer.
To see if your account is a POP3 account, use the Mail Settings Lookup tool or follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap the account.
Look for the label POP ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
If your email provider offers IMAP, remove the POP3 account, then add the account with your provider's IMAP settings. POP3 communicates with one mail client at a time. If more than one mail client tries to connect, you might see a username or password error.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Email server failure

When I use the credentials for verizon.net, the Verizon email server fails to authenticate.  This is true whether accessing the mail server through Outlook or the Service support page.  Does anyone have a clue about what would cause credentials that work to sign onto verizon.net and access email would fail when presented through Outlook or the service support email test page.
In outlook, I have tried to present the userID as both [email protected] and username .  The service support page only supports [email protected]

--The account name should only be username, no need to type [email protected]
    --Outgoing server requires authentication.

  • Connect to unathenticated email server?

How do you connect an iphone 4s to an unathenticated email server?  iphone defaults require some form of authentication (password, etc), but my POP3 email host does not use authentication on their server.  Currently no work email on my new work phone...not good.  I don't want to go back to blackberry!  Webmail is not a long-term solution.  I need to use Outlook for records retention purposes.
    Thanks!

    bucko55,
I spoke with Apple yesterday.  They advised including your username and password for outgoing mail server.  In the settings both of those are optional.  When I added my user/pass my mail send/receive worked.
I hope this solves your issue too.

  • TLS enabling on Email Server

    Hi
We are planning to use TLS at the email server for authentication. We are using Oracle B2B 10g and in that using 'Custom document over generic exchange' protocol. Is there any other additional setting to be done in B2B for this set up? The TLS is mainly between the mail server of host the TP. A quiick response is required so that we can make a decision.
    Thanks in advance.

    Kavitha,
Don't think any additional configuration may be required except enabling SSL at your B2B server and configuring wallets.

  • Problem updating Email Server settings

I was able to update Email Server settings in one of my computer. When I tried my mobile devices (ipod and ipads) I was able to set the new outgoing setting, port, and SSL. Setting the incoming part I was able to change Port # and SSL but I couldn't set "pop.verizon.net " . I got an error message:"The POP server pop.verizon.net doesn't support Authenticated POP (APOP) authentication. Please check your account settings and try again. And of course, I couldn't get any e-mail. Thank you in advance!!

Thanks to dhutton I found out that APOP is not supported, do you have an option for clear text? If not please let us know what email client you are using. Welcome to the forum

  • Trying to email an image from Lightroom 5.7 and I get the error validation failed to establish connection with email server

ffailed to establish connection with the outgoing email server.  Yet my email works fine with sending and receiving anything else.

Your settings will usually be blocked by Google unless you agree to lower your security settings.
Enter your details as shown in image 1 below and click the validate button.
You should see a LR message that the server settings could not be authenticated.
Launch your web browser and go to your Gmail inbox. Look for a message from Google confirming the authorization attempt was blocked.
Click on the link (highlighted in red) on image 2 below.
You will need to Click on the link “Allow less secure apps”
    Choose enable
    Click done
Now go back to LR and click the validate button and your Gmail account should show as validated.
You can now select a thumbnail from the LR Library and mail it by pressing the keys Control + Shift + M (Cmd+Shift+M on Mac)
The alternative is to set up Google two step verification and make the security application specific to Lightroom.

  • Lumia 800 outgoing email server settings

    Hello,
I need to set my outgoing work email (SMTP) server port number to 587 and connection security to TLS. However, I can't see an option to set either the port number nor the security to TLS. SSL security can be turned on/off, but no mention of TLS.
I have read elsewhere that setting the server name as <server name> : <port number> can be used (that is, using a colon to separate the server name from the port number), but still this does not allow for selecting TLS security.
My incoming email, IMAP, works fine, so my connection/username/password etc. should all be fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is actually the case but according to Google. They use port 587 on their SMTP for TLS connections and port 465 for SSL. I created the following using port 587 and was able to send an email.....
Advanced Email Configuration (relevant info only)
    Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.gmail.com:587
outgoing server requires authentication: (Checked On)
Require SSL for outgoing email: (Checked On)

  • Email Settings Authentication Failed - User and Pass are correct

Starting late last week I noticed I wasn't getting any tickets, even when I was submitting them. Today I checked my email settings and although they hadn't been changed an unknown error occurred. Figuring a bad address I changed the email server address from server.domain.org to the URL we use to connect phones and access our web mail system. After hitting submit I get a message saying it's an invalid username or password. I've double checked the username and password and I am able to login to our Exchange server (from my computer and the Spiceworks server) using it. I've tried various combinations of the username [domain]\username, [email protected], and [email protected] All fail authentication. I also, for laughs, changed the password on the account. Still fails. Is there something I'm missing? I am using the latest...

  • TS3274 Get a message on emails "can't send or receive emails; server failed

Before sending and after receiving an email I get a message "cannot receive email server failed" / I can hit "ok" and the email sends anyway; how can I fix this aggravating message?

    Hello, Gthomp.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There could be a couple causes for this and I will include a couple solutions.  Sometimes the account credentials need to be authenticated and can cause this message.  Try forcing all applications to close and power cycle the device.  Two step verification may be enabled causing this error, try checking if this feature is enabled, disable and test.  The last solutions I could recommend would be in the second article and third article below.
iOS: Force an app to close

    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
iOS: Gmail account will not connect to Gmail server

  • EMAIL SMTP Authentication

    Hi,
we have a email server outside our company that needs a authentication.
    When i´m correct then
utl_smtp has authentication but no clob attachment function
and apex_mail has clob attachments but no authorisation.
Is there one trick to get both features ?
    Thanks
    Marco

    Marco,
Using utl_smtp gives you more control over creating e-mails.
Utl_smtp can be used for attachment functions (clob, blob, etc.).
First of all you need to think about how to send the attachment, i.e. quoted-printable, base64, etc.
If you have figured that out, you can use the utl_smtp.write_data to set the headers and to add the attachment (or use utl_smtp.write_raw_data for the attachment in case of base64).
Anywayz, there is enough information available on the internet about this.
    Cheerz,
    Marco
