Email Settings: Gmail

I use my iPod Touch 5th Gen to check email when away from home.  My email account is with Gmail.  I primarly use my pc (MS Outlook 2013) for my email processing.   Prior to my hard disc drive failure, when I checked email on my iPod Touch, only unread email would appear; when I would access Outlook, the email would be downloaded to Outlook and be removed from my iPod.  This was very convienient.
A couple of months ago, hard drive failed.  Fortunately all was backed up.  After reinstalling the new drive, it was necess to reinstall all of my programs including MS Outlook 2013.  Since then, email has been accumulating on my iPod and I have to manually delete email.  It still downloads to Outlook.  I hve tried a number of different Gmail settings (including POP3 and IMAP.  I have also tried diffent settings on my iPod as well as with Outlook.  I can't seem to find the solution.
Currently, on my iPod, all of the outgoing messages are appearing in the "Inbox" and oll of the incoming messages are appearing in the "Sent".
I hope somebody out there has a solutin

- A POP3 accpount  allows you to download messages from the server and then either leave them on the server or delete them from the server. Once download and removed from the server they are not available on another device. If download and leave on server and go to another device they are not marked as downloaded on another device.
- An IMAP account synchronizes messages among different devices. If you read a message on one device it is marked as read on other devices when yo access the account. If you delete a message on one device it gets deleted on all devices when those devices access the account.
You want to use IMAP

  • Trouble accessing Email Settings when setting up a Gmail account

    Hi there,
I have searched the forum but can't find any similar issues.
I have used BB before and just set up my new Curve 9300 (from work). The Work email and everything else works fine, but I can't set up a Gmail account on it. If I use the Wizard (or go via Email Options), and select 'Email Account Management', the screen says 'Initializing application - connecting to email settings', then it times out and gives the error message 'Your device had a problem connecting to the server'. I get this error message every time and my Work IT won't assist me in resolving the issue,
    Any suggestions gratefully received!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jalber

Have you tried the hard reset? Removing battery for 2 minutes then put it back again? If this does not help you might need to set-up a user name and password to access your email settings on your phone. If you have access to a BIS website make sure the new phone's PIN and IMEI are the ones recorded there, if you have no account you need to create one on the website or you can call your service provider they will create it for you and send a password.

  • HT1430 Hello, email settings correct, can not send emails from the ipad,

****, I HAVE ENTERED ALL MY EMAIL SETTINGS CORECTLY INTO MY IPAD FROM MY EMAIL ACCOUNT ON MY PC AND I CANNOT SEND EMAILS FROM IPAD  , WHAT AM I DOING WRONG CAN YOU HELP PLEASE

it could be one of many reasons, is it giving you a reason why it is not sending emails?
I know you said everything is the same as your PC email settings, but I would double check, also the iPad will tend to default to IMAP, so if you are using POP3 for your email, you may need to change the settings on the mail server. For example Gmail default to POP3 and needs IMAP turning on.
What email account are you using? Who is it with?

  • Hi. I have an older Mac running OS 10.4.11. I absent mindedly upgraded to FireFox 3.6.24 and now can no longer attach files to email in gmail or ymail. Is it possible to load an older version of FireFox and regain this function?

FireFox 3.6.15 and newer require OS 10.5 or 10.6. The latest version of OS X the Macintosh G4 I own is physically capable of running is OS 10.4.11. Whenever I try to attach a file to an email in gmail.com or ymail.com, FireFox crashes. Is it possible to load a version of FireFox older than 3.6.15 to avoid having to buy a new computer?

Hi again - since writing the above I have posted on Adobe>Webplayer>Flash forum the following request and will post on here if I receive a reply that works:
Firefox updated to 3.6.14 and then advised Flash 10 be installed. I did this and now on YouTube videos all I see is a black screen with no play or pause button. System is OS X10.4.11 Have now followed Adobe instructions to Uninstall Flash player on system and then Install Flash 10. But still at YouTube Safari says Flash 10 is needed and in FF shows a black box only. I use Intego virus barrier but this has never blocked an update before. Flash is enabled in Firefox and Safari.
eldnolb at Adobe forum advised: Go to this site and right click on the Flash logo, Settings, Display Settings. UNcheck the hardware acceleration.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
But when I go to this page no logo appeared for me to right click on, which again means that Flash player is not working... so I could not access Settings, Display Settings, Uncheck etc. Was advised to start a new Mac entitled thread. Clare

    Hi Beigi,
According to your description, I understand that Exchange cannot received the message from Gmail, however others works well.
    Great checklist from Hotaka.
Additional, I want to double confirm whether any other antivirus and protection software in your environment, also the
    Anti-Spam
    or
Transport rule settings, for example sensitive words, IP block list and attachment filter, so that the message from external trigger constraints and be rejected. Meanwhile, please double check in OWA.
Besides, please use message tracking log to get more details for this issue. It’s more helpful to narrow down the problem, for your reference:

  • Email Settings

Hope someone can help with my email settings. I have 2012 MBA, iphone5, and ipad4. I am using Comcast email through Mac Mail. I realize the Comcast email does not support IMAP, and does not completly sync with all devices, and maybe that is some of the problem. I dont think that this is a syncing issue, rather something else maybe in the settings that will solve it. Here sre some of the things going on.
    1) I am having a problem managing Comcast email on all three devices. For example, if I get 10 emails a day, it is like getting 30 total emails because the same email is delivered to all three devices. When checking emails on the phone - I delete them. When checking emails on ipad - same emails there, and need to delete them. When checking emails on MBA - same emails that were on other two devices, and delete them.
I thought that I had this solved, when talking to Comcast customer service. They said to check - Always Remove Email from Server on all devices. I thought that by checking this it would remove the email from the phycial Comcast.net email client. For example, if I logon to Comcast.net, click email, I see emails. Now that I have this option checked, I dont see emails there. But now I am noticing the following:
    2) When I am out and about, and check email during the day on my phone, I may see an email come in with an attachment that I need to save on my MBA. When I get home, the email is not listed within my Mac Mail client. I guess it is because I already read it on the phone?
So it is true, it removes the email from the actual comcast.net site, but its still coming to all three devices, expect for the MBA which I point out above. What is really strange is that this only seems to impact the MBA email. The same email that I read from the phone earlier is still on the ipad, where I have to delete it a second time. It's just not on my MBA, where I thought I would deal with and delete there.
Now, if I logon to MBA first thing in the moring, without checking phone or ipad email, the email is sitting there. But, then its also on the phone and ipad, which I need to delete manually from each.
I really need to figure this out because I am getting emails that I read on the phone quickly, thinking I will respond later, but its not on the MBA for me to deal with later. Also, I dont always want to respond from the phone. Lets face it, the leyboard on the phone is rather small, and when the need arises to reply with a book type of answer its much easier to have a keyboard to type that message.
Anyone have Comcast email, using that within the Mac Mail client on many different Apple devices that can help me out here?

So this means that POP email is sent to all three devices, and on all three I need to manually delete from each?
    Yes.
Do you think I should sign up for gmail or Yahoo, then forward all of my Comcast email to that account, then set up gmail or Yahoo as my mail account in Mail App?
That's an option, but I wouldn't recommend Yahoo to my worst enemy. Gmail has privacy implications that you may want to research.
What about the thing in mail settings "remove from server"?
If one client removes a message from the server before it's retrieved by the others, then the others will never see it. If the message is removed after the others retrieve it, it won't be removed from them.

  • Email Settings Wiped Out on Regular Basis - Phone Network Issue?

Not sure where to post, but the CEO of our company has had an ongoing issue with his Droid X, and actually I suspect it being a phone network problem.  On a consistent basis when he travels from our office to his weekend home about 100 miles from us, his phone loses the POP3 email settings for our company email which is setup on his phone.  The account settings appear normal, yet we have to re-enter them and then turn the phone off and on again in order to get the email to go through.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  Anyone else have this issue?  Specifically we are traveling from Birmingham, AL to Selma, AL.  There is nothing he is doing to his phone causing the issue and it is not the email account as we have other users on the Verizon network in the area that do not have the problem, though they do not travel that route.
I would GREATLY appreciate hearing from anyone as Verizon customer service at the local store claims they have never heard of the issue.

  • Email settings fault

I have three email addresses set up on my phone, (instantemail.t-mobile, ntlworld and gmail) which have worked for a few months without problem.  Today, went to change an email password in email set up, and the screen said checking for updates, initialising application, then displayed a license screen, which i accepted (why not?) and t then wiped all three accounts.  Support said I had accidentally create a new blackberry account (dont think i did).
They reset everything, but later in the day i tried to enter the email settings menu (clicking settings\email settings) and the same thing happened.  This time i tried to back out instead of accepting the prosumer agreement, but too late, all gone.
Called support again and he confirmed that the phone had wiped its imei and pincode from m yblackberry account.  Once he had reinstalled it all, it was fine.  Told me not to touch the icon again, but unfortunately the gmail account on the website access said i needed to activate contact synchronisation by opening email settings.  He told me to do it, and it instantly wiped off all three accounts.
No idea whats going on, offered to swap the phone, but i cant until i return from a business trip at th end of the month.   I have recently updated the OS via desktop manager (it told me too, i was happy with the existing one!) but support said this wasnt the issue.  I think maybe the new OS has a bug?
Anyone else experienced this or do you have a fix?   I dont need to desparately go into the settings but its a bit bad when you darent touch the icons in case they mess the phone up.
All thoughts appreciated (except derogatory ones of course!)

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It may be that the on-device Email setup app has a problem...its happened. But, the latest KB on the matter applies only to OS6...I don't know if the recommended work arounds are valid for OS7 devices or not:
KB26055 BlackBerry smartphone is unable to access the Email Setup Application after auto-updating
As an alternative, you can avoid the on-device email setup app completely by using, from a PC/browser, your carriers BIS website:

  • Connecting to email settings

    Hello
Ever since this morning my Blackberry 9300 hasn't received any mail. I have two accounts set up on it, a Gmail account and my work webmail account.
If I try to go into the email settings, I get message: 'connecting to email settings' and an hour glass and eventually 'your device has a problem connecting to the server'.
I have tried on both the WIFI at work and the Virgin Media mobile network.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

There have been some intermittent internet outages worldwide the past day or so (NOT caused by RIM this time).  Your carrier may have been victim to that.  I'd suggest you wait until morning and try again.  If you still can't get anywhere, let us know then and we'll try some of our magic.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Scanfront 300 Email Settings

I've got a Canon ScanFront 300 scanner that can scan to email but it requires an SMTP server address to send the mail.  I have tried all methods below:- Authentication Method: (SMTP, POP before SMTP, SMTP (LOGIN), SMTP (PLAIN), SMTP (CRAM-MD5) tried each but no luck) In each case I provided my [email protected] account name and password for authentication but no joy. I've also tried all settings in the document https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en but to no avail.
I get messages such as 530 5.7.0 must issue a starttls command first plus other messages depending on what option I select.  I think this is based around using SSL or TTS but the scanner does not have any tick boxes for this (unless I'm looking in the wrong place - but I've been though all menus)
Has anyone had joy with this product and sending email via gmail ?
    Any help/pointers appreciated.

  • Help, Redirector not working, Email settings greyed out

This was working. I had everything set up and then I can only assume last weekend when I installed and update from MS it cancelled everything.
Now when I open the Desktop Manager, my email settings are greyed out, I can't sync my messages or calendar. When I click on it, it says, "Email settings are not available without an online connection to your messaging system." When I go to sychronize and try to configure it, there is no Outlook user profile to choose from. I have added another user profile in outlook and tried again, but there are still no profiles to choose from in the dropdown menu.
Also, when I open up Redirector, I get the message. "Could bot start the Redirector: the connection to your messaging system could not be initialized".
I know these are both related, there is something I'm forgetting. I have went through the forums and tried several things that appear to be the same, but none have worked. Anyone have a suggestion?
I don't know that it matters, but I've got a Bold and using Outlook 2007.

Hi again, I have reinstalled the DM 5.0 & chose the BES type installation even though I am not using that. This enable me to use the Redirector properly again
Interesting...FWIW -- Redirector is pretty much designed strictly for Enterprise users (MS Exchange, Notes, etc.) whose firms do not host an internet facing interface to their corporate email (OWA, POP, etc.). Redirector is designed for those users to leave a client PC running, inside of the corporate network, with their email client (Outlook) running all the time. The redirector interfaces with the client and manages the communication (via the internet connection from their firm) with their single BB.
BIS is designed as the interface for normal internet-facing email accounts. With BIS, there is no need for the redirector since BIS, hosted at your carrier, interfaces directly with your email server (GMail, Yahoo, etc.) and manages the link between them and your BB (for email only).
Since your PC client is interfacing, across the internet, to your email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), then BIS can do the same thing -- they are both, quite simply, IMAP/POP client interfaces to such servers...
Anyway, if you want to rid yourself of the desktop redirector, then you might want to consider BIS for internet-facing email interface to your BB.

    Just my thoughts...

  • Email Settings Help Needed!

    Hi there,
I am trying to access the email settings -- the username/password is forgotten. I have 4 user name options. I type them in one by one and requested the password to be sent to my device. One of the worked and the password arrived.
I then typed in each one carefully with the password that was sent but I keep getting the notice that the information I provided is not correct.
Is there any way to reset this?
I've tried to go through my phone provider but they can't help and it's impossible to get help through blackberry. I'm ready to switch phones. Please help! All I'm trying to do is set up gmail on my phone but cant do that without the email settings username/password.
    Your help is appreciated!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It is unfortunate that you are so upset with others over the fact that YOU have forgotten the password that YOU created. BBs remain the most secure devices available, but the user plays a very critical role in that security, and there is only so much the device can to to help you without violating the very security upon which the BB brand is built.
Given what you describe, it is difficult to be certain about exactly which password you are having troubles with. Saying "Email Settings" implies your BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) account...but for your carrier to deny helping you does not make sense, since they actually are the entity that controls that very account, and only they can do anything to reset it for you. Maybe the person you reached simply does not understand things, and perhaps you need to be shifted to their dedicated BB support folks instead of their general level 1 folks.
Further, not being able to "get help through blackberry" also makes no sense...your carrier has the ability (indeed, the responsibility!) to escalate your case to BlackBerry if your carrier cannot help you. There indeed is no direct path for you to try and reach BlackBerry independently for support, and this is completely in keeping with the support contracts to which all parties are bound. Refer:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Social-Lounge/How-This-Site-and-Formal-Support-Work/td-p/2540...
It is also confusing that you say you have 4 options...BIS credentials are just one set of credentials, an ID and a password...I do not understand how there can be 4 options for this. Further, you say that one of your requests for receipt of the password to the device was successful...this is also contradictory to how this works; for security reasons, those password reset emails are NOT forwarded to the device, and must be retrieved via other means to access that particular email account.
Lastly, is this perhaps your BBID credentials rather than your BIS credentials? Depending on what you have configured on your device, it could be either. If it is BBID, then refer:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
Good Luck and let us know!

  • Nokia 8600 Luna- No email settings in the US

I am a Tmobile customer in the US and I just bought the US version of the Nokia Luna. In "Messaging", there is no "email settings". I have contacted Nokia, who said that they would get back to me and I have contacted Tmobile who said that they have nothing to do with this. The phone works fine (except that it can't even connect with the gmail application). I just need any advice. I have tried many things. I don't believe there is a software update that would help me. This is so frustrating. There is also an "internal module error" when I try to use "Nokia Software Updater".

If that is a GSM phone, but I don't think it is(might be CDMA), there's a Nokia site for downloading setup for that(MMS,WAP, email etc).

I currently live in kenya and have a nokia 3250 which i activated for gprs from one of the local service provider. I tried to enter the email settings to be sending and receiving emails from my gmail account. I was then only able to send but could not check my mail. After trying to connect to my mailbox a message appeared on the screen for me to confirm my user name and password (even though i had entered the correct ones ). I tried to get a yahoo account but still experience the same problem. Will you please help me get the right settings. Or is there a problem with my accounts
