Emails on 3GS

I have a talktalk email account but cannot send emails from my iphone 3GS! Help!!!!

*I've just completed a restore of my iPhone software from a previous backup and my email now appears to be working properly. Hoorah!*
PLEASE NOTE: If, like me, you've put all your apps in carefully organised folders please make sure you've made a backup of these settings as (as happened to me) when you restore your iPhone software these folders might not restore and you'll have to create them all again. Doh!

IPhone searching yet get email on 3gs

I have been having trouble lately with my 3gs. It searches and when I have bars (sometimes 5!) it still doesn't connect with my call. Just says "calling..." I get email though. And people tell me when they call me it goes directly to voicemail.

Hi all,
I am having issues trying to send emails from my iphone.
My account is set up correctly and i can receive emails with no issues.
I have re entered my password but with no luck.
Can someone please suggest how i can fix this?
Its an hotmail email account if that helps.

Have you ever been able to send from the iPhone? Is this on Edge, 3G, Wi-Fi. Does it work on either one or neither of them? Try going to Settings>General>Reset> Reset Network Settings. No data will be lost only passwords and settings for Wi-Fi network you have connected to on the iPhone.
Also go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap on your Hotmail account. Then go to Account Info>Tap on SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server and turn on all under "Other SMTP Servers".
One of these should resolve the issue.

Deleting emails fromiPhone 3GS

I have 3 email accounts linked to my iPhone, but when I try to delete the emails on my phone (from my hotmail account), it automatically retrieves older messages, I now have 365 emails on my iPhone (all of which need to be marked as read). My phone never used to do this and it has only happened since I was prompted to do an upgrade. ny help with advice how to stop this would be gratefully received.

Hi, sorry to be a pain but this is so complicated for me! I have done what you suggested and set up IMAP so hotmail is now Exchange however, I am now unable to access any stored emails in other folders in hotmail. Ie folder listed as 'banking' is showing up on Exchange but the folder is empty as are all the others. Is there a way I can transfer the contents of these folders from hotmail (viewed on laptop0 to Exchange on iPhone. Failing this I would need to go back to previous settings as I need to access these other folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tested iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. Both having all iCloud features enabled and with push email.
iPhone 3GS by iTunes restore method and iPhone 4 by OTA.
I didn't find any difference in the battery life of 3GS but significant drain in iPhone 4.
We jus keep on blaming Apple for no reasons . If you follow these tips, it will definitely make huge difference in the battery life!. It made a significant difference for me on all the devices I own irrespective of the subversions of iOS 5.
I have select push notifications on both the devices and they're connected to 3G when outside home and WiFi when at home.
Backup and restore (If possible)
Firstly, I let the iPhone discharge down to 10% battery (charge it later to 100% without disturbing) jus to calibrate it and I did "Reset Location Warnings", "Reset Network Settings" and after that "Reset All Settings"
After the welcome setup, I turned off location services for (in system services) :
1. Diagnostics and Usage
2. Location based iAds
3. Setting Time Zone
- Turned off notification sounds for some apps which are not that important.
- Decreased the brightness down to 40% coz it is favorable for me, your choice to keep it lil low. (with auto-brightness)
- Bluetooth is always off (It is turned ON by default when we do "Reset All Settings")
- Auto Lock is 1 Minute.
- Here I experimented by turning off calenders in iCloud (which made moderate difference in the standby).
- Kept push email ON only for 1 account and manually fetching the other accounts (As per your preference and priority). I have even experimented on removing and setting up email accounts once again.
- When I open the app which has location based services, it now asks me whether to allow location or not, so even here as per preference, I selected "Yes/No" as per requirement. (Permissions asked after "Reset Location Warnings")
- I also turned off location-based weather coz it constantly keeps on using location frequently and even data to keep on updating it the frequently, so moderate drain)
I also follow these tips :
1. Turn off all the background apps when not required.
2. Turned off push notifications for the apps which I don't really require.
3. Turn off iTunes Ping from Restrictions.
4. Text alerts to be kept as minimum.
5. Turn off automatic downloads (For me, it is sheer waste of bandwidth)
6. In wi-fi settings (Turn off "Ask to Join Networks") why not select it manually if you want to save enough juice for the whole day?
Now I get a sufficient battery life for more than a day and it works like a charm.

Hello,
It seems that you can't activate a hypertext link in a pdf document via Iphone Email Reader (3GS/4 ios5.11).
As i open it in IBooks, the Hypertext Links are activated and do operate.
Is that "normal" ?

I can't find any reference to a similar bug, and I've never seen this before. However, 3.0 is now a desupported version, so the best advice I can give would be to move to 6i, apply the latest patch, and if you still see the issue then contact support.

Have an iphone 3GS, 2 email accounts. My work email account used to work. Now if I send any emails from this account it only appears in my sent box. Recipients internal and external do not receive. IT person cannot figure why occurring. Any insight?

This has nothing to do with your iPhone.
If a message is in the account's Sent mailbox, this means the message was successfully sent. If a message cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox.
What happens to a message after it was successfully sent has nothing to do with the email client or computer/device used to send the message.

ICloud emails sent from apple mail or iPhone 3gs never arrives, works fine when sent from iCloud website

The ony place I have been able to send and receive email since the launch of iCloud has been the icloud website. I wasn't able to send email from my iphone 3gs or apple mail at all until today, now it finally appears to let me send email but it never arrives to its destination.
I can send an email from the icloud website without issue, and email sent from my icloud account using my iphone 3gs and apple mail seems to send fine and without error but who knows where it goes.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I figured out how to fix it... if anyone else has this problem, go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts > select the IMAP account > Advanced > Folders and for "Store Sent Messages in this Folder:" select "Sent Messages (Server)."

I can't access email from my iPhone 3gs since changing email password

ISP Bigpond Cable
I can't access my email from my iPhone 3GS.
This is an iPhone problem, not an ISP problem.
I know this because I can access my email from both my laptop and webmail.
This is occurring here at home via my WiFi network and also a few kilometres away via 3G.
This morning I had to change the password on my Bigpond Cable internet email account.
Whenever I try to access email from my phone I receive the following error:
"Cannot Get Mail"
"The user name or password for "**** *****" is incorrect."
There are two buttons, one captioned Settings the other OK.
Both the user name and password are correct. This happened perhaps 4 or 5 times in the 6+ years I was with Internode and has happened a couple of times in the 20 months that I've been on Bigpond Cable.
I have re-entered my email account and connection details multiple times to no avail.
I have tried deleting the account, then rebooting my phone and creating a new account, but that didn't work.
I tried deleting the account, turning the phone completely off, waiting one minute and then after turning it back on, creating a new account but that didn't work.
I know I am entering the correct settings because before I deleted the account the first time, I took a series of screen captures from the Settings App and I also have the settings from MS Outlook to refer to.
Its as though somewhere in the phone, the old email password is being stored and being used instead of the new one, but I don't know where that could be except in the Settings app, "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and that is where I am entering the new password.
The only solutions to this problem I found by searching are those that I have already tried and haven't worked for me.
Reverting to the old password is not an option. My account was compromised by Malware, hence the password change and a complete scan of my laptop.
Any ideas?

The problem was resolved by erasing the entire contents of my phone and then restoring it, setting it up as a new phone.

I have a iPhone 3GS and my husband has the iPhone 4 , both phones with updated current . We added iMessage to them at first it was great, now I don't get half the texts my husbands send and when I send him a text message it will come up from my email???

We added iMessage the them both and at first it was great, the messages appear in the text messages under the phone contacts and when I send a text message it will either be a green message or a blue one for (iMessage) depending on the signal. Now when my husband sends a text message to me I don't get them all or some days none. When I send him a text message he gets them from my email address. I cannot send him a standard text anymore my phone only wants to iMessage, so if the signal is not right it just sits there undelivered???
I also have a friend who that we regularly texted each other, for the past 4 months I can receive her texts but she never gets mine? And I have tried countless times, now iv given up trying and I don't use texting to either, but everyone else no problem.

You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that. Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card. Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud. Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account. To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate.

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages. If everything looks good then the next step would be to remove the accounts and add them back in. I have an iPhone 3GS and in the past 2 days I've gotten 5 emails saying that someone has logged in to my apple ID from an iphone 3gs using iMessage...

So, yes I do have an iPhone 3gs and yes it might be me who logs in bla bla bla, point is... I have not used iMessage as I don't know how to. Also, I have not logged into my Apple ID account through it as I have not been asked to log in, nor have I downloaded any Apps lately that would require me to put my login info into my phone.
I tried fixing this yesterday by changing my password, which I did, but I keep getting said emails... how can I stop those emails or how can I make it so that I don't log into iMessage (whatever that is).
I've texted a couple of friends since yesterday, but all of them have standard non-smart-phones...

Ok so... iMessages sole purpose is to be a sort of "messenger" between iOS products right? There's nothing more to it? By that I mean... now that I turned it off, will it have any repercussions on any other apps or functions in my iPhone?

I just upgraded to ios 6 on my iphone 3gs and I noticed on a couple of incoming emails that the images and information are not being displayed. There is a blue square box with a blue question mark inside. I already tried to press the home key and power key to restart. The email still does not display correctly. I went on my laptop to retrieve that same email and I was able to see the graphics and information, so the problem is on the iphone. I received two emails like this, so I'm missing all the important information. I also tried to retrieve my email through the internet browser and I still have the same problem. Any suggestions? I forgot to mention that I have an Ipad 2 also and I can view the email information on there also. I received an email from Party city and it said to click here to print out the coupon. So I click the coupon and there is the little blue box with the question mark. This is the first time I've seen this happen, as I have printed out the coupons before. Maybe it has to do with the IOS6 update, because this just started to happen right after the update.

Why can't I open videos in my emails on Iphone 3gs

I cannot open videos on my iphone 3gs sent in my emails. It will appear to start to open then stop.
It continually shows the message "0 time remaining on download". In some cases it will not even
show the video square to click on to open, but no problem on my computer with the same sent
video. Advice please.
