Encore web DVD "hidden video assets" ?

is it possibe to create a  encore web DVD with "hidden video assets" ? (like they used to using Director?)
so the end user would just insert the dvd rom, and lauch an html file but would not see the video assets ?

it would be to prevent copying of individual f4v files. it used to be common in director hiding quicktime files.
i guess the better way now would be to host the flash/videos on a protected webpage and sell timed access. (unfortunalty, that comes with a learning curve to put into effect.)
but the origianl thought was to offer the product as DVD or On Demand Streaming or Digital Download -  and if a user chooses Digital Download i have to have a delivery format

  • Encore web dvd and lightroom slideshow in muse?

    I'm new to the whole process of creating a website but very curious about muse and business catalyst.
    Can I bring a web-dvd (created in Encore) and/or a slideshow/web gallerie (created in Lightroom) into muse? Maybe someone can explain the process to me.
    It woud help promote my work as a filmmaker and vfx compositor.

    I haven't personally ever created a "web-dvd" from Encore, but created this sample website and explanation for how Lightroom and Muse can be used together to publish photo galleries from lightroom and a website from Muse to the same hosting. Perhaps it will be helpful.
    Websites published to Business Catalyst via Muse are accessible via FTP so your Muse site can contain both the uploaded Muse content and uploaded galleries from Lightroom (or HTML/CSS/JavaScript uploaded from other tools).
    If the site name is lightroomexample.businesscatalyst.com, then the FTP credentials for the site are:
    server: lightroomexample.businesscatalyst.com
    user: lightroomexample.businesscatalyst.com/<your Adobe ID>
    password: <your Adobe ID password>
    The default FTP settings in Lightroom work fine. By default Lightroom places all the uploaded files in a "photos" subfolder on the site, so by default the root of the uploaded gallery would be at http://lightroomexample.businesscatalyst.com/photos/index.html. If you want to upload multiple separate galleries you could put each in its own subfolder.
    URL hyperlinks can be used to establish links from Lightroom galleries to pages created by Muse and/or from Muse pages to Lightroom galleries.
    I’ve create an example Muse site that contains two Lightroom galleries at http://lightroomexample.businesscatalyst.com.
    IMPORTANT: One word of caution. When working with FTP (via an FTP client, Lightroom upload, etc.) you’ll want to take special care to limit your changes to only the files uploaded by Lightroom.  Overwriting, updating or deleting files uploaded by Muse or files that are part of the Business Catalyst platform would cause problems for the Muse content on your site (either immediately, or in the future as Muse adds support for Business Catalyst features). It could also cause problems for subsequent uploads of the Muse site.  If you’re working from Lightroom, you’re safe as long as the content uploaded by Lightroom is placed in a subdirectory of the main site and the subdirectory name doesn’t match one used by Muse or BC.  (At present Muse and BC use folders with names: css, image, scripts, stylesheets, Layouts and Templates. Avoid those names and all should be fine. If in doubt, use an FTP client or the Lightroom "Browse" button for "Server Path" in the FTP Server settings to see what folders already exist and make sure to use a new folder for your Lightroom gallery.)
    This same approach can be used with an FTP client to upload other files you might want to make available from your site (i.e. PDFs). Use an FTP client to create a new folder within your site. Upload the files to the new folder.  Then link to the files from within Muse using URL links. In a future update we'll provide an easy way to manage the upload and linking to auxillary files directly within Muse, but until then it can be accomplished using FTP tools outside of Muse and URL hyperlinks.

  • Loop a video asset in Encore CS5

    I need to be able to add over 100 short video assets to a project and have each video play continuously until the next button it hit on a remote which will advance to the next video in the list. Is this possible? I need each video to loop as it will play at an event and we don't know how long the video will need to play until we need to advance to the next section/video. Last time I had to do this I just repeated the video clip for a really long time so that we would be ensured that it would not advance to the next video, But I feel sure there is a better way to do this.

    What you need is scripting, which Encore does not provide.
    I would play with putting each video on its own timeline. Use multiple menus to branch. Use 4:3 menus even if the videos are 16:9, so you can get more buttons on a screen. You cou ld try making them black so they might not jar with the different aspect ratio of the videos. Use very short transitions and/or motion on the menus to make the menu appearance less disruptive. (Trade off with number of menus re the 1 gig limit for menus.)
    For many of the videos, you are now 2 clicks away: click one "menu" (the menu option that will take you to the previous menu), then use the remotge control numbers to select the next track.
    When submenu 1 is exhausted, you go back to main menu (title menu), and select submenu 2.
    Yes, the operator must know what they are doing.

  • Several video assets for DVD Studio Pro 4, Compressor question??

    I have several video assets for my DVD, they include motion menus, video tracks etc. When I go into Compressor and process each video asset, do I choose a preset according to that clips individual video length, or do I choose a preset based upon total running time of the DVD?
    As always thanks in advance for your time in reading and replying to my Post,
    Sebastian

    If you go into your Presets Window, and select the pulldown arrow, you will see in detail what preset you need to use.
    For example: DVD Best Quality 90 Minutes 4:3 is MPEG2, 6.2mbps, 2 Pass, 4:3
    Then to the right it will say "Fits up to 90 minutes of video with AIFF for audio.
    Don't even use the presets unless you have like a ton of footage.
    But you can get about 80 or more minutes of footage encoded based off of these settings.
    Just make a New Preset and type in the following..
    New-MPEG2, then double click the Untitled MPEG-2
    Video Format Tab - Choose your video settings, rest at default.
    Quality Tab - 2 Pass VBR, 7.0 average, 7.4 max, Best
    Rest at default.
    If you have 80 or so minutes maximum, these are fine.
    You should be good.
    If you have more, then just drop the bitrate accordingly.
    Once you get to 6.5, Compressor starts showing its ugly face.

  • How to use a Web-DVD

    Hello,
    what are the options for a web dvd?
    Can i add a video on a website (or youtube/vimeo) where you can click on an option within the video, just like a real dvd with an menu.
    thank you!
    Simon

    The Encore DVD to flash option does not lend itself to non-flash options - conversion to HTML5 video formats. If you are content with flash, that is one option.

  • Placing button on a video asset rather than menu asset?

    Is it possible in iDVD to place a button on a video asset rather than a menu asset?
    Is it possible to have "invisible" buttons (ie a button with no associated subpicture).
    I'd like to be able to have an invisible button present during a chapter on a DVD so that if you push the "enter" button on your DVD remote, it jumps to a hidden track.
    If it can't be done directly, is there a work-around using myDVDedit to post-edit the encoded DVD?
    Thanks.

    Nice solution! I'll do that... note the highlight colour will also need to be the same as the background colour to make it invisible in both selected and unselected states.
    Now, as to "a button with no associated subpicture" - a subpicture is the onscreen bitmaps that the DVD player keys into the video to illustrate a button in its unselected and selected states. Subpictures are created by the DVD authoring program when the buttons are placed and defined.
    A button with no subpicture is an invisible button, ie there is no onscreen feedback as to whether the button is selected or not, or even whether it exists. It is simply a rectangular screen area of some defined size that has DVD navigation commands attached to it. It will still act like any other button if you "select" it by using arrow navigation keys then press "Enter", and it will take you to whatever you've linked.
    One of the best examples I've seen is in the recent R.E.M. DVD collection of their early IRS clips. The clip for "Radio Free Europe" is just one big invisible button that fills the whole frame for the entire clip. If you press "Enter" while it is playing, you jump to the original version of that video, stored as a Menu object (and not a Title or Chapter, hence not accessible using the DVD player's Disc Navigation menu).
    Neat.

  • .MP4 in timeline of Adobe Encore CS6 (DVD)

    Hey there,
    I have created my DVD menu with an mp4 inside the timeline of my Encore project...
    I contacted support and they told me that most recent DVD players can support this file..
    I am wondering if anyone has experience with this case.. Do most DVD players support this?
    Is there a way that encore can transcode the mp4 into m2v for me without having to link everything back together with a new PP export?
    The reason I had to use the mp4 is because my m2v had poor quality in some parts..
    It takes a long time when dealing with a 2hour video!
    Any tips, tricks or info is appreciated, thank you very much in advance!
    - Mario

    If you are making a DVD (rather than a bluray), Encore is going to transcode your mp4 into an m2v and an audio file (pcm or a3c depending on your project settings).
    When your m2v file is not good quality, you need to fix that, not use an mp4. But see what you get. Look in the project panel and find the "DVD Transcode Settings" column. What does it say for your mp4?
    I have created my DVD menu with an mp4 inside the timeline of my Encore project...
    I don't know what you did. My assumption is that you have a video asset in your Encore project (an mp4). That video was used to create a timeline. You have linked a button on your menu to the timeline.  Is that it?.

  • Web DVD subtitle default

    Does anyone know of a way to set the subtitle language from javascript with a web DVD exported from Encore? I have managed to sort of hack around it by creating duplicates of the title display items and appending their id with the language code (like id='1es'), but it would be a heck of a lot nicer to be able to do a direct call from javascript instead. However, I can't seem to find any documentation on the flashvars that can be passed in to the player.

    No javascript. I used the fact that if there is only one subtitle in a DisplayItem, the player automatically plays it. In the interest of helping out anyone else who might run into this situation, here is a brief description of the changes made to make it work.
    My project has been translated into 14 languages. Each language has its own translated copy of the menus. The desired language is selected from the first play (title) menu.
    Here is a snippet of one of the copies of the Main menu:
       <DisplayItem id='14' name='MainMenu (vietnamese)' type='menu'>
        <Media type='video' startTime='0' src='Sources/_PGC_CApgc_1.f4v' loops='infinite' looppoint='0' duration='29.629'/>
        <ButtonList button='Sources/_PGC_CApgc_1.f4v' default='1' down='Sources/_PGC_CApgc Ba_1.png' over='Sources/_PGC_CApgc Bs_1.png'>
            <Button index='1' name='Play'>
                <Bounds top='200' left='116' width='57' height='30'/>
                <Action type='DisplayItem' target='1vi' mediaIndex='1'/>
            </Button>
            <Button index='2' name='Giá»›i thiệu'>
                <Bounds top='240' left='129' width='100' height='22'/>
                <Action type='DisplayItem' target='1vi' mediaIndex='1'/>
            </Button>
            <Button index='3' name='Xin chà o'>
                <Bounds top='263' left='128' width='89' height='18'/>
                <Action type='DisplayItem' target='1vi' mediaIndex='2'/>
            </Button>
    Notice that the target for the <Button><Action> is 1vi, where Encore named it 1.
    Now, a bit of the DisplayItem that the above menu points to:
           <DisplayItem id='1vi' name='ee_disc1' type='title'>
            <Timeline name='ee_disc1' subtitleTrackCount='14'>
                <Subtitle name='Subtitle 13:' language='Vietnamese' src='Sources/ee_disc1_subtitle_13.xml'/>
            </Timeline>
    <!-- Chapter 1 -->
            <Media src='Sources/_PGC_Bpgc_entryPoint_Bbp_1.f4v' name='Chapter 1' xmpFile='Sources/_PGC_Bpgc_entryPoint_Bbp_1.xml' type='video' startTime='0' duration='111.544'/>
    <!-- Hello -->
            <Media src='Sources/_PGC_Bpgc_entryPoint_IAbp_1.f4v' name='Hello' xmpFile='Sources/_PGC_Bpgc_entryPoint_IAbp_1.xml' type='video' startTime='0' duration='137.137'/>
    This is a copy of the <DisplayItem id='1'...> that Encore created, which originally had all 14 subtitles referenced in it (that I can't seem to select via javascript). By making a copy of it for each language, appending the language code to the id to give it a unique name, and removing all but one subtitle reference (the one for the viewer's chosen language), I can choose the appropriate copy from a particular translated menu. Since there is only one subtitle reference in the DisplayItem, the player automatically plays it. Voila! I have subtitles chosen from my menus instead of requiring the user to go to the player's subtitle menu to choose.
    All of that is really easy to do, but has a couple of drawbacks.
    1) My project is fairly large, so it was a bit of a pain to make the hacks
    2) This technique kills the full subtitle listing in the swf's subtitle menu. The only choice a viewer has is to choose subtitles on/off. That isn't really too bad in this case, though. I can imagine cases where I would definitely like to be able to leave all language options open while choosing one of them via javascript, though.
    So, hopefully that helps someone else who might have faced a similar problem.

  • Encore authored DVD displaying wrong audio track language info

    Authored a number of DVDs using Encore CS6. Some play fine and some show incorrect audio track language info when played back on a DVD player even though they are programmed correctly and the same as the ones playing correctly. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what was the fix?

    Hi,
    Can you please add some detail to "incorrect audio track language info when played back on a DVD player even though they are programmed correctly" - what exactly is the error you get - do you get any audio playback?
    And how are the discs "programmed" - do you have multiple audio tracks, for example English and Spanish?
    Please let us know the normal workflow you use to create a DVD. Does it use Dynamic Link from Premiere to Encore, do you encode assets first, how do you make DVDs? Video and audio source formats?
    Screen grabs can be very helpful to show settings used at various stages.
    Thank you

  • Invalid video asset

    Hi everybody,
    I have this error message when burning a DVD...
    I believe it could be a codec issue, but I am not sure how to solve it...
    Does anybody know how could I fix that?
    Thanks a lot!

    Settings: dv-pal 100% quality progressive 4:3
    Exactly, I played it before and works fine, besides it works fine with the simulator in DVDSP...
    It starts burning and after around 2 hours (the disc meter shows 2.4GB) it stops and gives the error message: track 1 (that is the only one I have): invalid video asset...
    I hope not to omit more info to you, I really appreciate all your posts!!
    I don´t get what is going on...

  • DVD encoded video and audio progressively get out of sync

    Hi Compressor professionados,
    I've been trying to finalise a DVD I’m creating but keep having the same show-stopping problem where I just can't get the timing of the audio and video right after encoding it to MPEG-2/ac3 for DVD Studio Pro. When I lay it into the track in DVDSPro it plays fine at the start of the track but as the clip gets longer the audio and video gets further and further out of sync, by a few seconds (eg. for over 1 hour length footage).
    I've seen similar posts online about timing issues with Compressor but nothing I saw has hit the nail on the head for me. I also posted my problem on Creative Cow but didn't get the help I needed to fix my problem.
    Here's the specs:
    FCPro X 10.1.4
    Video project: 1080i (@ 25i)
    Audio 44.1 kHz
    Render: Apple ProRes 422
    Length: 01:13:05:02
    Compressor 4.1.3
    MPEG-2 Setting (only what I think is important... or I don't know)
    Format: Elementary Stream
    Stream Usage: DVD
    Retiming: Set duration to: 100% (shows 01:13:05:02)
    Video Frame Rate: Auto (25fps)
    Field Order: Same as Source
    GOP: greyed out at 12
    ac3:
    Sample rate: 48kHz (the only choice)
    Data rate: 224 kbps
    DVD Studio Pro 4.2.1
    PAL DVD-9 project
    From FCP I send my project to Compressor and when I drop both a DVD Audio and Video codec onto it they both show as Retiming 100% (and the length looks the same) but the results are still unsynchronised at the end of the clip when they are placed into the Track in DVDSPro. I've also tried changing different settings, like MPEG-2 Retiming duration to "So source frames play at 25 fps", but I'm still having troubles.
    At one point I managed to get the A/V timing right for my track and I then ran what I thought was the same settings for all my other tracks in the DVD but they ended up with a similar outa-sync problem so I deleted everything to try again and realised I'd deleted my good files. And I just can't seem to replicate it again. I’m not sure if it was an accidental mistake that worked or I hit on the right settings. Either way, it shouldn’t be this hard to get it right, for heaven's sake!!!
    Also, strangely, when I open the MPEG-2 file in QuickTime Player (10.4) it shows 01:10:30 long but if I open the same file in QuickTime Pro 7 it shows as the correct 1:13:05. And DVD Studio Pro shows 01:13:05:02 for both the audio & video assets but their sync is still out at the end.
    This problem stopped me from producing the DVD last Christmas and I tried to pick it up again to give it to the family for this Christmas but ended up having to bail yet again - not impressed!!!
    I'm hoping it's a simple solution of getting the settings right but it may also be a bug! Apparently, my bro-in-law has had similar problems and has ditched the DVD route altogether. I already have all of my menus etc. set up and I'd hate to have to ditch all that hard work.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Brett

    Thanks so much Russ & Tom!
    It was as easy as changing the sample rate in the FCP project from 44.1 to 48 and sending it to Compressor again. I think it was set to 44.1 because I had the project set to automatically assign the parameters from the first video dropped into it. I haven't checked yet but the audio from my camera is likely 44.1.
    It would be nice if Compressor produced a warning message when you set the codec up for DVD audio that the original is set to a different sample rate & may cause timing problems when resampled to 48kHz.
    Anyway, again THANKS lads for solving what has been a year long problem for me and now I can complete my Christmas project, albeit late!
    Virtual chocolates to you both!!!

  • Why won't menus work or show when web DVD is uploaded to Revel ?

    I need to be able to upload  and share privately a web DVD with functionl menu system. I have created several for test and tried to upload to different hosts including Adobe Revel, the video upload will play, but does not show a menu. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the reply.
    If you get a chance, could you post a link to one of those web tutorials relating to webDVD and its applications. Did it actually suggest
    that Adobe Revel would support webDVD?
    I have had my issues with Adobe Revel even taking webDVD out of the equation.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/10/pe12-adobe-revel-add-mediapublishshare.html
    I have not revisited the topic since October 2013 and Premiere Elements 12.
    I will keep watch for webDVD and Premiere Elements. Since webDVD is one of the features removed from Premiere Elements 13 and photoshop.com has not been around for a long time for sharing it, I am not sure how that will affect interest in the feature moving forward.

    thank you, veronica

    hi thanks,
    i'm now trying all sorts. with a quicktime file created directly from quicktime exports on fcp or an mpeg 2 exported with quicktime conversion the same thing happened. i import the QT/Mpeg file onto the DSP project and the sound comes through, but the video file imports only 2 minutes. cant figure it out.
    when i open the QT file it IS all there!

    There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.
    if you have any ?'s just reply back
    I hope this helps!
