Epson Perfection 2400 Scanner issue with Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 Update

After the Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 update, my scanner quit working with Image
Capture, which hangs during the overview scan. The scanner makes a pass over
the document, but Image Capture just sits for a while saying "Overview Scan..."
and then fails with a generic error message.
I tried the suggestion in [11993273|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11993273&#11993273 ], but that did not work for me.
Any other ideas?

It is not straight-forward to uninstall the driver because Apple installer
does not offer an uninstall option. I resorted to
sudo find /Library -iname "epson" -print -exec mv {} ~/Desktop/epson \;
in the terminal. Reboot. Ran EPSONPrinterDrivers.pkg. Ran Disk Utility's
Repair Permissions. Reboot. Added scanner back in the System Preferences.
Opened Image Capture, the overview scan started and a few minutes later
*Scanner reported and error*
An error occured during scanning.

What type of troubleshooting were we able to do with you? I want to make sure that we can get some sort of resolution for this problem.
It is quite possible the battery door may get your phone in working order again. I'm not sure if the store has it in stock, but it is available in our warehouse for $14.99 which can be ordered via customer service.

Issue with any printer driver on 2008 R2

I have this issue, which is rather strange.
It all started when suddenly a few computers on our domain couldn't see printers in the catalogue on our old win 2003 print server when they did a search, that issue stopped by it self, but none the less, it was there. Then a few weeks later, when any
given end user wanted to add any given printer via the catalogue search it wouldn't install the driver we've provided and that had worked for so long before that, and when the installer would do is to start looking on Windows update for the driver to use,
but it would fail.
Due to that we have a Windows 2008 R2 server enviroment on our domain I took this oppertunity to upgrade the print server and manually (for a temporarly use only) add the printers via their IP add. for te users that need to print daily, which
has been no problem at all with installing/getting to print/Work.
Now the really strange thing is that now that I have added the new domain print server 2008 R2 this issue withstands!? I can clearly see the list of printers in the catalogue that I made, but I still get the issue where the installation tries to get the
driver via Windows Update.
On the Network we use Xerox 7665 with a PCL rev 2.0 driver, HP 2015n, HP 2020, 2025n printer that use Universial PCL 5.2 driver (tried with 6.0 as well, same issue). HP 4700 that has its correct driver as well.
Can anyone here tell me where the issue might be at? Remember this big issue is that it cannot install any given printer on any given end user and it always tries to get the driver from Windows Update.
Also, end users have Windows 7 x86 and x64 versions installed. No XP, No Windows 8.
I hope someone here can help me, because my Google search gives me nothing... And normally Google and I are so good friends resolving issues ><

Seems like a common issue please try this. Please take a registry backup first.
This
is a very common error found in environments that use Windows 2003 32bit print servers , HP printers and 64Bit clients .
This problem may occur because of the following factors :
1 ) The dll Print Processor configured for your printer is not in the Client or Server drivers folder 2
) The Print Processor that the printer uses only installed the 32bit files and does not install the 64Bit version

Issue with HP printer driver

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Book Pro; I also have an HP LaserJet 1022 printer.

...but the printer only prints odd pages (very frustrating). I then downloaded HPPrinter Drivers 2.8.dmg from

...and ran the install script. Document then printed fine yesterday, but today it's back to printing only odd pages. When I go to System Preferences > Print & Fax, it tells me that the printer is bound to the HP LaserJet 1022, 1.3.0.261 driver (which I assume is the one causing the problem) - but I can't find the new driver, downloaded from the Apple support page, to bind the printer to.
Please can someone tell me how to remove the faulty driver, install and *locate* the correct one, and then bind it to the printer? I'm not a tech guru, but I'm willing to learn - please try not to assume too much knowledge on my part!
I expect this question, or similar, may have been asked before as I know the HP-authored driver is recognised as causing this problem, but I haven't found the discussion thread; please accept my apologies for anyone who ends up repeating their advice - it will still be gratefully received!

That is the latest driver for your printer. What program are you printing with that gives you only the odd pages? Does it happen in all programs? Have you checked the settings in the print dialogue?

Incompatibility issue with HP printer driver?

Hello, all. I am running Windows XP SP3 and IE 8 on two computers. My printer is HP Photosmart C4380 All-in-one on a wireless network. I have had a bad week of constant un- and re-installations of HP printer drivers and Adobe Flashplayer, and am wondering if anyone can help me resolve the problem.
The problem started with the installation of Flashplayer 10. I upgraded one of two networked computers with no problem, several days later upgraded the other and suddenly my printer stopped working. Lots of re-installations of the HP software later, I got the printer working again, but then the Adobe software had disappeared on one computer, and on the other it only works on the administrator account, but not on the others. I followed the Adobe support article for resolving a conflict with IE8 and got the Flashplayer reinstalled on the one computer. Now Flashplayer is working again, but I am getting error messages from the printer - usually "printer offline", sometimes "printer disconnected". Sometimes I get printer offline and printer connected (not dis-) simultaneously. When shutting down, I also now get two error messages: Device IO Notification Window and program not responding hpqste08.exe
I haven't tried to address the administrator/guest account problem on the other computer yet. On both computers I am now being invited to update my Adobe Reader, but I'm afraid to start down another path.
Can anyone recommend a solution? I hasten to mention that the HP product has been problematic from the start, but this is the first time it has apparently conflicted with another specific, and rather important, application. I have, of course, contacted them, but no joy as yet.

I would try this link. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/430948?tstart=0 I too have IE8 as well as Firefox 3.5 Beta 4. I also have an HP printer. I would recommend you follow my steps, then after restart, reinstall your hp drivers. This hopefully should fix your problems. (Recommend you do the flash update for both computers using an administrator account.) If it works, then you should be able to update your reader, without complications. (I recommend you install Foxit Reader if you can, and uninstall Adobe reader. Does the same things just uses a lot less resources and a lot less buggy.)

If so where do I get the drivers/software to run it?
I have used it with aquire, but only in flat bed scanning.
I am not able to use the film/slide mode anymore because the software that came with it is for 32 bit macine code.
Any ideas?

I realize this isn't a direct answer to your question, but I have an Epson Perfection 1670 flatbed scanner. I plugged it into a USB port after installing Lion, and it works fine with both the Image Capture and Preview applications. ("FIne", for me - I don't have a need for slide/transparancy scanning. Image Capture recognizes the scanner can do it, giving two modes for transparancy scanning, but in a quick and dirty test a minute ago it didn't seem to work. Since I don't need the capability, I'm not going to struggle with it to see what I've done wrong.)

Problem with Latest Epson Printer Driver Update

I installed the Epson printer driver update that came out today, but it made absolutely no difference. My Epson printer is still using a the same old Epson driver plus Gutenprint. There is no other option. I don't get it. What's the point of installing the update if the printer is still stuck with Gutenprint? My printer (Epson Stylus Photo R340) is supported according to Apple's list.

This seems common with the Epson drivers, there are several posts here with that problem. Some users have had success deleting the printer from Print & Fax Prefs and adding it again using the Epson (non-Gutenprint) driver. Others have had to delete the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON and /Library/Caches/Epson folders, re-download the update, then re-add the printer.
I would try the first one first since it's the easiest and you already have the update installed. If that doesn't work, the second should.

Epson Printer Driver

Since getting a Mac, I haven't been able to print directly onto CD's from my Epson Artisan 835 printer.
I contacted Epson support and was told that I needed to download the Epson Mac printer driver and not the AirPrint driver that comes with Yosemite. They said that this driver is available on the app store but I see absolutely nothing on the store indicating an Epson printer driver.
Has anyone else had this issue and been able to successfully print CD's on an Epson Artisan printer? If so, how did you resolve it?

The Artisan 835 is shown as supported on OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download - Apple Support, so if installing the drivers doesn't work, try using the driver for the 837.

Printing problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16

Has anyone experienced any problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16 through Software Update? I am having problems printing. It denotes an error message, specifically the rastertoescpii.app isn't working?

Oops, wanted everyone to know that the driver that Software Update downloaded and installed was 2.18, not 2.16 (which was the last one that worked for me). I just got done downloading the 2.18 driver directly from the Apple support website and installing it. Guess what? My printer is now working and everything is fine. If you are having issues, I suggest this route. Guess I solved my own problem, but hope this helps someone else.

Epson Printer Driver Update 2.18 and Stylus Photo 1400

My Mac Mini was unable to communicate with my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 printer, after installing the recent Epson Printer Driver Update 2.18. I am running Mac OS 10.7.5. Reinstalling the original driver from the Epson CD got me back on track, but, a test print from the installer did not work without additional software from Apple's servers. Avoid Update 2.18, if you are using similar equipment.

Since updating to EPSON Printer Software Update 2.18, I have not been able to print to my EPSON Stylus DX6000 (under OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard). The printer dialog box says
Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/ MacOs/rastertoescpll failed
Using Time Machine, I restored rastertoescpll.app from a time before I upgraded to the 2.18 drivers, but that didn't work. I then restored the entire EPSON folder from

from a time before I upgraded to the 2.18 drivers, and that still didn't work.
I was not able to find the Update 2.17 on the Apple site, but I was able to find it on the www.techspot.com site.
I downloaded EPSON Printer Software Update 2.17 from

This downloaded EPSONPrinterDrivers2.17.dmg
I dragged the EPSON folder to the Trash, and emptied the Trash. I then ran the installer for the 2.17 drivers. After switching the printer off and on again, I was finally able to print.

Epson Printer Driver v8.31 not showing up on my OSX 10.4.11

When installing a new Epson Printer Driver v8.31 for my Workforce 630 all-in-one printer on my G5 OSX 10.4.11 Power MAC, along with Epson support on the phone, it is not showing up in my Utilities folder. Epson said I needed to contact MAC about changing some settings. The printer was working fine yesterday but not printing today .... like it wasn't there. After trying several things with Epson Support they said I should download the new driver and, as I said, with their guidance it wasn't showing up in my Utilities Folder. When I called MAC Support they referred me here to avoid paying $50 for their support. Any ideas?

Whew, Could be many things, we should start with this...

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Then remove the instance of the old one & try adding again.

Epson Printer Driver/Apple Update Conflict?

The Apple Epson Driver 2.15 update (Snow Leopard) was in conflict with the installed Epson Printer Driver on Epson WF-2530 causing a permanent printing failure. Epson reported that "their staff was working with Apple Staff" to eliminate the conflict. Epson Technicians warned not to install 2.15 or I would lose printing capability again. Recently an Apple Epson Driver download was announced (2.15.1 @30.9 MB). Does that eliminate the problem? Should it be downloaded?

If I were in your position I would not rush to download the new update. Presumably it was intended to address the conflict, but if you restored your printer to operating condition and it is now working acceptably, I'd be inclined to let others be the guinea pigs.
Determining the reason for the update will be difficult or impossible. Apple generally provides a brief, though not necessarily complete, list of problems OS X updates are intended to address, but such information is not generally provided for printer driver updates: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

I recently upgraded to a new MacBook and Snow Leopard. I use an Epson printer & scanner, and an HP all-in-one at work. I didn't realize that 10.6.2 had built-in drivers and installed the Epson and HP drivers & software from the company websites (not apple.com). Then I saw the December Epson printer driver update on apple.com and downloaded that...
Do I now have a bunch of repeat installs?

Short answer - maybe.
If the printers are working properly, I would not be concerned. If they are not, you could do a "find" (include system files in the search) and see what you have. You could also reinstall OS X 10.6 over your current system and then run software update. I would not do that (time involved) unless you are having problems.

Open port issues with Direct Print functionality

Hi, I have been fighting with HP call support about the Photosmart 7525 printer.
Originally I setup and had performed all the functions to enable both web support and WIFI.
Within an hour the printer would not respond to wireless communication, though it had its wireless indecator showing it was connected.
I was told by HP support that the issue will be resolved in March, as there will be a firmware update to fix the issue.
Now that I had the printer install the new firmware I still get the issue.
Though I found through some sniffing, that there are a number of ports enabled and open that are over and beyond print requirements.
Funny thing I can send my printer into instant lockup with all lights flashing with a simple UDP ping sniff. I would think I can do this with other new HP printers using Eprint functions. I will find HP web based printers that are open for public printing and test my theory that HP Eprinters are open to hacking and denyal of service attempts. My Hp print app on andriod list three in my area, and one is at my local Walmart. This would be cool to find this, as I am usually not the first to point such matters out.
I assume some are for Apple devices to print.

OK now I am able to run a full scan on TCP ports without causing a lock up of the printer.
I found that having the printer connect to a router that has been setup to use channel 5, 6 or 7 will cause port scanning issues with the printer.
It is obvious that there are 18 ports that are seen as open, whether they are used or not. Two of which are active but have no service connected to them. Some are just dead like port 25, but over half are active enough to recieve data and lock network connectivity within the printer.
As the firmware states some other laser jets may be affected depending on how the configuration can be set.
I moved my routers channel to channel 1 as it is the only other option I have in a highly congested location. It is not as good as channel 6, but the printer seems to have channel 6 locked in for direct printing.
Here is the latest full scan with UDP enabled, it is the furthest and most complete scan I am able to complete, with UDP ports enabled. The TCP port scan has a bit more and I have placed a simple list below the information given here:
