ERROR - No Response from application server

Hi all,
i'm hitting this error in my application server, i search and read some posts in this forum regarding the same subject, but, the only answer i got is "shutdown app server and start again"
It's very important that i understand and correct what is origin of this error , so i decided to create a new post.
My environment.
Oracle Application Server 9.0.4 (10g) under windows 2003.
Several users, from serveral applications reported then got "No Response from application server".

some thoughts ...This error is not happening consistently, it triggers near the end of month ,naturally the amount of requests in the end of month is higher .. am i hitting som e limit ?

There are settings in the reports configuration to modify your timeout. This is documented in the repors config file itself.

Can you provide additional background information? Is this a in-house application serviced through an OC4J container or a Report from the Middle Tier install?
Is this request being front-ended by an OHS server? Are there firewalls involved?

No Response From Application Server - Oracle 10g

I am Using Oracle 10g Application server.
When running a transaction (query to the DB) sometimes it takes more than the "x" session.timeout minutes seted.
Then 'No Response From Application Server ' error message comes out.
I don`t want to increase the session.timeout minutes because i do want it to work in other issues. The thing is that i don`t want the session to be terminated when waiting for the response from the DB.
How can i overcome this?

Sorry, i`m new in this. I`m using j2EE technology.
The thing is that i was trying to do a page that prints a loading... while waiting for the response from the DB, but when it comes the resultset, and i redirect to another servlet to print the results, an illegalStateException came out (the response has already made the commit).
So i was thinking maybe there was a solution for the application to know that the query is being made in the DB(and that the app/session isn`t stopped).
Maybe with another driver? now i`m trying the ojdbc14.jar.
Or maybe in J2EE I can do a page that self reloads every "x" minutes while waiting for the response from the DB as you said and when it comes prints it ?

Is it possible that not all of your iAS services are started ?
Try to run $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status -l
to see if for example the Http server process is down...
If it is down, then restart it up with the command :
opmnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_Server
(same for any other mid-tier process).

Error - no response from the server

Attempting to upload my first file (18,888 KB) to the acrobat.com server with this consistent error message:
"Error: Acrobat did not get a response from the server. Try again later or contact your system administrator." When I cancel the message after a retry, the following message appears: "The following files were not uploaded due to an unknown error."
Support yesterday indicated to restart my machine - same result. A bit desperate to get this up and running since I like the whole concept of sharing and presenting technical information. Help!

Proxy error - Invalid response from upstream server

We are using Oracle Application Express Listener for requests between a Web browser and Oracle Application Express engine.
Tomcat and Java version on the web server (Windows 2008):
TomCat v 6.0
Java version "1.6.0_25"
Application Express version - 4.0.2.00.07
Access to APEX site happens via Reverse Proxy.
One of the reports is giving following error message from past few days and there are no log entries in Tomcat server.
Proxy Error+
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /appname/f.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
What could be possible reasons for this proxy error? Please help with the possible solutions to this problem.
I have tried restarting Tomcat service, used different browsers, cleared browser cache but for no avail. Error is only on one particular report page.

Have you tried to access the page directly via tomcat without the reverse proxy? This way you can determine if the problem arises at the reverse proxy or tomcat.
You say it happens only on 1 specific report page, this makes me think there is something with that page and not with the reverse proxy or tomcat. Arises the error when you access the page directly or via a menu option? Maybe the menu link is not correct otherwise i suggest that you take a good look at that page.

Discoverer Portlet Provider, No Response from Application Web Server

I must have some odd configurable incorrect. I hope one of you can help me out and point me in the right direction.
My issue involves the "Discoverer List of Worksheets" portlet. It will display all the workbooks and I can drill in and see the worksheets, but, when I click/choose a worksheet, it will return within a couple seconds and display "No Response from Application Web Server" in bold red letters, then "There was no response from application ...", then "Please notify the site's webmaster ...". I have spent the day trying to lock down a log on the http server, j2ee, web cache and used enterprise manager to see logs which changed immediately after the error but didn't seem to find much.
What am I missing? Is there a timeout somewhere? Does it look like I missed something when I configured anything?

No Response from Application Web Server - j2ee when running a long report

Using Oracle Application server, 10.1.2 and a j2ee application which uses Oracle Reports to create pdf report output.
When a report takes 5 mins or more to be produced, the following error message occurs, ending the session. The report request however does continue to run, and the pdf is eventually
produced on the server, but the user cannot retrieve it. So I know the report server is still going after getting this error:

There was no response from the application web server for the page you requested.
Please notify the site's webmaster and try your request again later.
I'm assuming this is a timeout setting in a configuration file, but where?

Hi Tim,
Take Backup of httpd.conf from Oracle_home2(midtier)
Now Edit httpd.conf, set timeout 1200 ie 20 mins (this depends on you how much time u need to set Note: Values are in seconds)
Now restart entire Mid tier
Then run the report again.

I have installed Oracle9i application server Rel 2,9i Infrastructure & oracle 8i DB on Win 2000 server.The installation was successful.
When I access the browser with http://<hostname>:7777 it works fine, it shows HTTP server welcome page.
Now I am trying to access Portal home page using http://<hostname>:7779/pls/portal
It seems, it searches for the Web site for sometime & then gives the error "No response from Web Server"
What is the problem ?? Is there anything with the services ?? I can see two http servers(apps & infrastructure)in the program listing,is it related with these ??

Hi Sandeep.
Try run EM WebSite running in http://<hostname>:1810.
If you are familiarized with this service it should be easy to solve your problem.
Once you access EM WebSite, you'll see two farms(One for iasdb, and one for Portal). That are some symbols that tell you about the status of Portal. If You see an red arrow pointing down, then you need to access Portal farm to put some services "up".
Choose the link for Portal Farm.
This page shows the status of all Portal components.
For you to get response from your portal http server, there a few of these that must be working.
They are (by order):
1. OC4J_Portal;
2. Web Cache;
3. HTTP Server;
For you to start them, you must (for each one) click on it's radio button an choose start.
With this components "up" you should be able to access Portal.
Some of other components cannot be started by us, because it's radio button is disabled, but Single Sign-On:orasso:7777 must be "up", and
Portal:portal:7778 in my case is "down". The rest of OC4J components are needed for other utilities like deploying components.

MediaSource Player: "Response from CDDB server had bad synt

I am using the Creative MediaSource Player as part of the software I got with my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 PCMCIA card. I cannot register to use the CDDB database. I get the error message "Response from CDDB server had bad syntax"?There are many posts here regarding CDDB problems, but none?mention that particular error message. In fact, I Googled it and only two sites came up. But I read all the proposed solutions here and in those two sites, and have tried the following:?. Deleted cddb.db2. Unregistered and reregistered the 4 files mentioned3. Updated to latest version of the software4. Disabled ZoneAlarm5. Tried another app - I CAN successfully access CDDB from Roxio Easy-CD Creator's CD player.6. Manually entered the proxy address that's in IE|Tools|Connections?Has anyone else received this error message? What does it mean? The problem is clearly with the Creative product. In the initial customer on that bug, it was not so much the client or what the client was doing, but the fact that it was connecting to the wrong backend IMAP server. If you are going thru the MMP, that should not happen. If you are going thru the webmail server (used by Convergence, UWC, and old webmail), it should not happen. Both of those (MMP and webmail) use the mailHost attribute to determine which backend to connect to. This specific 3rd party software was a different webmail service. It was supposed to be using the mailHost attribute, but it had a bug. So all connections were going to a default backend. And they have set up Distributed Shared Folders -- see:

The key to this bug is that the client has connected to one backend and that backend, for whatever reason, has proxied that connection to a different backend and the bug is in handling errors on that backend-to-backend connection.
We have also seen it happen while moving users. It could also happen if the user is accessing a shared folder owned by a user on a different backend.

Error in PDF Conversion while downloading file from application server

I am facing a problem in which i have to download file from application server which is a PDF file (output of SAP Script). I am downloading this file using following code in BSP technology:

Result of this code is : there is a pop up asking to open or save pdf format and process is complete, but i have problem in downloaded file.
At the time of creation i have put BMP image for signature in PDF file and it is working fine but when i upload that file in Application server and then download it with above used code it save the PDF file but when i open that file so whereever i have used signature that page gives error and could not display that scanned signature.
Can anyone please help me in this regard.
or is there any possibility from which i can download that file just like File transfer from BSP.
Keep in mind that i am using BSP technology so all GUI based function module to download file are not working.

I have standard sap form for TDS Certificate on which i have include an BMP image for digital signature and download that script into pdf format.While i download that PDF looks ok but it is not working in BSP.

Calendar Page displays No Response from Application Web Server

Hi there,
I have OCS 9.0.4 on a linux ES 2.1 box (single box install). The installation went fine without any errors. When I click the Oracle Calendar Administrator link on the OCS welcome page and sign on using SSO, I get "No Response from Application Web Server.
There was no response from the application web server for the page you requested.
Please notify the site's webmaster and try your request again later. " Any ideas what is wrong ? The calendar server started without any errors (and I restarted HTTP on the midtier). Also, when I access the calendar page thru "http://midtier:7778/ocas-bin/ocas.fcgi?sub=web", only orclguest can login successfully. Every other user gets "Calendar Server connection error. Contact your Administrator" .

Try the following:
a) go to the midtier:port/um/admin/UMAdminLogin.uix and log in as UMADMIN with the password you specified during the installation
b) create a mail user (one that already has an account in the OIDDAS)
c) give that mail user the domain admin right
d) logout
e) login to the collab suite main page (midtier:port/pls/portal) with this user
f) you should see the collaboration suite portlets
g) go to messages
h) click on the administration tab
i) go to calendar admin
j) create a calendar account for this user

Error Loading the file from application server

Hi Team,
I'm trying to load the .CSV file from application server and I'm getting the error message.
In the data package
Update to PSA --Green
Transfer Rule -- Green
Update Rule - error ABORT was set in the customer routine 9998
Error 1 in the update
Please help me to provide the solution.
But when I try to load the other files there are no issues. thanks.
