Escalation in multi-level approval
Hi all,
I have created a release workflow for an RFQ.I have used a rule to send mails for approval to different release levels
The escalation scenario follows :
If an L1 doesn't respond to the approval mail in 5 days, I need to send it to the next level(i.e L2) for release level L1 + L2 approval.
How do I proceed further for the escalation scenario.
Any input would be helpful
Thanks,
nsp.
Hi
Thanks for the reply.
What is the rule which i need to use in deadline monitoring to send the escalation mail to the L2 approver if L1 doesn't respond

Project Workflow Extension for Multi level approval
Hi,
We have a requirement of 2 or 3 level of approval on Project Workflow for Project Status Change. We are planning to use the Seeded extension provided by Oracle to get the Approver for Project Status Change.
The extension procedure provided pa_client_extn_project_wf . select_project_approver has only one out parameter that is Approver id. This means it's only possible 1 level of approval.
Please help me to find out the way how can i make this work for multi level Approval.
Regards,
RamHi Paul,
Thanks for your suggestion.
By comments field I'm assuming OfficeTask.Comments field. Problem is, this field is always null. I tried accessing this field in CheckExitCondition activity as well as in OnTaskCompleted but in both the cases, it was null only(I wrote comments while approving
the task).
I used a code activity within OnTaskCompleted activity and following code for accessing Comments and Description fields:
public string officeComments;
public string officeDescription;
private void TaskCOmplete(object sender, EventArgs e)
CodeActivity Sender = (CodeActivity)sender;
Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Actions.OfficeTask ofctask1 = ((CompositeActivity)Sender.Parent).Parent as Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Actions.OfficeTask;
officeComments = ofctask1.Comments;
officeDescription = ofctask1.Description;
Please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong here, I'm very new to Workflows. Also, do I need to set any specific property of officeTask for retriving comments?

Converting WF to Multi level approval.
Hi,
I want to convert my standard WF to go Multi Level. I dont want to make any changes in standard. How can I achieve this and make my WF approvals n rejection go Multi level Approval.
Himanshu.Hi...
What workflow are you talking about. Can you be more clear on your requirement.
If you dont want to make any changes in the workflow, but still you want mutliple approvals then i guess it will be difficult. For some workflows standard SAP has provided configuration in SAP IMG which will handle multiple approvals with a single workflow design.
Please let us know what scenario are you talking about.

Issue with PO release (multi level approval)
Hi,
Need help regarding PO release. I am working with 4 level approval process.
Information:
it is sequential release as I can see in workflow log, a new workflow gets generated for next level only after previous level executes the workitem.
Facing following issue at 2nd Level :
Level 2 releases item and it goes to Level 3, but workitem doesnt disappear from inbox.Once Level 3 releases item, an acceptance mail goes to Level 2. But along with the mail, updated workitem (i.e. showing release by 3rd level) also appears in inbox of Level2. Now two work items appear in Level2 Inbox.
In Workflow Log, this is how its behaving:
WORKFLOW STARTED-->
1st WF appears in WF log.
Level 1 releases WI ->
2nd workflow appears in WF log +
1st workflow with (in process status)
Level 2 releases WI ->
3rd WF appears +
2nd workflow with (in process status) +
1st workflow with (in process status)
Level 3 releases WI ->
3rd WF appears +
2nd workflow with (in process status) +
1st workflow with (in process status)
ISSUE: As soon as Level 3 sends back acceptance to Level 2, updated WI item appears( i.e. with latest release status which in this case is: released by level1, Level2 and Level3) along with the mail.
Level 4 releases WI ->
4th WF appears +
3rd WF appears (in process status) +
2nd workflow with (in process status) +
1st workflow with (STATUS COMPLETED)
ISSUE: As soon as Level 4 sends back acceptance to Level 2, updated WI item appears( i.e. with latest release status which in this case is: released by level1, Level2, Level3 and Level 4) along with the mail.
Result:
PO gets released.
In workflow log 2nd, 3rd and 4th workflow appear with IN PROCESS STATUS. All of them show process stopped at LEVEL2.Hi Kjetil,
Release strategy is being used. Configuration for release strategy is given as following.
RGroup Rcode Workflow Agent
Z6 R1 1 Blank
Z6 R1 1 Blank
Z6 R1 1 Blank
Z6 R1 1 Blank
Release is sequential.
For column 'Agent' mentioning position or User is not really useful because we are getting agents through Z table. Reason is: current org structure supports 1 position with multiple users from same department. In our scenario we need to find initiators department then find relevant approval levels for that departemnt. So I cannot mention any position in 'Agent' Column as release code will be locked against one position and one departetment.
Agents picked through Z table. Table has fields Agent/ UserID , level, department.
Logic to pick agents( Object and method created ):
When workflow starts, it finds department of the initiator.
For that department-> find approval levels available(L1, L2, L3).
For these levels -> Find Agent mentioned for that level.
Onece Agents are found for all levels -> Pass them to WF container.
In task activity, These agents are passed back to the rule and the task comes to know which agent it should go to.
Result : Four workflows start in sequence. When last level releases, only 1st workflow shows COMPLETED status. Rest three hang at level 2. If I see Me29N , release for that item is shown completed. To me it seems triggering of only first workflow is enough for release. Is there any way I can avoid trigerring of other three workflows?

OIM - Multi Level approval - Role assignment at the time of approval
I have to provision to two target applications. But, the roles in each application are different. So, at the time of approval, the groupmanager (same from both apps- first level authentication) have to assign the roles individually to each application and the request will go to second level authentication . A person can have multiple roles in the application. How to achieve this functionality.
Thanks in advance.You have two create different APproval Workflow for different resources.
Attach two objects form each parent and child.
First Approver can edit the object form data to add roles and then he will aprove.
In you approval workflow two tasks will be there
Approval1
Approval2 > conditional
Open Approval1 task and in the responses tab select Approve and in Task to Generate select Approval2.
In Assignment tab you can assign it to anyone you want.

SRM 7 WF - Multi level approval
Hi ,
Currently I am struggling at one requirement in SRM 7 process-controlled WF.
Requirement goes like this.
Lets say . In SC there are 10 items
depending on some logic they are grouped like 3 + 3 + 4
This is achieved using area creation badi.
Also first level approvers for each area are assigned using agent determnation BADI.
Here comes the interesting part.
Depending on the approval limit of the approver next level should get created .
But it may be possible that area 1 ( 3 items ) and area 2 ( 3 items) are approved ate first step itself.
And area3 ( 4 items) may go to multiple level as the value of these 4 items exceeds the approval limit of the approver.
In short,
at first level I need a fork.
and depending on the group (area) value that perticular area only should flow thru multiple steps.
Guys,
I have achieved multilevel and fork parts separately but combining both is really a tough task for me .
Is it possible to achieve such results ?
Pls help me getting through.
Thanks in advance,
Ganesh.Ganesh

I'm designing a sequential site workflow using Visual Studio 2010 for Project Server 2010. In my case, I have following 6 stages in the workflow:
1. InitialProposal Stage
2. Approval Stage1 -- Needs approval from Approver Project Security Group Members1
3. Rejection Stage
4. Approval Stage2 -- Needs approval from Approver Project Security Group Members 2
5. Execution Stage
6. Completed Stage
Requirement is workflow should move to Approval stage2 from Approval stage1 if approved by all members of Approver Project Security Group1and it should move to Rejection Stage even if a single member rejects it.
Workflow should move from Approval Stage2 to Execution Stage if approved by all members of Approver Project Security Group2 and it should move back to Approval Stage1 on rejection by a single member of the group.
I'm using inbuilt PSWApproval content type and OfficeTask activity for creating approval task for the group members at both stages.
On task rejected in Approval stage2, task will be assigned again to Approval Stage1 and I want to show comments given by members of Approver Project Security Group2 to the members of Approver Project Security Group1 with this assigned task
but I'm not able to retrieve comments from officeTask activity.
My question is where exactly these comments are saved? how can we retrieve them and use them in another officetask activity? If this is not possible then what is the possible solution for meeting above mentioned business requirement?Hi Paul,
Thanks for your suggestion.
By comments field I'm assuming OfficeTask.Comments field. Problem is, this field is always null. I tried accessing this field in CheckExitCondition activity as well as in OnTaskCompleted but in both the cases, it was null only(I wrote comments while approving

Approval of Working Time & Multi Level CATS approval
Hi experts,
We have implemented CATS multi level approval as below.
1. In the CATS user exit we call a Workflow which is a multi level
workflow.
2. We are using the standard Webdynpro for CATS entry and approval.
Problem:
Once the first level manager(Say A) approves the timesheet work item
gets triggered for the next level approver(Say B). Since approval is a
standard webdynpro, the status of the CATS record immediately changes
from 20 to 30. So in the workflow, before sending the work item to
second level approver, we change the status of the time record back to
20 (Since it is yet to go through all approvals).
Now in the Team--> Approve working time section of the MSS, manager 'A'
still sees the record for approval, even though now the approval is
pending from 'B'. Moreover 'A' can approve this item as well (which
should not be the case).
Please provide a solution so that 'A' will not have the working time
item in his 'Working time section' after the A approves it in the UWL.
Thanks
KrishnaSolved it myself.
My solution is documented here.

Please leave your comments if you have any better solution for multi level approval.
Thanks in advance,

Why Template, request and operation level approval from 11g?
Hi All,
I''m very new to OIM 11g and could not understand the logic behind having three categories of approval workflow, sucn as Template, operational and request level approvals? In 10 g, on the contrary, we can achieve multiple level approval using one approval process against a resource object. Having said that, i think we can also achieve a multi level approval in one BPEL process using the serial or parallel type of approval. So, a single approval process, say request level approval process can be configured to catered to multiple level of approvals. If this is the case, i could not figure out the reason behind the availability of 2 further categories template and request level approval. Can anyone please shed light on the actual usage with a context and also render reference to a 10 g functionality for these approval categories.
Thanks,
SriniRequest Level & Operation Level :
Re: Difference requestlevel and operational level
Template Level : It is also same as Request Level where you can reject the complete request in one shot. In latest version of OIM i.e. OIM 11g R2, you won't find this Approval Level. -
Is it possible to have two level approval of timesheets in cats? If yes How to do that?
Hi,
Its not possible to have multi level approval process in current set up of SAP.
If you look at the current process flow time entry>approval> transfer (depending on the time entry profile some profile does not require approval level and direct transfer to receiving objects).
considering the present flow, approved time is waiting to be transferred to receiving objects. it means only one level was set up.
If you want to go for two levels please develop custom transactions from beginning of time entry to transferring. Else you can raise OSS note to have such functionality.
Thanks,

Assume, there is no HR in ECC. In precise, there is o Org structure in ECC but available in SRM
1. How to achieve the multi-level approval workflow for Non PO Invoice (parked doc).
2. Can it be done in SRM7. If so how to give a start to it.Hi,
For any workflow Org structure is not mandatory.
The workflow approval levels are fully based on client requirement.
If there is no org structure in the organization then you can make use of any custom table to maintain the approvers for workflow.
Thanks,

How to commit primary key in a multi level form
Hi ,
I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.2.3. ADF - Struts jsp application.
I have an application that has multiple levels before it finally commits, say:
Level 1 - enter name , address, etc details -- Master Table Employee
Level 2 - Add Education details -- Detail Table Education
Level 3 - Experience -- Detail Table Experience.
Level 4 - adding a Approver -- Detail Table ApplicationApproval
In all this from Level 1 I generate a document number which is the primary key that links all these tables.
Now if User A starts Level 1 and moves to level 2,he gets document no = 100 and then User B starts Level 1 and also gets document no = 100 because no commit is executed.
Now I have noticed that system crashes if User B calls a vo.validate().
How can I handle this case as Doc no is the only primary key.Hi,
This is what my department has been doing even before I joined and its been working for our multi user environment for these many years.
We have a table called DOC_SRNO which will hold a row for our start docno , next number in running sequence. the final number. We have this procedure that returns next num to calling application and increments the next num by 1 in the table. and final commit on the application commits all this.
I am not sure how this was working so far but each of those applications were for different employees. I am assuming this is how it worked.
Now in the application that I am working on, has no distinct value. So two users could generate the same docno and proceed.
I will try the DB sequence but here is what I tried. I call the next num from DOC_SRNO and I commit this table update and then proceed with this docno so at a time both gets different docno's.
But my running session crashes when I go to next level to insert into the detail table of my multi level form. Here when I try to get the current row from the vo which is in context, it crashes.
Here's the steps.
Three tables : voMainTable1 and voDetailTable1 and voDetailTable2.
voMainTable1 on create row1- I generate new docno - post changes
voMainTable1 on create row2- I genrate another docno - post changes
set voMainTable1 in context
Now I call voDetailTable1 and to get the docno to join master detail, I try to get voMainTable1.getCurrentRow. Here it crashes.
How can I avoid this -
PO workflow - escalator at plant level
Hi SAP people,
do you know if it is possible to set the time for workflow escalator at plant level?
I have implemented the PO approval flow but i want to define 2 different escalator...
Thanks in advance
MichelaHi,
Either goto spro>MM>Procurement>Environment Data>Define attributes of system messages and make 06/341 as Error or Warning, as required.
Or
Make source list mandatory in material master.
Or
Source List mandatory at plant in Source List config.
Or
Remove the pricing condition PBXX from your prcing that means you will have only PB00 (Gross price) condition in your PO which is determine the gross price from Info or contract or SA or RFQ but can't allow user to enter the price at PO level w/o any source document
Or
Customer exit MM06E005-EXIT_SAPMM06E_012
