Essbase Excel Plugin Errors/Warnings
Our company is in the process of packaging software and we recently received the package for the Essbase Excel Plugin today and ran into errors while testing it out. My thought process is that the file permissions on the Hyperion Solutions folder are incorrect and the user does not have/read access to this folder. Would file permissions cause the following errors (seen below)?
Error #1
Opening a wallet (C:\Hyperion Solutions\Middleware\EPMSysttem11R1\products\ExcelAddin;\products\ExcelAddin\bin\wallet) failed (28759).
Error #2
SSL Initialization failed with error code [1040132].

Cause
One Of the following Environment Variables is not set:
ARBORPATH
ESSBASEPATH
ORACLE_INSTANCE
ORACLE_HOME
Solution
Make sure the following Paths are set in the Environment Variables:

Where "C" Is your installation Path.
In order to remove the warning message:
Copy from $ORACLE_INSTANCE\config\Opmn\opmn\wallet directory along with the cwallet.sso to the ARBORPATH\bin directory.

Hello Everyone,
I have Hyperion and Essbase Fusion Edition installed in the same machine. Whenever I open a new instance of excel, I get the Hyperion (Smart View) addin, but I do not get the Essbase Plugin. Instead I get the following error message:
"essbase uniquyfyforuser failed to get unique name size, code 1355"
Any suggestion would be of great help.

The new access type does not go via BusinessObjects Enterprise (so no QaaWS or LiveOffice involved), instead the SAP Embedded Analytics connector creates .SWF visualizations which are published back into NetWeaver to handle authentication & data fetch run.

Hi,
Some users in my company are experiencing a strange issue when connecting to our MDS server using the MDS Excel plugin. They receive the error message:
"The HTTP Request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme negotiate. The authentication header received from the server was "NTLM,BASIC real="DOMAIN NAME IWA"
They are receiving this error when first trying to connect. For some reason they only receive this error when connected to the work network via the VPN. They don't receive this error from within our network.
Does anyone know what might be causing this issue and how to resolve?

Essbase excel add-on error after installing IR Studio.
Hyperion software compatibility issues?
Getting Essbase excel add-on error ("Error 1040007 Cannot find message database") after installing Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio 9.3.1. We are able to consistently reproduce the error on several workstations.
Any ideas?

ErnestoTry installing IR first, followed by the Essbase client. I think that worked for us. I can't recall what our path looked like in that scenario I just remember if we did it in that order things worked fine. I think Support said there is no certain "install order" that truly fixes the problem, that you have to manipluate the path by hand. But I'm pretty sure installing IR first worked in our enviro.
I do not know of a way to install IR Studio without the Essbase components, my understanding from Support is that they changed the product install thinking it was better this way, they learned after the fact it actually causes the problem you experienced. I would imagine they've changed/fixed the install behavior again in post 9.3.1 releases, but haven't heard.

Essbase excel retrieve warning

we are on version 7.15, Whenever I am trying to pull data in excel ..intially it is displaying warning saying "your license will expire on 12\31\2011", how to avoid this warning message..is there anything we can do ..to avoid warnings and display only errors.
Thank you for your time...The message will pop up for administrators Only. There are a couple of things you can do.
1. In the Essbase excel client on the global tab change warnings to errors.
2. Upgrade to at least 7.165, it got rid of the license file (better yet, usgrade to 11X
3. Contact support for a new master license file.
4. Go here http://licensecodes.oracle.com/hyperion.html It appears they updated the file to expire on 12/31/2013 -
Essbase add-in error:You do not have sufficient access to perform a lock

I have a user who is doing a retrieve in Excel and is getting this error on v.9.3.1:
Essbase Error: "You do not have sufficient access to perform a lock and send on this database".
The user is just doing a retrieve, no lock and send.
I asked him to disable 'update mode' in add-in options (Mode tab) on each of his sheets.
But when he open a new sheet/document Excel 2007, the 'update mode' is enabled by default.
Where can we change that ? Is there a command to put in a .ini file?
I check all the threads but there no answer on how to change this default setting.

Slow processing and getting opening errors/warnings
I've modified the PDF Binder sample to get a plugin that would open PDF's and Tif files, and save them as PDF/A-1b (code below).
It's working. The problem: it's processing too slow (compared with the Actions batch processing)... and I've been getting warnings/and errors about "The imput file is corrupt or of an unknown/unsupported type" type. This is stopping my batch process until I click OK, and the it continues.
I am trying to process a few thousand of tif files now. I tried first to use the Batch processing capability built in the Acrobat X... an it works, but only with the first 255 documents in the folder... then gives an "insufficient disk space" message for the rest of the files in the directory.
So, 2 questions: Does anyone knows why it is so slow processing the tiff files and... how I can make my code "silent" so it does not wait for the OK after the message??

How to run it :
- This sample adds a menu item "PDF Binder" under the Acrobat SDK submenu. Two ways to

files to be converted are located.
- Without folder selection, this original code is to convert and bind files in a
directory C\test\PDFBinder for Win, or a folder MacHD:test:PDFBinder for Mac.
You can copy the test files in the project's testfiles folder to the appropriate location
for testing. You may locate files to be converted in another directory/folder, and
specify the location in the string variable PDFBinderFolder in the code.
- When you have the files to be converted ready in the specified location,

return true;There are some options for various APIs to run "kinda silent" - but again, Acrobat is designed for INTERACTIVE use…so "completely silent" isn't really an option.
As for speed – you'd need to be MUCH MORE specific about where your slow downs are. Have you profiled?

I am using EPM 11.1.2.2 and I have office 2010 and excel addins 11.1.2.2. While retrieving I am getting the below error. I tried the solution provided in the link "http://oraclebrasil.wordpress.com/2011/11/09/error-essbase-has-encountered-an-internal-excel-error-when-retrieving-in-excel-with-essbase-excel-add-in-11-1-1-3/" but since I am having around 500 columns I am loosing the the columns after 256 while saving it as 'Excel 97-2003 Workbook’ .
Error: “Essbase has encountered an internal Excel error. Your sheet will not be overwritten and none of your data will be lost. However, you are strongly urged to exit Excel and restart in order to clear up the problem”
Can you please advise.Think about using Smartview (since you are having 500 columns, that's too many columns if you ask me). Or split your sheets in such a way that it has only 256 columns.

After installing the most recent microsoft patches, users on Office 2000/ Windows 2000 are unable to use the Essbase/ Options menu while connected to a database.They receive an excel.exe error message and are booted out of excel.Has anyone seen this before? Do you know how to fix it?Thanks,Lisa
In old versions, it seems to me that if the essbase.ini file gets corrupted, Excel will crash.. Try removing that file (or the registry entries if you have a newer version) and restart Excel..Tim TowApplied OLAP, Inc

What version of Essbase Excel add-in support 64 bit Windows 7 on our PC?
1) Can anyone tell us what is latest version of 64 bit Essbase Excel-add-in 11.1.1.3.x and will this latest version of Essbase Excel add-in support 64 bit Windows 7 on our PC?
2) we downloaded Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 and was not able to connect to Essbase 11.1.1.3 server. It gave an error message - "This version is newer than the Essbase server." Is there a workaround? (we were hoping 11.1.2 would support 64 bit windows 7)
ps. There is a knowlegebase article that teaches us how to get Smartview 11.1.2 to connect to Essbase. We could not quite follow the badly written KB artible, but Ms. V from Oracle tech support claims she was able to connect and she wrote the article.
We did manage to get Smartview 11.1.2 to connect to Planning 11.1.1.3!!Thanks John and Jasmine.

I am able to connect using Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 and see the list of Essbase server 11.1.1.3 app/databases. However when I tried to select one of the applications/databases, I get the Essbase warning "This version of Essbase 11.1.1.3) is older than the version of the Essbase API (11.1.2.0) you are using."
I get sent back to Essbase system Login screen and am asked to select a app/database. Add-in keeps giving me the above message - none of the 11.1.1.3 databases would allow me to connect.
I guess you guys did not experience this problem? -
Windows 8.1 EPM 10 NW Web interface BPF and Excel Launch error
Hi all
We have a issue with Windows 8.1.
When we try to launch excel from the web interface (Admin) or through a BPF, we get TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED error.
This is only on the Windows 8.1 machine.
We tested on few machines.
All have the following:
Office 2010 32bit,
Internet Explorer 11 32 bit (even tried with 64bit)
Chrome (on chrome we get com_sap_tc_ui_ria_fcp plugin error)
Mozilla - can't get Mozilla to work at all...doesn't even show the activities or the Launch options. Only Admin launch.
On the Windows 7 machines it works. But not on Windows 8.1.
Already tried to search in the RegEdt the 5.6, 6.6, 7.6 etc but that isn't the issue.
Has anyone ever found this issue?
All other EPM functions work 100% with Windows 8.1.
Also installed SP17 for the EPM office add-in as well as the patch.
