Ethernet Pass Through second G5 port?
I am trying to set up an old dual 2.0 G5 powermac as a media device in my living room; and i'm banging my head against the wall trying to determine how to get it on my wifi network.
i have been trying for the last hour and a half to get my Airport Express (its old, 2005?) to connect to my wifi, and as far as i can tell, it doesn't; here's my thought though.. since i have a RJ45 cable running already to the living room for my ATT Uverse, is it possible to connect directly to the G5 first, and connect the Uverse into the second ethernet port on the g5; is this theoretically possible?
next attempt will be to use my old airport ufo base station… who knows
Hi Cory, yes, it should be possible, using Internet Sharing on the G5, From Ethernet 1 to Computers using Ethernet 2 for instance...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.

Using mini as ethernet pass-through?
I want to use my Mac mini which is connected to my router wirelessly to network several devices using ethernet connections. I was wondering if it was as simple as getting an ethernet switch and connecting that to the Mac mini and then using the downstream(?) ports to connect the devices. What if anything would then be required to pass the packets on to the internet?

How to enable GRE pass-through
I have a router cisco 1811 and I need enable GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation. How I can do that?
Hi, I have my router cisco 1811 K9, with Failover and LoadBalancing... and with the NAT rules to pass through the respective ports to have Web and Telnet Access...
now I'm trying connect from an external connection, with the windows xp client VPN conection, to my office (internal LAN) Windows 2003 VPN server....
I'm already NAT the ports 1723 Tcp and 1701 Udp but doesn't work....

Does my MacBook passes audio through Mini Display Port or not?
I recently bought a Mini DisplayPort > HDMI adapter in order to display my MacBook on my TV. Other users of the same adapter publicly stated that they got video AND audio out, but I got only video.
I've been searching this online for two days now and I still don't know why (I even searched this support forum, but I must admit that I got a little lost and decided to write my own topic). All I discovered was that some MacBooks have this capacity (to port audio along with video through Mini DisplayPort) and others don't.
I'm using a white MacBook unibody bought new and latest on late 2009. It's the first model with multitouch trackpad and without FireWire port. Its model name is "MacBook 6,1", I guess.
Does anybody know for sure if It CAN, in fact deliver audio+video through the Mini DisplayPort if I'm using a compatible HDMI adapter?
Thanks. These models pass audio through the display port:
iMac (Late 2009), MacBook Pro (Mid 2010), MacBook (Mid 2010), and Mac mini (Mid 2010) supply multichannel audio (up to 8 channels) and video signals over Mini DisplayPort. To connect your television or other HDMI devices to your Mac, use select third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters that conform to the VESA v1.1a DisplayPort Interoperability Guidelines. The following adapters adhere to these standards:
- Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support
- Griffin Video Display Converter (Mini DisplayPort to HDMI and DVI) -
Receive wireless signal and pass through via ethernet
Hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible to pass through internet via ethernet from a Time Capsule that receives a Wireless signal.
How can I do this?
Thanks!Well, to be more specific, this a scheme of what I'm trying to do (it represents the floors in my house):

So;
- Telenet modem wired to D-link wireless router.
- D-link router to AE (wireless)
- AE to stereo (wired)
- D-link router to TC (wireless)
- TC to PC (wired)
- TC to printer (USB)
- D-link to tv (wired)
- D-link to Digibox (digital television - wired)
I want to be able to stream music from every device on the netwerk (iPad, iPhone, MBP, ..)
and print from every device. All music should be streamed from iTunes Library on TC.
I hope this is clear
Thanks in advance! -
Second monitor nor being detected through dvi-d port
Hi I have a Hp s5610y slimline. Windows 7 64 bit . It is a newer system with 3 ghz ram and over 600 g.b ram so I know it is not a performance issue, (system handling the duty) I am trying to hook up dual monitors, the product specs page on H.P states that the Vga and Dvi -d ports can both be used at the same time. I have the dvi-d converter to vga hooked up to a monitor through the Vga port on one computer ( that is not working). The port from Vga to vga works fine( the first monitor. I already check the easy stuf like "enabling dual monitor", unplugging the monitor, updating the lastest driver for radeon 3000 and restarting windows. I hooked up two monitors before with no problems. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Manny
This question was solved.
View Solution.>I have the dvi-d converter to vga ....
This will never work!
vga is an analog signal, dvi-d is digital.
Only dvi-a or dvi-i can convert to analog vga.
Check the diferencies here:

Either graphics card or monitor can't recognize each other.

Cisco ASA 5505 L2TP Pass through
I am having trouble with L2TP pass through on an ASA 5505 device.
L2TP server: OSX 10.6
I can connect with any OSX system and it works fine straight away.
When connecting with a windows computer I get a 789 error. "Error 789: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountere a processing error during the initial negotiations with the remote computer."
I did not setup or configure the device to start with and apart from this issue its working fine so I am hessitant at trying to just mess around too much to try and find the problem.
I am using the ASDM 6.4 to manage the device.
Ports look to be forwarded correctly; 1701, 4500 & 500 UDP.
Im just looking for other common issues?

Simple pass-through application
I have a computer with 2 network connectors on it, and would like to write a very simple application to pass data from one connector to the other. This means that if I connect one connector to a router and the other to another computer, the second computer should behave as if it were directly connected to the router because the multi-homed machine is simply passing data back and forth.
This code could form the basis of an application to log all of the data passed back and forth or to possibly filter the traffic that passes through. This is what I'd ultimately like to do, but for now, I'm still struggling with how to simply pass data back and forth, and do things like opening ports when requested.
I'm not sure whether this is a very simple application (I think it is) or a very complex one. Anyone have any ideas how to do this simply? Any references to anyything like this?
Sander SmithMaybe I'm not making myself clear about what I want to do.
Let's say I have a computer with two NICs. In one of the NICs I'd like to plug a network-enabled web cam into. This web cam has a web server built into it, and will try to open port 80 for inbound connections. My computer should allow the web cam to "think" it is connected to a router and allow this to happen, and open up port 80 on the other NIC that's attached to a router on the real internet. Any browser that connects to this port 80 will have its requests simply forwarded to the web cam. Needless to say, anything that the web cam tries to do such as send data out should be mimicked on the on the interface. In this way, we've built a simple pass-through program that transparently passes data back and forth.
It would seem that writing a little application to simply pass data from one NIC to the other should be very simple. Why would I want this? Well, I really don't. It is just the first step to building the real program where I allow some kind of filtering to happen on the data going by. For instance, imagine the web cam has no zoom feature. My program in the middle can provide this feature by watching the data go by, and simply zooming in on the images that are being returned. This is why using some existing program won't work for me: I want to be able to control the filtering in the middle.
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this simply?

Tracing a route passing through ASA
Hi Everyone,
Need help on tracing a route IP 192.168.27.0 that is passing through ASA
i did sh route on ASA
S 192.168.27.0 255.255.255.0 [1/0] via 192.168.101.14, Xnet
so this means that this ASA is learning this route statically through int Xnet right ?
when i do sh int on ASA it shows Xnet as interface.
what should be my next step?
also i am able to ping this IP from ASA but whne i do sh arp it does not show this IP 192.168.27.251 and mac address
Thanks
Mahesh
Message was edited by: mahesh parmarSo I presume you have ASA5550 or you have bought addiotional 4 GigabitEthernet module.
When you look at the ASA from the side where the physical ports are
The usual ports (without the module) should be in the Right side
The modules ports should be on the Left side
The module should contain 8 ports
4 Ports are for SFP slots (usually for fiber connections)
4 Ports are for basic Ethernet connectivity
The configuration should have some line "media-type" which defines which type is used "rj45" of "sfp"
rj45 for Ethernet
sfp for SFP module
So GigabitEthernet 1/2 port should be to my understanding either the Third Ethernet or Third SFP port of the module depending on the above port configuration mentioned (media-type rj45/sfp)
The ports GigabitEthernet0/0 - x are the ports that are in every ASA, Ports GigabitEthernet1/0 - x are the expansion modules ports
Hope this helps. Hopefully I remembered that right.

USB Pass-Through From Windows 8.1 Host To Windows Server 2012 R2 VM
I want to be able to connect with a Windows Mobile Device through Windows Mobile Device Center, within a Virtual Machine. When connecting through the Hyper-V Manager and through Remote Desktop, under "Other supported RemoteFX USB devices",
I can see the Symbol USB Sync Cradle. In the VM, in Device Manager, I don't see a USB connection. In the VM, I don't see any meaningful errors in the Event Viewer.
Host: Windows 8.1 Enterprise Hyper-V on a Domain. Upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro. When this computer was originally installed with Windows 8 Pro, Hyper-V was enabled. I removed Hyper-V, and installed VMWare Player, because I wanted
USB Pass-through. I then uninstalled VMWare and installed VirtualBox. Recently, I uninstalled VirtualBox, upgraded to Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and enabled Hyper-V.
Virtual Machine OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 on a Workgroup. Started out with being a VMWare VM, using VMWare Player. Moved to VirtualBox. USB Pass-through was working in both those virtual environments. Used Disk2VHD to convert the
VM to a VHDX file.
On the Host:
Windows Mobile Device Center is connected to a Motorola Windows Mobile Device (MC959X) sitting in a Symbol USB Cradle. The OS on the scanner is Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 Classic CE OS 5.2.29217 (Build 29217.5.3.12.26). Advanced Networking
(USB to PC) is not enabled.
Enabled RemoteFX.
In the RDP file, and in the Registry, added the GUID's for:
WPD "{eec5ad98-8080-425f-922a-dabf3de3f69a}";
Windows Mobile "{6AC27878-A6FA-4155-BA85-F98F491D4F33}";
USB Device "{88BAE032-5A81-49f0-BC3D-A4FF138216D6}";
Windows CE USB Device "{25dbce51-6c8f-4a72-8a6d-b54c2b4fc835}";
GUID_DEVINTERFACE_USB_DEVICE "{A5DCBF10-6530-11D2-901F-00C04FB951ED}"
Ran "sfc /scannow"
All Microsoft Updates are current.
What am I missing?I hope it's something like that. Those features have been installed. Here's what PowerShell shows is installed:

Xbox 360 - Optical line-in pass through 5.1 to optical line-out on an iMac?
Hi guys, i'm in the market to purchase a new 5.1 surround sound system for my room and the following issue has been purplexing me.
IS it possible to daisy chain my XBOX 360 to my iMac with optical cables and pass through 5.1 surround sound to the decoder on the sound system?
So i'd have an optical cable from my xbox to the line-in on my iMac. I'd use Rogue Amoeba's Line-In app to pass the sound through to the optical line-out and through to the sound system.
(I know it works using stereo sources, but i don't know about 5.1 digital sound.)
I also know i could just connect them both to separate optical ports on the sound sytem, but i'm trying to listen to 2 sources at the same time. (5.1 from XBOX and music from iMac).
Any thoughts on this are appreciated!I'm convinced things work like this:
The SBX-Fi receives the encoded SPDIF.<
The drivers decode it into the 5 digital audio signals. This siimply regenerates what was put into the encoding and has no effect on its "volume."<
The 5 digital audio signals are sent to the SBX-Fi hardware, as is.<
The signals are widened (not sure about the SBX-Fi, but for SBLi've-/SBAudigy-series card it's 32-bits with IIRC 4 bits for headroom, which is 24dB) at input by the SBX-Fi hardware. The additional headroom is probably able to handle most effects/mixing which might happen, but might produce a signal which would clip on output if the intermediate results produce a digital volume over 00%.<
The master output volume operates on the output signals before they are narrowed.<
The output signals are narrowed (dithered) and distributed.<
If that's correct, it means you should be able to simply lower the master output volume in the soundcard mixer; and that presumes something's going on like high Crystalizer settings, or something; to elminate clipping distortion.

CSV V/s Pass through disks with HV 2012 R2 failover cluster
Hi
We are using HV 2012 R2 failover cluster with CSV. We found some articles saying pass through disks outperforms CSV. Is this correct?
Regards
LMSHi
We are using HV 2012 R2 failover cluster with CSV. We found some articles saying pass through disks outperforms CSV. Is this correct?
"The juice isn't worth the squeeze" (c) ...
Tim is 200% correct here: any performance gains (if any...) you'll get will fade in darkness compared to management burden you'll have with pass-thru disks (issues with failover, VM migration and no
real support with a major VM backup vendors). Making long story short: don't do it.
StarWind Virtual SAN clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts. -
Flat-file and the pass-through pipeline
Hi there,
I have a technical questions about the inner workings of BizTalk.
The MSDN says that BizTalk is XML-centric and enything that is going through it and is posted to the MsgBox is converted to XML format.
The question: Is this also true in a scenario including flat-file and a pass-through pipeline ?
Lets say the flat file needs not to be translated, the external organisation will except the flat-file format we are receiving on the receive port. So we use the receive location with the pass-thrugh pipeline (a pipilene without any components in it) and
a send port with a simple filter pointed to the ReceivePort name. No need to convert the file to XML whatsoever, and it would be a waist of time and resources IMHO.
So the question is, will BizTalk (being XML-centric) do the translation anyway ? In what format is the received file being posted and stored in the MsgBoxDb ?
Thanks in advance.
PeterIn a pass-through scenario (with pass-through pipelines) BizTalk will not process the message payload.
More information here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa561008.aspx
The pass-through receive pipeline has no components. It is used for simple pass-through scenarios when no message payload processing is necessary. This pipeline is generally used when the source and the destination of the message are known, and the message
requires no validation, encoding, or disassembling. This pipeline is commonly used in conjunction with the pass-through send pipeline.

Sharing Ethernet Connection Through Airport
Is it possible to share your Ethernet connection through airport so that two computers can connect to a single connection without the need of a wireless router? I know that this is possible on XP, but I am somewhat new with OS X and cannot seem to figure it out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Open the Sharing preference, click on the Internet tab, select the connection to share from the drop down menu, then check the ports that will share the connection.
You will find additional info by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching on the appropriate term.
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values. -
RV042G cannot support more than 2-3 IPSec Pass through connections
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what the max number of IPSec VPN pass through connections the RV042G can handle. We bought an RV042G router to replace our old RV042 box which was running into connection limitations. There are approximately 15 people in the office and anywhere from 5-8 of them need to vpn to a single client site. There seems to be an issue with UPNP where it creates the proper port forwarding but doesn't associate it with an internal IP address. Giving each workstation a static internal IP doesn't solve this issue. The remote site we are connecting to does have NAT-T turned on. What ends up happening is that after a while, users cannot vpn. Sometimes it happens with fewer than three users. Clearing the UPNP and rebooting the router helps but eventually if you connect and disconnect, a few times, you're hosed. The UPNP doesn't release the setting it makes in a timely fashion. Is there any way to fix this besides turning off UPNP which we need for other software to work?Lenovo support (for me in Canada at least) is based in Atlanta, so I'm surprised you found a tech with bad English...
Your problems sound like windows problems, not hardware problems -- are you running XP or Windows7? If you google based on your OS, there are threads to be found on slowing down the start menu behaviors.
