EXC_BAD_ACCESS Error - Excel 2011

Hi - I have a fairly new Mac Book Pro and in the last few days I have started having a problem with Excel. Not all the time, only with a few files that were sent for work that other people can open with their Macs but I can't. I have previously been able to open earlier savings of the file but not the latest (there are no changes to the senders Excel version etc). I am still able to open other files but not the latest ones.
I have tried rebooting my computer and searching Google etc but can't figure out what the problem is or what to do (btw I know NOTHING about computers!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Error bars in mac excel 2011

Dear friends
I am using mac excel 2011 and made charts using multiple series of data. I have calculated mean, std dev and std error and wanted to pt in custom values for error bars. Everytime I choose error bars>more options> custom readings and then highlight
the cells on the chart. But the error bar still show the same value in all columns of that series.
I have even exported the sheet to my PC and tried on excel 2003 and it still is not allowing me to chose different values even in custom setting.

Is there a way to open old Excel 2004 files in Excel 2011?

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, and installed the latest version of Office 2011 for Mac. THEN I discovered that some of my older Excel workbooks, created on my ancient PowerBook G4 back in 2007, WON'T OPEN. I get a message saying that there is an error, and then Excel crashes. I really need to get access to this workbook on my new computer! It opens just fine in older versions of Excel, no corruption issues at all. It's just when I try to open it with my new laptop and Excel 2011. Does anybody out there have a workaround for me? I have loads of data in this spreadsheet and now no way to access it! Help!

Make sure Office 2011 is fully updated. It shouldn't have a problem opening those documents.
When I open a 97 - 2004 workbook, it states that it needs to be converted. That may be what is crashing on your copy of Office.
Have you tried creating a new account and see if you can open them there.

When I try to open it in an Excel web app, or other online excel environment (whether using Firefox or Chrome) I get this message:

few other forums suggested an issue with adobe add-ins, but I don't show one in the Excel>Tools>Addins dialogue.

The same error message will result from a problem in any add-ins ,thus you should investigate other installed add-ins. It is worth the effort to try to start your excel program in safe mode. About how to use safe mode in Mac OS, Please refer to :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892428
If this issue is gone in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel.

Excel 2011 Will Not Link to MacMail in Mountian Lion From a Hyperlinked Cell

Unlike Excel 2004, my shiny new Excel 2011 will not link to MacMail in Mountian Lion from a hyperlinked cell email address entry. When I click on the button "Launch E-mail Application" I get the message, "An error occurred trying to find or launch your email program".
When I click on the cell with the link I get the message. "Office cannot open the URL you specified. Make sure you have a web browser installed and that it is configured correctly".
Does anyone have knowledge how to fix this up? Thanx. :-)

'Margins Do Not Match Page Size' Excel 2011 problem - nothing working now. Mac 10.9.2

Hey folks. PLEASE help. I'm running Mac 10.9.2 with Excel 2011 on a macbook pro. All of a sudden i'm getting an error 'Margins Do Not Match Page Size' on Excel as soon as i start doing anything e.g. adjust page size, try to print. Help?
Ive seen previous questions on this but nothing recent and none of the solutions seem to fit.

Excel 2011 Mac - function IRR() not found "#NAME?"

Hello everyone
I need to calculate the Internal Rate of Return using the "=IRR()" function. The Problem is that Excel does
not find the function and returns the "#NAME?" error. I checked the web for a solution but can't find it to safe my life.
How can I add the function to Excel 2011 for Max?

Click the cell that displays the error, click the button that appears , and then click the option "Trace Error"
if it appears. (Sorry, I've not install Excel 2011 for MAC, so I cannot confirm the exact name of the option)

Applescript with Excel 2011

Hi guys.
In Excel 2011 there is no button for changing Numbers or text to be raised, or indexed. You have to work yourself through the menu to do this.
So I wrote an Applescript which works great if I launch it from the AppleScript-Editor window, but as soon as I save it in the Excel Script Folder, I get lots of Errors: mainly that the menu bar couldn't be found.
The Script:

Problem Solved:
I found a post on a microsoft forum about Excel. The Edit:Clear:ALL command does not change the previously used cells to unused, therefore the "Used Range" still includes the blank cells. You have to select the rows and Delete them, to get the "Used Range" reset.

If I go from explorer the file is regularly opened with Adobe Reader.

Excel 2011 version 14.4.8 running on an iMac gets "out of memory" messages.

HELP!!! Excel 2011 running on an iMac with OS 10.10.2 and 16GB Ram gets "out of memory" messages. When I monitor processes with "Activity Monitor", I am using less than half of my RAM. The Excel workbook has many sheets and also some macros. The basic workbook has been running for about two and half years starting in August 2012 without any problems until I upgraded to Yosemite in early December 2014. Now I often have to restore the entire file content because it gets corrupted after not being able to save the file because of the "out of memory" message. I can take a file and its content that ran fine a year ago and run it today and it will eventually get corrupted and get the "Out of memory" message after saving/quitting/re-opening the file any where from 6 to 15 to 25 times. I think I need to have more memory allocated to Excel, but Yosemite doesn't provide any way for the user to interact with the memory management process. I have also experienced the very same problem on my MacBook Pro that runs Yosemite. I have worked file/path name length issues, closely inspected the macros that normally don't run except when activated with a user pressed button, and made sure I don't have any weird links within the workbook or even links to another file outside the workbook. This problem seems to get worse as a continue to fill up the spread sheet with more financial data. This Excel workbook is used to manage my club's finances; I am the club treasurer. I have searched the internet for clues about similar problems and have found none!
My iMac is a 27-inch, Late 2009 with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 Processor. It includes 16GB of 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM. The hard drive is a fussed 1TB rotating HD with 128 GB SSD. This hardware has been running for about 27 months. I am a very advanced Mac user that programs Excel and Filemaker and repairs Macs for others.

Given the caveat, have you tried reinstall of Office? Your MS Office 2011 may have become corrupted. After upgrading to Yosemite I had to reinstall my Office 2011. No crashes.
The current version of Office 2011 is 14.4.8.
First - find your Office 2011 install disc with the product key # - and only then remove Office according to MS instructions

Then Reinstall from DVD
Then enter your Product #
After successfully reinstalling Office 2011, update your Office product using the Software update within Office called Microsoft Update or going to the Help menu within Word or Excel or PowerPoint and select Update.
It may take a few times before you get to final upgrade to current Office version.
It should be 14.4.8 as of current date.

I am getting this error in my File Sender Communication Channel,
Error: javax.resource.ResourceException: --- Conversion of synchronous request from module chain ended with errors ---[Error:ID=2011;LEVEL=1] InhouseDocReader doSyntaxCheck() offset[239]: message structure error : segment CTA is not on the right position. DESCRIPTION: InhouseDocReader Warning: A Segment whitch does not match with the inputstructure was found during the syntax check and no other segment with a small error was found.
The message is a D96A_SLSRPT edifact message.
Are there any error in the message structure?

although the SAP note tells that you only need to install the plugin till R3 4.6 you must install it for a 4.7 R3 as well.
It is only automatically available with WebAs 6.40 R/3 systems.
We had the same problem with our 4.7 R3 but after installing the WP-PI 6.00 everything worked fine.
Be sure that users which should have access later to the UWL have sufficient backend rights. There are several RFC rights they need to have. (e.g. RFC rights for function groups SYST and SWK1)

Does Lion interfere with Excel 2011 language support for Korean, Chinese?

I was able to use Excel 2011 for several languages including Korean and Chinese when I was on Snow Leopard.
Now, after upgrading to Lion, I can't figure out how to get that functionality.
I have used the Microsoft Language Register to get the Japanese character set to appear correctly. What do I need to do to get the other character sets to appear?

I'm copying data out of a multi language database and pasting into excel. On Snow Leopard I was able to paste Korean and Chinese characters into excel. Now, I get a box with a small in the place of Chinese/Korean characters.
I'm sure this is a matter of just not having a setting set properly, but I can't find it and I can't find anything online about it.
