Excel 2010 reporting with Project Server 2013

Our company purchased SharePoint Server 2013 and Project Server 2013, mainly for the reporting/BI attributes. I read that the report templates, etc. that can be used by Project Server web app can only be accessed with Excel 2013?? Does that mean that our
group/customers have to upgrade to Excel 2013 to take advantage of the Excel Services? This is a huge deal. Can you please let me know as soon as possible? Yikes!! :-O

Hi,
As far as I know, Excel 2010 is still supported by Project Server 2013.

  • Baseline timephased data disappeared in MS Project 2013 with Project Server 2013!!!

    Hi,
    I am facing a very strange problem within a custom "task usage" view that I'
    ve created. In the right pane I have three timephased fields (work, baseline
    work and actual work). When I first add resources to tasks and save baseline
    everything works great and the baseline work data are distributed normally in
    the respective line next to the resource name and also in the summary tasks
    lines. A few days after saving and publishing the project to the Project
    Server 2013, I opened the project from the PrjProfessional and the timephased
    baseline data had disappeared. However, the total values of baseline work
    (shown in the respective column at the left pane) were all still there. In
    other words, I cannot see the distribution of baseline work into the timephased
    schedule. When I check the database the data is also gone (MSP_EpmAssignmentBaselineByDay table).
    This has a huge impact for the customer!
    If found a similar issue reported with Project 2007 --> http://www.44342.com/Microsoft-Project-f1227-t2482-p1.htm

    I think it is a known bug that Elli identified a few weeks ago. I don't know if there is a fix planned soon by MS.

    "An unknown error" has occurred in status report in project server 2013

    Hi,
    It would help if you could provide the ULS logs for this error, even the PWA queue error message. Then has it already been working before?
    Hope this helps,

  • Authentication of Excel reports in project server 2013

    Please consider below scenario and advise me what I have missed or may require changes
    I have configured Excel Services Account in my project server farm
    Excel reports are browsed fine
    Once Refresh All data is clicked end in an error :
    We couldn’t load the Data Model. This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.
    Access was denied by the external data source. The following connections failed to refresh:  xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    I have already given read permission on the application to the excel services account.
    What could be the issue and how can I resolve this?

  • Any Problem Running Office 2010 SP2 with Project Server 2010 SP1?

    We are running Project Server 2010 SP1 April 2013 CU and the desktop clients have now been upgraded to SP2 October 13 CU. We are having issues with projects in local cache showing as checked out when they are not actually checked out on the server. I was
    wondering if it is problematic to run the desktop client on a newer service pack than the server and if it could cause this type of issue?

    Hello, Aaron.
    The answer is YES, you'll probably have some issues.
    I would recommend:
    Downgrade clients to match Server's version
    Upgrade Server to SP2+October '13 CU
    And my preferred:
    Upgrade Server and clients to SP2 + '14 April CU

    Hi All
    I want to create critical path report for the completed path projects.As client would like to know at which stage they are at the time of particular duration.
    They want the milestones to be shown in that.
    I need custom fields to be shown in that report.
    Request you all to tell me the solution how to get custom fields and to work on this.
    Please guide me on this ASAP.Very emergency.......
    Thanks in Advance

    Sowjanya G

    Hi Souji,
    First we would need to know more about the report. Which one are you talking about? Is it the critical task from the "in progress" link in the report tab?
    If it is, after editing the report, you can in the right panel select any enterprise or local task custom fields:
    Here is a link for customizing Project 2013 reports:

  • SSRS reports corrupts Project Server 2013 Timeline

    Hi
    On a project site home page, I have several list views and a content editor linked to a javascript file to highlight some cells on those views. I also have a SSRS report and the Timeline on that same page.
    I've noticed that when the report finishes loading, it corrupts the timeline and removes the hightlighting of the cells:
    Before the report finishes loading:
    After report finishes loading:
    As you can see in the above pictures. Has anyone seen this issue before? Any ideas?

    Found the solution. In the report web part uncheck the box "Asynchronous Rendering". Hope this helps!

  • Excel Services for Project Server 2013 - Parameter

    I have an

    Using Excel Services connected to Project
    Server 2013. You can pass parameter
    by querystring to filter design?
    Torres

    Hello,
    You could add the Excel Services report to a PDP and filter it using a query string filter web part, example below:

  • Project Server 2013: customize JSGrid (Project Center, MyTasks, etc...) ?

    Hi,
    In Project Server 2010, it was possible to customize the JSGrid, thanks to the tutorial included in the SDK "Walkthrough:
    Customizing the PWA Ribbon and Accessing the JS Grid". It works really fine, and I used this possibility in many Project Server 2010 implementation for Customer.
    I would like to make it on Project Server 2013, but the same code doesn't work. I found some posts
    here, where people had the same issue, but no clear answer.
    The Project Server 2013 SDK does not contain the same tuto upgraded for 2013, and I hope that this possibility still exists.
    If somebody has a very basic example to show how to execute some custom code on Focus Change event, or clic, or what ever event happening on this JSGrid, it would be very nice to share.
    My installation is On Premise, not in On Line.
    Thank you for your help !
    Sylvain

    Hi,
    In fact for filtering, you have to use delegate.
    The "HandleFilter" function must be created by you. You have to bind this function to the correct delegate.
    For filtering, the main delegates are:
    SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.AutoFilter
    SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.LaunchFilterDialog
    SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.GetAutoFilterEntries
    The post
    here explains the process for 2010. For Project Server 2013, the difference is that we don't have the same objects.
    Here you can find the way to declare the delegate in Project Server 2013, with the SetDelegate method:
    var pc; // Contains the Project Center extension object.
    var JsGridControlInstance;
    var JsGridSatellite;
    _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("ProjectCenterMain");
    function ProjectCenterMain() {
    pc = new ProjectCenterExtension();
    function ProjectCenterExtension() {
    if (typeof projectCenterComponent === 'undefined')
    return;
    JsGridSatellite = projectCenterComponent.get_GridSatellite();
    JsGridControlInstance = projectCenterComponent.get_GridSatellite().GetJsGridControlInstance();
    JsGridSatellite.get_tableViewParameters().bAutoFilterableColumns = true;
    JsGridControlInstance.SetDelegate(SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.AutoFilter, HandleFilter);
    JsGridControlInstance.SetDelegate(SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.LaunchFilterDialog, FilterDialog);
    JsGridControlInstance.SetDelegate(SP.JsGrid.DelegateType.GetAutoFilterEntries, FilterMenu);
    function HandleFilter(newState) {
    alert("Filter !");
    function FilterDialog(param) {
    alert("FilterDialog !");
    function FilterMenu(param) {
    alert("FilterMenu !");
    My advice to search, is to put a break point on the ProjectCenterExtension function, and through debugger, tou can drill down in the main methods and properties.
    Often you will see functions with get_XYZ(), and then be able to make the matching with the Project Server 2010 syntax.
    For the filtering implementation, I beleive that you can deal with your article based on 2010: it should work as soon as you will get the equivalent objects in 2013.
    Hope it helps !

  • PowerView In Project Server 2013 is not working

    Hi All,
    I am working on environment with Project Server 2013. In report part i am not able to see or view only power view reports.
    I am testing this with default report provided by Microsoft, where other reports (power pivot) are working fine.
    My power view report is not showing any error, it is simply gets opened as blank sheet.
    Quick replies and help will be appreciated.
    Note: I have installed silver light latest version too.
    Thanks
    Abbas

    I am also experiencing issues with this.  After the approval task is completed, the Workflow gets cancelled with the following message
    RequestorId: 60d96368-4cb4-b059-8086-604972a92e60. Details: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary. at Microsoft.Activities.Hosting.Runtime.Subroutine.SubroutineChild.Execute(CodeActivityContext context)
    at System.Activities.CodeActivity.InternalExecute(ActivityInstance instance, ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager bookmarkManager) at System.Activities.Runtime.ActivityExecutor.ExecuteActivityWorkItem.ExecuteBody(ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager
    bookmarkManager, Location resultLocation)
    All other desired workflow actions work as expected.  Emails are sent, project is moved from stage to stage, however as soon as the workflow approval task is completed, either Approved or Rejected, the Internal Status is changed to Canceled and the
    workflow fails.
    What is interesting is when the Approval task is completed, the approver will receive an email notification that the task was CANCELLED or DELETED....
    not COMPLETED, which is what would be expected.
    Has anyone seen this - any potential resolution?

  • Project Server 2013 Work Flow

    Hi All,
    We planed to have as simple workflow for project, which will go through initiation, planning , execution and monitoring and closure. Is there any easy way to configure this or we need to develop the workflow using visual studio.
    Thanks in advance, taj

    Hi Taj,
    With PS2013, it is now possible to build workflow using SharePoint Designer that requires less/no code than with Visual Studio with PS2010.

  • Project Server 2013 reporting database change in Schema from Project Server 2010

    I have a current Project Server 2010 implementation, I am planning to migrate to Project Online.
    We have Customized Reports that consume from the PS 2010 Reporting DB.
    Are there differences in the Reporting DB schema  between PS 2010 and Project Online?
    My Question is: if we migrated to Project Online, will the reports crash?
    Another question is that, is PS 2013 Reporting DB schema the same as Project Online?

    Hi Atia,
    IN project server 2013 we have only one database instead of 4, it means draft, archive, published and reporting with in one database.Project Server 2013 reporting database schema tool that can be downloaded.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2013/01/28/project-server-2013-reporting-database-rdb-schema-reference.aspx
    There are differences in reporting of on-premises vs. Project Online
    The Project Server 2013 reporting schema includes three new tables, 27 new views, and a total of 33 tables and views that include new fields.
    Answer-1 : Yes there are some differences between PS 2010 and project Online.
    Answer-2 : Reports will crash as In Project Online you have to use ODATA to create report. You can not query project online data for reporting directly you have to have use ODATA.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj163015.aspx
    Answer-3 : NO, PS 2013 Schema and Project online Schema is different.

  • Can't open Project Server 2013 word documents with office 2010 installed

    hello forum members,
    we having issues opening a word document in a Project Server 2013 . we have Office 2010 on our computers installed.
    when I click on a document link, i get a message "The webpage cannot be displayed".  the only way to open a document is to right click on link and select "Open".
    Does Project Server 2013 require Office 2013 installed? If not, is there a way to open documents in Project Server 2013 without right clicking on links?
    tatiana
    tatiana

    Hi Tatiana,
    This is the know issue. I have experienced this issue with one of our client. The cause of issue as below -
    Scenario
    You have 2007 Microsoft Office installed on a computer.
    On the same computer, you also have a Microsoft Office 2013 application installed, such as Microsoft Lync 2013 or Microsoft Word 2013.
    SOLUTION
    To work around this issue, remove the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support program component from the Office 2013
    installation on the affected computer or computers. To do this, follow the “Install or remove individual Office program components” section of the following Microsoft Office website:
    Install or remove individual Office
    programs and components
    (http://office.microsoft.com/redir/HA010354261.aspx)
    After you complete these steps, repair 2007 Office. For more information about how to repair the installation, click
    the following article number to go to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    924611
    (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924611/ )
    How to install the individual 2007 Office features or to repair the installed 2007 Office programs
    Note When
    you follow these steps, set the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support
    component within Office Tools to Not Available.
    This solution doesn't apply to scenarios in which SharePoint Designer 2013 is installed on the affected computer.
    You can find further details here at Microsoft support site -

    Hope this helps you.

  • Project Server 2013 Default Pivot Excel report

    Hi All,
    We have configured the default excel report available in the BI Center. When we open the project overview report and select the project names we are getting the below error. But when we open the report in excel it is working fine. I have followed the steps
    in the below post, but still same issue.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/excel_services__powerpivot_for_sharepoint_support_blog/archive/2013/01/31/powerpivot-for-sharepoint-browser-refresh-fails-data-refresh-not-supported-in-office-web-apps.aspx
    Thanks in advance, Taj

    Hello. The ODATA reports will not refresh / update in Excel Services when using Project Server on-premise, open these in Excel client to update. ODATA reports will refresh in Excel Services in Project Online (office 365). If on-premise, use either the
    OLAP cube or the Reporting schema database tables / views as the data source in the Excel reports if you these to be refreshable in the web. Paul
