Exclude cost elements from settlements

Hi,
we are trying to run a settlement from WBS to AuC. When running the settlement we receive error KD503 ( 'Complete allocation structure &'). We have postings on the WBS of which some are relevant for capitalization and some are not. We excluded the cost elements not relevant for capitalization from the allocation structure.
Is there any way to run a summary settlement and to exclude specific cost elements?
regards, simon

Hi Simonderine,
Check all the debited cost elements on WBSE are included or not for capitalizing and for settlemenet to Cost center as per your Allocation structure mentioned in the settlement profile.
Make sure that all cost elements should be included in the allocation structure.
This error is mainly occurs, if any one of the cost element with debit entry at WBS Element level is not included in the allocation structure, whether it may be settled to AUC or CC as per your business requirement.
Hope this helps you !!

  • Results analysis: any way to exclude certain cost element from calculation?

    Hi everyone!
We are implementing Results Analysis for projects. But the client is asking if there is a way to exclude some cost elements of the results analysis calculation. We are using method 07, POC based in the project milestones.
This is why they need this. They say that very often they they have costs higher to what they should be according to the month's billing. So they need to send the corresponding part to a WIP account. But not all the costs. They have internal costs (like the hours of internal resources) and external costs (like materials procurement or external services contracts). They only want to send to WIP the exceeding external costs. But leave all the internal costs in a cost account. So to do this we need to exclude these kind of cost elements (secondary cost elements) from the results analysis calculation. Is there any way to do this? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Thalos.

    Hi,
In OKG4, next to Line ID there is a field where you can set "N" which means not to include. Make this settinng for required cost elements / Line ID's and then test the changes.

  • Accessibility, exclude UI elements from the Tab-chain

    Hi,
I have a complex UI which is very uncomfortable to access with the Tab key when using sap-accesssibility=true parameter. The main problem are the many transparent containers, which are necessary to create the refined composition of the UI. They get focused when the Tab key is pressed and this is completely useless. I there a way to exclude UI elements from the Tab-chain?
    Best regards,
    Krasimir

    Hi,
    I have same prolem here.
In my UI I am using mastercolumn for expand /collapse functionality in parent - child node .
The problem is the keyboard tab-chain is skipping the master column which makes it a accessibility issue.
Is there any way we can include/exclude UI elements from tab chain.
    My NWDS version is 7.0.10.

  • Cost rates maintained in ERP system and cost elements from PPM 5.0

    Hello experts,
I will appreciate it if  you could help me with this subject below.
I want to search in ERP system what cost rates are maintained for each approved worked hour in PPM system. But, I do not know where should I look for this.
I take a look on the report of the created internal order:
You can see, that the actual posting of 25.000 is booking in the ERP PROD system on cost element IT-HOURS
When I display the booked working times I find 5 Hours taht I booked on my personnel number on Internal Order :
I want to know where in the system  is  maintained the cost rate that calculates automatically the 5 hours booked on cost element IT-HOURS to 25.000 . So each hour costs 5.000. I want to change the amount of each hour from 5000 to 50.
I’m not an ERP expert so I don’t know where such rate can be maintained in ERP. I need your expert help!
    Thanks a lot,
    Ruxandra P.

    Hi Ruxandra!
You have to distinguish plan costs from actual costs. By doing time confirmation (e.g. via CATS) on your internal order the system posts actual costs.
Using the Role concept of PPM (role-based or task-based) you are dealing (generally spoken) with plan costs. Derived from your entry message I suppose you are already using accounting integration.
Accounting Integration is a big topic, that is very difficult to generally describe in a posting. Please have a look to the general information in help.sap.com => General Information About Accounting Integration - SAP Portfolio and Project Management - SAP Library
Please beware: There are many accounting integration scenarios, therefore there are several aspects and places to maintain cost/revenu rates. On the PPM UI you have the possibility to maintain differing cost/revenu-rates per role/task.The rates in general (plan and actuals) are maintained in KP26.
Also have a look to your business partner (role-based scenario), if there is a cost/revenu rate.
For time confirmation you can have a look to PA30 => infotype 0315 for your CATS suggestion values (activity type, costcenter, etc...).
Please come back with any detailed questions, you would like to have answered.

  • COPA- Cost-Based Chagning KSTAR(Cost Element) from technical to fixed field

    In the PA module-
What are the implications with modifying the COPA field catalog in table v_tkef. That is changing a technical field (T) into a fixed characteristic or alternatively modifying the function module rke_external_data_get to allow technical fields to do the same functionality as B, S, U, or V.
    B- Basic key figure
    D- Dimension (characteristic)
    F- Fixed characteristic
    K- Key figure
    S- Fixed basic key figure
    T- Technical field
    U- Unit
    V- Fixed unit
    Details of Issue-
We are using Cost-based COPA and there a requirement to post actual and plan documents by cost element in PA. However Cost element (KSTAR) is a technical field in cost based COPA.
We would like the implications of modifying the field characteristics of KSTAR from technical to Fixed characteristic and setup the KSTAR as a characteristic within the Operating Concern.
Your answers will be helpful in knowing the implications, feasibility and recommendations.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi,
YOu are making that kink on CJIC where you can assign fix asset to WBS , before doing that you needs to check procured items agaist that particular WBS(on CJI3) & get create fix asset. To my knowledge that is the standard way to link fix asset & WBS rather than having ABAP validation.

  • Excluding closed Projects from settlements

    Hi,
    Please help
I have created a collective variant to run settlemets for a particular company code. The problem I get is that some of the Projects have closed, therefore I get an error message that says Project closed, I can not run it.
I have closed the project because it is now capitalised.
What I need to know is why are my closed projects incorporated as part of my settlements, should they not be automatically excluded since they are closed?
And how can I exclude them from the run?
    Thanks,
    Regards
    PS PS

    Hi.
When you create a variant for CJ88 or CJ8G, ensure that Project /WBS / Network is not selected. This will create problem as one you got and miss the new project/ WBS to be settled.
You can simply edit the variant by removing these object and save. Next time you shall not face the problem.
    Hope this helps

  • Production Order - Segregating Costs for different cost elements.

    Hi Experts,
I am a QM Key User and have been asked to look into improving our current Non-conformance / re-work process.
My plan is to include the rework operations within the original PP01 Production Order.
    So far:
Three Work Centres have been created:
    1. NCRTEST u2013 1st WC to collect hours
    2. NCRTEST2 u2013 2nd WC to collect hours
    3. NCROUTSO u2013 To collect costs associated with outsource operations i.e. weld repair, shaft straightening.
    NCR-02: Activity Type Created
    Two new control keys created
    1. NC01: Confirmation of hours
    2. NC02: Outsource operations (requisition generated)
    NCRTEST-CC: Cost Centre Created
The Price Planning for Cost Centre/Activity has been specified (KP26 and KPB6)
Two new Cost Elements have been created:
    1. 43001201 u2013 Costs associated with the outsource operation
    2. 94301021 u2013 NCR Labour Hour Costs
On a test production order we have managed to isolate the NCR hours to cost element 94301021 and the outsource operation costs to 43001201; however these costs are automatically settling to the production order material which then settle to the WBS (that is my understanding).
Is there any way of stopping the costs associated with the two cost elements from settling to the Production Order material? The costs cannot be settled this way as my intention, is for a new development which allocate the costs to the relevant notification QM Order.
The QM Order will then be settled in the normal way. Settling the production order and the QM order will result in duplicate costs.
I am not sure if this is a possible solution but is it possible for a negative cost to automatically post to the production order material for the two cost elements. The production order value would be correct and the QM Order could be posted as normal.
    Thanks in Advance
    Ben

    Hi,
I would expect that the costs get settled to the material only when you settle the production order to the receiver material. I don't think that happens automatically....it will have to be done explicitely

  • Settlement cost element

    Dear All,
I have settlement defined in pa transfer structure, if at the same time I have more than 1 cost element to settle to different value field in copa, can the secondary cost element in settlement able to settle 2 or 3 different cost element to value field accordingly?
example, i have cogs $500, freight $400 and sales $2000 cost element.
then in settlement i have a sce, this sce will have $1100. can this sce settle these 3 element to value field respectively in copa?
    Thanks

    Hi!
define different assignments for each category and then assign source cost elements to them.
then give value fields and select second option 2- variable amounts field, define differnt field.

  • Settle internal order to primary cost element

    Hi all,
We use internal orders to collect costs for cars. We differentiate between fuel and maintenance costs. Both cost elements are set up being primary cost elements. When settling the internal order costs are settled using a secondary cost element. What do I need to change and where do I have to change this to have the cost settled against the original, primary cost elements (fuel/maintenance)?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards, Paul

    Hi,
    Check the setting
    Controlling ->Internal Orders ->Actual Postings->Settlement->Maintain Allocation Structures.
& also check the settlement profile.

  • Use of cost element as a fixed characteristic in PA?

    Hi,
How the cost element is used from CE1XXXX table in Profitability Analysis reporting?
If you are using cost center assessments, the last cost element in settlement document is used as reference cost element to post a PA document in CEXXXX table. Why the last cost element is used?
    Thanks

When you do COPA assessements they use a secondary cost element you specify in each cycle segment. It shows in CO as an offset to the original amount. On the COPA side it creates a posting to that same cost element in the value field you designate. These entries form a profitability segmant in COPA which is COPA's way of indexing the entries. I am not sure why you say the last cost element because the sender pulls what you designate by segment and the receiver gets what you send based on the secondary cost element and value fields.
pls assign points to say thanks.

  • When not to create cost elements for P&L accounts? Implications?

I noticed some P&L gl accounts are not created as cost elements eg. R&D expense, COGS (posted during SD delivery), sales (posted during SD billing), freight charges, production variance (posted during prod.order settlement), etc.. I'm thinking if cost elements are not created, FI and CO will not reconcile.
Example of our SD delivery posting :
    Debit   COGS (sales order assignment)
    Credit    Stock
From above posting, there is amount posted to COGS gl account but no CO assignment except for sales order. Is there supposed to be a follow-up to this posting to reconcile FI with CO ? Or is our setup wrong?
Fyi we do not use CO-PA.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Sorry, I probably confused things by mentioning Revenue. Your settings are correct, with Revenue defined as a revenue element (11) rather than a cost element (1).
With respect to WIP (P&L), I would create it as a cost element, since it represents the absorption of cost centre costs and materials into the production of goods, even though the goods are not yet complete. When the goods are completed they will be credited in CO-OM and debited to stock using a similar entry. The impact of these credits (to WIP or to Stock) is to move costs out of CO-OM into the goods produced (CoGS). In CO-OM, the net result of Costs less credits to WIP/Stock, indicates the efficiency of your cost centres or the accuracy of your standards.
I would also create the manufacturing variance accounts as Cost Elements and settle them back to your production costs centres (or possibly CO-PA if you used it), since they are also a reflection of the efficiency of your cost centres - i.e. if a Cost Centre manager is not achieving the standards, (s)he should be accountable for the variance, and if you are concerned about reconciling CO-OM and the costs in P&L, you won't reconcile if the variances aren't posted back to CO.

  • G/L account & cost element

Pls. clarify how G/L account & cost element is utilized in case of PM orders i.e. actually how these two relate to costing in PM orders.

    Hi,
Basically Cost Elements are Cost Carriers. Cost elements enable you to break down the cost associated with one cost bucket into more granular entities.
    Primary Cost Element:
When cost element carriers cost between FI and CO they are called Primary, the link is established GL A/c = Cost element(Primary). Primary cost elements are like materail costs, personnel costs, energy costs... where a corresponding GL account exists in FI..to allow costs to flow...
    Secondary Cost Element :
When cost element carries cost with in CO, then they are called secondary cost element.
Secondary cost elements are like production costs, material overheads, production overheads, they can be created and administered in only CO.  These are used in internal cost allocation, overhead calculation, settlement transactions., it does not flow to FI...
    Plant Maintenance:
Cost Elements will be linked to Value Categories. Based on that, costs will be calculated for the PM Order. Cost element creation is based on Business Requirements. For Example, if you want to see the Material Cost (without considering whether internal or external), one cost element will be defined. If you want to see the same separately, 2 different cost elements should be defined. This is apllicable for labor category as well (Internal or External).
In turn, based on cost element assignment under Allocation Structures, settlement will be done on those cost elements. In Allocation structures, Source cost elements & Settlement cost elements will be defined. Based on that, while doing order settlement, costs will be posted to concern cost elements from cost objects (Orders).

  • Cost Element Error during Activity Confirmation

    Hi,
We are using assembly processing to create projects. After project is created, a requirement arises and we manually assign few internal activities in CJ20N. When we do like that, a cost element gets picked automatically in the cost element field of External TAB along with Purchase Org & purchase group though it is an internal activity. This doesnt happen in already created activities during automatic creation.
We don't need the system to bring these values for cost element, purchase org. & group. We are not using this cost element anywhere. In network profile cost element field is blank.
So whenever we confirm the activity it throws an error message. CK197, G/L account for company code / costelement does not exist.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi, Rahul,
Have your system is gone for any recent upgrade for EHP4 ?
This error is due to EHP4 please implement following said notes
    1285728, 1277967.
And after that remove the cost element from activities present in external tab which are created before not implementation which are giving error.
    revert after resolving the issue.

  • Cost center, cost element and asset

    Hi Experts,
      a) What is a cost element?
      b) Is there any link between the cost center and the cost element
      c) How can I tie a cost element to an asset?
    Thank you,
    Raneetha Weerasinghe.
    Moderator: Avoid asking basic questions

    Hi ,
First and foremost thing , a cost element is the shodow account of all the Expense / Revenue nathure P&L accounts in CO i.e controlling . There are no B/S type accounts which are created as cost elements . Primary cost elements are P&L GL accounts which are created in chart of account and in CO you call them as cost elements , they have to be created in CO
Secondly , In a cost element you can porovide the default cost center as to where it will post like if you have created cost element 1 then you can say that cost element 1 would always post to cost center 1 . else when there is a posting to be made in P&L account type GL then you will have to provide a cost objet which can be cost center .
Thirdly assets to cost elements , that would be used in IMG setting only when you have the P & L type accounts for depn. , write off revenue / loss etc. there you mention those GL accounts and system derives the cost element from there .
In the 3 rd Question what is the exact requirement please elaborate .
    Hope this helps .
