Execute x secs. & close VI from VB 5.0
Hi all,
I want to run a VI script from a VB program, and close it after x secs.
(where x depends from the user input in the VB exe). I tried it with the
following code (according to an example found in the doc):
vi.FPWinOpen = False 'Close front panel
Set vi = Nothing
lvapp.Quit
Set lvapp = Nothing
but ... the VI doesn't close.
What's wrong ? (I have no knowledge about LabView, and not a lot in VB too
.... ¦=)
Any help well appreciated !
tia, Markus
Hi again,
since I got no answer (and my posting is moving slowly down in the group
- is there a special group for this kind of problems ?
- is the question simply too stupid ?
- or just nobody ever did something like call LabView from VB ?
Maybe it's much easier to include the functions directly via some DLL's (I
think I saw somewhere an example ...) ?
I really appreciates every hint, or some other source indications ...
Thanks again, Markus

TestStand close notification from a DLL
How can I get a close notification from TestStand to my loaded DLL? I would like to have a message/notification from TestStand that it is in progress of shutdown, before it does FreeLibrary() on my DLL. This is to ensure that I always do a clean exit.
Alternatively; can I have TestStand call a function inside my DLL before doing FreeLibrary?You can use the dll entry point DLL_PROCESS_DETACH in your DLL which is executed each time teststand unloads your DLL. See also http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms682583.aspx
In Teststand you can define when your DLL should be unloaded in the Step Properties of your C/C++ Prototype Adapter -> Run Options -> Unload Options. The Dll is also unloaded if Teststand shuts down.
If you use CVI you can insert the code needed with:
Edit->Insert Construct ->DLLMain
This is what you get:
#include <cvirte.h>
int __stdcall DllMain (HINSTANCE hinstDLL, DWORD fdwReason, LPVOID lpvReserved)
switch (fdwReason)
case DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH:
if (InitCVIRTE (hinstDLL, 0, 0) == 0)
return 0; /* out of memory */
break;
case DLL_PROCESS_DETACH:
//here you can enter your clean up code: FreeLibrary(..)
CloseCVIRTE ();
break;
return 1; -

Hi
I recently downloaded the new Firefox (Firefox 4, I think - you can tell I'm very tech savvy!) and it constantly freezes, I can't do anything with it at all - I can't even close it from the icon in my Mac dock bar.
I have tried restarting my computer - though I have to turn it off by using the power button as as Firefox is open and totally unresponsive it won't let me shut down. About a minute after re-starting Firefox, restoring my tabs or starting afresh, it freezes again.
This is obviously very annoying and I'm not sure what I can do about it. Firefox is my preferred browser, and I'd really like to be able to use it again!This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%
Activity Monitor 0.9%
Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6. -
OS-Win 7 Home Edition
When I close Firefox 29 (just installed) the firefox.exe *32 process remains active and I must close it from task manager.
Otherwise when I try to run it again I get the message:
"Firefox is already running but not responding. To open a new window you must first close ...."
No such problem with previous version 28
Regards
RiccardoFor those that have the problem after the update or after changing the ''seer'' preference please set Firefox to NOT delete history at closedown
# Use new Button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] -> Preferences -> <br />|Privacy|Firefox will : [Remember History v]
# Does that help and allow you to restart ok ?
* Note
*# You should be able to open and use Private Browsing Windows ok still. You may need to close those windows before closing down Firefox though. <br />See [[Private Browsing - Browse the web without saving information about the sites you visit]]
*# This hang or close down issue is a known bug in Firefox 29 that has yet to be fixed. With luck it may be fixed in the next Firefox version. <br /> Note the known issues mentioned in <br /> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/29.0.1/releasenotes/ -

It will provide a better understanding.
Look at the INTERVAL procedure.That's not really correct.
The dbms_job package is the "old" way of scheduling jobs.
Since 10g the dbms_scheduler package has superceded that and is the preferred option, as well as it offering greater flexibility. dbms_job is only kept for backwards compatibility. -

How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon
Dear all,
I am working with a SAP how to paper, which is called:
How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon.
It is working absolutely fine and I am pretty satisfied, but as you probably know "Control the visibility of a button based on the visibility of a related crosstab: the button just disappears once the related crosstab is not located on the active sheet."
This means, when I insert different queries in different crosstabs, only one crosstab will have my own created ribbon. Is it also possible to set another specific ribbon with other buttons for another crosstab? Can I change the macro, included in the appendix of the how to paper, regarding this issue?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
Dominik DrebingerHey Martin,
thanks for your reply, but I solved the problem on my own. Unfortunately my colleague did not see that the crosstabs had to be defined differently.
Like this:
Label
Screentip
Msolmage name
Crosstab name
Copy Initial Aligned
Copy Initial Aligned
CacheListData
SAPCrosstab1
Copy Initial Aligned
Copy Initial Aligned
CacheListData
SAPCrosstab3
Copy Initial Aligned
Copy Initial Aligned
CacheListData
SAPCrosstab5
The macro, provided by the HowTo, is therefore working perfectly fine.
Thanks though

How to call up an executable file (eg. MSPaint) from within my java program
Ummm... why would you want to get MSPaint anyway? Even in the absense of real software, Java's own graphics tools are way more sophisticated - with a little time and effort, you could write a simple paint package that beat MSPaint hands down.

Execute a Linux konsole command from Java
Hy,I am having problems when trying to execute a command for konsole from java.
This is a part of my code
try {
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("konsole");
catch (IOException ex) {ex.printStackTrace();}this code opens the Linux konsole ; is the a method to append a command for Linux from java??
ThanksOK
this is what I am trying to do : by pressing a button
in a JFrame I want to start Snort (the exact command
is snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf )
What I want is the following: I press that button
and the Konsole in Linux opens and that command to
be executed I would just use the Process.getInputStream() method to retrieve what Snort said and display that in a JTextArea or something... why bother launching it in a terminal?
I don't know if Snort is a daemon or what... if it's a daemon, you're not going to get much output from it... it'll fork itself into the background and exit.
If it isn't a daemon, then you can either just redirect the output to a file, a la:
konsole snort /etc/snort/snort.conf > /tmp/snort.outand do a "tail" sort of monitoring on the file. You could also just keep that process up in a different thread, and use a timer to periodically update the output into a JTextArea (this would also allow you to be notified when the process ended). Finally, you could wrap your command in a script and execute it that way. -

The addon have 'commit' multiple times.
I am using "RFC_CALL_TRANSACTION_USING" from VBA.
but, addon is finished by one commitment processing.
I want to execute a addon continuously after having committed it.
like a "Cont.after commit" of Recoding parameters of SHDB.
Please give me advice other methods or other Function Module.
best regards.Thank you for an answer.
SLIN understands it with a syntax check of the addon.
It is a program practice method from VBA to want to know me.
Would you give me any advice ?
