Fake Apple link

Just to let you know that I have received a mail from supposedly Apple saying that I have made an app purchase from iTunes and if I think that it is not me I should click a link to cancel it. The mail seems to be an exact copy of the Apple iTunes invoice and the link goes to a very similar website to enter Apple ID and credit card CVC number. When you look at the link address it is something like https://aplle.xxxxxx (you saw it right "aplle") but the site looks exactly like Apple iTunes ID enter page... Except the credit card CVC request.
The link is http://ow.ly/Ht6gb
So be aware you all... This is how the mail looks like. For your own safety do not click the link just in case. This is to inform Apple about this potential scam...

Down in the lower right corner is links for sending feedback. I'd just send them feedback and they can forward it to the appropriate department.
You could also call your local better business bureau and turn them in. If it's a matter of false advertising then you may get a faster response alerting local authorities.

  • Safari will no longer open.  I was using firefox until I could find a fix for safari.  I made the mistake of changing my default search to firebox later for convenience and now I can't open my system preference or many safari or apple linked files.

Safari will no longer open. It just goes back to my desktop.  When I right click on the safari icon in my dashboard it says it is open.  I was using firefox until I could find a fix for safari.  I made the mistake of changing my default search to firebox later for convenience and now I can't open my system preference or many safari or apple linked files. Some of my emails from trusted sites won't open and does the same thing.
I upgraded my original system from 10.4.11 to I believe 10.6. something about a year or so ago.  I thought about re installing my safari app but when I go to open anything connected to safari my screen goes back to the desktop.  I cant open any files that I have on my desktop that I set up through safari, like my banking program. Prior to changing system preference to safari default I was able to open those files and now I can't get into change it back.  Can you guide me through this?
    Thanks,
    Betty

Try running the 10.6.8 combo update.
    10.6.8 Combo Updater
    System Preferences or Safari Preferences?
    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • FYI - Apple link to RAMJET offers decent 1 GB SO-DIMM price

I've been buying RAM from RAMJET these days as it is linked to from Apple's web site at http://guide.apple.com/index.lasso and when at the RAMJET site the PB 17" 1 Gig DDR2 SO-DIMM is selling for $94. This is a sudden price drop from $117 only last week.
I've just bought 2x 1Gig from RAMJET via this link and it's working flawlessly in my new 17" PB (Hi Res) with 100gig HD @ 7200 RPM running 10.3.4. It sure made a big difference in system responsiveness going from 512MB to 2GB physical memory size.
BTW - you cannot get this $94 price at RAMJET unless you get to it from the Apple link given above.

This an FYI and wasn't a question - sorry.

  • Testing adobe air applications with fake apple certificate in iOS simulator running in a hackintosh

I can compile an Adobe Air application on windows with a fake apple certificate. Can I test this application in iOS Simulator running on a hackintosh? Or is the simulator blocking testing of IPA outside from XCode ie: it's not a standalone simulator for IPA files. Are there any affordable web service for testing IPA with a true emulator or real device? I'm asking this because Flash Builder doesn't provide a true simulator, it lacks essential API functions such as NativeWindow.

    Hello,
thanksk so far. I can now create an ANE, hopefully it is correct...
Now, while trying to use it in my mobile application, calling the Constructor of my SWC interface > call initNativeExtension() I get an:
Type Error #1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
It seems that my code cannot load the ANE because I cannot instatiate the extension object.
    Can you help me ?

  • Been scammed into buying fake Apple Accessories

    Hello,
I bought Apple products from a website that offered me 20% off, I got my products and there all fake. The website is down (or removed) and there is no email or phone.
I bought the following: Apple In-Ear Headphones, AV Composite Cable that won't connect to my iPhone, and an Apple Charger won't charge my iPhone or iPod.
Can Apple help me at all?
I looked at them and they are literally cloned with Apple's copyright information, I figured out it was fake by identifying Chinese writing on the box and looking at online images.
    Images of the fakes:

**Press the Older button to see more pictures I took of all the products**
If that link fails here is another:

Can Apple help me at all?
How? Being an educated consumer is your best protection. You've heard the old saying "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." haven't you?

  • Deleting a fake Apple ID

    Guys
It seems someone created an account (the one I have used to log into forums) using my domain name. I didnt create it and Ive received a notification that someone used it to signinto their iphone 5.
How can I report this account as a fake account so taht it cannot be used. I have used apple reset functioanlity to change its password so that whoever logged in cannot use it. But I want to delete it. How can I do so

Before you do anything else, make sure that you did not succumb to a phishing scam. If you changed that Apple ID password using Apple's website then you're OK, but if you clicked a link in the email and supplied your password to a fraudulent site that would be bad. Hopefully you did not do that.
Assuming you changed your Apple ID password correctly, you are correct, no one else can use it, but I understand your desire to stop further attempts. The only way to address that situation would be to contact iTunes Store Support using the phone number in Contact Us.
There really isn't any way of preventing someone else from attempting to use any random string of characters for an Apple ID. If you are the owner of that random string of characters, you get the email. Eventually the person attempting to use it will realize the futility of doing so and give up.
For this reason, it is sometimes best to change your Apple ID. I understand your reluctance to do that since you're using your domain name, but that only makes it a more attractive target. Obscurity has its advantages.

  • Fake apple emails requesting verification

I have received an email purporting to be from apple, informing me that my billing address had been changed, that my appleID was being frozen unless I confirmed my authenticity and they included the link below, which at first was an address ending in 'au' and suddenly changed to the one I'm pasting below:
    http://appie-login.appie-ld.co.uk.support.reply.location-24.lyliangame.com/scgi- bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/directToSignInlocalang=en_us/uk/
I think this is fake.  Is it possible to check whether it is so or not because the email was a typical apple email but something did not sound right.
    Many thanks

You can tell it's a fake because the link goes to "lyliangame.com". Apple would use no domain other than their own, even if they sent such an email, something which they never would. You can learn how to identify future phishing messages here:

  • Fake Apple iTunes emails

Recently I've been spammed a lot with fake emails saying they're from apple with the request to change my iTunes/iCloud password or to login to check some details.
As I'm a professional IT dude I love to check how those scam things work.. and guess what.. I've found out that the server the email was sent from and linked to was not secured.. i've got (webFTP) access to it and was able to browse all files..
The thing is.. Most of those emails link to look-a-like webpages where u can log in and are redirected to the official apple website..
Between the login and redirection, your account details are emailed to some email adres..
Dear Apple, it's your task now to perform extra steps.  you've now got the website IP, user email,..
    IP: 198.58.92.228
    website owner: <edited by host>
passwords are emailed to: <edited by host>

As Stedman1 says but also read the following notes from Apple.   They will alert you to the various other kinds of approach, too.  Never click on a link if you are not sure of the sender.
