Fextread32 fails in Tux 9.0 on Win XP Pro SP 2

I have been checking out the new Tuxedo 9.0 release with a small test setup that worked fine with 8.1 on Win XP Pro, but gives a problem running on 9.0 - a native client crashes on a Fextread32 resulting in the message:
"<clientprogramname>.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
(followed by an invitation to submit the problem to Microsoft!).
The only OS difference is that I am now using XP pro SP2. Does anyone have any words of wisdom regarding this before I open a case with Support? (It appears that the server also crashes on a Fwrite32 - can't say for sure as I haven't researched this yet).
(I am aware that the reference docs for these functions state that they may not be used in a /WS client, but I have used a native client. There seems to be a certain similarity with an earlier problem described in the thread "10 minute delay on Windows XP" - in a response Todd Little mentioned that XP Pro is not certified to run as a Tuxedo node executing BBL, etc. If this is the reason for the above problem then it is a bit unfortunate - I'm sure I am not alone in using the Windows XP Pro platform (which is our company standard for a laptop) for prototyping Tuxedo solutions!)
Thanks & best regards,
Malcolm.

The version of the Microsoft compiler supported by Tuxedo has changed
between Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0.
The original Tuxedo 8.1 release on Windows 2000 required Visual C/C++ 6.0
SP4 or compatible. Libraries compatible with VC.net were provided as
downloads at a later date.
Tuxedo 9.0 on Windows 2003 and on Windows XP requires VC.net 2003
Professional.
This is important because Microsoft has changed the implementation of the
stdio library between compiler versions. The two APIs in which your program
is crashing both use FILE pointers that are allocated in the application and
then referenced in Tuxedo. The FILE structure has changed in newer
Microsoft compiler versions, and a FILE pointer allocated in one compiler
version cannot be used by a library linked with another compiler version.
BEA wrote the following compatibility description some time ago:
All existing Tuxedo Windows product binaries (DLLs) [for release 8.1 and
earlier] were built using either VC 5 or VC 6 , or some combination when a
Tuxedo certification involved testing of older binaries on new Windows
platforms. Because of binary compatibility support on Windows in the past,
Microsoft fully supported the "co-mingling" of older VC binaries with newer
version of the compiler (i.e. VC 5 with VC 6). However, MS has recently
stated that their support for VC 6 runtime in a VC.net environment
(co-mingled environment containing both a VC 6 runtime (Tux DLL) and a .Net
runtime (application built using VC.net)) is limited to invocations of
system APIs that do not span across both runtime libraries (ie objects must
be managed by it's own runtime libraries). For example, memory space
allocated via a malloc() call in one runtime library(e.g. VC 6) cannot be
released by a free() call in another runtime library (e.g. .Net 2003).
Based on BEA's own investigations and tests, the following issues have been
identified for Tuxedo applications in the co-mingled environment using VC
.Net:
1. If a Tuxedo application compiled with VC.net performs writes using
buffered IO library functions (e.g. fprintf) via a FILE handle (including
stdout, and stderr) and calls a Tuxedo function that also writes to the same
FILE handle, the output may not appear in same order as written. A similar
behavior occurs on input. This happens because separate buffers are used to
buffer the input and output in the two versions of the C runtime library.
NOTE: To date Microsoft has proposed several possible workarounds for
managing unbuffered output by calling setbuf(., _IONBF) , and  GetProcAddr()
in the application to get the address of setbuf in the VC 6 library.
However, these workarounds have potential performance implications and have
not been fully tested by the Tuxedo team and would require the customer to
verify their specific application and workaround with Microsoft Support.
2. Based on our analysis of buffer I/O within Tuxedo, the following
Tuxedo FML APIs are affected and cannot be used in the co-mingled .Net VC
environments. These APIs involve passing a FILE pointer from the application
to Tuxedo and violate the restriction on using CRT-bound objects across
different CRT versions:
FMLread(), FMLread32(), FMLwrite(), FMLwrite32(), Fread(), Fread32(),
Fwrite(), Fwrite32(), Fboolpr(), Fboolpr32(), Fvboolpr(), Fvboolpr32(),
Fextread(), Fextread32(), Ffprint(), Ffprint32()
3. A related issue occurs for Tuxedo servers. If the -e or -o options are
specified as command line options for an application server instance (to
redirect output to user-specified files), buffered output to stdout or
stderr (e.g. via fprintf) may not appear in the redirected files. NOTE: The
only known workaround for this problem is for customer applications to
explicitly manage own output redirection in their Tuxedo servers.

  • Bootcamp upgrade Win 7 Pro 64 to Win 8 fails

I'm trying to upgrade Win 7 to Win 8. Install goes to 90% then message -"your computer will reboot in  a few moments" then a few minutes later message
"install failed" and it rolls back to Win7.
This is on an early 2012 17" Macbook Pro I7 2.4 running Win 7 Pro 64. I installed  the new bootcamp drivers, tried disabling all unnecessary devices-audio/lan/bluetooth etc,, tried clean  boot, disabled video card all with the same result.
I ran the System Update Readiness Tool and retried the install with the same result.
Tried install from desktop and DVD
    Hope someone can help-thanks

    Happened to me, too.
I realized that on my Windows 7, "bcdedit /export" resulted in the same error ("The handle is invalid." == ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE == 0x00000006). Apparently the problem is not in Windows 8 but in the running Windows 7.
So I followed the procedure here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392/en-us which is renaming the old BCD and peforming "bootrec /RebuildBcd". (Note: Without renaming the original BCD, "/RebuildBcd" did nothing effective.)
After that, "bcdedit /export" started to work. Upgrading to Windows 8 also went through.

    Hi,
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again"
I've got the error (80071A91) that others have experiences while trying windows update and for the life of me I cannot get the updates to install.
Looking for the past 4 hours via Google, trying different recommended things and still no luck

using the dispart to LIST VOLUMES  (based on this http://mikemstech.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/how-to-perform-offline-system-integrity.html )
I've tried #fsutils resourse set autorevert=true (or something, can't find the exact post as I've rebooted so many times)
I've tried dismc.exe (or similar without success)
Basically I'm stuck with these updates (~10 of them) always sitting there downloading, installing every time I shut down the PC.
Running a system repair disk created in windows still does not allow #sfc /scannow....
My Last system restore was 04/08/14 and I cannot even restore the system to this point as the restore fails and asks to remove itself once I restart the system.

Hi, I've rebooted into Repair mode (Console), (because repair said windows is installed on E:) run dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.  Restart Windows and run sfc again."
I then rebooted and tried SCF again, no luck... Same message, same updates still sitting there.

  • Fresh Install of Win XP Pro SATA Driver's don't work

    Hello
I apologise first of all if this is posted in the wrong forum but as this is the motherboard I am using here goes: ( System configuration is in signature)
I recently purchased a Seagate SATA HDD 160gb and fitted to the VIA 8237 chipset Sata_1 connection. Then the problems begin...
SATA is enabled in the BIOS onchip (not the Promise controller)
Press F6 during installation of Win XP Pro and install VIA 8237 SATA RAID driver - from USB external floppy drive - for Win XP and continue installation. After Formatting the hard drive the installation now asks for me to insert the diskette again and press enter 'Please insert the VIA Combo RAID Driver Diskette', and I do so and press enter...nothing happens!!! I have tried using the disk provided with the board and have also made a disk from the drives at the MSI website, both to no avail.
I have also tried this process with the Promise controller i.e. attaching the drive to the Ser_3 connection and installing the drivers from the floppy during XP install and yet again I am requested to insert the floppy labelled Promise 579/518 Controller, and again when I do nothing happens.
I would appreciate any help you could give as I now have no PC to use and want to get this sorted asap.
    Thanks

I have always left the floppy in the drive from boot, only trying otherwise when it kept failing. However could it be to do with the fact this is an external Floppy drive connected by USB that it wont take it? I notice there is not any activity from the floppy drive, no matter whether I take the disk out and re-insert or just leave it there.

    version 5.10.0000.6270, date, 10/26/2007).
    2. Installed K-Lite Codec Pack 357 Full.
    3. Ran CCleaner and cleared cache for Adobe Flash Player.
    4. Affirmed configuration is set for Desktop Stereo.
    5. Secured all Audio Cables.
    6. Tried to re-install 9.047.0 by uninstalling 9.0.115.0 and
running the archived flashplayer9r47_winax.exe, but the installer

Flash files with audio sound garbled or high pitched
    Question
Flash files played in the the newest version of the Flash
Player sound garbled or have a high-pitched "chipmunk" sound to
    them.
    Answer
The latest release of the Flash Player (v9.0.115.0 released
on 12/03/07)) causes audio to sound garbled and/or high pitched
like a chipmunk. Our development team is looking into this issue
and working to find a fix.
To avoid this problem, you can roll back your Flash Player to
a previous release. If you have problems installing an older
release of the Flash Player please review this article and contact
    Adobe for further support.
At this time, the problem is limited only to SWF files
produced with the MP3 audio codec. As a workaround, you can produce
your SWF files with the PCM audio codec or use the FLV format
    instead of SWF.

Safe versions security restrictions when installing Flash
    Player
    Issue
If you previously installed a later version of Flash Player
for Internet Explorer, you may be prevented from installing an
earlier version. For example, if you installed Flash Player
9.0.47.0 and attempted to install version 9.0.45.0 the installation
    would fail.
    Reason
This issue is due to registry key settings applied by the
Flash Player security model. The restriction is to prevent users
from downgrading Flash Player minor versions. The minor version of
Flash Player is the third set of numbers in the version name. For
example, the minor version for Flash Player 9.0.47.0 would be 47.
If Flash Player 9.0.47.0 was installed and you attempted to install
9.0.45.0 (minor version 45), the installation would fail.
    Solution
To resolve this, download the uninstaller for Flash Player
from "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX
    control" (TechNote tn_14157).
    Select Start.
    Select Run.
    Type cmd
In the command window, type the following:
    uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
This will remove all entries in the system registry and
    resolve this issue.
Note: The uninstall_flash_player.exe file must be saved to
the same directory that the command window is in, for example C:\.

    Hello all
I'm trying to install Oracle BRM but when running pin_setup.bat I have the output below.
I tried on Win 7 Pro x64 and on Windows XP Pro.
I also tried to see if there were any connection attempt when the errors "pcmdd: bad connect for PCWORK, errno 9" is shown, using Wireshark, but it seems that there is no connection attempt when this message is printed to the output.
As the error is exactly the same on Win 7 Pro and Win XP Pro, I think that this is not an operating system problem.
Do you know what I am doing wrong ?

I have checked the services (in services.msc) and I started the following ones :
    - Portal Base Connection Manager
    - Portal Base Oracle Data Manager
All other services cannot be started (Error 1067).
Anyway After starting these 2 services I have launched pin_setup.bat again and now the error is :

  • Can't connect to MySQL in DW CS5.5 on Win 7 Pro 64-bit...

    Hi there.
I hope you can help me. I used Dreamweaver CS3 for some years on my former Windows XP Pro 32-bit laptop. Everything worked just fine with updating files to my webhotel and view my MySQL-databases within Dreamweaver. I use classic ASP and the MySQL 5.1/5.5 driver. Then a few months ago I upgraded to CS5.5, but everything still worked fine, as I were used to. BUT then I got a new laptop with Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I installed everything including all MySQL drivers, but I can't connect to my databases within Dreamweaver anymore. :-((( I get a connection error (Unable to retrieve tables from this connection, click on the 'Define...' button to test this connection.).
Do note, that there's nothing wrong with my connectionstring. My webdatabases works just fine, but DW can't figure out to connect. Is it DW on Win 7 or is it a question about how to configure MySQL on my computer? I installed the full package from Sun/MySQL.
I hope you can help me! It's so annoying that I can't use the feature to drag variables from my databases into my pages.
    Best regards
    Ulrich

start at the top and work your way down applying applicable fixes until your problem is resolved.
    if cc (win):  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-application-failed.html
    if, your error is:
"Installer failed to initialize. File not found." or "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to missing files."
first, rename OOBE Folder to OOBE.old.
    to find OOBE:
64 bit win OS: Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
32 bit win OS: Program Files \Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    mac os: HD>library>application support>adobe>caps
    mac os: USER>library>application support>adobe>OOB
if that fails or isn't the exact error you see, uninstall, clean (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and reinstall.
if you're using a dvd to install:
copy the disc contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.
    if you're using a mac:
    1. Try to Create a new user account in Mac with Administrator Priviledges.
    2. Login to the New user, Navigate to Mac HD> Application> Utilities> Adobe Installer folder, Locate products like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air and un-install them
    3. Navigate to User Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
    4. Navigate to Mac HD> Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
    5. Start the installation again.
if everything applicable above fails, check your installation logs:

  • Macbook Air July 2013 freezes (Boot camp Win 7 Pro)

    Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue? I am running win 7 pro 64bit sp1 with the latest boot camp drivers (updated via osx boot camp utiliy a few days ago) and all windows updated up to date. Everything works fine and has installed, but at least once every day the whole computer just freezes up and becomes non responsive. All I can do is power it off and do a hard reset. This is on a brand new July 2013 Macbook Air 13" with a 512gb PCIe Samsung SSD.
I have taken it into Apple to take a look at, but they refuse to acknowledge the problem saying it is a software issue with Windows. They did their diag tests in-store and everything came up ok. But the funny thing is, the laptop still freezes every day! And all the errors point to a hardware issue.
Anyway, I did a bit of googling and from the sounds of it it is most likely a faulty motherboard/controller chip. I just wanted to hear from others out there if they were able to fix it any other way other than getting a replacement laptop? Are there any diag tools that I can run to see if the SSD controller is faulty?
Here are the errors I keep getting
    Event ID 11
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR3
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR6
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR5
Some other errors which I think could be related
taskhost (2744) WebCacheLocal: A request to write to the file "xx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\V01.log" at offset 184320 (0x000000000002d000) for 151552 (0x00025000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (2451 seconds) to be serviced by the OS. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\4&1df6a035&0.

I don't think that PCIe which is only Samsung device would use any other NAND.
I do think Apple is responsible to provide drivers and enable AHCI mode for it to function properly.
Was concerned that too many people give far too little space to Windows partition. And that they don't set aside the 11% that Samsung Magician would recommend setting if it could.
I first read about the MBA and its new SSDs here:
2013 MacBook Air Disassembled and Benched - Samsung 256GB PCIe SSD ...
    And Samsung PR:
    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/news-events/press-releases/ detail?newsId=12921
    > Samsung started providing the new SSD to major notebook PC makers earlier this quarter. The XP941 lineup consists of 512, 256 and 128GB SSDs.
So no matter what size it is still going to be Samsung NAND all the way through.
PCI Express-based SSDs for Ultrabooks, then. The new XP941 series uses PCIe's wider data path to read at nearly 1.4GB/s
    http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/17/samsung-makes-first-pcie-based-ssd-for-ultrab ooks/
So maybe searches on "XP941" can help turn up tips from around the net.

  • E130 - Migrate WIn 7 Pro to SSD

    Hi!
I have a Lenovo Edge E130 and I have recently inserted a 128 GB SSD into the extra mSATA slot in addition to the 500 GB HDD. Now I want to migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs from the HDD to the SSD, in order to start the laptop from the SSD only in the future. The 500 GB HDD will just be used for data storage.
However, my migration efforts from HDD to SDD so far failed  I attempted it twice, using a) the migration option in Easeus Partition Master 10.2, and b) an image of partition C: from an external USB drive.
I assume that it could have failed due to the Lenovo setup of Win 7. There is a partition "Windows_7_OS" on C: and a "System_Drv" partition labeled with a "*". I don't have Win 7 installation CDs/DVDs, only those for Win 8.1, but I want to keep on using Win 7.
What do I have to do to successfully migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs to the SSD?
    Thanks for your answers!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear Alex5723,
thanks a lot for this helpful link. Now that I am back to a running system and to the Windows desktop, I will go on following the suggestions for optimization of SSD performance suggested there.
But first I had to solve some other problems. Here's the story how I succeeded to migrate Win 7 and programs from an HDD to an SSD, both of which now run parallel in my Lenovo E130 with Win 7 on the SSD:
    1) I installed the 128 GB SSD into the additional mSATA slot.
    2) Using the existing Win 7 system on the HDD, I chose Acronis True Image 2015 (free demo version available) to save an image of partition C: (OS and programs) to an external USB drive.
    3) Next I created an Acronis rescue CD.
    4) I have shut down the laptop and removed the HDD.
    5) I booted from the Acronis rescue CD and copied the saved image to the new SSD.
    6) Then I restarted and changed the boot sequence to first boot from the SSD and started windows. This stopped after a while before getting to the desktop with a blue screen telling me Windows was not genuine (build 7601). My Win 7 Pro 64 bit is genuine (pre-installed OEM version). The problem was that the new OS was not in the C partition. Apparently, you can avoid such a screen when you don't assign a partition and a partition letter to the new SSD, so that the space on the SSD just remains unallocated. That's what I did (made the SSD a primary partition, partition letter was E). The very easy and quick solution to that problem is nicely described here: http://www.anotherwindowsblog.com/2011/02/windows-7-not-genuine-after-disk-clone.html
    7) Now that my desktop is back again (everything looks and works like on the HDD before), I have shut down the laptop again and reinstalled the HDD. I went on deleting the old operating system partitions on the HDD and reallocated this space to my data storage partition, but you might prefer to do something else.
    8) Next step I will take is to follow the optimization of SSD performance suggestions that are included in the instructions Alex5723 referred to:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/97242/how-to-migrate-windows-7-to-a-solid-state-drive/

  • Win 7 pro sends incorrect username when attempting to connect to another machine on lan

Under 'Network -- when typing name such as \\computer0:
Cannot successfully login/join/access xp pro machine on lan under win 7 PRO sp1 (\\computer1) but CAN do so under win 7 home premium sp1 (\\computer2).
Looked at credential manager (on both computer1&2) and entries for \\computer0 are almost identical. Successful machine shows username: \\COMPUTER2-MACHINE\myusername and unsuccessful PRO machines shows username: myusername. Passwords are correct and
    the same.
When I created a new entry on \\computer1 as 10.0.0.11 for \\computer0 and added the same username and password, it DOES logon/connect/access computer0.
I am certain the username is being passed incorrectly as the currently logged on user on computer0 rather than the user name defined in credential manager.  I have run Wireshark on computer0 during the failing computer1 attempt to access \\computer0
AND during the successful access by \\computer2 to access \\computer0 AND when \\computer1 successfully accesses computer0 via using \\10.0.0.11  The username in the security blob | ntlm secure service provider ... is clearly shown to NOT be what is defined
    in credential manager.
    Any thoughts? suggestions?
    tia,
    Steve

    Hello Andy,
Thanks for your suggestion.  I tried it.  No luck.  Same situation. CAN logon to \\10... but not to \\computer0
I deleted the entries. Rebooted. Tried access to \\computer0. Failed. Created credential. Tried. Failed. Tried \\10... Failed. Created credential for 10... Tried. Succeeded.
Can you tell me how I can completely delete the credentials?  (It's a recently purchased used laptop and not much of mine installed on it yet.)
Are there any 'reserved word' credentials that might conflict with my 'computer0'?  It's real name is \\ma785gm after it's motherboard.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • MAR WIN 7 PRO 64bit on Refurb T520

I have ordered a T520 refurb. It apparently has MAR WIN 7 PRO 64bit installed on a 250GB 7200 HD. No discs, so presumably there will be a recovery partition.
Question 1: Will I be able to burn a recovery CD from the recovery partition?
Question 2. I would like to install an SSD as the main drive. Can I clone the entire HD including recovery partition and keep it as a back up? Maybe install in Ultrabay and partition it so I can use it in part for data.
Question 3. If I needed to download and install a Win7 Pro 64 bit ISO, will it work using the MAR license?
Question 4. I think I read something about loss of functionality of Thinkvantage when using MAR Windows because Flextronics/IBM are not fully licensed to offer some features. Is this true? I may have misunderstood.
Any other pitfalls of MAR I should know about?

"All the Lenovo software will not be included, and probably the drivers they have on file for the system. That would be because the company does not have a contract with Lenovo (I am guessing here) but as far as I know that does not stop you from getting it. BUT you will not get the other software that is loaded on Lenovo's at the factory. That may be what they are talking about. But Windows is windows. Say for instance you have Windows 7 Premium Home, it will be the same as if Lenovo installed it, or you installed it yourself.
One issue you may have. Recovery discs. Are you getting any Discs with the computer, or does it have a recovery partition. You have to get one or the other at the cost of the remanufacturer"
I am finding that there are differences with the IBM/Flextronics refurb machine. They say in a FAQ that because they are not legally allowed to use the Lenovo operating software, the Thinkvantage button is deactivated. If I hit downarrow (or is it F12), and get to the boot choice screen, there is an option at the bottom for recovery. This uses the recovery partition and will apparently over write the windows installation, losing set up etc.
What I was looking for, was a method to backup the recovery partition to DVD or USB stick just in case drive itself fails. But I don't see a way to do that other than cloning the entire disk. Is there another way?

  • Windows Server Essentials Connector stops responding during install Win 7 Pro to 2012 R2

I am trying to reconnect a Win 7 Pro computer to a new  Essentials 2012R2 and when it asks me to set it up for just me or multiple users a message pops up saying
it has stopped responding. It sets up a profile of _clientsetup_$ and it shows up in dashboard as an offline device. This computer was hooked up to an Essentials 2012R2 previously. Tried uninstalling the connector software, removing the computer from the domain,
renaming the computer and re-installing the connector software from the http://(server)/connect. Even tried backing up the existing profiles and creating a new clean one and went through the above procedure with the same results. I set up 4 others
with no issues and it would be the bosses computer that fails. I am a newbie so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
    Sorry for my interrupting.
Would you please let us know whether this problematic client computer was upgraded to Windows 7 Pro from a previous OS? Did you install any third-party application on this Windows 7 Pro client computer? Just a confirmation, thanks for your understanding.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu
