Field value disappears after save/close/reopen

I've got a single page form where all but afew fields are bound to an xml schema. Two of the unbound fields -Names and Address- are causing me a bit of a headache. I can fill in the form, either manually or using a data import and all of the fields show up just fine. However, when I save>close>reopen the values in the Names and Address field are gone.
I even tried deleting and recreating the field just in case I had some kind of hang up and it still doesn't work.
Does anyone know what's happening?

The work-around for importing pieces of data into a bound form involves importing the xml and then parsing it to fill only those fields you're looking for at that point.

Also note that you can always export as xdp to get ALL the field data -but if you export as xml it only exports the data tied to the schema.
On (re-)import, the xdp will attempt to fill all of the field in the form. The xml will attempt to fill all fields bound to the schema -even if the imported schema has no entries in the fields, it considers them tto be empty fields and will replace any data existing in the form with the blank from the schema.
And one more point - it is possible to bind fields to more than one data source. This doesn't mean that you can bind fields to more than one schema -rather that you can bind a field to both a governing schema and webservice. Unfortunately I'm not terribly skilled at this yet so I hesitate to give instructions. It's in the documentation, though.

Personas 2 SP2: field values disappear after entry?

Hi Folks - we made a couple of changes to our Personas 2.0 flavors for IMA1N and IMA2N. The flavors work fine in our development system. After transporting the flavors to our QA system we now see a problem with data entry. When data is entered into certain fields and the enter key is pressed, the data values disappear. Tab-caching is used on these flavors but I am not sure if this is the issue. It is possible that I missed something when building the transport in /PERSOS/ADMIN_UI. I selected only the flavors to be transported.
Can anyone think of a reason why this would happen?

Hi Jeff,
Does the tab caching indicator turn red? It is possible the QA system or the data used has additional validations that prevent the tabs from being selected to continue the tab caching routine.
If everything looks OK and it is still an issue, please create a support ticket.

Textarea default value disappears after a second in version 11, why?

I use default value in html form element, textarea.
It works fine in firefox 4.0 beta.
But not in firefox 11 and firefox 3, the default value disappears after a second just like a flash.
How can i solve this?

Reference field value disappears on the Receivables transaction line window

Hi Everybody,
I have below problem while creating the manual invoice from Receivables.
when i am trying to utilize the reference field on the Receivables transaction line,
so that it can be used to enter extra data for manual invoices.
At the moment if you enter data in the file and save it . it was visible.
Again when i re query the transaction then it disappears.
Kindly some one suggest me how to view reference field value from Transaction line and as well as from back end in which column of Trx table i can see the data. Please help me to resolve the issue.

Changes made in a Custom Program disappears after save.

CS4 eye dropper values disappear after grouping mask layer with next layer

Have an adjustment/curve with a mask (layer1). Under layer 1 is a second layer with just an image needing color correction(layer2). When I group the top layer1 with image layer2, the colour values disappear in the info pallette. Never did this in any other version of PS..... Strange?

Yes! I am confused too! But, no, I am positive of the approach as I saw it in use. Can you read a .psd image from an e-mail? (I'm really stupid about most things.) If yes, then I can send each step - otherwise...
Do these steps and watch the result.
Open an image.
Make a selection.
New layer via copy from the Layers Menu Icon (L1 - blank)
ON LAYER 1 !!!
CMND + New Layer Via Copy (creates ...)
L2 and it will have the marching ants outline of/from Background.
(Option+Layer Mask and the selection appears in solid black in the layer mask box)
NOTE: You don't have to create that blank L1 - you can 'just' from Background/selection CMND+New Layer and get the outline copied to L1(in this case). What I saw involved first creating a blank layer as above - really. The next steps, make the selection in L2 appear and the L1 disappear (deleting is cheating...)
Wish I had a clue

CR XI uses the wrong data field after save/close-open

I have a quite complex CR XI report (35 sections). It has 2 embedded sub-reports, connects via ODBC to Sybase, and uses a long and complex SQL statement as a Database Command. After a fairly small number of edits and saves (I guess between 10 and 20), I can no longer save it correctly. For example, if I add a particular text field from the command to be displayed. Run the report in the designer then all is well. But if I save the report and re-open it then the data field that I added has been replaced by another, totally different field. This process is repeatable!
I tried removing some unneeded fields from the Command SQL and that causes a DIFFERENT field to replace the one I select.
If I re-create the entire report from scratch (copy and paste from the u201Cbadu201D one) then the problem goes away for a few edits and saves; but then returns.
This is getting very frustrating, because it takes me the best part of a day to copy the report to a new one, including copying all of the formatting and formulae, and ensuring that every field and every section has the correct properties (suppress, new page etc) applied to it. In order to minimise the risk of it becoming corrupt I u201Csaveu201D infrequently, which can add to the frustration when things go wrong!
Has anyone got ANY ideas?
What can I do to prevent the corruptions?
Is there a better way to clone the report?
Does anyone know if CR 2008 would be any better?

Thanks again for your help. I think that you are misunderstanding the problem a bit. When I have the report open in the designer I can put the correct field on the designer surface (eg by dragging a field called u201CCustomerNameu201D from the Command in the u201CField Exploreru201D to an appropriate location). The report then functions perfectly when I refresh (F5) and view it in the u201CPreviewu201D tab, and I see the appropriate names. However If I close the designer and then re-open it, a DIFFERENT field, u201CCustomerBalanceu201D, is displayed both in the design view and the preview tab, and of course I see the numeric data for that incorrect field in the preview, where I expect to see a name. The same (incorrect) data is shown when the report is run and displayed via the web browser interface (not within the CR designer).
I have run and edited the same report on different PCs with the latest CR XI installed and on my PC with many different loads (eg just after re-boot and later in the day with many applications running) all with identical results, so I am confident that it is not resource related.
Similarly I donu2019t think it can be ODBC related, because it appears to occur when the report is saved, closed or opened. I am not saving data with the report. I have now tried using the DataDirect driver, but it will not connect to the Sybase ASA database on a remote server, because it complains that procedure sp_server_info is not found. This is only supported by Sybase ASE (not ASA).
There are a lot of conditional fields and sections and page breaks within the report, these are suppressed with an appropriate formula, but the underlying SQL is just passed one parameter and this is used to select an appropriate single data set (there is no hierarchical grouping or drill-down in this report). The error is there consistently whatever parameter value is used (i.e. it always displays a value in place of a name in the example above).
I have still not tried your stored procedure idea, partly because that will require another day to re-write the report. I might combine that with Jasonu2019s idea and make all display all data via formulae as a first step and then replace the underlying data with a stored procedure.
I have discovered a temporary work-around though. I have added more sub-reports (all take the same parameter value) and replaced whole sections with those sub reports, so I was able to remove quite a few data fields from the main SQL query, because these are now queried separately in the sub-reports. Itu2019s all working at the moment!

Artboards disappear after closing and reopening a file

My coworkers and I have been running into an issue when we use documents that have multiple artboards. After we do ouer work, we save and close the file. When we go to reopen the file, all but the first artboard have disappeared. Looking in the Artboard panel, the original artboard counts up after every save.
For example, say I were to create a new file and add a couple artboards. After saving, closing, and reopening the file, the additional artboards would be gone, the artwork on those boards would still be there, and the original artboard would be labeled as "Artboard 2". If I were to add the missing artboards again, the same issue would occur and reopening the file would have the first artboards labeled now as "Artboard 3".
I am using Illustrator CS6 and saving the files as an .ai with the default settings.

Are you saving locally? Over a network? Mac or PC?

Values disappear after saving the Purchase Order and Goods Receipt PO

Our client is using SAP Business One 2007 A(8.00.181) SP 00 PL 47, When they raise Purchase Order for service item, the details and amount disappears automatically after adding the document and similar case for Good Receipt PO. But when they book directly in AP invoice the details and amount will appeared.So please help on solution for the above problem.

If I understood correctly you cannot see the information inside the document you added. This made me think that it is a GUI issue.
In the second answer you specified that when you try to open it again you'll receive the error message saying that there is no total value or total and I assume there is no information in the document.
I believe the second issue is a consequence of the first one.
I was suggesting to open a message on the portal (the message that requires the S number from the partners) in order to investigate the issue better.
However, as you have an error message that pinpoints to certain fields it could be possible to see the information in the tables. Do you have this information?

Photo/Edit-In CS6. psd image does not show in LR after save/close.

Whenever I edit (a copy) of an image in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.3 (Photo/Edit-In), after I save and close the image in CS6 the new psd image does not show in Lightroom. In order to see the image in Lightroom, I need to close Lightroom and then reopen Lightroom. It is almost like Lightroom needs to "refresh". Does anyone have a solution that does not require me to close Lightroom? I have tried to use View/Sort by extension, filename, edit time, etc. with no effect.

This should not be so. I'm assuming that you do a <save> in CS6 - as opposed to <save as>. Only with <save> the image file will automatically be imported in Lr while <save as> creates a new file that Lr "knows" nothing about until you import it (for instance via "Synchronize folder").
If the behavior you describe follows a <save> in CS6 it is not normal.
This could be due to a corrupt Preference File. This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr does not replace the Pref. File since it is designed to "survive" upgrades.

Instantiated subforms disappear after save?

In a certain project I use several PDF-forms containing subforms instantiated by users when they need to fill in multiple blocks of similar data. This instantiating is done by using scripts calling the instanceManager. This works fine so far! Now I just noticed a problem with solution:
Whenever such a form is saved as PDF (manually in Reader, but also by e-mail submit), all instantiated subforms (and the data it contained) disappeared as soon as the PDF is closed and reopened. Only the first (default) instance of the subform remains. The strangest thing is: when the same from is submitted as XML, all data blocks are stored just like expected.
(The form is saved as a Dynamic XML form. These forms are created with LiveCycle Designer ES (8.1))
This doesnt occur on just a single form, but on all of my forms containing instantiated subforms. So I guess Im doing something wrong, but what? Has anyone an idea why this happens... or better: does anyone has a solution?

I have never faced with that problem. Is your subform instances binded to schema or anything else?
While I am creating repeated instances of a subform;
1. Create a subform1, put the fields and delete button inside this subform.
2. Make subform1 flowable layout western.
3. Pagination stays same (Place:Following Prev, After: Continue Filling Parent)
4. In Binding tab of subform1, Select "Repeat subform for each data .." and select min count as 1.
5. In the "Add" buttons script, I enter subform1.instanceManager.addInstance(0); in Javascript.
6. In "Delete" button subform1.instanceManager.removeInstance(this.parent.index);
7. Also you can bind the subform to unbounded element in your sema (...coll[*])
8. It works well.
If you apply like these and same problem occurs, you can check the versions of your reader or acrobat.

Drop down list in Table Control - Value disappeared after pressing ENTER

Dear Gurus,
I have a problem in one of my development where I used a table control in which one field is a drop down list.
I used VRM_SET_VALUES and VRM_GET_VALUES for populating the values from the programand not use any domain level value table for that field.
My problem is when I select one value from this list , and pressing enter , the value get disappeared. But if I use a domain for this field with value table then everything working properly.
My doubt is am I doing some miss coding or using the VRM_ function modules improperly ?

Field value disappeared when saved in Quick Sales Order form

HI,
We have developed a custom form which is similar to the Find Customer Search form in Quick Sales Order form (Navigate to Tools --> Find Customer).
The custom form searches Customer and populates the selected customer details in Quick Sales Order form (populating the values in Quick Sales Order form is handled in Custom.pll).
When we select Bill to or Ship to Contact in the Quick Sales Order form and save the Order, the Bill to and Ship to Contacts are disappeared (If the Bill to and Ship to Sites are not Primary).
Can anyone please help me on this...

Check if 'Audit Trail' is setup in OM Parameters for the OU.
Also check if "Processing Constraints" are setup correctly.

Photo Book I've created disappears after I close the iPhoto program.

Having spent hours creating a book, I close the program to return later only to discover later that nothing of my previous work has been saved.
I have rebuilt the photo database and tested that it will save and it has only retained half of my work. All the text has been lost and after the third day of re-creating the same book I am getting very discouraged - say the least.
I have produced beautiful books in the past, but that was with iPhoto 08. What else can I do?

You don't have to update, it's just recommending that you do.
On 10.7.5 you can run up to iPhoto 9.4.3 and those updates are available.

Products added to opportunity disappears after save

We have the following scenario:
For an opportunity with sales stage 'Installed' when we add products and save the opportunity the product is getting saved in the database but it doesn't reflect in the display. If we reopen the business transaction the product added earlier is present.
