File Handling in 3.1i version

Hi Friends,
Currenty i am working in a interface development (R/3 3.1i version), in which the first step is to transfer the internal table data to SAP Application server.
The problem is since it is not a unicode system(R/3 3.1i version) it is not transfer the data record of lenth more than 255 charachers.
But i have to transfer minimum of 296 characters, is there any possiblity to do this.
Kindly help in this regards.
Regards
Kothai

Hi Rob,
Yes there is no limitation. the display seen is limited to 255 characters, when i worte a one other program to read the same file in SAP AS to screen output, i was able to read complete data.

  • Can't delete file after renaming due to Word file handle still present. Error staes document is still in use but it's really not. Worked fine in 2007 but not in 2010.

I have some code associated with a Word Template. The template is opened, filled out and saved via a routing in vba. This all works fine in older 2007 version (which is version it was originally created in). Once this file is saved, the user can change the
date in a text box and re-save document. The code saves using the new date for part of new file name and then deletes that older file from the server. It fails at the delete function because the newer version of word is not dropping the file handle from the
first named file when user saves it to the new filename. In older version (2007) this handle was released as soon as file was saved to a different name. I can't seem to figure out how to release the old document filename so the old document file can be deleted.
I hope I explained this well enough.
Here's the code that woeked in version 2007 but fails in version 2010.

    mogulman52 and Don,
I went back and looked at my code and had already updated it to SaveAs in the new docx format. It still holds the lock handle in place until Word closes, unlike earlier versions which released the lock handle when you did a SaveAs.
As a note, all my Word and Excel macro-enabled (dotm & xltm) templates are read only and are never filled in, prompting the user for a file name on any close event or if they run the code gets auto-named. I do the SaveAs and concatenate the file name
from data on the document (or sheet) that has been filled in. During the SaveAs the docx gets saved to a network folder and also on a local folder. The lock gets renamed to the filename and remains until Word is closed.
So my code still fails at the point noted below while trying to delete an old filename version after the file has been saved as a new filename in a new folder. So....
The code is looking in the last folder where the docx file was saved for the older filename so it can be deleted. The newest docx version has already been saved in a different folder and has a new lock handle of its own. That lock is not my problem, it's
the older file lock which really exists in the same folder as the first filename that the docx was saved to. It does not release that lock until I exit Word. My work around has been to instruct all users to manually delete the older version file.
The other odd thing is this only happens when I run it from code, if you manually go through these steps with the SaveAs menu drop-downs in Word it will release the lock handle???
Hope this isn't to confusing and thanks for all your suggestions and help.

  • How Do RoboHelp 9 WebHelp Generated Files Handle Map IDs and Aliases?

The text below was written by our team's developer/architect. I am the help author who uses RoboHelp to write content and generate the help files, but I am clueless how it all gets generated and is deployed. Please help. We use RoboHelp 9. I use it in Windows XP and our app and help run on IE 7, 9, and Firefox (multiple versions).
"Our application uses the numeric identifiers associated with the Map ID. For example, to get to the <appname>_home_page.htm file, we use the number 1053. <appname> = pecs, in this example.
All of this is used in a call to a RoboHelp method defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. The mehtod we are calling is the RH_ShowHelp() JavaScript method and the code to perform the call, when you click on Page Help, is this:
    RH_ShowHelp(0, ''/pecsHelp/index.htm>pecsHelp',HH_HELP_CONTEXT,topic);
Topic is translated to the Map ID number for the page help. HH_HELP_CONTEXT is defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. This method translates into a URL and from what I have seen, the URL that gets generated is this:
    http://{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm/{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm#<id=1053>>pecsHelp
Server and port get replaced with the appropriate values. I have no clue how id=1053 is supposed to get translated to mean "pecs_home_page.htm". If you check the PECS_help.h file, you will see the following entry:
    #define PECS_Home_Page1 1053
Then in the RoboHelp alias file (PECS 3.0.ali), the following line is in the file:
    <alias name="PECS_Home_Page1" link="pecs_home_page.htm"> </alias>
But both of these files are used during the WebHelp generation process and I don't know how the WebHelp generated files handle the Map ID and aliases."

You need to assign the numbers you find in the pecs_help.h file to topics in your help. You do this in Context Sensitive Help > Map Files > All Map IDs. (From RH7, but I assume the location is similar in RH9.) This creates the entries in the .ali file.
Peter Grainge suggests a couple of sites to read for a greater understanding here:
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_map_ids.htm
(Although the second  site is based on RH X5, the basic concepts and procedures should be very similar. )

  • "The document could not be opened. Bad file handle."  Error

    Greetings,
I have many operators opening documentation using acrobat reader 8.1.2. When the documents are opened, sometimes a change has to be done to the file. I use computer management to "kick" everyone out of the files, update the .pdf, and then they can re-open the file to see the latest and greatest version. The problem is, if not everyone is out of the file, I sometimes get a ""The document could not be opened. Bad file handle." error, and have to usually wait a period of time before it will let anyone in. I think it has something to do with the windows temp files, but am unsure. It's hard to ensure everyone is out of the document on time, as up to 50 people may be in it at the same time.
Is there perhaps a better way of publishing the new verison of the document?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

these two errors below is what I am receiving when do a program integrity scan: common program locations.
I have done a repair on acrobat reader and I do have the two dll files I even put them in reader folder and still receiving the errors.

  • File Attachments in BPM Workspace - Versioning & Storage Question

I am using BPM Workspace and my team is uploading File attachments as part of their task. As people update the file the version changes and they are also checking it out and checking it in.
My question is what is happening behind the scenes?
How is checkin checkout of file handled for attachments. I sthere a Buint in CVS?
Where do these files reside? Which directory on the server.
How do i change the configuration to make it reside in my corporate PVCS.

By default the attachments are stored in the Engine Database, you can stored them also in Aqualogin Interaction (Old ALUI) now Webcenter Interaction.
If you upload a file that already exists it creates a new version
    Hope it helps

User, please always tell us your jdev version as the solution might depend on it.
Instead of posting some code, can you please elaborate on the use case? From the code I don'T understand what you try to do. Data (file) uploaded through the af:inputFile is binary. The file may only be a text file, but it might be an image. The inputFile doen not know as it only represents the data stream send from the client.
In you code I don't see that you actually read the data from the stream, neither do I see any action on the stream. Can you describe what you mean by
but I can not make it work ...You may read http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/11/26/jdev11-1-2-1-0-handling-imagesfiles-in-adf-part-1/ for more info about file handling in ADF

  • File handling in Lightroom is pretty, terribly, awful?

The current workflow in terms of importing and mostly- organising your catalog/files is pretty damn painful as I find it. Is it just me, or are others running into similar issues?
First, let me state that I'm really fond of the develop features of Lightroom, and have been using the programme since version 1.
Lately however, I'm running into seriously annoying situations using Lightroom:
    - Importing/moving duplicate filename errors:  I managed to actually lose photographs because of trying to import a catalog maintained by a colleague that used different import and photo enumeration (camera) settings. This is something I hoped Lightroom would gracefully manage in the background; in this example his camera reset his count on card format. As he used date based folder import he evaded filename conflicts because all identically named photos resided in separate folders by default. However, when converting that folder/file structure to mine, which has one file folder per project/shoot resulted in thousands and thousands of file name conflicts. This simply baffled me. I had to go through tons of hoops in order for Lightroom to allow for two similarly named photographs to exist in the same folder. Not only would Lightroom not identify and warn that though the files were named the same, these photographs were NOT identical, it would then simply give a list of 'errors' caused by the duplicate names and leave it at that. Why on earth would Lightroom not offer to rename the 'conflicting' files? Or even better, offer the possibility create unique filenames upon import?
What do you reckon the OS thinks when multiple files with the same name gets put in the trashcan? Right... Try and undo that one!
    - Can't copy:  Hmmm? Can we not imagine that photographers may want to maintain different physical copies of photographs on separate media? Imagine that I'd like to keep a subset of my archive on a server, or external hard drive.. How is it possible that this is ...impossible? As much as I love the Virtual Copy in it's capacity to save HD space, we'd very much like to have the opposite too. A real copy, with 2 different entries in the catalog, or a Physical/Linked Copy that has one negative but two (raw) source files?
    - Moving/File Operations themselves:  So imagine I'm moving all the folders of one superfolder to a differently named one on a server. Because the root folder on the server already exist, I select the 40 folders I want to move and drag them to the folder on the server. Guess what. It starts copying the files to all folders- in parallel. The nightmare of any spinny disks, Lightroom creates 40 folders and as if distributing candy amongst kids starts putting one file in each. Then on to file no. 2. Everyone got 2 files? Yes? Here comes number three. 43 operations in process. WAT?
Sorry, I'm letting off some steam whilst waiting until these 43 operations complete. (Yes, I don't dare to cancel these operations, because.. oh )
And I'm probably doing something wrong or perhaps I don't grasp the logic properly. I'd be looking forward to any tips/hints.
    Cheers,
    T

I've never had such problems, but I've sure heard about them (or problems like them) a fair amount over the years.
If you can report specific problems to Adobe here (1 problem per report), there is a chance it will do some good:
Recently active topics in Photoshop Family about Photoshop Lightroom
Note: one thing I realized way back is that I did not want to leave anything up to Lightroom (or chance), file-handling-wise, and so always assure my naming convention does not result in duplicate files. I NEVER want a -2 added to any of my files (ok, sometimes when testing, but otherwise: not). So anyway, to make a long story short, I recommend conventions and workflow which avoids the drama as much as possible.. - good luck (sorry I've not been more help..).

  • File Handling missing from Import on MacBook Air?

Hi. I have the latest version of Lightroom on my PC and also my MacBook Air. The PC one is fine. However on the MacBook Air there is a problem with the IMPORT function. File Handling isn't displayed so I can't do such things as smart previews, make a second copy etc. That whole section is totally missing. I am on the Cloud version and have the latest 5.6 installed. Should I reinstall it again or is there some setting I am missing? I have searched all the menus to no avail. Regards Carol

Hi. I put this post in while waiting for customer support. The problem has been solved. Control click with the mouse in the right side blank area of the import window but up the selections that are available. I selected File Handling and it has now appeared. I hope this information helps someone else. regards Carol

  • Difference in file handling on PowerPC macs and Intel macs

I have a Power PC mac at work and an intel mac at home. I've noticed that there is a difference in file handling between the two.
I cant pinpoint exactly what it is but has anyone else found this?

If your question is: Why is my work computer, which is over 7 years old, runs an old version of OS X (maybe leopard, maybe Tiger), with a now abandoned CPU architecture (PowerPC) different than my modern Mac Mini at home which runs Mountain Lion on an Intel CPU?  Then my answer would be:
Your work computer is over 7 years old.
It runs an very old version of OS X, which is NOT Mountain Lion.
It runs on a CPU known as PowerPC, which is not been used by Apple since 2006.
Your home computer is more modern.
It runs OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
It runs on an Intel CPU.
I can't pinpoint exactly what your question is, but I suspect that this information may help you answer it or in the alternative, ask it differently.

  • How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?

How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?
I have made a LabVIEW program where I have possibility to read a PDF document.  When I made this LabVIEW program it was Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 that was installed on the PC. Lather when the Acrobat Reader was upgraded to version 6.0, there was an error when VI tries to launch the LabVIEW program. And Later again when we upgraded to Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 I must again do some changes and rebuild the EXE files again
It isn't so very big job to do the changes in one single LabVIEW program, but we have built a lot of LabVIEW programs so this take time to due changes every time vi update Acrobat Reader. (We have build EXE files.)
The job is to right click the ActiveX container and Click "Insert ActiveX Object", then I can brows the computer for the new version of acrobat Reader. After this I must rebuild all the "methods" in the Activex call to make the VI executable again.
Is there a way to build LabVIEW program so I don't have to do this job every time we update Acrobat Reader?
This LabVIEW program is written in LabVIEW 6.1, but I se the problem is the same in LabVIEW 8.2.

  • A DNG File Processed by an Earlier Version of ACR--How to Re-Process in ACR 8.4

I have thousands of DNG files processed by the ACR versions that came with CS4 and CS5. I was hoping to re-process some of them with the later ACR versions that came with CS6. But when I open a previously edited DNG file in ACR 8.4, it seems to revert to the earlier version in which the file was originally edited/processed. I made a duplicate of a file and reverted it to Default--sort of like restoring its virginity--but ACR 8.4 was not fooled; it still opened the earlier version. What to do???????

The earlier version of ACR was using a previous Process Version.
If you want the newer adjustment sliders, set your Process Version to 2012 on the Camera Calibration tab.

  • Error in creating IO file handles for job (number 3152513)

    Hi All -
I am using Tidal 5.3.1.307. And the Windows agent that is running these jobs is at 3.0.2.05.
Basically the error in the subject was received when starting a particular job once it was cancelled and a couple of other different jobs a few days before. These jobs have run successfully in the past.
This particular job was running for 500+ minutes when it should run at an estimated 40 minutes. At that time it would not allow for a re-start of the job, it just stayed in a launched status.
Trying to figure out what causes this error.
Error in creating IO file handles for job 3152513
Note - from that being said we were to see 2 instances of this process running at the same time, we noticed some blocking on the DB side of things.
Trying to figure out if this is a known tidal issue or a coding issue or both.
Another side note, after cancelling the 2nd rerun attempt the following error was encountered: Error activating job, Duplicate.
When we did receive the Error creating IO file, the job did actually restart, but Tidal actually lost hooks into it and the query was still running as an orphan on the db server.
    Thanks All!

The server to reboot is the agent server.  You can try stopping the agent and then manually deleting the file.  That may work.  When the agent is running the agent process may keep the file locked, so rebooting may not be sufficient.
The numerical folders are found as sub-directories off of the services directory I mentioned.  I think the numbers correspond to the job type, so one number corresponds to standard jobs, another to FTP jobs.  I'd just look in the numbered directories until you find a filename matching the job number.
The extensions don't really matter since you will want to delete all files that match your job number.  There should only be one or two files that you need to delete and they should all be in the same numbered sub-directory.
As to the root cause of the problem, I can't really say since it doesn't happen very often.  My recollection is that it is either caused by a job blowing up spectacularly (e.g. a memory leak in the program being launched by Tidal) or someone doing something atypical with the client.
