firefox crashes on opening within seconds. this started suddenly a few weeks ago and despite several daily attempts, i still can't load firefox application. it crashes immediately upon startup every time no matter what and crash reporter arrives. i have researched all the articles and followed their suggestions. i installed the newest version of firefox and still get the same results. i can't even open firefox in safe mode.
You do not want to remove the program directory with a Mac because Firefox is most likely installed in the system Applications directory which is where the system applications are stored.
Have you tried removing the Firefox plist file from your user library? I have Mac OS 10.6.8 as well, and that file is at /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences. Close Firefox and remove that file, then start Firefox again.

since i exhausted every angle throughout january and early february, i really can't pinpoint what made the difference today but... IT'S WORKING NOW! firefox had been deleted from my computer for a few weeks now so with renewed determination i searched every single folder on my entire hard drive and found 3 random files with mozilla or part of the word mozilla in them and deleted them. i shut down the computer and restarted it a few hours later. i downloaded firefox 10 (even higher version than the one i was updating to a month ago) from google chrome and installed it. so thank you for your input and effort to help!

My computer had been wanting to do a software update, with what I believe was the Mavericks Software, for a few weeks but I had been putting it off. When I finally decided to install the update onto my Macbook Pro 15" today, my screen went completely black and I haven't been able to get it back since. The computer still turns on, I can tell because my caps lock key still glows when I press it and my volume buttons still make sounds when I press them. However, I cannot see anything on the screen. I don't even get the grey start up screen when I reset my computer. I have tried the SafeMode Restart where you hold Shift while it is restarting and the Display Reset in which you hold Command + Option (alt) + R + P until you hear the start up noise twice, and neither have worked. Any other advice on what I can do to get my screen back without having to send my computer away to be fixed?

Currently using Photoshop CS5, but with a replacement computer and upgrade to Yosemite, keep being told I need to install the legacy Java 6. Currently, Photoshop won't even open. I absolutely do not want to subscribe, don't want to mess with the cloud, just want to buy an upgrade to something that will run for a while longer. I don't care about Lightroom, Bridge, Illustrator, etc.; most of those I've deleted over the years. But I do use Photoshop - or would if it would still run. What options do I have?

It's also possible you may have to reinstall photoshop cs5 even after installing the above java, because sometimes the upgrade to mac os x 10.10 messes up the photoshop cs5 installation.

I have not been able to get the built-in iPhone 4S keyboard dictation to work. I talk into it, then tap "Done", then the phone "thinks" for a few seconds (the purple dots pulse and I see the network icon on the top bar spinning) and then nothing happens.
Siri is wroking fineI am experiencing exactly the same problem, today, and a reset, of all settings, did nothing to correct it. Any suggestions would be welcome. While dictation in all apps is out, Siri is working fine also.

PS downloaded via CC seemed to download fine but won't work. Won't even open a file/document.
I recently got a new computer and I have CC so I downloaded the CC app and downloaded LR and PS. LR runs/works fine. PS seemed to download ok but won't even open a new file:picture. I am very frustrated as I have spoken with CC tech support and they were of no help, in fact that didn't even have a clue how to navigate Windows 8! I have been working on this for a week and now very behind on my editing. Not sure who to call or what to do. Please help!! Thank you!!!
What does the crash report say about the name of the faulting module?
Yes, crashes like that are usually due to the video card driver. (though I was guessing from the original description that the image was just not drawing)
Have you tried disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop before opening a document?
Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website? -
When I open it, Firefox freezes after less than a minute of use. After waiting a few minutes, it unfreezes but then freezes again a few seconds later. This happens regardless of the website I'm on. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and the problem didn't go away. I've even tried a clean reinstallation but it didn't work. This only happens on Firefox. IE and Safari work fine.

If it happened several weeks ago then probably not. If it happened a day ago, I would suggest to put it in a tub of dry rice to try and suck out all the remaining water. You could even put it in the oven at a VERY low temperature to try and get rid of the water; you would want to make sure it is only in there for a short period of time though.
If your warranty is expired, you could try and take it to Apple and they may help you out. Otherwise, your only option to fixing the problem would be to live without the speakers or take it to Apple to have them replace the speakers. The only issue there is that down the road, you may realize you have other problems with the phone. Other things may start to malfunction and before you know it, you will have spent as much money fixing your phone as you would buying a new one. -

I just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, which I think might be the culprit.
I had installed MacKeeper (big oops!) several weeks ago but was able to get rid of it by deleting all conduit/zeobit files with no problems afterward. Now after upgrading to Yosemite it is back. I tried getting rid of it with the same tactics I used before to no avail.

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. -
When I click on the firefox icon (windows 7) nothing happens. not even in safe mode. Nothing in the help article works. I've tried uninstalling twice.
Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.

After updating to the latest version 10.0.1 many websites render poorly (like they are crude html from the early 90s!). Further many sites refuse to load such as Facebook and Gmail. I can get Gmail to work if I turn off Google Labs (and I only have one or two stable plug ins from Labs that haven't changed in a long time). Other sites affected include WEBCT BB based sites.

i would suggest the following steps:
1. goto application manager, find firefox, press all available button to clear everything.
if it doesn't work, proceed with:
2. uninstall firefox
3. turn off the phone, boot into recovery mode and wipe the cache (this is NOT hard reset and you will not lose your stuff).
4. reboot and reinstall firefox

Won't boot in windows safe mode
I have a satellite 205, 20 months old, that began intermittently going to blue screen, then the problem became permanent upon start-up, including a partial display of windows logon screen, then the blue screen wtih message, "attempt to reset display driver & recover from time out failed", with reference to driver igdkmd32.sys. I could boot in safe mode. Attempts to update the driver resulted in a successful boot once, but soon went back to blue screen and boot menu. I restored with CD to out-of-box condition, but no improvement; worse if anything. It continuously recycles after initial start-up window and won't even reboot in safe mode. It shows a couple of bands of screen when trying to start windows, including black dots and even strange sound like a plucked guitar string. I booted from CD several times, and ran memory checks and chkdsk, even reset the memory. No problems revealed.
I can't find anything else to try and would appreciate any suggestions.I restored with CD to out-of-box condition, but no improvement; worse if anything.
