Flash wont play embedded videos only on some accounts

Here is my system and software configuration. Windows7 - IE8 32 bit -- latest Flash version. Flash plays embedded videos under administrator account but not on the other user accounts. Youtube and tests on adobe site shows flash working on all accounts. I've checked IE security settings and kill bit in the registry. Harware acceleration does not make a difference. I've unloaded and loaded Flash multiple times even in the other accounts changing account type to administrator temporarily. Nothing will make it work. I've checked firewall and Norton AV turning them on and off. I am out of ideas and out of patience. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, just wanted to tell this is exactly the same problems I have. And I have tested like you said. My administrator user account can show embeded videos correctly, but both my non-adm user account can not show correctly embeded. And tried to change non-adm account to adm - did not help.
System: Vista home, IExplorer 9
Videos on Youtube.com plays perfect and the adobe "about" flash page shows I have installed latest and I see a spinning logo with my non-adm users.
I have also checked the kill-bit in registery.
But I did find out something, unfortunally it's not a solution, but a clue what's going on - I hope.
If I open this example webpage, all I can see are 2 blank frames and a icon in upper left corner.
If I open same weblink with my adminastror, I can see the videos.

After alot of search on the web, I found some ideas. Copy the below text and save it as "test.html", and open the file in IExplorer. This html text is a mix of collected html-text from above webpage and added some from youtube.com where you get the html-code to copy&paste to embed. The source at end is using IFRAME methode.
The only visible embeded sources using my non-adm account are those that has a "classid" added or IFRAME methode. If there is no "classid" my non-adm account only sees a blank frame and icon in upper left. My administrator account does see ALL sources.
But how to fix that I can see all embeded as non-adm user - sorry, I have no clue
One extra thing: I noticed when running IExplorer as non-adm user, I can see a line in the process-list in windows taskmananger, process-name "FlashUtil10n_ActiveX.exe" with info-text "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.2r152" if I try to view a webpage with flash source.
If I do the same thing with my administrator user this process is not listed in windows taskmanager.

That's very odd, you could try what android said.

I was having the same issue up until I found a solution myself a few minutes ago. If you have "Accept Third Party Cookies" un-checked it will not allow the embedded "Third party" youtube videos to load. You can either Check the box to allow third party cookies or add an exception to allow youtube.com WITHOUT the www. You just want it to be Youtube.Com.
To do so just go to Tools: Options: Privacy: Exceptions: Type in Youtube.com and click Allow. Then click Close and OK. It should start working immediately.

I have FF "4.4.10" but when browsing some websites it will not play the video, instead displays messages: 'Plugins are req'd to display media on this page',
'FLASH OR HTML5 browser req for video playback' !!!! yet they play perfectly in Chrome no messing.
This happens on both a WinXP (FF v16) and a Win7 laptop.

I read FLASH is highly discredited, so dont want to install it.
I thought FF was supposed to play HTLM5 videos 'out of the box' without need of 'Addons' ?

Google Chrome comes with its own version of the Flash plugin.<br />
Firefox needs its own Flash plugin, so make sure that the Flash plugin for Firefox is installed.
Do you have the Flash plugin installed and does the test site confirm that the plugin works?

No sound with Flash 9 with embedded video?

this is very strange. i cannot get any sound w/ Flash Player
9 in Internet Explorer (IE) with playing embedded video. problem
occurs with many websites with embedded youtube or other flash
videos. when those sites are loaded, the sound bar was set to zero,
but there is no sound even if i drag it to a higher level. yet,
when the same video is played from youtube directly, it works
perfectly.
when i uninstall Flash 8 or 9 and reinstall an older version
such as Flash 7, the sound plays perfectly without problem in all
website wth the sound bar set to the correct level.
i am running win xp professional sp2. latest updates/patches
installed. ie 6.
i have tried the following:
1. the k-lite codec trick - does not work.
2. scanned for virus/spyware - none found.
3. uninstall all Flash w/ adobe uninstaller and reinstall the
latest build - does not work.
4. clean out all registry entries related to flash and
reinstall - does not work
5. deleted quicktime - does not work

Can't play embedded videos in Safari

I'm using Version 6.0.2 and I can't play embedded videos. Youtube is fine but if someone includes a video in a blog post, for example, there's a big white blank space where the vid is supposed to be. It happens in both Safari and Firefox. I've paused AdBlock and can't think of what else might be causing the problem. I'm running Virus Barrier X6, if that's any help, although it hasn't been a problem in the past. Could it be an extension?

After some messing around, I found out that I can't press the red/white play button on the middle of the picture. For some reason, that isn't clickable anymore. Instead, if I press anywhere on the picture preview except for the red/white play button, then the video will play fine.
I Don't remember having to do that before, but at least I can watch embedded videos again.

How to play embedded video in PDF

Hi, does anybody know if it's possibible to play embedded video in PDF. We created PDF's with embedded MP4 content that plays nicely in Adobe Reader Win/Mac version but not under Android.

Embedded video only plays once

I have created a PDF from a Word document. I am now at embedding videos (MP4). I am using the advanced option to play the videos in a floating window. When I play them back on the host computer it works fine. I can start a video, activate the controls and close the window, then restart and the video and it re-runs OK. However when I save the file and try and run it on another computer (without the full Acrobat) the video runs fine the first time, but when you rerun it it pops up in a blank window. If you click on the window boundary and drag it the video suddenly appears, but it will not appear as it should just by clicking the link on the PDF. Any suggestions?
PS I have just noticed that another large PDF file was open in a separate window, closing this appaers to have fixed it, but I dont think this behavior should happen.

Sounds like an issue with your display driver - video playback targets the driver directly, and some combinations of graphics card and display driver don't like more than one application hooking the video buffer at the same time.
Please log a bug report with complete information about your hardware (graphics card, display setup, driver versions, OS, etc.) - although I don't believe it's an Acrobat bug, it will help engineering to nail down what's causing it.

I can no longer play embedded videos on the BBC and Sky websites, how can I get them to play?.

When I try and run the embedded videos I getthe message that they cannot play and to try later. The error message was:

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
or
Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.

Can't play embedded videos. Shows large question mark where the video is.

Need some help. I'm not able to play any embedded videos and all I get is the big Q with a question mark over it. I've tried reinstalling and checked the permissions in the registry. The problem that I found is that in the QuickTime preferences, on the File Type menu, there is absolutely nothing in there, just a blank white space. Any suggestions?

Had the same problem; quicktime plugin would only work for administrative users not normal "limited" user. I temporarily promoted the user to administrator and the plugin worked fine. When I restored the user back to limited it still worked. I only had this problem on one computer so I don't really know the root cause. For reference, the computer was running Windows XP Pro, SP3, on a Windows Active Directory domain, using free Quicktime version 7.6.2.

Just installed the latest Version of Firefox and it wont play any videos or games? Help, so tired and frustrated with this web browser.

I just installed the newest version of Firefox version30. It wont play videos on youtube but i figured out what to do to fix that (change to "never activate" on Shockwave Flash add-on in plugins).
But if i leave that setting on then the game that i try to play on Facebook tells me turn on flash and when i do i still get a blank screen on FB. What do i need to do?

Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins". That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.
Also, I don't even see Flash listed as installed on Firefox. Are you sure you have it installed? Try downloading it from the below site

ITunes 10.6.3 wont play music videos

No music videos will play on my retina macbook pro. Only the sound plays.

Thanks for the reply. I just solved this issue. The last time I had played music in iTunes on my laptop I had done so through my Airport Express. For some reason it still believed I was streaming through the Airport Express even though it was off and wouldn't play the video. Once I turned back on the airport express and then deselected it from available speaker the video for music videos returned!

Quicktime plays no video only audio.

When i try to play online videos the file loads and quicktime only plays the audio portion (no video). I'm not sure how to fix this please help.

Post the URL/link of the video website you are having issues with.
Make sure you have one and/or all of the following installed:
Flip4Mac
VLC Media Player
Perian (AVI and FLV support)
Make sure you have the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player Software
Repair permissions & restart after installation of software.

Delay in playing embedded video on page load – DPS

Hi
I've created some DPS pages with embedded video content that plays on page load but there is a slight delay causing the page below to be exposed which in turn creates a jump between the underlying page and the loading video.
The video should load, play then disappear revealing the native InDesign page which also is a crisp version of the last frame of the video that has ended.
I don't use a poster image because it renders at a low resolution and is not as crisp as the vector based text below in the native InDesign page.
The page below is what is shown once the video has finished and closed down.
This delay causes a glitch which ruins the fluidity of an otherwise nice looking page.
I'm trying to re-create something along the same lines as the "Martha Stewart Living magazine" video front cover which is seamless and very slick.
Do you know how I can achieve this without the slow loading vid and help make the effect smoother.

From your description it sounds like you are trying to trigger auto-play using Media panel. For DPS you need to set the behaviour in the Folio Overlays panel. Click on the video, open the Folio Overlay panel, and check the Auto-play setting. If you are doing this as a cover you probably also want to enable "do not allow pause".

Probably because the site uses Flash or Java which the iPod (and all iDevices) do not support). If you post the site that would help.
