Delay in playing embedded video on page load – DPS

Hi
I've created some DPS pages with embedded video content that plays on page load but there is a slight delay causing the page below to be exposed which in turn creates a jump between the underlying page and the loading video.
The video should load, play then disappear revealing the native InDesign page which also is a crisp version of the last frame of the video that has ended.
I don't use a poster image because it renders at a low resolution and is not as crisp as the vector based text below in the native InDesign page.
The page below is what is shown once the video has finished and closed down.
This delay causes a glitch which ruins the fluidity of an otherwise nice looking page.
I'm trying to re-create something along the same lines as the "Martha Stewart Living magazine" video front cover which is seamless and very slick.
Do you know how I can achieve this without the slow loading vid and help make the effect smoother.

From your description it sounds like you are trying to trigger auto-play using Media panel. For DPS you need to set the behaviour in the Folio Overlays panel. Click on the video, open the Folio Overlay panel, and check the Auto-play setting. If you are doing this as a cover you probably also want to enable "do not allow pause".

Flash wont play embedded videos only on some accounts

Here is my system and software configuration. Windows7 - IE8 32 bit -- latest Flash version. Flash plays embedded videos under administrator account but not on the other user accounts. Youtube and tests on adobe site shows flash working on all accounts. I've checked IE security settings and kill bit in the registry. Harware acceleration does not make a difference. I've unloaded and loaded Flash multiple times even in the other accounts changing account type to administrator temporarily. Nothing will make it work. I've checked firewall and Norton AV turning them on and off. I am out of ideas and out of patience. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, just wanted to tell this is exactly the same problems I have. And I have tested like you said. My administrator user account can show embeded videos correctly, but both my non-adm user account can not show correctly embeded. And tried to change non-adm account to adm - did not help.
System: Vista home, IExplorer 9
Videos on Youtube.com plays perfect and the adobe "about" flash page shows I have installed latest and I see a spinning logo with my non-adm users.
I have also checked the kill-bit in registery.
But I did find out something, unfortunally it's not a solution, but a clue what's going on - I hope.
If I open this example webpage, all I can see are 2 blank frames and a icon in upper left corner.
If I open same weblink with my adminastror, I can see the videos.

After alot of search on the web, I found some ideas. Copy the below text and save it as "test.html", and open the file in IExplorer. This html text is a mix of collected html-text from above webpage and added some from youtube.com where you get the html-code to copy&paste to embed. The source at end is using IFRAME methode.
The only visible embeded sources using my non-adm account are those that has a "classid" added or IFRAME methode. If there is no "classid" my non-adm account only sees a blank frame and icon in upper left. My administrator account does see ALL sources.
But how to fix that I can see all embeded as non-adm user - sorry, I have no clue
One extra thing: I noticed when running IExplorer as non-adm user, I can see a line in the process-list in windows taskmananger, process-name "FlashUtil10n_ActiveX.exe" with info-text "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.2r152" if I try to view a webpage with flash source.
If I do the same thing with my administrator user this process is not listed in windows taskmanager.

How to play embedded video in PDF

Hi, does anybody know if it's possibible to play embedded video in PDF. We created PDF's with embedded MP4 content that plays nicely in Adobe Reader Win/Mac version but not under Android.

We are sorry, this is not yet supported in Adobe Reader on Android.

Can't play embedded videos in Safari

I'm using Version 6.0.2 and I can't play embedded videos. Youtube is fine but if someone includes a video in a blog post, for example, there's a big white blank space where the vid is supposed to be. It happens in both Safari and Firefox. I've paused AdBlock and can't think of what else might be causing the problem. I'm running Virus Barrier X6, if that's any help, although it hasn't been a problem in the past. Could it be an extension?

After some messing around, I found out that I can't press the red/white play button on the middle of the picture. For some reason, that isn't clickable anymore. Instead, if I press anywhere on the picture preview except for the red/white play button, then the video will play fine.
I Don't remember having to do that before, but at least I can watch embedded videos again.

Pause Video on Page Load

I am not able to pause video on page load in Oracle webcenter.I used HTML markup to embed a video.Any Help?

Try checking the html ebed code for your flash flv and look
in the flash vars line and make sure it reads something like
autoPlay=false. Check the entire code and change all of the
autoPlays to false... See if that works for you.

I can no longer play embedded videos on the BBC and Sky websites, how can I get them to play?.

When I try and run the embedded videos I getthe message that they cannot play and to try later. The error message was:

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
or
Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.

Safari Extension On doesn't play embedded video

Hi everybody,
I've a Macbook pro with Lion and i'm using the last version of Safari.
On many sites but also in facebook i cannot play the embedded video my friends are posting. Once i click on them it became a blank space in the middle of the page.
I tried many solution but at the end the working one is to go into Safari Preferences, Extension and set it on OFF.
Why?
There's any solution about it?

Can't play embedded videos. Shows large question mark where the video is.

Need some help. I'm not able to play any embedded videos and all I get is the big Q with a question mark over it. I've tried reinstalling and checked the permissions in the registry. The problem that I found is that in the QuickTime preferences, on the File Type menu, there is absolutely nothing in there, just a blank white space. Any suggestions?

Had the same problem; quicktime plugin would only work for administrative users not normal "limited" user. I temporarily promoted the user to administrator and the plugin worked fine. When I restored the user back to limited it still worked. I only had this problem on one computer so I don't really know the root cause. For reference, the computer was running Windows XP Pro, SP3, on a Windows Active Directory domain, using free Quicktime version 7.6.2.

ADF Regions - Embedding region pagedef & Page load

Hi,
I'm working with regions in JDev 10.1.3.2. The problem I'm having is this: I have a page that uses a region with its own pagedef. So, I added a <page> element in the parent page's pagedef referencing the pagedef of the region and set the 'value' attribute in the <af:region> tag to the page element in the binding container.
So far so good, the inclusion of the pagedef works fine. The thing is that the region has some "On page load" behavior, implemented following one of Steve Muench's not yet documented apps. In the pagedef of the region I specify the 'ControllerClass' attribute to a backing bean with an EL. If I run the page every thing is rendered but an error appears saying "Missing class #{...}" and therefore the onPageLoad behavior is not executed. If I specify the ControllerClass with the fully qualified name of the class a "ClassCastException" is thrown.
If I run the page as a stand-alone jsp it works fine, the problem must have something to do with the whole pagedef embedding business...
Any help or insight is appreciated.

I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm being completely and utterly ignored. Either I didn't explain the problem well or the problem isn't solvable. I just want anyone, and I mean anyone at all to tell me:
a) "The problem has no solution, wait for the production release of JDev 11"
b) "I'm having the same problem"
c) "We are working on it"
d) "Please don't ask anything else about regions, we released them without proper testing. So some things are going to work and the others may work or not."

Cannot play embedded video in ibook

Hi All
I downloaded an iBook - the latest Max Hastings - that includes embedded videos. However on my iPad2 although the book is readable where there should be videos to play it is replaced with text saying 'Your device does not support this embedded video' I have tried deleting and downloading again and it is also the same on my iPhone5. However, someone else on the iTunes website has said it plays fine on his device. I am going to wait for ios7 to see if it works with this. Any other ideas? Anyone experienced this before with iBooks?

Embedded videos won't load - Captivate 7

I've embedded several videos into an e-learning lesson using the Insert Video function (not the Youtube interaction). After publishing, the videos load just fine when the lesson is played from the folder to where it was published. However, when I move the lesson (and all associated folders such as assets, etc) onto the server using SFTP to make these available on our intranet, the e-learning launches, but none of the videos will load. The loading message just hangs and refreshes.

If you're trying to run this content from a network LAN server then your issue is almost certainly going to be due to Flash Global Security:

Either set up to trust the LAN server or else serve your content from a web server over HTTP.

Why won't swf file play embedded videos?

I created a swf file in inDesign. I embedded 3 videos within the document, all of which are embedded (stored on my host's server). I created the videos in Premiere Pro, saving them as H.264 (mp4), with sound codec AAC. I placed each video on its appropriate page in inDesign using the media dialogue box, choosing a poster image and a set of controls that become visible when hovered over. The swf file I placed onto a webpage in Adobe Muse, then uploaded that page to its host. When the website comes up, and I click on the page that holds the swf file, it looks good ... I have page-turning applied, and that works fine. But, when I go to click on a video, the frame just disappears.
Here's the caveat: After saving the swf file, I opted for it to open in my browser window. When inspecting the file in the browser, the videos work fine.
I have opened the webpage in Chrome, Firefox & IE, but the videos won't play.

Please help, if you can. I would hate to have to start over by rebuilding every single page in inDesign file inside of Muse (since Muse can't take a PDF file. I thought about saving each ID page as a jpg, then building a fullscreen slideshow in Muse, then placiing each page inside of the slideshow presentation .. then writing html code into those jpg pages in order to link my videos from vimeo or youtube ... but I dont' want to go that route. I've put in way too many hours as it is.

Play embedded video onclick

I wish to trigger an embedded flash video to start playing by
clicking on some text ("click here to play") on the page. How do I
do this?
I have selected the text and made a null link in the property
inspector window. I believe the next step is to apply a javascript
behavior, but there are no inbuilt behaviors to do this. What
javascript code would accomplish this? How/where do I enter this
code?

You could likely search for a javascript, but I I don't think
it would link to anything in the movie without building the flv
into a flash movie, and setting up some sort of parameter within
there (though I'm not postive about that - you may have better luck
searching on the flash forum for that info...)
When you place your flv on the page, though, you are give a
series of options in the wizard tool (e.g. checkboxes to select
whether or not you want the movie to loop, size, etc.) One of the
options is to choose a "skin" - this is the toolbar that is created
that will eliminate the need for a text button. The skin has a play
button, pause, etc - basically all of the things you see on a
typical youtube video placed directly underneath the video.
Selecting a skin will create a new .swf file in your directory that
links to your flv file on the page - you will need to be sure to
upload all associated files to the web server for the movie to play
correctly...

QuickTime 7.5.5, Cannot Play Embedded Video on this Update

I recently updated te the latest version of QuickTime Update (7.5.5), and for some reason, I cannot view emedded or streaming video...for example the new promos and TV commercials on Apple.com, etc...I see the QuickTime logo, with a large question mark in front of it....am I missing a plugin of some sort, or what's the deal? It worked fine before? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi I'm having the same problem over here.
Quicktime worked just fine before the major iTunes update a few days ago. I first noticed this problem when I couldn't see Apple's new commercials for the new iPod touch games on their website, and then tonight, as I was on the interblag, any embedded audio or video content wouldn't play, but instead just stared at me with a "?" mark.
Even sites that have a "download" link for audio (the ones where once you click on the link you are taken to a dark grey screen with just the quicktime player in the middle and the song will start playing), you know, the ones where you have to right-click the links and choose "Download Linked File" won't work, because when you right-click the link and choose "Download Linked File", your Safari download will stop and say "error- missing file" or something like it.
To rule out any easy fixes that you might have in mind,
- Latest hardware/software (iMac 3.06GHz, Leopard 10.5.5, All software up-to-date...)
- Tried re-intsalling quicktime (which requires computer restarts)
- Tried trashing quicktime THEN re-installing quicktime
- Tried re-installing quicktime, then re-installing flip4mac
- Tried threatening my computer verbally
Along with xharris, any help with this problem would be lovely.

Acrobat will not play embedded videos...

After embedding a video, I click on it and it will not play. However, our IT guy opened the .pdf file in Acrobat Reader and it played just fine. So his solution is to do my work in Acrobat 11 Pro, then check that it works in Reader.
So, according to him, I need to get out of the program I'm in and check my work in another.
Sorry, but to me, this seems goofy.
So my question is: Should I be able to watch the video I just embedded in Acrobat? And if so, how do I do it?

According to our IT guy, Flashplayer is installed. However, when I click on the video in Acrobat, I get the message, "To view the flash technology in this PDF file, please install the required version of flash player".
I'm beginning to think the IT guy doesn't know what he's doing.
