Flv to jpeg

Hi,
I have to grap a frame from a flv (flash video format) file and save it as jpeg, how can i do?
I read the flv specification and can get the H263 Video Packet in byte array, then I was stuck as I don't know how to convert it to jpeg.
appreciate for any help. Thanks!

Can you visualize your *.flv packet in JAVA? Can you see the picture? I guess not, because *.flv is not genuine H263 format, but a bit modificated..
If you can see it on the screen, converting it into *.jpg shouldn't be a problem.

  • How to create a slide combining an FLV and jpeg for use in PP?

I am using the CS4 Master Collection. I want to integrate slides into my DVD curriculum project. I would like to use the flv as the background, put a slightly smaller jpeg (or other graphic) translucent tinted panel on top of it, and then my text. Can it be done?

What I have is a nice FLV from istockphoto that I want to use as sort of a bottom layer, put a static tinted translucent layer on top of it, and finally the text layer. Then put it in PP. It would make a nice slide I think as I move from the talking head to various graphics. Is there a Title template perhaps that is translucent that would show the FLV underneath and I could easily add the text?
Maybe this question should be posed in the Flash or Photoshop forum?

  • Start up Image (.jpeg) for a .flv

Is there a way to have a nice start up image (.jpeg)  showing instead of the 1st frame of a .flv without creating a .swf . in Flash.
Looking to create it using html code- is this possible???

You shouldn't need to create another swf file.  You should be able to set the poster frame in Flash for a Flash Video.  Here's a good tutorial on it:

  • Files downloading as FLV instead of MP3

I hope that I am writing this in the correct place. My files are all downloading into flv format even though it is stored on the website as MP3, I can see the file change from MP3 to mp3.flv when I click download, and this is annoying especially when trying to download alot of mp3 files. I looked into the SWF and FLV player that is installed and there is no options for downloaded files to be changed. If anyone is familiar with this I would greatly appreciate the input.
    Thanks

Like the others say, it would really help if you provide a link to a file. It's also possible that your server isn't sending back the right Content-type header for the file. Here are example headers for a JPEG and a PNG:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Date: Fri, 29 Jan 2010 05:20:59 GMT
    Server: Apache/2.0.50 (Fedora)
    Last-Modified: Wed, 01 Jul 2009 20:44:56 GMT
    ETag: "ab8014-9f3-fef24200"
    Accept-Ranges: bytes
    Content-Length: 2547
    Content-Type: image/jpeg
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Date: Fri, 29 Jan 2010 05:21:51 GMT
    Server: Apache/2.0.50 (Fedora)
    Last-Modified: Wed, 20 May 2009 17:09:53 GMT
    ETag: "9c4180-45cb-18885a40"
    Accept-Ranges: bytes
    Content-Length: 17867
    Content-Type: image/png
But it's impossible to know without a link. Or, you can open up the Terminal application and use this command (customize the URL for your site, obviously):
    curl -I http://sitename/path/to/mp3.mp3
That will return just the headers so you can see what the server thinks it's pushing out...

  • Can you encode an flv in Compressor with letterbox bars?

I am trying to encode a 1280x720 Quicktime movie to a 320x240 flv. I have compressed it 8 times already varying settings each time to get it to not squish the content to fit the 320x240 frame to no avail. Each separate setting squish the video. I believe "Padding" the top and bottom of the frame is the way to go, but the controls are deactivated when encoding an flv. I have read through he pdfs and have found no help. I even relaunched the software thinking it might be glitching up.
    Any thoughts?

What version of Compressor are you using? You could transcode to an intermediate format first, i.e. ProRes or Photo JPEG @ 75% quality, and letterbox it that way, before encoding to FLV.
    From http://codecs.onerivermedia.com/ - 4:2:2 Compressed Codec Formats
PhotoJPEG at its highest 100% quality setting is actually a 4:4:4 codec. When reduced down to 75%, it switches to 4:2:2 to help with the compression scheme. So why is it included here? The AJA Kona SD and Blackmagic Design DeckLink use this codec at 75% quality for its default offline compressed mode and with good reason. Virtually no banding in the gradients and average mosquito edging on the RGB colors. The compression artifacts are really only noticeable in the NTSC color bars and a little in the color filter test. And look at the x10 generation test... almost a pixel-perfect copy of the first generation! It actually passes through generations better than Kona's own 10-bit Trillions codec. Amazing! And look at that file size! Only 2.7 MB per second! That's better bandwidth (and way better quality) than DV can ever dream of. This codec truly can pass for an online codec with no problem. Best part is this codec is free to any QuickTime user, can be used on any platform and runs great even on PowerBooks.
To automate the process, you can select your job and choose New Job With Target Output from the Job menu, and add your FLV setting there.

  • FLV is different length depending on player

    Hi all!
I'm not very experienced with Flash, and I may not know the
proper terms so...please bear with me! I really need some help
    figuring this out.
I have an FLV file that I'm streaming from my website (along
with others), but when it streams it doesn't play the whole video.
Here's what I've figured out: when I view it in a player like VLC
or Media Player Classic the whole video appears and plays (3:56),
but when I view it in an actual FLV player it only recognizes and
plays the video as being 3:35.
    What...the heck is going on?
    Here's
a link to the video if you'd like to download and look at it.
Incidentally, I did not convert this video.
Could someone please explain to me what's going on?
    Thanks!

.CR2 is Canon's propitiatory raw file format. A raw file contains the raw information from your camera's sensor, unlike other formats such as .JPG
Since, I gather, you are using the JPEG format, you won't see any benefit from using the ProPhoto colorspace (the camera is already saving as either sRGB or Adobe RGB, and has compressed information).
Pictured in my previous post is Adobe Camera Raw, which is Photoshop's Raw file editor. It's editing functions are nearly the same as Lightroom.
In Lightroom these are the two places you need to change it:
    You're very welcome!

  • Imported FLV Publish Compression Settings?

I have a 5.2 meg FLV video a client has sent me. They want a
getURL script at the end of the clip so the Web browser goes to a
Web page after the clip is finished playing. To do this, I imported
the FLV into a Flash FLA document as "Embed video in SWF and play
    in timeline".
When I export this, the SWF is 5.2 megs, like the imported
FLV. The JPEG Publish Settings don't affect that.
Is there a way to compress imported FLV files?
    Thanks!

The FLV file is already compressed but need not be placed in
    the FLV file
creating the large file size. Rather, play the FLV as an
    external source.
Done this way, the compiled SWF file can be kept quite small.
See the FLVPlayback component in the ActionScript 2.0
    components of the Help
    files.

  • How do I play flv videos on iOS?

I use netconnect and netstream in my actionscript 3 flash player for desktop FLV video playback. But now I would like to add support for Apple iPad.
I recently upgraded to Flash Developer Pro CS6 as part of my master suite upgrade.  I was hoping for an HTML5 solution, but a large FLA conversion does not seem likely.
So now I think I will have to port my FLA actionscript 3 code and the various assests for tooltips and buttons as an AIR application.
Is publishing my SWF as an AIR app the correct way to support mobile iOS devices? Any example code solutions out there? Any gotchas?
Here is a link to my flash player overview video that I call "LectureMaker's Cross-domain video platform" for reference:
    http://www.lecturemaker.com/products_services/cross-domain-video-platform/#video
I see old references to this question, but I think it is time to revisit this problem with some fresh ideas hopefully....

Yes, i checked my source files which are not UTF-8. When i do keep these files on Japanese system, it displays Japanese characters but on any other system it displays garbage.
My Oracle Database is on normal windows system hence it reads it as a garbage.
Could you please suggest any method to change these files as UTF-8. I have 30,000 XML files for this loading.
Is there any way to handle this issue in Oracle itself.
    Please suggest.

  • Trouble with Firefox - Embedded .flv screws up layout

The following site was created as a photoshop .html. I created a blank box in the middle of the page that I later used Dreamweaver CS4 to remove the dummy 380x286 .jpeg and insert my 380x286 .flv in the empty table. Renders great in Safari and IE, but when viewed in Firefox, extra spaces are inserted around the page, throwing off the whole layout. Does anyone have any suggestions???

  • Flv doesn't work in DW CS4

I've been trying to get a flv video to work with a dreamweaver skin, but I only get this graphic displaying all the buttons.
I've attached a jpeg of the graphic and the code. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks!

I would think this is a swf (.fla) issue instead of DWCS4. What do you mean by using a DW sk
in? Are you trying to avoid using the default player controls in Flash or wanting to change them
? (that sounds the same but the approach isn't depending on your desires)

  • Problem inserting flv file in template generated page

    http://www.jdcdemo.com/blf8/video.html
I am attempting to add a page with flv videos of a client's
tv commercials. I want to use the template I have used to create
most of the other pages on the site. It works well and I have had
no problems. When I attempt to add the flv file to the page, I get
this error: "Making this change would require changing code that is
locked by a template or translator. The change will be discarded."
Just for grins, I tried dragging a jpeg onto the page and
that worked fine with no error. I use the Lynda dot com tutorials
and as far as I can tell, I am following the correct procedure.
Being now at my wits end, I will appreciate comments from those who
    know much more than I.
    TIA,
    Joie

The problem is that when you are putting the flv in a child,
    when your
dialog box pops up, uncheck "Prompt useres to download Flash
    Player if
    neccasary"
    That should do it.

If you have her Perian (free) codec package installed, then use the MPEG Streamclip (free) converter. DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264 video and DV, AAC, Linear PCM (Big or Little Endian), 8-bit unsigned, etc. audio formats are known to be compatible with iMovie '08.
