Focus should not be lost on mouse click

hai,
i have a problem with validating a jtextfield,
i wrote a code for that jtextfield, such that if any error occurs while entring the message is shown on focus is gained on to that textfield, even if user tries to move to the next component using tab he should correct the entry only then focus is shown to the next component on pressing tab,but this failed with mouse click,i mean other than tab if he uses mouse and click on the next component it goes to the next componenet without validating the textfield entry.
so please help me in disabling mouse click event.

how are you validating it then? Using a focus listener for focuseLost() shouldn't care about tab or mouse clicks.

  • JTree - setSelectionPath not the same as mouse click

I have a JTree. Selecting a node on it with a mouse displays a panel in a neighbouring area. However, I also need to select a node programatically. I have tried using JTree.setSelectedPath(), JTree.getSelectionModel().setSelectionPath() and a few variations thereof. All these methods highlight the node but do not bring up the panel alongside. The widgets are in a framework, so I am limited in changing that.
Why is a mouse click different from a set selection path? The keyboard works fine too if I navigate using the arrow keys and then press Enter. Strangely, clicking anywhere within the JTree after selecting the node programatically also works. I am using JDK 1.3.

    Hi DB,
Try restoring the connection (right click on the source system - restore).
    Hope this helps.

  • ICal not responding properly to mouse click

When I open ical and click on a to do in the To Dos window the result moves to a much earlier to do and I have to scroll down the window to find the one I am looking for. This always happens but only on the first try. Anybody know why this happens or wether it is a known bug that may be fixed in a coming update?
    Thanks,
    George

I don't know if this is a "known" (to Apple) bug, but I believe it's the same bug that routinely frustrates me. I need to report it. The problem I see, which sounds like yours, can be reproduced as follows.
    1. Make a new empty calendar. Disable (un-check) all other calendars.
    2. Make sure the To Do panel is showing (under the Views menu).
    3. Add a new To Do item (call it "fubar" or whatever). Make it due today.
    4. Highlight the "fubar" To Do item, and press Command-D (Edit -> Duplicate) repeatedly until there are so many copies of the item that the To Do panel is full and scroll bars appear.
    5. Select the first To Do item (the first copy of "fubar").
    6. Click on (select with the mouse) the day in the "due date" in the Info drawer.
    7. Press the up arrow once to advance the day by one day, and the To Do item should drop to the bottom of the list. (The item now happens one day later than the others.)
    8. Use the scroll bars OR the mouse wheel (if you have one) to scroll the To Do list back to the top.
    9. Use the mouse to try and click on the first (top) To Do item in the list. (That item was the second item, until step 7.) You should see that instead of selecting the first/top item, you have actually selected the second (or third) item. Doh!
As I said, I think this is the same bug you are seeing. I will report it.

  • New tabs will not open (ctrl-T, mouse click or menu)

For some reason I cannot open a new tab unless I right click on a hyperlink on the existing tab and select "open in new tab". When I click "File/New Tab" nothing happens. When I click the plus sign on the tab list nothing happens. When I press Ctrl T nothing happens.
By the way, IE has the same problem and started at the same time.

Try uninstalling the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and the current version of Firefox.

  • TS4554 My app store will not respond to any mouse clicks.

I recently upgraded my harddrive.  Everything appeard to upgrade fine, but now when I launch the App Store, it just freezes.  I can't click any of the options, I can't close it with the mouse, I have to use Command Q to quit.

    Quit the application.
In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/
com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
    chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.

  • I can't hear a mouse click

    Hey,
On a slide, after you insert the mouse, isn't there something I should do to hear the mouse click.  I've already got all of the buttons checked under the mouse properties(show mouse click and mouse click sound).  Now, shouldn't I simply hear a click at the end of the mouse object? Is there some kind of global setting I am missing?
    What gives?
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    Hi there
Mouse click sounds exist as an audio file and are not recorded. While I'm not one of the Captivate Development team, it is my understanding that all that is recorded are the starting and ending points as well as the pointer in use.
Of course Mouse object provides click sounds. The evidence is in the dialog.
A bit of a mystery as to why you may not be hearing them. Any chance of sharing your project so one of us may see first hand?
    Cheers... Rick

  • ITunes store gets buggy with Genius on, won't register mouse clicks?

I am having a problem in the iTunes store on my MacBook Pro. If I turn on Genius, iTunes ends up not responding to my mouse clicks. I will have to click multiple times in quick succession to get it to register the click, then often those multiple clicks will finally register and it will tell me I've already purchased an item (several times) because the clicks will finally get recognized.
Anyone else finding Genius to cause problems with their mouse in the store? At least, I think it's Genius, because when I turned it off, my mouse clicks were once again recognized on the first click.

    Hi,
I had the same problem once in a while, until I noticed that it was not actually an iTunes issue.
Don't ask me why, but I noticed that iTunes did not have the "focus" (in spite of the iTune Application label that shows that iTunes is the front app). So "double clicking" is a way to first get the focus, then click. Then iTunes' main window loses the focus again. Again, don't ask me why.
My solution is to CMD-TAB until iTunes is the front application and then single click works again.
So pay attention the next time it happens and see if it works for you.
    I hope this helps.

  • Non Responsive to my mouse click

I'm new to Mac and I'm not sure if my problem sounds strange... Yesterday after I entered a web page in Safarai, I found that some buttons in the page did not responsed to my mouse click no matter how 'hard' I tried... The strange thing is that only some of the buttons / hyperlinks are not responsive. But if I use my PC to visit the same web page, there is no such problem.
Does anyone encounter something like this before? How to fix it? thanks.

I've encountered this problem with a few sites, notably airline ticket ordering pages. I get to the end of the process, go to "confirm purchase", and nothing. Very frustrating. Definitely "poor coding" is at play.
The resolution to the frustration was using Firefox for these type of transactions.
Have a look at your Bank's FAQ section, specifically "browsers". Do you see anything about browser compatability?

  • Mouse Click Event

Hi, can any one tell me how to capture the mouse click event in the report ? For example suppose the user is double clicking in a perticular coulmn in a report output, I want to show him/her a message.

    Feroze,
I think it is not possible to capture mouse click at report runtime. But you can use buttons in report. It will work.

  • How to simulate mouse click

    Hello,
is it possible to simulate and control a mouse click in windows with labview 7.1. I am able to control the mouse coordinates but not right and left mouse click. Is there a available VI that can do that?
    Lukas

I have answered this in the other thread where you asked this. Please don't post the same questions to multiple threads.
After looking at the VI there, it uses the PostMessage function to post a mouse down message to a specific window. You can try using MouseEvent or SendInput to simulate a general mouse click (One of them is no longer supported, I can't remember which. You can find the details in the MSDN).

  • Focus not in item navigated to after mouse click

    Hi,
We have moved a custom Form from 6i to 10g. This form works perfectly fine in the older instance.
However, in R12 we're facing this problem.
When the form opens, the control is on a radio group which has 3 buttons, one of which is hidden. The hidden button is the one that is selected by default. This is to done so that none of the displayed radio buttons are selected by default and the user is forced to select one. Only when he does so, he can proceed to enter the remaining fields.
There is a text item attached to an LOV which is the first text item on this form next to the radio group. The WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE trigger for this text item checks if one of the visible radio buttons have been selected, if not, it throws a message to select one and the focus goes back to the radio group.
However, in R12, when I click on the text item, the WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE trigger does not fire at all. When I check in diagnostics, the control is still on the radio button, even though the cursor shows it is on the text field. Thus when I try to click on the LOV for the text field I get a "Field does not understand operation error" as the focus is not really on the text field.
If I tab out, then the focus DOES go to the text item and the WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE trigger fires, displaying the message as expected. But again, the cursor is still positioned on the text item and not on the radio group. This may prompt the user to click on the LOV field again for the text item.
Since the same code works perfectly fine in our 11.5.9 instance, i was wondering if this is a problem related to R12?
Has anyone faced a similar problem? Any pointers in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pavan,
Thanks for your suggestions. I figured the solution to my problem. The problem is in 10g, go_item will not work if we're trying to navigate to a disabled or hidden item. In my case, since go_item was trying to navigate to a radio button which was hidden, it wasn't working. This used to work in the earlier releases.
I will have to modify the logic accordingly.
    Thanks.

  • Lose of focus (mouse click/enter key)

    Hello,
we have a problem customers are complaining about for quite a while now, but despite our efforts, we can not fix it or at least determine with certainty the problem cause.
We have an application launching forms apps, and from time-to-time we completely lose the focus on this form (generally after typing ENTER in a filter), I mean by focus, we cannot click anymore (cursor seems to stay on a object), we cannot press enter anymore (we get a 'Not defined key function') and so on...
I heard somewhere that it could be due to 'KEY-OTHERS' trigger not handling correctly the ENTER-KEY. But I need this trigger for my filters, or is there another way? KEY_ENTER does only navigate from field to another.
I found something which was able to remove focus lost (kind of a hack while trying to fix this on an on), but the problem is I had to remove this, because it blocks the opening of new windows or popups. It was a mouse-click trigger on forms triggers level:
    Go_Record(:System.Mouse_record);
    Go_Item(:System.Mouse_Item);
But this blocks any window opening, and it also blocks some other tools we have developed.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    G.
EDIT: Forms 11g, and I am pretty sure we had not that much problems with 10g
EDIT2: I read the same kind of topics in the forum, but no patch seems to help

this problem occurs with some of versions of JRE. Try with JRE JInitiator 1.3.1.22. Also unstalled all others JRE if exists.
A file called fmrpcweb.res has also been provided which gives the Microsoft Windows client/server keyboard mappings. To use this file, rename fmrpcweb.res to fmrweb_orig.res, and copy fmrpcweb.res to fmrweb.res. Alternatively, use the term parameter as described above.
By default, whether deploying client/server or over the Web pressing the ENTER key takes the cursor to the next navigable item in the block. To override this default behavior it is necessary to modify the forms resource file to revise the key mapping details.
Modify fmrweb.res and change the Forms Function Number (FFN) from 27 to 75 for the Return Key. The line should be changed to the following:
    10 : 0 : "Return" : 75 : "Return"
By default, the line is displayed with an FFN of 27 and looks as follows:
    10 : 0 : "Return" : 27 : "Return"
This line should NOT fire the Key-Enter trigger since the Return or Enter key is actually returning the Return function represented by the FFN of 27. The FFN of 75 represents the Enter function and fires the Key-Enter trigger.

  • Mail does not respond to mouse clicks properly

This bug in Mail started in Lion, and has continued (or possibly worsened in some instances) in Mountain Lion.  Has anybody heard of a fix?
Basically Mail acts like it is freezing, but in fact is not handling mouse clicks properly.
    1) If Mail is "behind" another active app window, clicking in the content area of the Mail window will not activate the window until you click a SECOND time.
    2) Once you get Mail to respond by clicking it the second time, if you click back and forth between it and the window in front (e.g. between safari and mail, the clicks DO register, but Mail acts as if the click position is offset from where you actually click.  The offset seems to vary and I haven't found a consistent link between the offset and where I click in mail or the other window, or the relative positions of the two windows.
    3) When you try the 2) trick on elements that can scroll, you realise that as well as an offset, Mail is trying to "drag" instead of respond to a click, so the list of mail folders pulls and bounces back, or the list of mail scrolls, or sometimes if everything lines up, an image of an envelope appears and moves as if you are trying to drag an email from one place to another.
    4) Clicking on the title/button/toolbar of Mail ALWAYS brings it to the front...
    5) If you bring Mail to the front by repeatedly clicking on the content area (and yes, sometimes it takes more than one click...) and as the FIRST thing you do after activating the window, click one of the buttons in the toolbar (e.g. the trash or delete button), it will depress, and stay down, as if you have done a "press and hold" instead of a "click".  Clicking on the button again will complete the action, but clicking elsewhere in the title bar will release the button and the action will not occur, just as if you had held the mouse button down and dragged off the button before releasing, which is appropriate behaviour IF you had held the mouse button down in the first place...
    6) If you activate Mail by clicking in the content area, then clicking a second time in the content area, then continue to single click around the content, it behaves as if it is one step behind you, responding as if the LAST click is the click you just made.  Interestingly the "button down state" seems to persist, because for instance clicking on a succession of emails will highlight each email in turn, but the content of the email on the right will not update with each click, only updating when you "break out of the cycle" with a double click or a title bar click.
These are all REPRODUCIBLE, even after a restart.
    They ONLY happen in Mail.
I have tried mouse, track pad, turning off bluetooth, so I don't think these things are related.
    SO...
I THINK that MAIL, since Lion, has an issue with its event handler, where MouseUp events are either lost or mishandled, so that clicks are being registered as drags, or the "button down" state is not updated or something...
With the above description I feel the Mail programming team should be able to track down the bug in minutes and fix it.
Apple - feel free to get in contact with me and I will let you access my machine via remote desktop or teamviewer or something to see the bug in action.
It is time to fix this annoying behaviour.
    Message was edited by: jaffle
Worked out that 2 and 6 are related - the offset isn't an offset at all - it is the thing you last clicked on!

Okay, I tried deleting the Finder preferences first (along with a handful of other preference files that I knew were no longer needed), and it seemed to help--at first. But eventually, all the same problems started happening again, so I concluded that it was necessary to just start with a fresh (empty) preferences folder. As you know, this is a pain to deal with, but I limited my pain by moving all the old preferences files into a folder on the Desktop rather than simply deleting them. That way, I could just put back any missing preferences that were too hard to recreate. Restoring all of my preferences with new (uncorrupted) prefs files will be an ongoing process, but the good news is that this effort (so far) seems to have solved the problem. Mail is responding to all my clicks, even when I switch between different apps and different spaces.  :-)
Now that things are working correctly, I notice that when I switch between apps and/or spaces, the selected app (or the frontmost app in the new space) will show an active state for its window, whereas before, the selected app didn't update to show that it was active--it kept the inactive state for its window. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that this might have something to do with the windowserver process, so it might make sense for the next person who stumbles on this thread to start by deleting any preferences files that begin with com.apple.windowserver. Just a hunch, but it's worth starting there before you do a complete flush of all your preferences.
Thanks again for the help--hopefully this workaround will be persistent. Fingers crossed!
