Forum for Question on WordArt in WORD 2008 for Mac?

I just want to figure out if there is a way to change the color of the text in the given WordArt Styles.
I fear not as alas, I have tried.  Looks like only size and font can be changed.
If not, looking for a work-around.  I'm trying to use a regular text box, where I do get color options, but the text does not seem to enlarge when you drag/extend the edges of the textbox to get the size I want like it does in the WordArt textboxes.
Please don't tell me to get a graphix program, I have no money.  I am a Yogi, duh! (tongue in cheek, eh?)
Thanks!

I'd ask them over here.

  • I would like to suggest a Verizon-specific forum for Mac-users

Verizon is the largest provider of wireless and other related solutions. When I have problems with my Mac or supporting services I am consistently able to find solutions on either the Mac or Verizon forums. However, this takes quite a bit of effort to locate the right answer for my problem. And, this takes a lot of time.
I would like to harness solutions for Mac-users who are Verizon customers all in one place. This could make it easier for Mac-users to get quick answers. This could also be a great referral point for Verizon as it sorts out answers/solutions for Mac users.
Currently, Verizon hears from less than .05% of its customers that there are any issues of compatibility, less access to great services, needs for solutions for Mac. However Mac users represent at least 20% of computer users around the US. On the one hand you can infer that there are issues with less than .05% of the Mac universe or, on the other hand, you can infer that many just don't go to Verizon for the solutions.
I am not sure which is right. I just know that having solutions in one place, my Mac home, would be useful. I hope you will consider the idea.
I do realize no forums are dedicated to any one provider. However, Verizon, again, is the biggest provider. Maybe this is worthy of a forum.

    Hi,
I this case I don't see the need to duplicate services that are independent and already out there

This British one has ISP related forums as well as OS specific issue ones

If I had Internet Connection problems and my ISP seemed unable to help me then I would look to those.
I am sure there are many that are also Language based all over the world or at least country based where a language is spoken in more than one part of the world.
It is about the level of question involved and some may already get answered in the "Getting On Line" and similar forums already here.

  • Need Windows forum for Mac users

I am a Mac user. I like Macintosh better than Windows. I am far more familiar with Macintosh than Windows. However, I have to use Windows in addition to Macintosh. I need help in using Windows XP. However, Mac users and Windows users have different vocabularies and different cultures. It is difficult for me to communicate with Windows users.
I understand that this discussion site at Apple is not appropriate to post questions about Windows XP.
Are there any non-Apple forums or public newsgroups where one can ask Windows-related questions to Windows gurus who are also very familiar with Macintosh, who understand Mac vocabulary, and who perhaps like Macintosh better than Windows?

Thank you, Felix and mecklists. I will post a question about Windows XP in a new thread in this forum first. Let's see whether the question will be deleted by the moderator.
Also, let's see whether this forum is attended by "Windows gurus who are also very familiar with Macintosh, who understand Mac vocabulary, and who perhaps like Macintosh better than Windows"

  • Special Characters (holding key) has erratic behavior in Word 2008

I am trying to hunt down a mystery for a friend using her macbook air (Lion).
She is trying to add special characters (accents, etc.) to words in a MIcrosoft Word 2008 document.
Sometimes she can hold the key, and the special characters menu will pop up. Sometimes she will get the "old" repeating letter (eeeeeeeeeeeee). I tried to look at everything I could think of, but there seems to be no earthly reason why it does it sometimes but not all the time.
The only explanation I could guess at was that it was Word 2008 and Lion (and not Word 2011).
Does anyone know any fixes or explanations?

I suggest you post your question on Microsofts forums for Mac Office as it's their software you're having issues with:

  • Problems with active hyperlinks in Word 2008 to pdf conversion

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
When converting from Word 2008 to a pdf document, the only hyperlinks that are actually "hot" are the ones that have an 'http://www.' text in front of the url address.
In other words, if I have this link 'kingofcopy.com/max' and this link 'http://www.kingofcopy.com/max' written in the Word document, and BOTH links are hyperlinked to 'http://www.kingofcopy.com/max' OR even 'http://www.kingofcopy.com/max/index.html' only the text link with the FULL url displayed (http://www.kingofcopy.com/max) is an actual active hot link.
What's strange though, is all the text that's hyperlinked, is blue and underlined and is "hot" in Word, just not in the pdf.
I really hope someone has a clue here because this is very frustrating. Thanks in advance, Craig
BTW, running Word 2008 on Mac 10.5.8

    Hi Craig,
Did some testing this arvo with Word 2008 12.1.5 (can't install SP2 due to me using v13 of Entourage). I created a document with hyperlinks and found similar results to what you have mentioned.
My word document had three hyperlinks; one with the full URL, one without the leading http and one with just a single word, but using the menu a hyperlink was made to a web site. As you said, all three entries appeared in the Word document with a blue underline and by hovering over the link, the URL would appear in a yellow pop-up.
I then made two pdf's, one using the default PDF button within the print dialog and one using the Adobe PDF 8.0 printer queue (which is working okay for me).
With both PDF's, I have to open them in Acrobat 8.1.6. None of the hyperlinks work for either document when I open them using Preview
With either document opened in Acrobat, the hyperlink with the full URL and the hyperlink with the URL starting with just 'www' show the link when I hover over them. But, for the single word that is still hyperlinked to the same web site as the other two links, no URL is displayed when moving the mouse of the link.
So it looks like there is a limitation to creating hyperlinks in Word if you are going to convert them to PDF. This may already be noted somewhere so I will have a snoop around for an existing solution.

  • PC Micorsoft Office compatilbility w/ Microsoft Office for Mac 2004

My wife is considering purchasing a PC which will be compatible with the local community college prgrams, but our kids will use it and their school is Mac-based. The school uses Microsoft Office for Mac 2004.
My question is: Will the Microsoft Office that comes installed on the new PC be compatible with the Mac's version. In other words, will my kids be able to type, say, a paper in Word on the PC at home and then take it to school and be able to work on it on a Mac?
Thanks for any insight to this very basic question.

*"Then why did it happen so, that when I sent a .doc file to my coworkers (using PC's and Vista) that I had created with my Word (from Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 package) some of the pictures where not showing at all"*
You probably linked to the images, instead of embedding them in the document. Regardless, since Office is not an Apple product you'll probably want to post your question over on Microsoft's product forums for Mac: http://www.officeformac.com/productforums/

  • Sent messages from secondary account are not saved in Outlook 2011 for Mac

We are using a shared email account added in Outlook 2011 for Mac.  It's not the default account but we send from it often.
Whenever sending from this secondary mailbox, the message is not saved in sent items folder under the secondary mailbox or the default mailbox.  There seems to be no record of the sent item anywhere.
I verified the message is sent and received.
All microsoft updates have been applied and we are using Exchange 2010.

    Hello,
Please first log into OWA and check if the email are saved in the Sent Items folder.
We can tick the option "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 to save a copy of sent message, please check if you get such option in Outlook for Mac.
In addition, in Outlook for Windows, we can change a registry key to force Outlook to save sent emails in the default or secondary mailbox, but I'm not sure if Outlook 2011 has such trick. See:

  • Import entourage database into Outlook 2011 for mac

I set up a new macbook from a time machine backup. The main identity for entourage was from the original date of install. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that when I did my initial import so it brought in about two e-mails from 2 years ago but not the entire database. I did a new TM backup of the entire database and chose import in Outlook and it appeared to be going but when it indicated it was finished-- nothing new showed up. What did I do wrong?

    Hi,
We can import .iaf files in Outlook 2010 using the following method:
    Start Outlook 2010.
On the File menu, click Import and Export.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Export.
Click Import Internet Mail Account Settings, and then click
    Next.
Follow the Internet Connection Wizard to complete the import process.
But, I don't know if we can do this in Outlook for Mac 2011. Since this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows, it's better to post Mac related issue to the forum for Mac:

  • Cad programs for mac

    Hi everyone,
I have just became a mac user, but i'm an architecture stutent which in the past using pc's needed to work with Autocad(only for windows) almost all days..since i don't want to install boot acmp and un the autocad,i was looking for some help to find the better pogram of that type for Mac...TurboCad?Archicad?Vectorworks?
Can anyone give me a hep here?
    thanks

If you search the archinect forums for "mac software" you will find 44 topics with hundreds of responses to similar questions, some of which link back to topics here in Apple's Discussions. If you register with archinect, you can ask your own questions.
In the meantime, post your questions about CAD software for OS X in the Using Tiger forum (or in the forum dealing with Usage for your hardware, whatever that may be) where you may find more focused attention to your issue. This forum, as its title suggests, isn't intended for technical questions, but for feedback on Apple Discussions itself.
    Good luck.

  • Outlook for Mac 2011 doesn't bounce dock icon for new message

Under "Outlook Preferences -> Notifications & Sounds" I have the option selected "Bounce Outlook icon in Dock" for new messages. But the icon doesn't bounce when I get a new email. I'd really like for that to work - is this a known
issue or a local config issue?

    Hi,
Please first note that the option only applies when Outlook is not the active application. In addition, it appears that the icon bounces when you first select the Outlook application to open it. If you want the icon to bounce when new mail arrives
you will need to create a rule for that.
Since this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows, if above doesn't applies, I'd recommend you post a new question in the forum for Mac for further assistance:
